I think you are forgetting that he's on mobile, which (non development) Chrome's version is still 57.0.2987.132. Go on the play store if you want to check for yourself, or just see this picture taken as I typed this very comment. This is still a problem on mobile Chrome users.
Update: An update as been pushed to the stable branch of Chrome and the site now shows it's true characters, so no more punny code. Awesome for security and RIP sites where punny code was useful. Boop
Yes it does. Just tried it myself by installing from the Play Store website:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome
BUT, there is no Leanback shortcut for it. Opening it requires going to Settings - Apps - Chrome - Open. Or by using a sideload launcher like HAL.
Yes. And BTW, there is no need to side load chrome. You can simply visit https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome on your desktop machine and select to install it on the shield ... or just talk to the shield as I've discovered ;)
>Chrome Dev
You are aware that this is an experimental and unstable version of the browser, right?
If you want the browser to be stable, use the stable version.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome
just go to the play store and select the shield
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome
after you do that you can use the voice command "open chrome" to open it or use a sideload launcher
Per Planet.Chromium.org on Wednesday, September 18th: "Hi, everyone! We've just released Chrome 77 (77.0.3865.92) for Android: it'll become available on Google Play over the next few weeks." My HP x360 14 still say up to date but it's usually only a day or two after announced that I should get the update.
You can install Chrome via the website for the Play Store. Go here on a computer.
If you have the gamepad, the right control stick can be used in lieu of a mouse.
That said, the Chrome app does not have a tile for Android TV, so you won't be able to access via the launcher. You'll have to find a workaround to launch it (either using the voice assistant, cloning the apk to create a tile, etc.) but I recommend just using the Puffin TV browser instead. It works with the remote.
It's not the sites, it's the advertisers. If Android Central doesn't watch / respond to crappy advertisers they'll have those issues.
Just to be safe you can uninstall Chrome and reinstall it from the official Play page but odds are it's just crappy advertisers leveraging HTML5 APIs. Screencap it and report it to the sites if you can, they'll blacklist the offenders if they can find them.
You can install the Chrome app via a web browser. You'll need to launch the app using a voice command though, since there's no leanback tile to click on. Just get to the homescreen and hit the mic button with the command "open Chrome". Then you'll need to use the Shield controller to use the right control stick as a mouse. I would go to fast.com since it's quicker to type using the controller, but you could also try speedtest.net as well just to have another data point.
You might be able to play it inside of Chrome: https://archive.org/details/msdos_Oregon_Trail_The_1990
Just have to install Chrome via the web and use the voice command "open Chrome".
I just installed Chrome to my Shield and tested it with the remote. The mouse came up right away when I used the right analog stick.
I installed this version of Chrome:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome&hl=en
If you look at Chrome app permission on play store [1] you will notice that it does not have "read your contacts" so it could not possibly get your contacts. We only have "accounts on the device" needed to get your own email address for sync.
[1] https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome
Sorry for the late reply (I had no idea about this subreddit). If you haven't already, I would suggest using Chrome browser.
Once you've opened the app, hit the overflow menu button (three dots on the top right), and select "Request Desktop Site". This should force Reddit's desktop page to appear.
In a good web browser you will likely be able to add a shortcut to your home screen, such as by pressing (Menu) -> Add to Home screen in the case of Chrome.
Mobile could make a difference.
I don't know, because I have no smartphone...
Chrome for Android was updated March 25, 2022
> Current version:
> Varies by device
Don't has Chrome installed so I went to see what the fuss was about and found:
> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome&hl=en&gl=us&reviewId=gp%3AAOqpTOExh5YEju9XQjQ0GAIYdRmmlGaR2uWHwbR5ZYajLvSAQ52qQkUf-vknTbR6OSooqlg_W8MOGkGonaiKJ6s > > What a terrible update experience for version 97! I've been using the new tab grid view for a year, yet after today's update, all the tabs use the old display. I searched for a long time for a solution, and finally, I found the culprit "Simplified view for open tabs" in "Accessibility"! I'd like to ask you guys, why no hint for such a major update? You guys are doing a bad job!
No, Kustom apps don't have this function, only the $ni(1,pkg)$ that print the package name of the second notification in this case, I think that you have an app in the Play store that bring you the package name, other than this the last part of the link of the apps in the Play store is the package name, like
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome&hl=es_UY&gl=US
The Chrome Browser is available at the Playstore for the Nvidia Shield.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome
The permission to pause other apps can be removed from an app by
adb shell cmd appops set <package name> TAKE_AUDIO_FOCUS ignore
or
adb shell cmd appops set <package name> TAKE_AUDIO_FOCUS deny
in the PC program ADB (to change settings in the mobile device). The app might not work normally without this permission. The default is allow.
To obtain the package name, for example share an app from the play store. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome
where the package name is "com.android.chrome".
You cannot install it using the Play Store on your TV, but you should be able to install it using the Google Play Store on the web pushing to your TV. (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome). You would then need to launch via Sideload Launcher or through settings. And navigation could be a pain without a mouse (if they don't give you something to simulate that). I realize it is too much of a pain if you didn't already do something like this before. But I do appreciate you getting the apk.
Ok so i think you got confused somewhere.
Get Rom ToolBox or Titanium Backup
Freeze System Update - DO NOT Freeze SuperSU
Get ES File Explorer Free OR PRO
Then when you download an apk you can find it using es file explorer and install it. You downloaded the apk but you never installed it.
I would say also install chrome. When you download an apk file it asks you if you want to install it right away. So maybe that is better for you too. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome
> This is what your dumbass said not me.
AS AN EXAMPLE OF HOW AN IN-APP BROWSER IS FUCKING USELESS. CONTEXT CLUES SO FUCKING HARD. Did you like, just not read the two sentences before that one? You're supposed to string sentences together to form paragraphs of complete ideas. This is English 101.
>How is reddit apps less flexible when it's designed literally to provide you with more options,
Except, and maybe you haven't tried the super-lightweight mobile version, they DON'T provide you with more options. Reddit's own app doesn't even do fucking Private Messages. Account history is a hassle. I've tried a few of the apps. I've tried reddit's official app. Everything I've tried is lacking compared to the simple mobile site, especially since you're one small URL change away from accessing the full fucking desktop site.
>THE BROWSER DOES NOT VIEW REDDIT. Holy shit how are you so tech stupid?
Holy shit, how are you this tech illiterate/actually illiterate?
What the fuck do think THIS IS? or THIS? It's a goddamn browser and it views Reddit, Amazon, Imgur, eBay, and whatever the fuck else ends in '.com'.
I'm giving up. I've had more understandable and intelligent discussions with children. I'm actually probably just being trolled at this point aren't I? I did just have to explain an internet browser to someone who is presumably using a browser... So you have to either be a troll or a grandparent.
you can install Google Chrome on the Shield TV by pushing it from the Play Store on a web browser. Go to the Google Chrome play store page here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome&hl=en and click Install/Installed and from the device drop down chose your Shield Android TV and then install the Sideload Launcher from here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.tv.sideloadlauncher&hl=en using the same instructions.
The Sideload Launcher will show up on the Shield Android TV. Use it to launch Google Chrome and then use the right analog stick in chrome as the mouse pointer.
Chrome is installed on all Android 4.3+ devices. Even Samsung phones, which have a custom Samsung browser on the homescreen, have Chrome installed as part of the firmware.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome&hl=en
Chrome has over half a billion active installs on Android.
AOSP doesn't have a browser anymore, but you can do some hacks to download the old AOSP browser if you want: http://www.xda-developers.com/bring-back-the-aosp-browser-on-kitkat-2/
> Because of how it looks in the Play Store to the consumer?
Looks exactly the same between the two to me. The first 4 results for searching "Chrome" on Google Play:
The first 4 results for searching "Firefox" on Google Play:
In each case the 5th result is not firefox/chrome. In either case the first result is the one 99% of people are looking for and click, I'm not sure where confusion is coming in from or how there is more on one side vs the other.
In regards to the developer fragmentation the listed versions aren't ground-up different versions being worked on simultaneously. Much like Chrome vs Chromium vs Android WebView vs AOSP Browser it's just a change to the UI code and a few additional services bolted on. Since it's largely around the way the UI behaves in most all of these cases it doesn't make sense to package it as one version.
Anyways they still need to fix the performance issues on the main version for Android but that's not being blocked by this.
To be fair, big companies are doing that on other apps as well.
Google Chrome: Fast & Secure
Firefox Browser fast & private
can you try latest chrome? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome
Apps-wise, here's the basics:
List made using List My Apps
Hah, you weren't kidding!
There are 4 Chrome apps (also called "channels"):
There are also multiple versions of Chrome such as 66, 67, and 68. Both the version & channel of Chrome affect the features that are available.
Only the stable channel is supported on Mirage right now. It's not meant for general web browsing yet, but it will be in the future.
You shouldn't use Canary since that's meant for developers & testing. If you want to experiment with WebVR, use the Dev version. After enabling the feature in chrome://flags/#enable-webvr
, you may need to restart your headset, but samples such as https://aframe.io/examples/showcase/helloworld/ (search for a frame
) and https://webvr.info/samples/03-vr-presentation.html (search for webvr samples
) should render in 6DOF VR. What is the problem you're seeing?
This app has a nicer interface, and while it uses a bit more space, it can access a much larger library of websites.
you dont even need to side load it. Just go to a desktop computer and install it to your TV from there.

SMS : Google Messenger
Camera: Google Camera and CameraMX
Must have apps in my opinion: Xposed, Titanuim BackUp, Nova Launcher, Rewards,
[](#howcouldyou "Really!?")
This task copies the current url while in <strong>Chrome</strong>. It then uses the <strong>Material Design Plugin</strong> to show a dialog that let's me choose what device I want to send the url to.
For your situation though in the Push action you can choose "All" under device name to make it send to all every device you have connected :-}
It's Google Chrome:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome
Depends on the operating system. You can download each and see. For the latest Chrome version:
I find it odd that Chrome, Kiwi and Firefox browsers only show tabs when displayed on a landscape device, but show only single pages on a portrait smartphone. Rocket Browser displays tabs in both orientations.
I'll use this URL as an example: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome
So what I want to happen is, when I open the bookmarklet/extension, for the URL above (that's an example. I want it to take the URL I'm currently viewing (at the time it would be a Play Store URL similar to the one above)) to be added onto the end of this URL: https://apk-dl.com/search?q=
That would form this: https://apk-dl.com/search?q=https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome which I would like to be redirected to. The part of the URL after "?q=" is the URL I'd be viewing when running the extension (or clicking on the bookmarklet or whatever I end up with).
Nah that's fine, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome
Try going to this link on your phone or pc browser, and using the page to install to you your Android TV
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome&hl=en
Since when Android boxes don't have chrome?
For Chrome you should be able to install it from the website, at least I can on my Shield.
Go here in a browser window and click install. You'll be given the option to install on your Nexus Player.
I know, I just think the "Chrome" is alot cleaner :)
Chrome by Google
Pros: fast, material, made by Google, reliable, derived from Chromium (open-source), constantly updated
Con: no AdBlock
Chrome Beta by Google
Pros: See above + cutting-edge
Cons: See above + more bugs, less reliable
CAF Browser
Firefox Browser for Android by Mozilla
Lightning+ Browser
I wish they were. Couldn't we shoehorn them into Ubuntu using Archon and the Chrome Mobile apk or the Firefox apk?
Oh...you're using Android Browser rather than Chrome.
Also, when you preview the HIT (before accepting, it changes upon acceptance), the dummy HIT is for the Chrome app. :)
Personally I've started giving 1 star ratings to all apps that only put out those bullshit "changelogs".
Examples:
