There is a guy on the Blue Jays right now who has had an "Immaculate Game" (struck out every batter he faced) and he was streaking in the background while Bautista was interviewed after the last game.
As retribution for Jose Bautista flipping his bat after an important home run during the Rangers/Blue Jays playoff series last year, Texas Rangers 2nd baseman Rougned Odor punched Bautista in the face during a game this May after a hard slide into 2nd base by Bautista. STORY OF THE INCIDENT
The fan with the sign was poking fun at that incident essentially saying, sure go ahead and enjoy your sucker punch from that game in May if it makes you feel good, because we will take knocking you out of the playoffs this October by beating you 3 games straight as our justice.
Texas has been one of the luckiest teams this season.
Their run differential is only +4, compared to the Jays at +83. Their record is actually expected to be 54-53
BabyBanz are worth the price - around $30 on Amazon.
As shitty as this is, you should still be able to work around it using a VPN like F-Secure's Freedome.
Kinda shitty that they'd do this just to try drive people to Sportsnet Now, though. has so many advantages over SN Now (especially being able to watch non-live games).
I may sign up when does their reduced price promos later in the season, but this is still a dick move. So much for all that talk about getting the younger generation involved.
EDIT: I do notice that this came from support and not from Rogers Support, so things may yet change. Guess we'll need to hear from subscribers when the season starts.
Biagini has been used pretty heavily over the past week. I hope they ease off of him after tonight. This type of use led to his struggles in June
I made these last season, if I get a few free minutes I'll update for this year. The format size for these is for an iPad, but I can change them around to fit your needs.
Rain is almost done according to weather radar, I'd say 20 minutes tops, but then there will only be clear skies for like 1-2 hours after that, either we'll play 1-2 hours of baseball then stop, or we'll play 3+ hours in the rain, or the game is gonna be cancelled.
> I understand the argument for Britton winning the AL Cy Young
Well that makes one of us.
I tend to agree with Keith Law in this article.
Ultimately, would the Orioles still be a good team without Britton? Yes, I think it's pretty clear. However, would the Jays or Astros be as good without Donaldson or Altuve? Not even remotely.
I use Witopia, but I've found their servers to be a little slow. I'd probably recommend Private Internet Access, as that seems to be reddit's favorite in the cordcutting community. Haven't tried them, but will probably switch over once my Witopia subscription expires.
Protip: MLBtv only checks your location on the initial load. If you start watching a game through the VPN, you can disconnect from it and use your regular Toronto-based internet at any time and keep watching uninterrupted.
I use Unblock-Us() and through my PS3 works like a charm, I've heard Roku works well too. Unblock-Us is super easy, the only thing you have to watch is using up too much of your monthly Bandwidth, I have Cogeco 300 GB and with Netflix streaming have come close to the cap, watching every game. As far as I know it's perfectly legal, although may violate terms of service. Also, you can put the Radio broadcast over the TV Video which means Jerry & Jack instead of Buck & Pat!(Possibly the best part)
Strike zone analysis from an unbiased source, unless you ask Jays fans who think ESPN doesn't want them to win because they're Canadian, or Cleveland fans who think ESPN doesn't want them to win because they're a small market team. And for what it's worth, this analysis isn't done by ESPN, it's by TruMedia.
Here's a link to the average attendance of a Jays away game. They are currently 19th in the MLB in terms of average road attendance.
The league average for a home game is 30,177, while the road average is 30,186.
So, the Jays are slightly underperforming the road average.
Anyone got Atkins’ email?
Actually, no. The "removed" function indicates that the second person is one generation older or younger than the first person.
In this case his "dad's cousin's son" is the same generation (since "dad's cousin" is the same generation, and being the son of his dad is the same generation as being the son of his dad's cousin).
Pretty much everyone the team feels is deserving will get a ring. Even Reyes will most likely get a ring.
Edit: forgot the link http://www.ask.com/sports-active-lifestyle/members-baseball-team-world-series-ring-362dbce9deee4e65
Indeed. In fact...
~~I don't know how to link to a specific tweet, so there's that.~~
Thanks, KillEmAll83.

I've yet to win at The Natural at 50 speed, where there's no hints as to which way the ball is breaking.
Hey Blue Jays fans, want to know every time the Yankees and other rivals get destroyed? Team Troll on Android
Add your LEAST favorite teams; get notifications when they're losing!
Not that I like to make excuses, but Bautista has a point. With the eye the Blue Jays batters use, an inconsistent strike zone only gives them two cuts at the ball (if there lucky). Great little article on espn. http://www.espn.com/blog/statsinfo/post/_/id/125250/indians-called-strikes-advantage-significant-through-2-games
that does not work that way. You can't put someone on the DL unless they have medical documentation approved by the League in the post season.

TuneIn has a 30-day free trial.
Before we go off about how Dickey has been terrible lately and doesn't have anything left, have a look at his game log. He hasn't been bad lately.
Has he been bad today? Obviously. But to suggest that Liriano should be in the rotation, or that Dickey shouldn't pitch at all, is just absurd. It's been an awful outing, but it hasn't been his recent norm. Happ has actually been worse since August 1st
Considering he is top 10 in all of the MLB, not just the AL, his statement's completely true, not to mention he's a Cy Young candidate, think it's a pretty safe to say.
Ha I don't know how you found this old thread, but for a fellow Jays fan I've re-uploaded.
*after listening to these I am so pumped for baseball, why is the season so far away?!
It looks like there's a strong possibility of a rain delay today. But it also looks like there a chance we'll dodge it.
Yeah, probably Biagini.
I think you could say Biagini, Benoit and Grilli were "similary effective" at preventing baserunners tonight.
However, Biagini pitched earlier (and pitched more innings) than the other guys. Lo and behold, the scorer did choose Biagini tonight.
In case no one knows about it and wants easy quick emails, use 10 minute mail.
It generates an email which lasts for 10 minutes, then deletes the email. Disposable emails for all!
Nope, I just have my router set to the unlocator DNS and my roku is set to use my router for DNS and it work fine.
Unlocator tech support is excellent, I'd drop them a line. should definitely work.
Freedome works on Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows, so you'll have no problem watching it at the same time as something else or someone else. Just run the VPN, choose the US as your location, and watch the game. Simple.
Teksavvy, Unblock-Us and here. Totally worth every penny. Unblock-Us also makes sure you can get all the playoff games if you decide to pay the extra $5 come October - normally North American customers can't.
The PS3 app is ok and the MLB At Bat app is great. As others have mentioned, jays games aren't blacked out even without using any unblocking services. I subscribe to NHL Gamecenter as well and the support/experience is terrible, does things right.
No, but the mlb site does gameday for them.
http://mlb.mlb.com/milb/stats/scoreboard.jsp?sid=l131&t=l_sco&lid=131
They do appear to broadcast games on the radio, but it will be in Spanish.
The team's app claims to carry the games, here's a link to it:

oh snap, that kinda handcuffs the team
in the NBA the player has to reject the option, AND THEN go re-sign/extend or sign with another team
the nba also has the silly moratorium period where players magically change their minds

Hi friends! I am sad to report that will not carry the SN broadcast for blue jays fans in the US. But I am happy to report a workaround!
SN Now only works if you have a Canadian IP. VPNs will do this for you, but SN knows people do this so they blacklist IPs for any VPNs they can identify. PIA and the Mozilla VPNs don't work (at least not for me). But NordVPN does! I signed up for a month of SN Now and I am now finally a digital Canadian in addition to being a physical one.
If you have a VPN and want to test it before signing up for SN Now, go to the SN page and try to watch any blue jays related videos. They're IP locked as well, so if they don't play it means that SN marked that IP as a VPN and is blocking it.
Interesting. Wiki Answers seems confused (the double asterisked note seems to contradict the first sentence):
If a baseball game is stopped because of rain and one team is leading how would they start the rescheduled game?
Answer: If a game is past 5 innings it is considered an official game (or if the home team is winning and they are playing the bot 5th, this would also be an official game) -- if a team is winning at that time they get the win and all stats are recorded. If the game is in the 5th (other then noted above) the game is started as a new game with no stats recorded. If the game is after the 5th inning and the game is tied, the game will pick up exactly where they left off with all stats official. In the event that this happens during the middle of an inning or even an at-bat, when play resumes the count will remain the same when the resume
** If the game is "official" and past 5 innings, It will revert back to the last inning completed, i.e if a game is "called" in the middle of the 7th (assuming they dont resume the game) the game will revert back to the end of the 6th and the team winning will have won the game
ya, its here too, but I don't think it's quite the same. Blue seems darker
While you're hat hunting - use the "9twenty" or "9forty" new era style as your guide.
To give you a little hope...this is a very common hat in Toronto and Southern Ontario so you should be able to find it soon enough
Good luck!
NordVPN. It works on iPhone and iPads, but not on Apple TV devices.
I can confirm it works with these devices and also on Fire Stick devices.
If you don’t have Nord, Rakuten usually has a 40-60% off cash back deal for 2 year plans. And I believe if you can get a student discount code it should further reduce it.
Really? I’ve never had issues with mlb66 . ir and usually see one pop-up and I’m good to go.
But for watching on a tv I needed a better solution as I don’t have Rogers tv so I bought a mlb sub at 50% off and watch anywhere. NordVPN I already had and it works on a Fire Stick.
I heard the same thing and almost cancelled my subscription because of it. But I decided to test it out and it's still working, so... shrug.
I use NordVPN. We got it initially for more secure browsing and unlocking geolocked content, but MLB is a big boon for us keeping it too.
Now, the mobile app won't help you if you're trying to watch on your phone as the app uses your GPS location to figure out where you are. So, I use my phone for listening to the radio feed of games and my computer to watch them when I'm able.
Setup looks like this: - fire up NordVPN, select a nearby state as my server, conscious where our opponent is from (ie, don't pick a NY server when we play the Yankees)
open an incognito browser, log in to , play the game, go to full-screen
cast that screen to my television usuing our Chromecast
Sit back and watch the boys get the W.
Now, things get weird in the playoffs and I usually set Nord to somewhere in Europe because of national broadcast blackouts for those games.
This has some pretty terrible advice in it but I'm going to leave it up, at least for now, just because people are asking questions in the comments.
There is no service you need to watch the Blue Jays that costs $35 a month.
1) is good and should work with NordVPN (it worked for me last year). was also available last week for free with T-Mobile (all you needed was to know someone who has it or to have bought a license from someone online). If you want and don't want to pay full price, you can wait until the Father's Day promo when it gets deeply discounted.
2) If you want to watch all Jays games plus half the Raptors and Leafs games and get tons of other awesome coverage, just subscribe to Sportsnet Now. Unless you're specifically looking to watch a ton of other baseball teams, Sportsnet Now is the best bang-for-your-buck sports subscription service in Canada.
3) The best value overall is IPTV. You can find a box for something like $150 and then you just pay $10-15 a month for a subscription and you get every TV channel imaginable, as well as all pay-per-view content for free and a massive on-demand video library. Dhillon Video and Golumbia Video are two stores I know that carry it in Brampton but there are a ton of options. The only downside to IPTV is you can't watch it on your computer or mobile devices. For people that use a ton of devices like that, Sportsnet Now is still the best value.
4) If none of those options appeal to you, you could always just walk the plank, ya filthy swashbuckler, arr!
I have NordVPN as well and it worked fine using a NY server for the home opener but it didn't work for me yesterday no matter what server I tried. This is on my tv thru the Google TV MLB app. Works fine on my phone. Contacted Nord and they didn't offer any solution. Back to listening on the radio. Paid $6 and change for MLBTV so I can't complain.

Get something like this. You can plug in your ear buds and get real time AM radio feed. All the apps and pretty sure Sirius will have significant delay.
Haha that's alright - Clevelanders know what it's like to lose. Keep an eye on the Cleveland Browns losses for some schadenfreude. And the Raptors beat the Cavs at a preseason game I was at last week!
The Crime and Sports podcast did a whole episode years ago on Jose , it would be worth it listening to if ones interested, here is a link https://player.fm/series/crime-in-sports-1520935/ep-112-flexing-his-crime-muscles-the-exhaustiveness-of-jose-canseco
I check the weather on Tuesday. It is not good to play a game. https://www.accuweather.com/en/severe-weather/wet-weather-tightens-grip-on-eastern-half-of-us-this-week/791893
His cFIP is also very encouraging. It actually ranks him better than Cueto or Hamels (in 2014 and 2013 at least, I'm not sure if 2015 numbers are published anywhere).
I found an Associated Press article from 9 October 1985 about the game. The Morganna impostor event is described in the second column.
This was the play in question
You can see him stretch it out a bit after reaching second (and the stumble around 1st). He ran from 2nd to home on the single from Martin and stayed in the rest of the game, so I'd say he's fine.
The weather's usually fine in September. The roof will probably only close for rain.
FWIW, last year the Dome was Open for the final 6 games of the year, including night games. It was closed 4 times last September though so it comes down to weather luck.
Nope. It's unlistenable. Over the last three games, they failed to call an average of one play per inning, always returned way too late from Hazel's updates, and refered to on-screen stats or a replay unavailable to the radio audience multiple times per game. As a blind person, the only way for me to follow the game is listening to the away team, or pulling up the MLB game day page thing, and setting up NVDA to read out the changes on the page as they happen. Also, the sound mix is just bad! No park announcers? No hearing the music each player comes up to the plate with? I might as well read the box score after the game; it would have just as much atmosphere.

Normally a sporting goods store will have them. A team shop will always have them, if you have them near you.
They still sell wall calendars, but I don't know if they have the schedule on them, the product details don't say much and the only sample page is from January.

It's called bias lighting. Basic white strips are cheap, ones where you can change colours are a little more. This is a popular one https://www.amazon.ca/Luminoodle-Color-Bias-Lighting-Powered/dp/B076X85988
Its main purpose is to increase perceived contrast on LCD TVs (not needed for OLED) when watching in a dark room. Other than that some people just use it because it looks cool. Gives the room a little bit of light without putting glare on the screen.
I recommend that your daughter get this:
https://www.amazon.ca/Nintendo-Kirby-pile-up-figure/dp/B019DOY9EG/
I have a set of these miniature Kirby stackable figurines. Each one could be used to represent the number of strikes Yates would need to throw to end the game.
"George Bell was a better hitter, for sure, than Jesse Barfield for their careers."
Same OPS+, so no.
"If you think Barfield was better than Bell after he left the Jays you're crazy."
Barfield has much higher WAR, so no.
"Why RBI are not very useful? That's absurd."

"Disagreeing with something absurd isn't "digging in my heels"."
Irrelevant since the premise is clearly not absurd.
"You never once have quoted OBP, but whatever...."
Not sure your point here. I mentioned OBP in the context of stats you ignored when trying to make your case for Bell.
"Anyway, I liked then both. This whole debate started with "if George Bell didn't have his MVP season"...well, he did."
It started because I called out the original article for its ridiculous suggestion that George Bell should be in the Hall of Fame.
"Goodbye."
Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Welcome! For any new Jays fan I highly recommend you read the book written by Buck Martinez, Change Up: How to make the great game of baseball even better. Buck is a former Jays player, coach, and long-time broadcaster. Great guy, lots of great stories to share about Jays history and lore, and has a lot of insights into the game of baseball itself. It's a crash course in everything Blue Jays in one handy volume.
To keep cool, this is your best friend: Frogg Togg Chilly Pad
Though I don't know where to get them other than Amazon in Canada.
Sounds like they need some of this for tomorrow.
And simply shut up, you're the only team that has had an issue. Obviously it's not ideal for anyone but if it's bright enough to watch on TV it's probably fine to see the sign
Amazon often has a good price. Right now they're $15.99 USD, which is a very good price - places like Target and Dick's in the US often get $24 or more apiece for baseballs.
Yeah, but it's pretty cheap. A license is $60 and covers up to three devices for a year. You can also use it for Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, and so on. And it gives you all the protection of a VPN anyway, so if you're in a coffee shop using their WiFi and don't want someone sniffing your banking password, just fire up your VPN and go to work.
I'm sure there are also alternative VPNs that are cheaper. I like Freedome because I trust the company behind it, but there's undoubtedly others out there that are lower cost.
Just don't use Hola. It turns your computer into an exit node, which you do not want to do.
I've been too cheap to buy a real VPN but I just tried Zenmate and tested with Romania and Hong Kong (the free version only has a few countries) and neither of those gave a single team option either, although when I changed my location to the US I did get the single team option. I couldn't check in a ton of locations but this leads me to believe they may have disabled the options for all countries except the US. This could just be an error on their end (although who knows, it could be intentional) but hopefully it doesn't mean Rogers will be exercising their blackout restrictions. I know the CSR with said the option has just been disabled but there's a good chance he had no clue what was going on and just gave the easiest answer to get off the call.
should get you around any blackout issues. $5/month ain't so bad.
Normally I'd say that it's good for other things too, but seeing as how living in the states already gets you access to most of the things that Unblock-Us provides, it's probably a moo point.
If you have an inkjet printer, just get vinyl sheets and do it yourself. Bonus, you can do it every year when his number changes.
I don't think I paid more than $350CAD for the Professional model 2-3 years back.

Fun fact: Dickey wrote a kids book called "Knuckleball Ned". It's about not fitting in with the screwballs and how that's OK. Seriously. My kid loved it.
It's not online, but I'd like to recommend this DVD to any Jays fan as it will have highlights of both the 92/93 World Series Champion Jays:
> I'm just as, if not much more, statistically aware than you - considering it's my day job to be ... It was a real hot streak.
Would you encourage guys at the craps table to increase their bets after they're on a "real hot streak"??
Variance/luck doesn't just mean that the fielders play good, or play bad, or that pitchers make more mistake pitches; it also means he squares up more balls than he usually does, times them better than he usually does, swings at better pitches, chases fewer bad ones, etc.
You're gonna have to do better than pointing to a handful of games as a sample size for one player before you declare hot streaks a real thing. People far more statistically capable than me or you have shown that there is no such thing as being "locked in". I would suggest reading "The Book" for a pretty good rundown on pretty much anything to do with baseball statistics. Two of the authors (Tango and Lichtman) have done further work after this to debunk the myth of the hot streak.
which app? I couldnt get it to work.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ticketmaster.mobile.android.na&hl=en
This one?
I had it installed and it kept asking for full root command on my phone and I kept denying it. It wouldnt get me to select or buy tickets UNLESS I give ticketmaster access to root.
I haven't put a lot of effort into understand what "At Bat Premium" gives you. Apparently I had access to it the last couple of years when I had MLB.TV premium. The only thing I used was the funny little animated view of the game which has a scoreboard, pitch tracker, etc. There are other features like radio streaming access, live look ins to games, video reviews (woo hooo!). The Android store version tries to detail it out: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bamnetworks.mobile.android.gameday.atbat&hl=en
Reading through, I still find it a little unclear what the killer feature of At Bat Premium is. If you subscribe to MLB.TV, you can watch all the games, archives of the games, etc, meaning there is little value for At Bat Premium. Maybe that's why they throw it in for free, since MLB.TV already includes most of the desired features.
