Convertible backpack -> messenger bag!
I would be willing to bet Nats Park will have no problem with something like that.
To the best of my understanding, there are no streaming rights to MASN currently. So no-one but can stream those games. I believe the current legal issues between Orioles and Nationals ownership with respect to MASN is preventing MASN from entering into new agreements, to the detriment of the fans.
If anyone knows of a legal way to stream MASN, I’d love to know about it.
Currently + Unlocator service gets me my games, but I miss the MASN post-game shows.
Love,
shmoo
I definitely recommend an antennae, just because it's a cheap one time expense for general over the air TV, but that won't help you with regular season Nationals baseball since MASN is the realm of cable.
An subscription will allow you to stream games, but living in DC you'll be subject to local blackout restrictions, so you'll need to use a service to mask your location to fool the block. I've used Unblock-Us and Unlocatr in the past with good results. Most of these services will offer a free trial you can test out for a game or two before committing to paying so you can get a sense of what works for you.
yes i agree it’s restrictive as hell and i don’t like it. i specifically recently purchased this bag (link below) from amazon which is roughly 5x7x1 and brought it in without an issue. i clipped it onto my belt loop. idk if it will fit your pen but maybe other stuff so you can carry the pen in in your hands. FWIW this is a nats specific rule - i went to yankee stadium over the weekend and their bag rules are far less restrictive.

I dumped Fios TV at the end of the 2018 season. This year I've shelled out a total of $124 to watch the Nats. $100 for and $24 for Unlocator. Simple DNS change on my laptop then I chromecast it to the TV. Works great except for minor interference when the microwave is running.
Can't speak for the others who do it, but this season I've got it set up so I can record the games from my cable with PVR software, and use my PC as a DVR. So for me, I have the game sitting on my hard drive as a video file; I just grab from that. Then I upload the video to Gfycat, nothing else needed.
I also live in Charlottesville and watched a bunch of games last year on via Unlocator, in past years I've used Unblock-Us. I share an account with a couple other people and have never had issues.
Edit: just realized you actually said Charlotte, durr. The point still stands!
I am NOT a meteorologist but as I check out the radar on accuweather, it looks like there will be rain over Washington DC at 7 pm. But it looks pretty clear after that, so maybe a rainy start or a delayed start but not a canceled game. But I could be wrong, I'm not an expert by any means! Just trying to help.
Okay... which one of you was this??? https://www.nationstates.net/nation=bryce_harper
You can't compete with The Federation of Harperated States
Not particularly good at this but I was trying to turn Robles celebration into a gif so I clipped the catch. It should be a fine substitution until someone comes along and does it properly
Use a DNS redirection service. Adfreetime stopped working for , so I had to switch to Unlocator. It’s $5 a month with a week free trial. Steps are:
1) Subscribe and log in once from a box on your network so they know your IP 2) Put in the DNS address Unlocator gives you into what ever box/device that you’re watching from. I use an Apple TV but they have instructions for everything
It’s better than a vpn because it doesn’t force all the video traffic through the connection which would slow you down.
I posted this as it's own link, but it's too funny to not post here, too. Fox Sports South just ran an ad (I live in Atlanta) getting fans pumped up to come to Turner Field tomorrow to watch the barves crush the Nats'... wildcard hopes. I suppose by giving them the division instead?
PS, if anyone's interested in digging into the numbers, here's the Airtable base I used to do the analysis:

No, Unlocator doesn’t help with respect to the app on iOS and/or Android. They use the device GPS to determine location, it appears. Unlocator does work with the app on devices and players with no GPS, such as AppleTV, Roku, etc…
Love,
shmoo
First off, OP, this is great. As a (presumably fellow) engineer I respect the solution building process on display.
That said, I just use the old fashioned VPN/Dad's password. Alternatively, I used to use Unlocator with my MLB account. That worked great but it was like 3 years ago so I can't promise it'll still work.
Thanks for asking. It's only on Google Play (Apple store early next week) and it can be found here
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mytravelbuddyapp.guide&hl=en_US
About 9 months ago I was on vacation with my wife. We went to London and Paris. Everything was great regarding food allergies until I got to Paris. I had some issues with the menu and the staff either didn't know or couldn't understand my question in English
Now Google has something that kind of does what this app does - but .....Google sells your data off*, and the app is a bit clunky and a few other things. Plus, I wanted to have a one-stop shop for my itinerary, to-do list, flight info (what gate/where's my luggage/is there a delay/ etc)
So, I made this. I made it free, with a few small ads. I'm going to (in the near future) make it that you can get rid of the adds for like $1.99 or something minimal just to cover my overhead costs.
Anyway, that's the long winded answer to a really short question. I'd love for some feedback too....I have a few other app ideas in mind and if this one takes off (or at least enough to cover overhead and break even) I'm going to keep on keeping on.
everything comes from somewhere and they're all true, think about it
EDIT: okay found it
The hourly forecast from Weather.com is not nearly as promising. It hasn't been pouring though so I hope they do still play. But maybe they should save Trea's return for tomorrow's dry weather.
I stayed in Melbourne for ST last year. Good restaurants seemed fairly limited, there were lots of chains and cheesy beach places, but Scott's On Fifth was excellent if you don't mind something a bit more expensive. Great food and wine in a nice setting:
I hope this isn't an omen...
> In 1993, his Giants led the National League West by 9.5 games on August 7 but ended up losing the division to the Atlanta Braves and missing the postseason. The Giants lost 12-1 on the final day of the season when a win could have forced a tiebreaking game with Atlanta for the division championship. In 2002, the Giants led the World Series against the Anaheim Angels 3 games to 2. San Francisco had a 5-0 lead in the seventh inning of the sixth game but allowed the Angels to score 6 unanswered runs in the seventh and eighth innings to win. The Angels also won Game 7 to win the championship. In 2003, Baker's Cubs led the National League Championship Series 3 games to 1 against the Florida Marlins. The Marlins stormed back to win the final 3 games of the series, including overcoming a 3-0 Chicago lead in the eighth inning of Game 6. In 2012, Baker's Reds led the National League Division Series 2 games to 0 against the San Francisco Giants. With the final 3 games of the series at home in Cincinnati, the Reds needed to win just once to advance to the National League Championship Series, but the Giants completed the comeback by winning games 3, 4, and 5 and went on to win the World Series. The Reds also suffered a six-game losing streak to end the 2013 season, including the Wild Card loss at Pittsburgh. Reds general manager Walt Jocketty admitted the team's latest collapse played a role in the decision to fire Baker.

I was pretty busy yesterday with Final Four and Caps shit so I couldn't watch the game (don't think it was on at the bar anyway) but I was able to get updates through my phone and I was disturbed by what was going on in the 8th inning.
I won't claim to watch every one of 162 games but what I can do is get a podcast after every game that analyzes what happened and provides insightful analysis. The Racing Presidents podcast is pretty good for this, I usually listen the next day and take in insight. Right now they are ripping into the team's poor 8th innings.
I use ExpressVPN through both an Amazon FireTV and PC. Works great most of the time. I was able to watch the Field of Dreams game by giving myself an international location.
The only time I've noticed it giving me trouble is if I launch MLB without the VPN turned on, then try to turn it on and relaunch the app. Seems like there might be some server-side location caching going on.
Unlocator has been solid for 3 years now. This is their entire business model. I already manage multiple servers and work in tech. I just want to watch baseball when I get home. $3/mo is enough for me to keep my peace.
While true VPN options obviously work, getting clients, like an Apple TV, or my tv to connect through them is a hassle. I set up unlocator once a year.
If you're cool using your phone, there's an app (at least for Android) called "Pro Baseball Radio" that streams radio broadcasts.
I still remember this fucking game when were rallying against Roy Halladay in the ninth. He struck out without ever lifting the bat off his shoulder. He can GTH.
This is kind of random, but I just noticed this line in this article.
"MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said he didn't think there is another big league ballpark where beer is served in cans."
Nats Park definitely does and I sure hope they don't take it away. Is Manfred wrong or is Nats Park actually unique?

Unlocator worked for me last season. They do 6 month subscriptions so its perfect for the season.
Only issue is it fucks other streaming services for some reason. I recall definitely having issues with Starz, and I think one or two other services.
Nope! They are jerks and you cant' do it. I have the student package combined with a Fire Stick and Unlocator. This is literally the only way to stream MASN without paying for cable and adding the local sports package.
> Unlocator service
Does Unlocater work on mobile devices to stream MLB At Bat app? I have a VPN already, and it works on my computer to stream Nats games via , but it does not work on mobile devices. I understand that the MLB At Bat app doesn't just use IP, it also uses some other location service on the device to determine where you are.
Just wondering if Unlocator bypasses this. Note that I looked on the website and it says it does, but wondering if you can confirm it.
Maybe they'll lift the blackout restriction this year? Guess they're doing this on the assumption of people wanting to watch the replay later on, otherwise this is worthless for 99% of STH. Unlocator worked for me last year
Renewed MLBTV again. Just signed up for Unlocator last night. Locked and loaded.
Also configured my MacBook to be able to proxy via port forward over an SSH tunnel back to my home Network which uses Unlocator for DNS. Will test it out in the hotel I’m staying at this weekend (in market).
Yeah I haven’t either, but it seems like a good chunk (correct me if I’m wrong) of the games will actually be televised on . I’m not sure if it’s worth it or not for an extra month but I’ll be paying for the yearly and using Unlocator and with Troop ID it’s only like $70 for the whole season. Way worth it to me to be able to say fuck you to Comcast and Angelos
[Zenmate]() is super reliable and safe to use. It's basically a proxy VPN, so you can tell it where you want your location to be (it gives you a list of countries). My company tells people to use it when we're troubleshooting network issues when people are having issues accessing their websites or the tools we provide for website hosting.
, NordVPN. MASN doesn’t get a cent of my money.
I got a cheap Wi-Fi router, and from there I connect to a NordVPN site (usually Los Angeles) and my streaming device (AppleTV, Roku) uses the Wi-Fi to trick the streaming device think it’s in L.A.
So I can watch every Nats game on my big screen, so fuck you MASN.
okay cool. thanks a lot for sharing this information. I found one on Amazon that goes down to 50 MHZ FM. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07T2CG8NG/ref=crt\_ewc\_img\_oth\_1?ie=UTF8&smid=AET9B0FNKDKRC&th=1
Currently I'm definitely for sure in St Louis, Missouri, and definitely not in an apartment owned by the Lerner corporation.
I would never watch baseball games from an apartment owned by the Lerner corporation as using a VPN provider such as NordVPN, TunnelBear, ExpressVPN, or SurfShark would not be in accordance with the agreement I agreed to with to never use a VPN provider such as those that are commonly advertised using promo codes for such web series as OverSimplified.
If that doesn't work,AM/FM Radios are so cheap these days. That's just a random one I found on Amazon. Anything like that is good. I turn off the TV sound and listen to C&D through mine. Enjoy!
Unlocator has been the best option for me too but so often it'll log me out and i can't log back in for a few days. I end up missing the first third of the game either fighting with it to login or just calling it a wash. Historically they've had issues on opening day so unsure how its gonna go this year
I've found the Unlocator Smart DNS is the best/easiest service to get around the blackouts. I have it setup on a gaming console that I use to stream , but you can also setup a laptop or any other device, or even at the router level for all devices on your network (other than phones/tablets, which require GPS verification).
Unlocator has worked for me, but it’s always a pain in the ass to start. First few days MLB has it locked down pretty well, then they get around it then MLB catches it again and so on. It’s a huge pain in the ass to be honest
> fire stick with kodi and the crew
Enlighten me please. What’s it do for you?
Unlocator has 2 products. Their DNS, and vpn. For appleTV mlbtv you only need the dns. So you’re not actually going through a vpn really. I got a crazy Covid deal and got their vpn and use that for stuff sometimes.
If unlocator doesn’t work for whatever reason I then use a fire stick with kodi and the crew, which is how I watch NFL games.
optimized gfy(html5 video) version of the gif
I usually use Bing Events to find tickets because it aggregates ticket sites. You can sort by price, or it tells you what the good deals are. Link for tonight's game for example
Well, the Nats and Dodgers left one on the table in 2011, but neither was in the race for a playoff position.
I think they would end up playing even if the 2 seed is settled, they wouldn't want to appear to give us an advantage of additional rest.
So I was mostly talking about the commemorative limited edition signed photos and things like that. I got a team signed photo of the Caps on-ice photo after they won the cup (signed by like 12 or so players). What I actually found out is some of the better stuff doesn't even make it to Fanatics' website. Because I bought that pricey Caps team photo, I made myself onto a mailing list for general sport memorabilia and in one of the mailers after the Nats won game 7, this nice collage of Max Scherzer was in there for "only" $500. I snagged on up. They have them for Zim and Soto as well.
Hi, I'm Dr. Z and many of you know me from my posts helping people with carpal tunnel syndrome and other hand pain conditions.

You don't even need a VPN. Just use a DNS service such as Unlocator. That's who I've been using for the last 4 seasons with barely any issues. I've lived in a blackout area the entire time. You can apply the DNS settings to your home router so that any device on your wifi or network can watch the game.
Don't even need a VPN. I use a DNS service called Unlocator. Simply change the DNS settings on your router and the whole house can stream the games. I've done this the past 3 years or so with this and free from T mobile. Lived in a blackout the entire time.
These are all fitted - I have a deep-seated aversion to snapbacks that I can't fully explain.
This one happened to come up on Amazon and still has quite a few sizes left - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003KFPI5O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_3JlpDbR4QGRGW
Ok maybe take with a grain of salt cause this is from reviewers on [Amazon]( https://www.amazon.com/Chicago-Cubs-2016-World-Collectors/dp/B01LRCDYM0/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=mlb+presents+world+series+champions&qid=1572630008&s=movies-tv&sr=1-2 ), but the difference seems to be the collector's set has the WS in it's entirety AND comes with the Nat's radio broadcast option. The singular DVD/Blu Ray seems to just be postseason and highlights. Hope this helps everyone!
Is it the one currently listed on Amazon set to be released tomorrow?

I use unlocator, which isn't a VPN but a DNS service. It is ridiculously simple to set up for your network, you just login to your router and add two IP addresses. Unlocator has easy to follow setup guides on their site
This is what I do too. I had used Unlocator but it had issues which prompted me to move to Yonder. You will have a handful of days where "shit happens" and you need to submit a ticket and they update some settings... Again, with 162 games, having 2 or 3 rocky days is worth the benefit of viewing my team in market because of a fucked up RSN and Orioles owner.
Like this one?
I think it could be this but customized with Nats cloth sewn in on the inside of the flippers.
You could, um, get a radio. They are pretty cheap these days. Or for fancy-pants listening, there's some FM earbuds that have a companion iPhone app for choosing the station.
I use Roku with app using to avoid the blackout restrictions. worked great last year and worked yesterday. You can also download an app called LazyMan for your computer to pretty much watch any mlb game for free (/r/mlbstreams for more info). has really good setup guides for the roku.
Yeah, I use it to watch on my Roku. And, recently, ESPN will not work with Unlocator activated. Annoying.
Edit: Apparently, there is a switch in the Unlocator settings to choose MLB or ESPN, as they will not work together.
Yonder is cheaper. I was having lots of issues with Unlocator this year. A few times games wouldn’t launch but unrelated things like ESPN, PGA Tour, and TuneIn (only certain stations). Got tired of trying to tell them their shit wasn’t working and Yonder just works thus far.
Use Private Internet Access (VPN) and while it can get around MLB blackouts without a problem, I've found most of it's endpoints are blocked by hulu, netflix, etc. I tested out a few VPN services as I wanted to use a VPN for all my home network traffic, and found that very few endpoints were not blocked. Just an FYI.
It's a cat and mouse game, for sure. I can't use Seattle's endpoint but San Fran's works great. I have much more luck with Canadian endpoints. Overall, pretty happy with ExpressVPN, though it's really the only service I've tried so far.
Yeah, AFT didn't work at the beginning of the year. Switched to Unlocator. Unlocator customer service is better than AFT, but you get what you pay for I guess. I'd switch back if I found out AFT was working again.
I use ExpressVPN. Works like a charm, though I can't use it for my Roku. There is a router-specific config that I haven't gotten around to trying, yet. Added bonus: I get around Hbonow and Netflix geographical restrictions, as well.
I should clarify, the MLBTV app is enforcing GPS to be turned on to determine blackout... Unlocator can't really help that when you are using the app as a different part of your phone is causing it to not work.
Unlocator gets spotty reviews. I initially bought adfreetime because the price was great and the reviews were friendly (it was invented by a redditor!). But then it started to have serious issues. MLBtv caught on, and netflix stopped working. I reached out to their customer service, and waited three weeks without response. They used to have a subreddit in which the developers would answer questions, and that randomly went private. I decided it was worth the extra money to get a better vpn.
I really like express vpn. They have always responded to my messages immediately, and it works really nicely if you run it straight through your router.
So I did do some research on this, here are your options:
*** Free: Download HolaVPN extension for Chrome (may slow you down a bit and you share your location P2P).
*** Cheap: Purchase AdFreeTime ($1.99/month) and go through the setup process (involves DNS settings).
*** Expensive: Purchase Unlocator for $4.99/month (faster and straightforward, but pricy).
Still looking for better options as I don't want to pay even more, but this seems to be what's out there for now.
I would go with unlocator if you have had bandwidth issues using the VPN. For casting you can set it up router side so any devices connected to your wi fi could access with no restrictions.
You can also just do single devices but I'm not sure if that works with chromecast. Unlocators site has guides for just about everything though.
You probably would have less issues with a paid VPN over the free ones, but I'm not positive.
Edit: forgot to comment about stream quality. I haven't had any trouble using either service, its always HD quality for me. Your connection speed may affect it though. I think I have 75 Mbps up and down for reference.
I've used both PIA (VPN) and (Smart DNS).
I think they're both about $5 a month, I'm already paying for so I don't really mind the extra $5 per month. You can try a free VPN but I wouldn't recommend it.
Unlocator basically just routes your traffic through their DNS servers and masks your location.
PIA you pick a city that is out of market to connect to. I usually use NYC.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Personally, I think that Private Internet Access is a nice investment for people with blackout issues. Besides, you can still listen to the games.
Also, if you're in Miami, you can use Fox Sports Go.
++VPN. I use "ExpressVPN" and it's about $30 for the rest of the season. It works reasonably well but has been glitch before.
I don't rely on it all the time because I also have cable, only when my roommate is using the TV
I tried to use Hola! for about a week. I couldn't stand it. So slow. I tried to get a game streaming about five minutes before scheduled first pitch--I didn't get any game action until about 12 minutes into the game. I kept having to reload because the full-screen option was being finicky and each attempted reload put me on the brink of a brain aneurysm waiting for it to load/dealing with the crashes. I finally sacked up and re-subscribed to Unblock-Us. Best $5/month I could ever spend.
I realize that in your situation if you only need it for series against the Braves Hola! is a much better option, but I just felt the need to rage against the extension. There's a reason it's free.
Go Nats!
I use Unblock Us. A lot of reddit users swear by Unlocator as well. They all offer the same thing pretty much. I would make sure they advertise MLB TV. Most of the reputable services offer free trials as well.
The wonderful thing about America is there is a totally different one for less than $22

Maybe just pick up a cheap radio? Do they still sell those?
But I think the audio-only MLB at-bat is pretty cheap. $20?

Send them for a road game weekend-- buy the tickets and a hotel night. Too bad the series with the O's is on weeknights but the Pirates series might be a nice treat.
