A whole book was written on this premise. Jennifer Government by Max Berry, the creator of NationStates, which was kind of a thing in 2004 or so. The book is excellent. You should read it.
Sorry, but it’s kind of hard for me to take seriously your arguments about how the political economy of fascism (economics being by far the topic of least interest to historical fascist movements and regime, hence often deferring their policies on that front to the ruling class that helped put them in power) is actually on “the left” when the political compass meme you’ve posted is from an online role-playing game
Quick update on Bernankeia:
Citizens became required to wear helmets at all times.
Bernankeia's Civil Rights fell from Below Average to Some.
The Bernankeian Economy fell from Strong to Good.
Average lifespan is 61 years.

I made this map of Mandate, a fictional capital of the developing nation of Mandira. https://www.nationstates.net/nation=greater_mandira Mandate is poor, has a population of 50 million, and is generally deregulated with extensive private developent.
I loosely based it off of Beijing and New Delhi. Criticism welcome, especially as to 'realism' Made in Inkscape!

Because y'all voted to have a capital city (albeit a privatized one that is also a theme park) we now also get to name the capital city of Bernankeia.
I will take suggestions now, and poll the top few upvoted suggestions either later tonight or tomorrow.
So, what should the name of our capital be?
!ping NATIONSTATES
EDIT: I'm not using phrases, it has to at least kinda sound like it could be the name of a city.
Desena is my Nationstates country which has been my largest worldbuilding project for years now, although it has gone through a couple complete overhauls. I decided to make this after the most recent one to get a better idea of how it's run.
Obviously modeled after the Venetian government, with a little bit of eastern influence. The chart itself is based off those used on Wikipedia, e.x. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Political_System_of_Germany.svg
No more issues for today, but based on your answers to the last couple issues, here's an update on our virtual nation:
Bernankeia was reclassified from a Civil Rights Lovefest to a New York Times Democracy.
Bernankeia's Civil Rights fell from Excellent to Very Good.
Bernankeia's Political Freedoms fell from World Benchmark to Superb.
New policies: Capital Punishment
We are also now in the top 5% of the world for "most primitive."
!ping NATIONSTATES
yay :) It's for the game NationStates. So it's not a map for a whole world, just a country/small region. The nation I'm building is a near-future, semi-Scandinavian social democracy.
I made a version of it with labels but I'm not entirely happy with it yet, I want to revisit it.
I recently revived my high school era country, to (what I consider) great success-- no prisons and no crime. https://www.nationstates.net/nation=asynto
The most fun part of the country's description is that it's all generated by government responses to issues-- I don't get to write what kind of government I have, how the people act, except by building it up over time. And it doesn't take a lot of time out of my day-- I don't participate in the forums. A wonderful diversion.
You may be interested in the dystopian novel, Jennifer Government where that's exactly how people are named. And Nike hires people to murder others to sell their shoes, and the police is entirely for-profit.
It's a good read. The online game Nationstates was part of the promotion for the book, if you remember that.
Just a reminder that people here should check out NationStates. You make your own country and get to answer a couple issues everyday to shape it. It's super low-key and hardly any time investment. We have our own Neoliberal region you can join - The Common Market
Some people in the discord decided to make a Neoliberal Region in the game Nationstates.
For those of you who don't know its a browser game where you roleplay as a leader of a country and make descisions that influence the prosperity of your country.
Come join us at https://www.nationstates.net/region=the_common_market
Nationstates is a country sim where you make countries according to your design (Socialist, Liberal, Fascist, Reactionary, your choice) and there are regions that act as groups for countries and can invaded by others countries and regions, in this case, a Nazi Region was conquered by an anti-fascist group.

I’ve been speculating what a Vatican 3 would sound like in addressing Vatican 2, confirming faithful interpretations of the documents and reexamining ambiguous or poorly implemented reforms/decrees. I’ve written the beginning of it here, if you would like to read it and critique anything
I’ve barely started but I’m trying to use it as a source for practicing creative writing.
Aside from issues relating to Vatican 2 and the modern crisis, it’d be nice to see issues surrounding the doctrinally continuity surrounding, as someone else mentioned, usury/slavery.
That's a shame that it's bad. The author makes a fairly fun online game called NationStates, and he seems to have a very good understanding of how multiple systems of government work... even if he does occasionally parrot some bullshit about unfettered capitalism making horrible inequality. Some of his solutions are very statist, but you always have the option of dismissing a political action, which I think is kinda awesome, because other solutions have very clear libertarian choices.
You can check out The Capan Islands, my little anarcho-capitalist country. Bonus points if you catch what the name means.

For national animal, currency, etc. I just took what I liked best out of y'all's suggestions. But if we feel strongly that we want to change any of them, we can always do so and I can put it up for a vote.
We'll do our first issue vote in a little while. In contrast to our last nation, I'll offer a short and sweet summary of the issue and options at the top of my comment, and then offer the full text below for anyone who really wants to read it. I hope we'll get more votes that way.

I've gotten pretty close to an anarchist type society. It's a left wing utopia, and I've gotten rid of the police and military. A long time ago I also was able to essentially hand the means of production over to the workers, though it still says that the government controls all the industry and funds healthcare, education, environmental stuff etc. The way I look at it the "government" is just the people at this point. Otherwise there are pretty much no classes, with the richest only making like 2,000 dollars more per year than the poorest. The economy is "Weak" but everyone is healthy and crime is low even without police.
I think that's just about as close as you can get. You gotta realize this game is called "NationStates". An anarchist state is kind of an oxymoron, and no matter what you do, you the player are essentially a sort of dictator that makes all the decisions.
I don't know if you can actually look at it, but this is my nation if you wanna take a look.

There used to be a game up called Nation States that I was hooked on for about a month where you are the leader of your own country and make decisions that heavily impact it.
I ended up losing my internet for a while and when I came back to it, my country had been destroyed by a giant tsunami or something because of inactivity lol
Edit: here's a link
Some first impressions.
Cheers, Orioni
If you want purely economics and no city building you can try democracy 2 or democracy 3. However if you change things very quickly you will get assassinated.
If you want to rule unopposed and run North Korea-esque state (which is not socialist or "socialistic") you could play the browser game Nation States. In the game you get to pass legislation (up to a maximum of two per day) which take effect the following day.
Cities skyline barely has any economic decisions and you can't oppress society (at least in vanilla).
In NationStates, last year some friends and I had a region of about 15 people that we would chat on during school on our chromebooks...Until they blocked it. It was really sad seeing all these countries die out over the summer :(
here's the link if anyone wants to read our legacy.
Nice!
NationStates :D I got back into it earlier this year, after taking something like 5 years off. Now it's my daily 'escape' at work like a smoke break.
Mine is The United Socialist States of Archonius. My flag is inspired from a Soul Coughing album cover.
Possibly because of this dispatch? https://www.nationstates.net/page=dispatch/id=1549850
It’s yours and you linked it on the TNP rmb less than a day ago and said in the post that you “literally made a trash story about a Costelian struggling to find peace through broken humour and other trash.”
I can’t say for sure but the dispatch was deleted so I’m wondering if something in there was the reason.
So I decided to make this into a real thing
Behold, the actual Federation of Turkelistan!
Already turned into a anarchy, things are looking bright!
u/sepultallica9 advised me to post this here :-)
This was created by me in MS Paint for an alternate history project which I had been working on and off on in Nationstates like five years ago. Original (and some more maps) can be found here.
The Issue
While in The Ivory Tower Airport on your way to a major diplomatic summit, you observe a morbidly obese man arguing with customer service after being charged for two seats because he simply could not fit into one. Unfortunately, in the middle of the kerfuffle he happened to notice you.
The Debate
“I demand you weigh in on the matter of airline seats!” angrily states the plus-sized man while waddling into your entourage. “Here’s some food for thought: studies have shown genetics play an over-sized role in a person’s weight. Disability law needs to be expanded to acknowledge this! I may have some love handles, but I’m still just one person. I shouldn’t have to pay for two seats.”
“Although Rneoliberalian Air is happy to accommodate all legitimate disabilities,” states Oprah Yates, a big shot Rneoliberalian Air executive, “obesity simply doesn’t fit the bill. People who can’t squeeze into our seats should examine their life choices. Besides, if Rneoliberalian Air just gave complimentary seats to everyone who asked, our profits would fall faster than a plane in a stall.”
“I have an idea!” exclaims Winston Eliot, founder of Walking Big and Tall, an obesity acceptance group. “Why don’t we just force airlines to make their seats a bit wider? That way, everyone can fit in their seats, and we won’t have a problem. I mean, sure there will be lost efficiency as less seats will be able to fit in the cabin, but that’s the price we must pay for equality!”
“We should charge by the kilogram,” suggests Calvin Márquez, who also happens to be a famous horse jockey. “The weight of the plane ultimately determines whether it can take off and how much fuel it consumes. If I get charged for carrying excess baggage on board, it should be the same for people.”

Charliber is a fictional nation I made up (more information available here ), and the reason that they own Murmansk is explained in the mod: they had to flee their original territory due to severe natural disasters and were able to negotiate temporarily borrowing some land from the Soviet Union and the Nordics (this second part plays into their focus tree; I recommend you just try the mod). Edit: fixed a typo
It's pretty amusing in the NationStates thing how so many of our region' states with top ranks in various categories have 90%+ average income tax rates, eg. Americanada. Sorry, hardcore libertarians.
For a quick synopsis;
The colors of black and yellow are important to the culture of Western Pennsylvania (my nation is named West Sylvania. The symbol around the border of the circle at center is to represent a Pansy, a symbol of freethought. The flower at center is a bit of a redundancy, to be fair, as it is also a pansy.
To be honest, I just really liked the color/imagery balance there and went with it. There are plenty of real world flags with little or no rational for their imagery, and I choose to join that club.

Due to the recent capture of a foreign terrorist in Rneoliberal, high-level military officials want the government to authorize torture to extract information about other terrorist activities.
The Debate
“Torture is the only way that we can get these idiots to tell us anything,” says General Agnieszka Ho of Rneoliberal’s special forces division. “After all, violence is the only shared language we have with these scum.”
“Are you kidding?” states political activist Declan Payne. “Torture never works. If anything, it should be outlawed. What do we want to become, genocidal maniacs?”
“There’s nothing wrong with torture, but we can’t make it too obvious,” says Secretary of Defense Kanya Wang. “How about we simply ask them nicely, and then, if they don’t tell us, we kill them? That’s better just from the intimidation.”

The Issue
Fewer and fewer people attend the Rneoliberal City Opera House, largely because the younger generation and the common man consider the shows archaic and boring. The once packed auditorium now struggles to fill seats, and it is nowhere near turning a profit. Without help, the Rneoliberal City Opera House is likely to close its doors.
The Debate
“Empty spaces, what are we living for? Abandoned places, I guess we know the score,” melodramatically declares singer-songwriter Teddie Hercules. “If Rneoliberal loses opera, then we lose the very soul of our culture. Some things are bigger than money, and I’m not just talking about the leading tenor’s waistline. I insist that we establish a Rneoliberalian Arts Council to fund the opera and ensure that talented mezzos and baritones can survive, no matter the cost. The show must go on, go on...”
“No problem, I can Handel the funding for you,” suggests TV-producer Ellie Glover, while spreading out before you possible contracts for various TV programs. “Here are ideas for live elimination shows, dating shows, and celebrity-studded musicals to take place in that lovely building downtown. I’ve got a vision of big money, big drama, big entertainment, big merchandise, and big ratings: I call it Bopera. It’s a big yes from me. Give my venture cultural-exemption tax status, and I’ll keep the opera house’s doors open.”
“Waste of good land,” succinctly concludes property developer Johann Moneypenny. “This is prime city centre real estate that could be upscale housing and a parking lot. I mean, what would you rather do: sit through six hours of fat people in ridiculous viking helmets singing in a language you don’t understand, or cut time off your commute to work?”

One day your flag will look like this.
You will have answered 1000 problems and yet your citizens will never be happy.
You will have gone from being a Centerist Democracy to a Father-Knows Best state to a Captializt Paradise, and all the way back.
You will have a GDP in the mega-trillions and gladiators running about your speed-limitless streets collecting thought-criminals for the gulag.
Any the worst part is that the whole time, the whole darn time, you were trying to do the right thing.
Welcome to Nationstates. Where the jerks are rich, and the nice ones become jerks eventually.
That's nothing! I finally got mine back to outlawed, powerhouse, and outlawed. I'm quite proud. Such a bitch every time I accidentally legalize voting.
Predator was a script that some (many?) raiders used to bypass non-API requests to get legally impossible update times for regions which they would use to invade other regions. This led to the demoralisation and eventual crumbling of the defender side of the meta-game since it was impossible for them to keep up, and therefore the whole Gameplay meta itself.
Here's a good post about it: https://www.nationstates.net/page=dispatch/id=594930
The rules for non-API requests are that you can't send more than 10 requests every minute, but Predator was sending more than 1 every second giving them amazing precision on update times. This script was also purposefully masked (it had no user agent indentifier [whatever that is]), which made it difficult for the moderators to understand exactly what the script was doing. There's some other dodgy stuff to bypass rules that it did too--you can read up on that yourself. Also, Predator was being run from a delete-on-site player's (Halcones) server.
I don't really care about the citizens rights/political freedoms, as I enjoy running an oppressive nation, so right now I'm focusing on the economy, while trying to keep a socialist mindset. I myself am not a socialist, but I'm trying my best to run a USSR-styled, right-wing country, just for the hell of it (even if I look like a complete idiot with no knowledge of politics).
Environment is shit, aiming to be as patriotic as possible, and always keeping faithful to <insert religion here>. Oh, and war, too. Who doesn't like war?
It's an online simulation game where you create your own country and manage its policies. I used to play it all the time, but it can get quiet boring since you only get a few issues to solve every day, and you end up getting the same events after a while. https://www.nationstates.net/
Okay... which one of you was this??? https://www.nationstates.net/nation=bryce_harper
You can't compete with The Federation of Harperated States
I absolutely love the detail of it! How did you go about making it? Also, if you are interested in expanding your nations factbook page, I highly recommend looking at this NS tag list, as it certainly helped me:
pro tip: you can gain levels more rapidly by selecting matchmaker on the challenge home page. it will randomly set you up against a country with a similar rank rather than picking on the weaker countries in tSAW.
I know this is solved but
is a fun online game thing where you run a country and the decisions you make tell you what kind of country you run and how your population is growing.
I've been a little more time on NationStates recently as a result of quarantine. It's something to do.
Do we have a neoliberal region? And does anybody want to share their factbooks? I'm looking for some good templates to improve mine.

First off that’s an amazing flag. Anyways a Colony in the future(after 4th Era 201) would be possible but a Colony in the 3rd era probably wouldn’t. Hey, this particular flag idea was imagined by me and described to u/pedal_pete who drew it. It was for my nationstates nation state several years back. The original had the black and white "hands", but the rest was my favorite shade of red. With my permission he updated the design with these colors.
Up until this contest it never even occurred to me that it might be a troublesome design!
The idea behind it was for the black and white stripes to show diversity and cooperation and portray hands holding one another, each different. The red was just red, there were no commie undertones apart from the nation being called Noster (latin for Our), and, well, some other stuff. (The only thing remaining from it are these three dispatches outlining the nation: Fluff text on nationstates.net)

Rneoliberal has been hit with the worst drought in a hundred years; as a result, thirsty citizens and a growing number of brown lawns are pleading for a government response.
The Debate
“We have no choice but to ration water,” says Vandal Vega, Chief of the The Ivory Tower Department of Public Works. “We can’t afford to let what little water we have slip through our fingers. We must clamp down on how much water each person is allowed to use. If our more wasteful citizens complain because they’ll have to actually think about how much water they pour down the drain, all the better for the rest of us.”
“You think too small,” sighs Foreign Secretary Billy-Bob Cooper, between sips from a sparkling bottle of gourmet dihydrogen monoxide. “Rneoliberal may be short on water, but the rest of The North Pacific has water to spare! Why not just import the water from abroad? Sure, it’ll cost money, but what’s worth more to the people of Rneoliberal, a little tax money or their most basic physical needs? Our neighbors wouldn’t dream of cutting off the water, right?”
“This drought is a warning sign sent by our Creator!” shouts a strangely familiar-looking man who has just walked in from the desert clad in camel hair and sandals. “If this nation will only turn from its wicked ways and hearken unto our God, surely He shall grace us with water once more!”

A monstrous debate between pro-life and pro-choice groups has erupted after a high-profile case of a pregnant woman aborting her foetus because she ‘didn’t feel like it’ hit the tabloids.
The Debate
Hamlet Santos, lawyer for the woman known only as Miss X, says, “It is Miss X’s right to choose! It’s her body; she can do whatever she wants with it. In the interest of women’s rights, abortion MUST be legal throughout the country!”
“I most vehemently disagree,” says Marina Armstrong, a pro-life activist. “I’m all for women’s rights in general, but what about the child? Does it have no rights either? Abortion is totally immoral and I insist that it be outlawed except in cases of rape, or when the mother’s life is in danger.”
“You’re not going far enough! Abortion is murder!” shouts Reverend Silvio Gennaro, waving a placard with a picture of a foetus on it. “God decides which babies live and which will die, not us! The government must maintain a stern anti-abortion stance to preserve the morality of Rneoliberal!”
“Abortion has to be legal if we’re going to last as a nation,” says Archibald Merkel, President of the Society of Bitter Old People. “Have you ever thought that with Rneoliberal’s growing population of 246 million, we soon aren’t going to be able to squeeze any more people within our borders? If we use abortion to control the population, we’ll make great savings and can spend the money elsewhere. One child per family should just about do it I think. Extraneous ones can be sold to other countries.”

A man by the name of &%*\@# Smith hit the headlines yesterday when he had his first name legally changed to ‘John’, citing the ridicule and stress he suffered because of his given name. Mr Smith publicly commented afterwards that there should be more restrictions on what parents can name their children.
The Debate
“People do so love to be different,” says Insert Name Here, with a heavy sigh. “I don’t know what my folks were thinking when they named me. Probably about how ‘novel’ and ‘with it’ they were being, but I didn’t get a say in it did I? Growing up in my neighbourhood with the first name ‘Insert’ wasn’t fun at all I can tell you! The government should set up a registry of recognised names that are clean, sensible, and non-teasable. Kids deserve better.”
“It’s none of the government’s business what I name my daughter,” says Follicle Rainbow Gooseknob, cradling [expletive deleted] in her arms. “Are you going to tell us what to think next? Where to go? Who to love? I don’t want some grey-faced bureaucrat deciding what name is appropriate for my child! What kind of country hates personal freedom so much you can’t even choose your own name?”
“Names? Names are so inefficient!” says Five-Oh-Three McGoohan, counting beads. “Who can honestly tell one Heather Rifkin from another? That name’s so popular now, I met three people at the mall with it just last week! Face it! Names are old-hat! Everyone ought to go by a government-allocated ID number instead, much more practical. Who could make fun of a child named Six-Eight-Four?”

After another movie season dominated by sequels, remakes and spin-offs, cinema buffs have come to your office begging for action.
The Debate
“What happened to the classics of days gone by?” rhetorically questions renowned film critic Robert Sherbert. “The Rneoliberalian movie industry used to be known for such masterpieces as ‘The Modfather: Part One’, ‘A Clockwork Violet’, and ‘Once Upon A Time In The West Pacific’, not the drivel they’re putting out these days. If studios want to release films in Rneoliberal they should give us something original.”
“I didn’t become a director to make films like ‘Rise Of The Planet Of The Cdstephens Revisited’,” gripes Marina Lennon. “But it’s all the studios will sanction. It’s such an expensive business making movies, and given the risks it’s no wonder we play it safe. Perhaps if the government were to underwrite our projects, I’d finally get a chance to finish ‘Heaven’s Door’.”
“Haha!” chortles Warwick Scheer, while watching ‘Mad Max vs. Jar Jar Binks 2: The Unrated Edition’ on his smartphone. Shovelling another handful of popcorn into his mouth, he turns to interject, “Oh my god, this is the best part, guys. Will you keep quiet back there?”

The red and blue with the ushanka is the Socialist Federal Republic of the Philippines, and the one with the black-white-purple tricolor is the Vedorian Federation (later called Cayenne Minor).
These two are part of an alternate world where me and a couple of friends just rewrite history a little bit and try to make cool stories out of them through roleplay.

The flag is a horizontal tricolor of Red, yellow, and blue, with a circle containing six stars and an Ermine, a symbol of peace and wellbeing, with a ring around the circle. The red represents bravery and valor, the yellow represents the sun, and the blue represents the surrounding ocean. The six stars represent the six administrative districts, and finally the ring symbolizes the Ring of fire, where the island lies.

Here's my online nation, Safj. It's a game I've been playing since 2004. This year is my 15th anniversary, so I wanted a new flag design for the occasion.
I used Tennessine for the design. Then I added the silhouette in MSpaint. I already feel like I want to improve upon this design
The yellow torch with a blue backrgound symbolises libertarianism. I think it's a nice contrast to the communist Soviet Union.

Basically decide on how your universe will work. Will you use magic based systems? Technology? Then think about how you want the universe will be. Is it far into the future? Is it an alternate history? Or maybe even thousands of years in the past? Decide on these, then start by building up the structures, societies, worlds, nations etc. of the universe.
It should be said that you can take it however you'd like, you obviously don't have to do it this way. Hell, I didn't even do it. Wintermoor, my project, literally began as a few friends and I starting a region on Nationstates, then building lore around our nations. From the nearly three years of the project, I've learned that we probably could have been a lot more structured in the past, but nonetheless we still made something to be proud of, and so can you and anyone else!
Also, check out the guys over at /r/worldbuilding if you haven't, they've helped me out so much whenever I hit a roadblock or can't think of how I should go about a certain project.
I have a bit of a bonus issue that our virtual nation needs to sort out.
As those of you who have used NationStates before know, we have the option to join a sort of simulated United Nations called the "World Assembly."
Joining would mean we will automatically be put in compliance with their 439 resolutions passed so far (browse them here) as well as any future resolutions they pass (though we could also leave at any time if we find a particular resolution especially objectionable.)
So - should we apply to join the World Assembly?
!ping NATIONSTATES
That's crazy. Well, the region is The Alterran Republic, and my nation there is Aygothantu. Here's a discord link to the server.
As of last night, Rneoliberalia was officially reclassified from an "Inoffensive Centrist Democracy" to a "Capitalist Paradise". In celebration, enjoy this sneak preview of Real Neoliberal Hours.
The Issue
An organized crowd of leather-clad individuals, some of whom are on leashes, are protesting against discrimination for those who share their interests.
The Debate
“We happen to express our love differently, with different hobbies and activities,” explains BDSM enthusiast Kirby Grieg, while wearing needle-sharp spiked heels and holding a whip. “Shops exist to cater to the needs of ‘normal’ people, but do you have ANY idea how hard it is to get a quality whip? A little support for our hobbies would be appreciated!”
“Yeah,” exclaims Renee Mumford, another enthusiast, wearing nothing but a collar, “and like other couples, we want the right to display our affection in public. If Master wants to take me walkies in public, he should be able to.”
Zeke Tarkin dissents wholeheartedly. “This is not about showing affection—this is about moral decency. Think of the children, for God’s sake! Think of the children! We must criminalize and eliminate this perversion to keep them safe. Which of course means a special task force to track down and capture these cretins!”

The Issue
A recent video shoot of newly sworn-in cabinet ministers being broadcast on live TV was disrupted by an enthusiastic but loud vuvuzela-player busking nearby. Most viewers reported they couldn’t hear a word being spoken over the noise. This incident has raised some smiles, but also sparked a debate over busking in general.
The Debate
“NOISY PESTS!” yells inner city resident Velma Barber, straight into your left ear from just two feet away. “While I’m trying to get my beauty sleep at 3 in the afternoon, I’m being disturbed by moronic musicians, talentless thespians and hopeless harlequins! They’re just beggars, but with added irritation and noise. Ban busking! Lock up these feckless fools!”
“Eish! Em not justa musician, mos,” protests Asok Goldsmith, the busker in question, “Em a one-man entertainment experience, with Hlokoloza dancing for the bokkies an’ gooses, crazy naartjie juggling and even face painting for the laaities! Surely busking adds a bit a music and colour to life, nè? The government should pay buskers to be on every street. Let’s make everyone’s life happier now now!”
“I know a way we could make both sides happy,” remarks your Minister for Fine Arts, Natalia Morgan, pressing play on her cassette of patriotic anthems to create the right mood. “We could introduce national performance licenses, and only allow public performance by those who have attained a certain standard. As a nice side effect, this will let us make sure that our nation’s culture is both highbrow and patriotic.”

I was updating my nation's aesthetics, so I started yesterday on updating the COA to reflect on the new flag design. You can see the old COA at my nation's Wiki, which was created with the help of a friend (because during that time I didn't know yet about heraldry), he gave me help on how to design the full achievement during that time.
[P.S. Can you help me blazon this? Thanks!]
The Issue
An anonymous society of ‘cinematic aficionados’ have brought the debate over the proposed disposal of the watershed, the hour after which adult material is allowed to be shown on television, to your attention.
The Debate
“We don’t need a watershed!” scoffs ‘romantic-movie’ buff, Arnold Ho. “I don’t see why I should wait ‘til way past midnight to watch my preferred film genre. It’s high time that parents stopped treating their children like... well, children! If you sugar-coat these kids’ lives, they’ll just end up seeing everything through rose-tinted glasses - and we can’t have a country filled with spoilt brats now, can we?”
“This is an endorsement of bad taste if ever I saw it,” says Eve Payne, a child-care worker. “It’s just wrong to subject children to graphic violence and nudity on afternoon television like this: who knows what it might possess them to do? We’ve all heard stories of kids who have seen some film where someone jumped off a cliff and then gone off to have a shot themselves. We must ban all violent and salacious material from our TV screens. If only to protect the innocence of our progeny!”

It's time to LARP as Californians in the bygone era of 2003.
The Issue
Rneoliberal City media has been abuzz with gossip that Harold Weissenegger, a former bodybuilder and action movie star turned politician who immigrated from Smalltopia at a young age, is set to run for Parliament in the upcoming election. With Weissenegger already ahead in early polls, the legality of an immigrant running for office has been brought into question.
The Debate
“You can’t allow this,” protests Michelle Barber, currently a distant second in the polls. “I’ve put fifty years of my life into this country, all to see a Smalltopian barbarian muscle in on what should rightfully be my job? If we don’t take action now,” she continues grimly, “who’ll stop him when he’s after your job?”
“Why stop there?” queries Ksenya Goldsmith, chairperson of the Rneoliberalian Nationalist Workers Party. “Immigrants are a danger to our society and cannot be trusted! Letting them in this country is one thing, letting them RUN it is an entirely different story. That’s why we should ban immigrants like this ‘Eradicator’ from being police officers, judges, lawyers, or indeed any job that creates, interprets, or enforces the law!”
“I live here, work here, pay taxes here... well I live here,” monologues Mr Weissenegger after smashing your door down for dramatic effect. “So there’s no problemo with me running for office.” As he tramples out of the splintered doorway, his last words are carried to you: “Or I’ll be back.”

It's a fictional country I run in a game called NationStates here. The flag itself is greatly inspired by the flag of Kuwait, but with changes that more represent the style of the country. The symbol to the left represents the region that the country is located in.
Alright everyone, it's real NationStates hours
NationStates (NS) is a game where you can create your own country, answer issues that are affecting it, and participate in regions with other countries.
Make a nation and join my new region
https://www.nationstates.net/region=nations_without_borders
"but I already have 1!!"
Move. Or just make a second nation, that's allowed too.
Let's make Nations Without Borders take over.
If your country had a substantial population (More than a billion) they're considered an ancient Nation. That means that even if they're deleted after thirty days, you can revive them so long as you remember the password. Source: Revived my nation, like, six times.
Consider looking into this website/browser based game, NationStates - https://www.nationstates.net
If you want to use this for education, there are ways to make a country individually, in groups, or as a shared class. After making some decisions for your country (via an intro survey and some aesthetic choices for flag design, etc), countries are given issues to analyze and make a decision on, affecting the countries' growth, economy, and political and civil rights.
Each issue will have differing viewpoints. An example issue might be, people are concerned about your country's iconic animal population. One viewpoint might suggest "we should set aside wide areas of land for national parks using tax money," another might say "who cares about animals, we can use that land for industry!", and another side might argue "we should protect all of nature, and heavily reduce any industries that pollute or damage the environment!" - most viewpoints are extreme views for complex issues.
I've used this in a small class scenario, where the students get into small groups and openly debate the merits of the choices. They can speculate as to what could happen if a decision is made, and offer advantages and disadvantages of the choices involved. The group must come to a consensus how to proceed with each issue, and face the repercussions of their choices in their national narrative.
It's a great free resource just for ideas, of scenarios and topics for debate. It's role-playing, without the need for traditional role playing tropes (dice, stats, etc) while looking deeply into the idea of how different countries can develop. The language as written on the website is better geared toward more advanced learners, but you can simplify the language involved if you wanted.
Today we Face problems and legal issues that the originaters of the Bible did not even have the words to describe the fact that they didn't have the words to describe the problems. So by default it would be a very primitive Nation, without laws governing things like copyrights or intellectual property or digital interactions, or civil rights. The closest thing you could point to would probably be those areas of the Middle East that have fallen under strict fundamentalist Sharia law.
But you could simulate it. Go to https://www.nationstates.net/ and sign up. Create your own country. Then whenever a decision needs to be made, choose the most religious option in line with fundamentalist belief. I was just talking to somebody earlier today and joking about creating a second Nation for myself to do exactly that and see how long it takes for the nation to descend into a barbaric hellscape.
This can be related to multiple factors. Either a lack of environmental protection, support for nuclear weapons, mistreatment of employees, absence of safety regulations, etc. Should you want to lower the number of deaths caused by exposure, these are the areas where I would look to vote. It may take you a while to get there. I'm not sure what the averages are, since NS does not provide global statistics on this. (Perhaps this is an idea for future game updates.)
Cheers, Orioni
Some people in the discord decided to make a Neoliberal Region in the game Nationstates.
For those of you who don't know its a browser game where you roleplay as a leader of a country and make descisions that influence the prosperity of your country.
Come join us at https://www.nationstates.net/region=the_common_market
There is also a Discord Channel in the official /r/Neoliberal Discord if you have any other questions!
From what I can see you are indeed at 87.54 MLK units. There could be multiple reasons why this has not yet increased.
Do let us know how thing evolve. For a relatively new nation of 96 million, you already are in the top 3% worldwide (ranked 3976th).
Hi there. To be honest, I'm actually kinda glad you stuck around NS long enough to get bored with the issues. :) Those really are the beginner's entrance point into the game.
A while ago I wrote a dispatch explaining how to get started in NationStates, taking into account three different levels.
Sure sounds like you're no longer a beginner, and ready for the next level. You can read my dispatch here on getting started in NationStates.
If you were to include a Pacific Ocean, please make it the "/r/NationStates Pacific Ocean". More info over at www.nationstates.net, with 5 million in February 2017.
Best way to learn is through experience. I see someone else suggested a defender for you to contact already, so I'll suggest a raider. Telegram We Are Not the NSA of HYDRA Command and I'll show you. https://www.nationstates.net/region=hydra_command
Holy shit. It's literally a copy paste of the last one. I had to add the links in the resolution. It's possibly the worst resolution I've seen.
Congratulations on starting your region! I'm sorry to say I won't be moving as I'm high in another region's government, but nonetheless here are a few tips:
By the way, it's impossible to unseat a Founder as long as the nation remains, so don't worry about that.
The decisions are all up to you, naturally. Good luck!
It does:

There's a map link on that link, but I'll link it here too:

My nation, Plebeianum is a nation that is part of a game we play at school. At school, we set up a fake government to rule our lunch table (sounds fun, I know), and this nation is a result of the continuation of that game. The NationStates-ified version of that game's history can be found in my factbooks or on our region homepage. Read the Factbooks for more info on my nation.
Currently we're staunch Democratic Socialists, who are sorta-atheist and are trying everything they can to bring up the economy.
Another delay, hooray for finals /s
Anyway, this just seems like a continuation of the drama surrounding the The Red Fleet. A military group of Communists, socialists, etc. Who act as a military arm for many regions.
The votes against tally makes me wonder. Does the red fleet really have this much support or are people just sick of seeing them on the WA/Security council resolutions?
P.S. please lobby for less links in the resolutions.
