With FXAA? Really?

I've been running it for months and have never had a single problem. Granted, I wrote a custom FXAA file that I think looks perfect.

My files are here, in one zip file.

Instructions:

• Step 1: download the shit attached in this email
• Step 2: open origin, go into settings, and disable origin in-game (if you don't do this, you won't be able to toggle the FXAA on and off)
• Step 3: open the .RAR, dump the contents into your BF3 dir
• Step 4: replace the injFX_settings.h with the one I've attached
• Step 5: Kill people, use "Pause/Break" to toggle on/off

Your information is extremely outdated. As per hashcat's performance benchmark you can attempt over 7 billion passwords per second of MD5, and that's just on a regular computer with one graphics card. Let us assume the character set is lowercase and uppercase characters along with 12 special characters, giving us a nice character set size of 26+26+12 = 64.

Then, an 8 character password takes 64^8 / (7 * 10^9) seconds which is about 11 hours. This is with a desktop PC with a single GPU, mind you. It is also using a brute force search which is not necessary for the vast majority of passwords due to dictionary attacks. Most MD5-hashed passwords are cracked in mere seconds unless they are very long and have a large character set as well as a password that is not susceptible to dictionary attacks.

MD5 was considered broken years ago and should never be used. Compare the 7 billion hashes per second to a modern algorithm such as bcrypt, which hashcat can perform slightly over 4000/second. And that does not get into the areas of cryptanalysis (analysing how an algorithm works to try to find weaknesses or prove strengths). See, for instance, this article.

Finally, note that salts are useless when attempting to crack a single password. Their strength lies in preventing techniques such as rainbow tables from extremely effectively cracking hundreds or thousands of passwords. Cracking a single password is not any more difficult with or without a salt. Also, I am not an expert so don't take my word on the above, educate yourself!

EDIT: That is not to say that Battlelog is susceptible to this. I am merely stating that MD5 is broken and should never be used.

This bit is about a TV host that says his bosses wanted him off tv so he explains it's all a conspiracy where they put him in the room with these people with extremely weird voices (because of surgeries gone wrong). I think it reduces hip-fire spray and at really close quarters semi-blinds the enemy.

In the alpha, where the laser was pointing had nothing to do with where the first bullet would go. It followed the graphical gun model which didn't always match the simulated gun model. This was really noticeable with the LMGs with bi-pods deployed: the laser would be pointing way farther right than the crosshairs/bullets.

Edit: You should probably ask Demize99 or Alan Kertz the lead gameplay developer that is super helpful and gives out alot of info.

Yes, yes it does. The responsiveness of aiming is doubled. Your input is able to be processed 60 times per second compared to 30 times. You can certainly notice fluidity. Ill actually record you a 60 FPS video at 1080p and upload it so you can see what you are missing. I wont even upload it to youtube, which locks the framerate at 30 FPS. I will put it on a direct file share sight so you can see it 100% quality, 100% framerate, just make sure you have a 60hz screen that is 1920x1080.

Edit: Uploading now. I recorded some sweet video, but its 11.6 GB, and I'm sure you don't want to download that. Now its sime random shennanigans at 1.16 GB, should be quick enough.

It's far better to understand the ballistics for your weapon in order to aim correctly.

All you need as a range finder is to see the rough size of your target. You use the size of your target against the pips on your scope in order to gauge distance to target, with experience you know where to aim for what distances based on this.

Sidenote: modern PC video cards have HDMI capability, so it is a snap to connect a gaming PC to an HDTV if you so desire. Add a wireless KB/Mouse and some sort of tray/board to hold them in your lap, and you can game comfortably from your favorite couch/chair.

I am going a step further and running a ~30 foot HDMI cable from my TV on the 1st floor to my gaming PC in the basement. Add a program like InputDirector and with a laptop (plugged into a wired KB/mouse) in your living room you can suddenly get the best of a dedicated gaming PC in your man cave and being able to enjoy certain games on an HDTV in another room without investing in 2 gaming PCs, compromising with a console, OR having to tolerate a PC taking up room next to your entertainment center. PKP has highest damage per bullet yes. It also has the fastest time to kill except at ~ 20 meters where the m240B passes it up.

Looking at the page source, it loads the original Battlelog inside an iframe, so if it displays the login page within the iframe he shouldn't have access to your login data unless you are using a very old browser.

Battlefield 4 Premium Edition is $30 too. it includes the game and premium. I know some of us like 3 better but i thought i would throw it out there for those interested.

Arma 3 comes out soon. Look into it. The game area trumps battlefield's by a MASSIVE margin. It comes out supposedly in Q4 of 2012 (this year).

Change your passwords on a computer that isn't the one you normally log in with. Better yet, change it on a computer running a Linux Live USB or OSX. Small market share, much bigger change they're clean.

That's about the best answer I can find. So yes it will utilize multiple cores, but as to how well it distributes the load across those cores we'll probably have to wait until the beta comes out.

That said, having more processing threads helps in other ways by preventing programs from stealing CPU time from the game.

Personally with a 980x I'd be more concerned with what video cards are involved, they're much more likely to be breaking a sweat.

That's how it should work in theory, but the SMGs are more or less equal to the Assault Rifles at all ranges in BF3.

I had some free time and physics sounded more fun then revising my essay, so here's my data and analysis

Unlike the OP, I factored in a constant horizontal velocity determined by measuring the pixels of the minimap (which was actually quite accurate at 2.17px/m after many trials) This gave me a terminal velocity somewhere a little above 74.5 m/s

I am in the beta for Planetside 2, and DICE/EA have a shit ton to worry about.

They are talking to the community on a daily basis and making updates once a week. The fraking President of Sony Online Entertainment is a very active poster on reddit, the ps2 forums and plays the game everyday as well. After spending a week in that game I can see that they are trying to do pretty much everything the BF community has been begging, pleading and crying for.

You can ask them on Twitter for a key to the beta, they give them out all day long now.

While the direct damage is the same, the outcome and quality is not. You can kill someone in only 75% of the time with the F2000 as with the AK-74 starting gun. That's a pretty big deal / difference, considering that if you're both firing at each other the surviver might only have 3% hp..

If I'm interpreting it correctly, this benchmark makes Bulldozer look bad.

The 2600k is not slightly faster than the hex-AMD at gaming, but much, much, much faster. (Does anyone know of reliable BF3 CPU benches?)

In this benchmark, all three chips are very close to each other. That's because it's GPU-limited - the CPU basically doesn't matter due to the resolution, graphical settings, and choice of graphics. In such a situation, significantly slower CPUs can actually come on top by minor amounts.

I'm hoping this is a fake and that the situation I described isn't true.

Is this a laptop? Those mobile cards are highly deceiving. Nvidia and ATI have the tendency to be very misinforming on purpose when it comes to their numbering.

Don't listen to this guy, he doesn't have any idea what he is talking about. With the exact same system (6 gigs for the 920, 4 for the 2500k), both clocked at 4.2ghz, you will get around 9 or 10 FPS on average better with the 2500k.

Plus, it is cheaper (z68+8gb ram+2500k vs x58+12gb+930[cant get 920's anymore])

4870 Crossfire vs. Single 6970

Don't have any other benchmarks available, but those comparisons aren't all that skewed. Obviously, you can't make it perfect, but there's nothing unreasonable listed there. Some of them might be more fitting to move down a tier, but seriously...one tier won't change anything.

Well they recommended a 64bit OS, but the game won't use more than 4gigs because that is what the LAA (Large Adress Aware) in 64bit Windows allows. Older 32bit games could get passed the 2gig limit by using an LAA to let them use up to 3.5 but most games, especially console ports, simply don't. BF3 should use only up to 4 gigs. Hmm, I think you should post your battlelog. I'm curious as to how much you have actually played on the PS3. Not to say you haven't experienced what you are saying (we all have), it's just that I'm sure your sample size was very low and thus isn't an accurate representation of the whole population i.e., your confidence interval is very low.

Edit: If this is your profile Cynicruel you only have 9H on the PS3 and only 29H on the PC. Why don't you try playing a little longer, I'm sure your experience will improve.

Edit 2: I will say you have a really high accuracy, much higher than me anyway.

Download and run speedfan, make sure you don't have an overheating issue, especially with your graphics card.

If that's not a problem, try updating your graphics card drivers to the latest version.

If that doesn't fix it either, try deleting all the game files and redownloading them, it's possible they're somehow corrupted.

I can think of several problems that would arise on a no-vehicle, large map TDM.

However as someone who never plays as a sniper, I do believe there should be a specifically designed map to give those players who do like to snipe an awesome long range map to do snipers only TDM.

This should answer your questions about roll, pitch and yaw.

The basic idea is when you pull back on the stick the airplane (when level) will climb. If you push forward you will put the nose down and lose altitude.

Turning uses a combination of roll and pitch. You need to roll the plane in the direction you want to turn and then pull back on the stick (increasing the pitch) which will pull the plane "in".

Yaw is controlled by your rudder. It's only for small adjustments as well as more advanced moves that aren't worth worrying about when starting off. Your rudder is also the only way to turn your plane when taxiing on the ground.

You are technically correct, the best kind of correct. :p

It currently does 34 damage up close, meaning a 3 hit kill. If it does any less it will be a 4 hit kill, like all the other 25 damage guns in the game.

Correction, the AK-74 does, along with most of the PDWs. (But I like my A-91. )

The suppressor is magnificient - in theory. In reality, it doesn't work as intended on 80% of the guns. Spreadsheet

The foregrip [and laser] definitely helps controlling that recoil; the scar is currently the best to-have weapon before the incoming nerf due to its shear power.

But personally, the G36C is my favourite despite being statistically behind when compared. As its looks, handles and feel of the weapon makes the difference. So it really comes down to personal preference, to give them all a shot by unlocking those key addons~

Source, also experience in using it I could tell something wasn't quite right about the damage.
Also higher rate of fire means it's easier to quickly suppress them and make their screen even more fuzzy. Being able to fire a long time is generally not any of these weapons problem.

You're basically in the exact same situation as the OP, only better because you have a quad core CPU. I would recommend upgrading your video card to your best ability. I think the GeForce 570 is the best bang for your buck if you are looking to play on High settings and also have a video card for the future.

No this isn't r/battlefield3bugtracking. However it IS a shitload of redditors playing their beta and EA/DICE does very much want feedback about it. I set up a way specifically for Redditors to do that. It has their blessing. They've said they will be using it. Please give it a try.

I agree that this beta is preeetty buggy and has quite a few elements that just make me wanna kick the devs on the nuts (one of them being their whole "no updates for beta" scheme), but I still find myself spending 8+ hours a day on this thing. Metro is getting kinda old, but.. It's worth it. Report the bugs you find in here, a fancy thing one of the redditors cooked up to send to the devs to improve the retail game :)

Thats the only retailer I've seen have the confidence to list that their special edition comes with ALL the special edition stuff.

1. Have you read the revised EULA?
2. Well, I gotta agree with you on the DLC.
3. This game will be worse on console than PC. Console has smaller maps, smaller team size limits (24), framerate caps (30), etc.

• The real question that needs answering is whether your CPU or your video card is the bottleneck. Since you have an Nvidia card, I suggest you look at RivaTuner, which has a "Hardware Monitoring" tool that can collect and save both CPU and Video-card usage data that you can look at later to see which one is red-lining more.
• Subjectively, I get the feeling BF3 cares a little less about utilizing my CPU (Intel E8400) than BC2 does, although that could be all in my head.
• 8gb of RAM is overkill. Plan so that you could get more later, but don't do it until you really need it.
• Someone else mentioned a power supply (PSU)... All I want to say is that quality is extra-important for PSUs, for two main reasons: (A) defective ones can damage your computer and (B) you'll end up using the same one for longer than most other components. The last time I had to upgrade my PSU it was because I needed those 12v rails that those then-newfangled video cards that drew more power than the motherboard could supply. JonnyGuru has good power-supply reviews, because they use an industrial electrical tester.
