Pro tip - Get a couple of those cell phone gripper pads and put them on top of the Honeycomb. You can put your keyboard up there and it wont slide around.
I do like your setup, but personally I think your screen needs to be considerably closer to the yoke.
Did you do any research before buying?
Edit: Sorry u/sogini13 but you got played hard. You should have come here to verify first.
Just so everyone understands, this is the second non-video link after a google search for "virtualpilot3D". Thanks for the heads up OP but I don't think most people here needed it ;) Fuck these assholes, go support the actual FlightGear.
I recommend getting yourself a VPN such as NordVPN. Alternatively, take your business elsewhere. Thankfully, the .org isn't the only purveyor of freeware and payware add-ons.
On a side note, I appreciate websites like Reddit where you can openly voice your opinion without fear of getting banned by some immature child.
Welcome! Looks like a great start!
I use the following for screenshots:
Mgrab for actually taking the shot: http://www.mwgfx.co.uk/programs/mgrab.htm
And GIMP for any post-processing edits I want to do: https://www.gimp.org/
Take note of what attributes popular/winning shots on this subreddit possess, and always try to improve and learn from others!
This is a little different than what you mean, I think, but I used to have a separate PC dedicated to running Orbiter. I'd attempt planetary transfers entirely in real time, which of course can take months in some cases. I'd come home every day from work and be like "yup, I'm an infinitesimal bit closer to Jupiter!"
This document is an extract I made awhile ago from an official USAF C-17 training manual.

I hope you have fun flying it on whatever platform you use!
Dude, do you have to complain about every single FSX post? I have yet to see you add anything positive to the conversation here.
Some people can't afford fancy computers, expensive cars, or exotic vacations. But they still want to enjoy themselves. All you do is crap on other people's posts, and as a flightsimmer since the days of Chuck Yeager's and Microsoft FS 1.0, I'm getting really sick of it, and I'm sure there are others here that would agree.
Try contributing some worthwhile advice instead of denigrating every post and attempting to make others feel bad.
EDIT: Here. Download this. Imagine when that was cutting edge.
Yes. Create a symbolic link to the scenery folders on your external. I use this tool: http://schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlinkshellext/hardlinkshellext.html
http://lifehacker.com/5530931/link-shell-extension-creates-windows-symlinks-with-ease
It doesn't give you the tools off the bat. At least not for professional projects. Plane Maker, the tool that's included in the XP Dev Suite is better used for designing the flight model. The 3D models themselves are done in Max or Blender. You'd have to design it in XP's Plane Maker and then export as a OBJ for import into 3DS or Blender.
Exterior models and Cockpits are both created and designed in 3DS/Blender for both XP, FSX, and P3D. The difference is that FSX and P3D use lookup tables where XP does not.
That is an android app called FS Radio Panel (Pro). It allows multiple devices (from the same purchase) to connect to a small server installed on the pc. It has several pages of different instruments as well do you can mix and match different things you need at your fingertips. For 10$,i felt like it was quite worth it. The demo version is full of ads so it was a bit difficult to use or test, but the full version is great. I struggle to get the GPS legs to show up on that module. But the scrolling map, autopilot, buttons and other instruments work fine in P3D v4.

It's easier to fix the original database than to learn a whole new three dimensional toolkit. Plus you would help others using the same database, too.
At the end of the day, they will have to update to a newer version of OSM database anyways (to get new buildings and roads), so it would be two birds one stone kind of thing.
i have a gallery where i compare Google Earth 3D with our scenery, you may like it then
This is basically related to the previous "plausible world" approach. Landmarks are in the works though. Some previews here: https://www.slideshare.net/XPlaneOfficial/the-future-of-xplane-11-hartford-flightsimcon-2017#47

good call on the fps cap. I've tried at all times of day every few days over the last month or so, ranging between 5:30am and midnight. I've set my VPN to cities all along the west coast and moving as far east as houston. the highest I've been able to get is 16mb/s. I use Private Internet Access.
This guys got a point. We need to put billboards either side of the runway.
And then have the captain say something like “we will try our best to get you there safely, but you know what will keep your data safe, and for only £10 per month- NordVPN.”
Foreflight does this. There's also Naviator if you want something for Android and slightly less expensive.
Edit: Caveat with Naviator is you need an app like Xplane to GPS (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appropel.xplanegps&hl=en_US) to connect it to Xplane.
Edit2: Unless what you actually meant was the ability to actually see an interact with that iPad app from within the sim. That actually would be pretty awesome, as having to peek out from under my VR headset to use Foreflight is slightly annoying.
Assuming you bought the MFDs from Amazon, don't they already come with a screen? Or did Amazon just make it look pretty?
Edit: Talking about these

Here's an interesting article from the head designer of MTG on what makes a game, it's an interesting read. He'd agree a flight Sim isn't a game.
If you wanted to upgrade your CPU you're probably looking at upgrading Mobo, CPU, and RAM to get any sort of noticeable performance increase. Simply slotting a 3rd gen i7 into your current rig will give you almost zero performance increase. In this comparison you can see the difference between your cpu, a likely upgrade, and a 7th gen i7. Focus on the single threaded performance, as that's the most important factor in performance for our sims. The 7700k offers a 25% increase over your i5, while the 3770k basically within the margin of error.
Upgrading your RAM might help, but I wouldn't count on it. If anything it'll make load times a bit faster, but that's about it. If you upgrade your RAM it'll be useless whenever you do decide to upgrade everything else. Everything after 6th gen uses DDR4, while prior was on DDR3.
I strongly recommend saving up for a new CPU/Mobo/RAM at this point.
I use scenery config editor for every flight I do (not just long haul). It makes a difference for memory reasons. Having all your airports loaded at once can take it's toll.
I usually select my two airports before starting the sim and never have any problems. It's a great freeware tool: https://sourceforge.net/projects/fs-sceditor/
Just remember, if you are running any airports that utilize the Addon Manager from FSDT, you should start the sim, and select the airports manually through normal means. (This way you wont have any missing buildings). For Airports using AES, make sure you open AES config tool before starting the sim.
Why not try the demo ?
http://download.cnet.com/Flight-Simulator-X-demo/3000-2115_4-10570927.html
That way you can get an idea for yourself.
Also, give the X-plane 10 demo a go, you might find that it's a better experience running that native in OSX compared to trying to make FSX 'plained down enough'.
XHSI sounds promising but requires Java:
> XHSI (eXternal High-resolution Simulator Instruments) is an add-on for the X-Plane flight simulator. It displays the PFD, ND, EICAS, Flaps and Gear indicator, Clock/Chronometer, etc... in separate windows. In general, the instruments can be displayed in B737-NG or A320 style.
Link: https://sourceforge.net/projects/xhsi/?source=typ_redirect
Also worth mentioning is the work of MisterX who made some beautiful airports. Link
? Why the skepticism, we've been seeing plenty of screenshots like this from the alpha. Here's another wing shot https://www.reddit.com/r/flightsim/comments/cqzaq9/ms_flight_simulator_2020_new_preview_screenshot/
One great one in this (the second pic) https://www.flightsimulator.com/december-19th-2019-development-update/
No problem. Below is my code, not sure how the formatting will turn out. Sorry.

Forkboy's orthophotos, you say?
Lol, I've actually been using orthos for about a year now and have had a few of forkboy's packages, but previously I've never been able to have more than ~400GB installed (so, just a couple of states at once). This new hard drive changes absolutely everything. I'm planning on installing ALL of his packages, then generating orthos for Southern Ontario, the Middle East between Egypt and the UAE, and if I have space left maybe some in western europe. I'm amazed it took me this long to pick up a new drive- this one was only $130 on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013JPLKQK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
You can get a brand new Saitek yoke with throttles for less than $200 on Amazon. Goes under the name of Logitech G nowadays since Logitech bought Saitek a while back. So it's definitely not worth $350 used, not even with rudders, which you can get brand new for like $150. You're paying new price for something that's used. If you're buying used, don't spend more than $200 for a complete set.
Other than that, it's a decent yoke. It's not amazing, but it gets the job done.
And also look for CH rudder pedals. They are a little narrow, but they are pretty good. You can get them new for like $100-120, and used for like $50.
They also have yokes, but most people seem to prefer Saitek's yoke over CH.
After the last joystick suggestion thread, I wrote up a comparison chart of all the combat joysticks currently available. Here it is! (PDF)
They're not fixing anything. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/microsoft-flight-simulator-series-to-live-on-but-n/1100-6421000/
> Update: Unfortunately, it doesn't sound as if the Steam Edition of Flight Simulator X will feature any improvements. Dovetail told GameSpot, "We have the license to re-release FSX on Steam and this does not extend to making product improvements. However, we will include all possible bug fixes we can. One area that will require some work is the use that FSX made use of GameSpy for multiplayer features. As you may know, GameSpy is no longer available and so we are looking for alternate ways of providing this functionality including using features in Steam."
Certainly with the TBM 850 I have from Carenado, I will see a CPU spike and FPS loss when I switch the avionics on and power up all that glass. I am not limited on GPU, what with running superclocked GTX 980's (also checked the loading via MSI afterburner). So it could possibly be the CPU for you.
However on both the PMDG and the Airbus there is a function to turn down the amount of objects being displayed on the radar etc if you have a weaker card. I have a suspicion it will come down to the quirks of the Texan. Get a copy of MSI afterburner (free) and monitor all your CPU cores as well as GPU loading. That will soon show you which it is :)
A better card will almost certainly help too, and new stuff is always cool, but for this particular issue its best to find out exactly whats causing it I think, rather than just chucking hardware at it. At least then any purchase is an informed decision.
Yeah, something that can auto-scale horizontally and vertically would be great (avoid the constant AVSIM slowdowns). I would lean towards Amazon Web Services (certified, and use it daily at work), but bandwidth is pretty spendy. Perhaps something like OVH's Object Storage (https://www.ovh.com/us/cloud/storage/object-storage.xml) or just straight up build a storage cluster so we get flat rates for bandwidth. (For me download speeds need to be as fast as we can get it without compromising cost too much).
Software-wise, I'm a fan of IP.Board (see: IP.Downloads) and have a couple spare licenses lying around, and done right I've seen it scale pretty well (can auto-store uploaded files in Object Storage if we choose).
Data integrity is crucial as well, I don't have the fastest upload at home in case we need to restore, but I've got 100Mbps downstream and 20TB of storage in-house for cheap/free backups.
I'm fairly new here, but here's my setup:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X
)MODS
To actually install an addon:
MODS
(i.e. one subdirectory per mod)JSGME.exe
and enable the mod before running FSXNo. 3 is key — if it's a plane then you'll probably have to create the SimObjects\Airplanes
directories manually and move the plane folder into it. Use FSX's actual directory structure as a reference. AFAIK FSX doesn't need to be closed and reopened after installing an airplane.
If the plane isn't showing, it's probably because the directory structure is incorrect (in which case you should disable it in JSGME, correct it in the MODS folder then re-enable it to ensure your FSX folders don't get mangled).
If that doesn't fix it, ensure the plane has a thumbnail.jpg
file at C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\MODS\PLANE_NAME\SimObjects\Airplanes\PLANE_NAME\texturethumbnail.jpg
Happy modding!

The problem here is the lack of proper bridge length data. The sim just have no idea where to start a bridge.
I freaking love KSP, I think I finally hit like 500 hours recently. It may look similar but it's quite different, a lot more in-depth in the actual physics department. I highly recommend giving it a shot if you like KSP. And it's free! :D http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/
If by "realistic" you mean "modeled after real world scenarios and technologies" then I understand Orbiter has that though I could be wrong since I haven't found time to play it yet.
If by "realistic" you mean "anything with a Newtonian physics model" then you might check out Independence War, I understand it has such a model.
The sad thing is, much of what you describe is already around, but we'll probably never see it all in one place. It sounds like you're describing a combination of Orbiter, which is freakin awesome if you're not familiar, and the Infinity engine. The video on that second link practically brings tears to my eyes, it's so magnificent. It starts off slow, but stick with it!
Yes, Simconnect is already part of the simulator. https://www.flightsimulator.com/november-21st-2019-development-update/
Additionally, FSUIPC has announced on their forums that FSUIPC v7 is in testing.
So basically anything used by FSX to exchange data will be either available at launch or soon after.
FG has had these rendering improvements for a while according to the website.
It's a case of people not knowing where to turn on settings (for instance cloud shadows need to be turned on in the detailed weather advanced settings, and detailed weather doesn't turn on until apply is selected, things like random vegetation need to be tu), or not having recent systems. The other reason is that since scenery is volunteer developed, it differs by area and is not consistent everywhere (models, textures and full use of FG's procedural systems differs) - Europe is generally good.
Found it by right click in chrome > Search google for this image and I got this: http://www.flightgear.org/news/flightgear-v3-0-released/ -- this was like 2 years ago!
Well now, I'm making one of your animal liveries right now!
Release 2016.1.2 (bugfixes) has arrived on May 7th; 2016.2.1 has already been prepared. We just need to publish a release announcement.
Please see http://www.flightgear.org/news/a-preview-of-features-for-the-barcelona-release/ and http://wiki.flightgear.org/Changelog_2016.2 for more about the upcoming 2016.2.
I have the development ('nightly') version 2016.3.0, and I really like it! It's development; it can get buggy, but I like it :)
These are the ones I got. Honestly you just need two.
Extreme 3D Pro Joystick for Windows https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00009OY9U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_GS92J9PWDQ6NQBWK7B4X
That’s what most people using a PC start out using. Not sure what people using apple products can and can’t use?
Also check out VATSIM if your researching simulating realism in a simulator. There are lots of shortcomings vs real life, but it’s a network that try’s at least :)
This is the link for it on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08NGBXZHG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I've written both recently, the shortages are terrible right now. My daughter wanted this baby shark vacuum that was out of stock everywhere. I had a script looking for it at like 10 different places to come in stock. Anyways, short answer is yes. Long: I've written one to do a search on the amazon page then look for it in the results. I've also written some that just look for a specific "Pre-Order" or "Add to Cart" option on a specific page. The later is much more reliable. If you know any coding, check out python and selenium, it's a driver for web browsers like chrome and firefox. Sorry if that's too much info.
Fun plane. Nice pictures. I've been using it on FlyUK's tours and Highland Connect routes. There is also a pretty helpful guide to flying it on Amazon.
Amazon (US) has both the flight stick and flight pack on sale. Not sure if they'll go any lower.-
Flightstick: $40, down from $60
Flight pack: $130, down from $160
+1 for the T1600. You can get stick, throttle, and pedals for cheap on Amazon at the moment (https://www.amazon.com/Thrustmaster-T16000M-FCS-Flight-Pack/dp/B01N2PE8CZ).
Good equipment is expensive but you get what you pay for. Virpil and VKB make very good quality sticks. There’s a consensus over at r/hotas that these companies make better products than Thrustmaster
Amazon sells it for $19.90 USD new or $6.79 for a used copy. Honestly, if I didn't already have the game, I'd probably just pick up a used copy. Amazon is usually pretty thorough in their used product inspection; and either way, you can always return it.
The game is tons of fun, though! Minus what /u/EpicSaxGirl said about there not being an unlimited time free flight mode (if I remember properly, it is limited to ten minutes before you have to restart), there are tons of easter eggs to explore and I probably have spent over 30 hours on it!
Amazon sells them. I, too, remember when they were in every supermarket checkout line. Back when U-Control was a thing and we were trying to beat the russkies at space stuff and people drank Tab and Tang. Those were the days!
I copied this below from a post I made a few weeks back asking the same. FSX is a great sim for learning due to the material in the learning center. Do this below to read that learning material outside FSX or as a window when in flight to reference easily:
Simply got the the 'UIRES' folder within the FSX folder ---
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX\uires
In there you will see a HTML file named lc01 (the first digit is a lowercase L)
Simply right click on this lc01 file and select create a shortcut. Drag it to desktop and rename it FSX Learning Center.( When it opens you can also add it to your browser bookmarks if you want to access it that way)
Now you can read the learning center stuff in a flight or even without FSX started.
If you really want to get deeper into flight sim learning get this book below - and fly the lessons that you can download for use with the book. This book takes you from the basics to advanced flying using charts and landing systems. These lessons will help you in any sim you fly with in the future, as it teaches about flying rather than FSX. The kind of stuff you might see other people doing and wonder how you learn that. The answers and step by step instructions are here below - and available used for a few dollars/pounds on Amazon:
Also would recommend the Angle of Attack free video series to fly along with.
Thanks for your preorder! Yes it does need a "printer" cable - Something like this. Depending on where you get your Arduino too, sometimes they come with a shorter blue cable that can be attached to a USB extension if you have one lying around.
Not bad for keyboard, you really should invest in a joystick
I recommend the Thrustmaster T-flight Hotas X it’s is good for beginners.
/u/drporkchop1234, if you want a better chopper the Bell-412 is now pretty good.
You can get the latest release from https://sourceforge.net/projects/bell-412/ or get the "beta" SVN snapshot from https://sourceforge.net/p/bell-412/code/HEAD/tarball
Smoother loading of new tiles, but he had large stutters when FSGRW had a weather update and there were issues still with solid/broken stratisforms going to infinity and entire tiles of clouds not loading until you got really close or unloading after you leave the tile. You can still watch the stream on his page:
I'm sure there's easier ways to do it, but i do it the way I've always taken screenshots of videogames. Alt + print screen, then paste it into GIMP, then when I have a bunch, or after I've finished my flight, I export the pictures to a folder.
GIMP is a very good, free picture editing software similar to photoshop. Download GIMP for free here: https://www.gimp.org/
I don't know how far away your friend is, but P3D multiplayer is only designed to work over a LAN, which is usually very low latency, so even if you use a VPN to connect him to your LAN, it might fall apart due to high latency.
But anyway, here's how to do it using Windows' built in functionality:
For you:
For your friend:
http://www.howtogeek.com/134046/how-to-connect-to-a-vpn-in-windows/
You might have to configure your modem/router to allow the incoming connection. Whether you need to, and how to do it, depends on what modem/router you have.
My bad, for creating flight plans I use Flight Scheduler + PFPX. FMC process is easy once you get used to it, start by sorting out fuel and payload on the right hand FMC. Then start with posi init on the left hand, then your route, then departure/arrival followed by t/o config and performance.
Decent checklists here:
Not sure, but please for the love of god do not start him off in Game mode. It's terrible and will only make it harder to learn Sim mode by teaching bad practices.
Tell him to do the first few tutorials and then get on /r/hoggit. Every tuesday ngiht there's a session where new players can come on, ask questions, and get trained by human instructors.
Oh, by the way, Here's a PDF file that lists all the commands that should be bound in Sim mode. I wrote it for some friends who were learning the game a few weeks back.
So i assume we are talking about the same plane? If you see a few reviews, its got issues herr and there :/ do you still recommend it? I mean by the way you wrote about it, it seems you do but I just want to make sure we are on the same page.
Honestly, I would go with a real controller. But with the conditions you set, vJoy might do the trick. It simulates a joystick and you should be able to drive via keyboard or a feeder app.
EDIT: vJoy is a good way to go, but you'll still need something to map the keyboard to the vJoy axes. I haven't used it, but there's an app called Universal Control Remapper which should be able to do the trick. As an aside, I was kind of toying with the idea of creating an Android app to feed vJoy from a tablet, e.g. as a poor man's throttle quadrant controller or for trim wheels, that type of thing. No idea if anyone would be interested though.
Are you talking about MSFS or X-Plane now? X-Plane has excellent Garmin tutorial, it's a pdf i think in the documentation subfolders. They're super easy to work with. It's basically like a sophisticated car-gps. I'm not sure if MSFS has dedicated tutorial.I'd recommend using the X-Plane X-1000 (Laminar version of Garmin G-1000) manual. The navigation system work in almost the same way in both simulators, the X-Plane version is more detailed in functionality (only the virtual terrain feature is missing in XPL).It's really easy. I basically learned the whole thing while commuting.http://x-plane.com/manuals/G1000_Manual.pdfBtw, about the mouse - if you'd be willing, you might be able to help me even though you don't seem to have the problem, but only if you have the Steam version of MSFS. I could take a look at your cfg files, maybe there's something wrong in mine, and comparing them could help. There are two config files for the mouse. One is at:
steam/steamapps/common/MicrosoftFlightSimulator/Input/Mouse.xml
And the other one is at:
steam/userdata/yoursteamID (a number)/1250410/remote/inputprofile (and some number)
If you could search for these files and either send them to me somewhere or do a screenshot, that would be great. But
How about this? There's no taxi info though. I just googled "pilot kneeboard template", maybe there are more hits?
YES! i used to have that one and i would play military flight sims! then i lost the computer and games and eventually fell out of flight sims. then i got FSX and got my the Saitek Cyborg-x. let me find a link.....
there we are. its pretty cheap and you can change the grip size and bring the thumb-buttons forward or back, and tilt them. you can also adjust the whole stick, forward or back. but i dont see why you would want to do that haha
only issue ive had is the dual-throttles dont work individually on FSX. dont know about any other fight sims, but im sure it would for a combat sim
dunno... flying a LOT in the sim around Australia, I have learned a new respect for those trade winds and Spring on the South East. The EU and USA are positively smooth in comparison.
been VERY impressed with the features on Windy.com maybe that will help with planning!?!?!
seriously.. Melbourne 2 days ago... 50kn winds with 45kn gusts. Not the kindest of conditions
In addition to Ortho4XP and W2XP, which the other comments already suggested, I also recommend HD Mesh v3.
There is a preconception that HD Mesh is just about elevation data so it is only useful in mountainous areas but, in reality, it also improves roads, coastlines, positioning of trees, rivers and lakes and in general land-class accuracy.
See these before/after screenshots for example:
If you need a guide that explains how to use orhto4xp, w2xp and HD mesh all together see the three links in my previous comment here: https://www.reddit.com/r/flightsim/comments/6l1vwz/best_addons_to_spice_up_my_scenery_and_atmosphere/djqwke4/
I use Scenery Config Editor to enable/disable sceneries as needed. It takes a bit of setup in the beginning, but you can organize all your sceneries into groups and enable/disable them with one click.
That being said, while I used to disable anything other than the departure and destination airports, I now only disable enroute airports.
GSX insists on regenerating the cache every time the scenery.cfg is modified, and at times it'll fail for no reason, despite multiple restarts, reboots and manually deleting other cache files /rant
Pretty certain you are thinking of 1996's Jetfighter 3.
Walking around on that carrier is the sort of immersion and soul modern flight Sims just don't even bother to attempt anymore.
I would pick it up directly from GitHub - its free. Sure its nice to support the developers if you like it, but there are always donation options available.
When I was using FSX/FSX:SE, I used a free program called Borderless Gaming to make it fullscreen without blacking out my second monitor.
Just download it from the above link and install it. Then run FSX:SE, change it to Windowed mode if it isn't already. Then launch Borderless Gaming. You should see FSX:SE listed under the Applications column. Just select it and click the right arrow between the columns to add it to the Favorites (Automatic) column. That should make it run in fullscreen. I believe you can also add an entry to FSX:SE's exe.xml file to run it automatically with the sim, but I never tried that.
It worked perfectly fine for me. Hope that helps!
Looks like VSKYLABS is having a sale on their website ...
Also, I've been looking for an excuse to pick up Sedona UHD for a while and I think I found it! Great video!
This site has one. Type in 0 or if you wish to donate the amount you want to donate, and then you should be able to download it.
You might need to change some things in the panel.cfg
I'm not trying to play you out to be the bad guy. I simply removed some expletives because there's kids on here.
>When my ban comes, I'll be sure that I take you down with me.
A statement like this though makes me think you'd benefit from reading this. - https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/adult-health/in-depth/anger-management/art-20045434
Good luck to you.
The trailer matches the current imagery available through bing:
TBH looking at it on bing maps it looks more like a bug or missing high resolution imagery than an attempt to censor the area. Usually only the small area of the military base is censored, not such a wide area, and replaced with something like grass or forest that blends in naturally (see Stuttgard in the sim). Also, if you pan around the blurred area it is made of several perfectly rectangular tiles, which would be weird for censoring but makes perfect sense if there's a bug and a few tiles are missing high res imagery.
I'd say submit a bug report to bing itself (Feedback -> Report a problem). They might fix it and then Asobo will pick it up next time they do a world refresh
Most military bases around the world are visible on Bing maps in fairly high resolution.
Hi, you could try QGIS (Quantum GIS) http://www.qgis.org/en/site/
It is an open source GIS system that works on windows, linux or mac so should fine for you. I have never used it, I am lucky enough to have acces to ArcGIS via work but I have heard good things about it from friends. I found a quick guide on how to use it to georeference things: http://netpalantir.it/news/index/how-to-georeference-an-image
Fingers crossed this will work for you.
X-Plane 10 Mobile for Android will work with a Nvidia Shield controller, however I am not sure if you can use other controllers. But it's worth a shot.
http://x-plane.com/manuals/mobile/index.html#appendix:gamecontrollerbuttonassignments
I don't use the beta much, still flying XP10 99% of the time, so just a guess: If you position yourself at a gate or stand in the flight setup, doesn't that automatically set the plane c&d?
EDIT: Guess I found it in the Manual: http://x-plane.com/manuals/desktop/11/index.html#pickingandcustomizinganaircraft When selecting an Aircraft, there is a "Customize" button next to it. There you should be able to select a livery and also cold&dark vs. engines running.
But I hope they add an option to make it the global default setting (or at least store the last setting per aircraft).
This seems to be the Orbiter space flight simulator. Not sure which mod is this space craft, but I suggest you get started with the DeltaGlider craft (an unrealistically powerful single stage to orbit), which is quite easy to get started with.
You do need a mission plan to get anything done, so I suggest you start with a tutorial on flying to ISS and then fly the ISS to Mir mission.
Hi,
It's listed under the "known issues" in the latest update release notes:
https://www.flightsimulator.com/world-update-i-japan-patch-version-1-9-3-is-now-available/
Hopefully it's going to be fixed with next one ;)
There are currently bugs with live weather, including the 225@3 knot issue, which are being resolved with an update that is releasing sometime in the next week or so. You can read more about it in the development update and on the forums.
https://www.flightsimulator.com/september-10th-2020-development-update/
It's already on their radar (https://www.flightsimulator.com/september-10th-2020-development-update/) but I think it won't hurt if they see how massively we hate this 'feature'.
from the official FS2020 site, I thought I'd save you the scrolling and link the images directly.
but here's the full page https://www.flightsimulator.com/microsoft-flight-simulator-set-for-launch-on-august-18-for-pc-also-with-xbox-game-pass-for-pc-beta/
Does this link show anything? (login first)

> Features like ATC, Seasons, VR, Rotorcraft, SDK, etc. can be found in the Feedback Snapshot along with our current plan for next steps and timelines for resolution.
This is from today's blog update. From the looks of it, they do have included VR in mind.

“‘I want to pay for it in unmarked, non-sequential, low denomination bills, placed in three black plastic bin bags, left on the third floor of an abandoned multi-story car park, at midnight.’ - AVSIM User
MSFS – Done. Once you make the drop, head south 3 kilometers. Locate a metal trash bin, retrieve mobile phone at bottom of bin. At 1:06AM text “no subscription”. Await further instruction.”
http://www.flightgear.org/download/main-program/ is where i downloaded it from. when i extract the downloded scenery to :c/programfiles/flightgear/data/scenery it changes the .exe path for some reason. has done it 4-5 times.
Infinite flight is a big sham, just like most of the pay to play apps for smartphones.

Think of it, they make you pay 10 fucking dollars, A MONTH. Just to access the singleplayer open world. Just to play online, on servers with which you are sharing a really limited amount of data : type, position and rotation of your aircraft. It doesn't require no more power to run AGAR.IO servers, which are free and pay themselves with ads.

And the content .... just laughable. They downloaded a flight dynamics library, added some extremely low quality, 3d models, most of the aircrafts aren't even modeled correctly. Plus every aircraft feels like the same.
Regarding the scene, there is absolutely NOTHING, no landclass system, no 3d scenery. They just mapped the whole world with extremely low quality photoreal from bing and others. It's a frgging joke.

Here's the sourcecode for anyone who's interested: http://pastebin.com/Z2W6KEDU
Please note that to use it, you need to install something called nircmd.
You also have to put in the correct cursor coordinates according to your setup, so this won't work out of the box.
With "duet display" you can add an ipad as external display. OR "https://www.spacedesk.net/" its free and you can link multiple ipads, but lesser resolution works great! And in FS with alt-gr and click on a display you can open it in a new window.
What is your system more specifically - i7 is just a model with many many iterations, we need to know what i7 you are running. We also need your GPU model.
To find out, download HWiNFO (download the portable version so you don't have to install it):
I have a GTX 1060 and I found that texture compression @ the second highest setting saved a bit of memory. Here's a screeny of my settings: https://vgy.me/vlQDMF.png
Also, maybe (I dunno xp11's cpu load) the 2600k is a bit outdated
It wouldn't be that difficult to update the exterior model. Hell, I could do it in 3DS in a month or two given the appropriate amount of free time. This biggest challenge concerning the visuals would be the VC. It needs a complete overhaul in both modeling and the removal of PR (Photo Real) textures that should be replaced with new, custom drawn mapped versions.
Here are two programs you can try out:
I use Photoshop myself, so I am not too aware of the Photoshop-alternative scene. As long as you can find a program that supports PSD files and can handle .PNG files with transparency, then you should be all set!
Have you tried Davinci Resolve (by Blackmagic Design)? It is a full featured video editing suite. There is a free version with few limitations (none that I feel are important for what you might need it for). I have used it and it can easily go head on with the big boys (Avid, Premier, Final Cut).
Only available via torrent, but that link * might * be ok.

And to verify the install you can download the orginal falcon4.exe v1.002 from here.
Beginner can never go wrong with a basic Thrustmaster HOTAS stick and throttle. Here’s the one I’ve used for YEARS that took me through sim enthusiast through practicing patterns and emergency engine out glides during PPL training. https://www.amazon.com/Thrustmaster-T-Flight-Hotas-Flight-Stick-PC/dp/B001CXYMFS/ref=mp_s_a_1_13?dchild=1&keywords=t-flight+hotas+pc&qid=1624747552&sr=8-13
I’m just now trying to figure out a rig for yoke and t-quad.
Thanks!
I did look at locking wheels and those chair glide feet you linked but in one of my experiments I wedged some boxes between the back of my chair and the wall but while that stabilized the chair, the pedals then began slipping around. So I was looking for a solution that solved both problems.
I contemplated trying to build something like this, but given the price of wood these days I figured I'd save myself some money and effort and go with a premade solution, so I wound up ordering the Pein Pedal Mount. I came up with the idea to use the strap to hold me over until it arrives. :)
For those without wood working skills (such as myself) I went with this cheap mouse pad thing for my airbus side stick.
