The first game that I played that had this sort of momentum skiing type thingy is a really fun mobile game called Time Surfer.
For 3D, there is a game that I bought on Steam precisely because I had so much fun with Time Surfer called Defunct.
Regardless, both games rely on the player pressing a button when going downhill to gather speed. I'm not sure if Journey was similar, but I found this mechanic to be entertaining and simple at the same time.
Duet's a lot easier in my opinion but it's just as enjoyable, if not more so. I'm still trying to beat the last level of Super Hexagon but I've beat all of Duet. They're both great games!
Kumobius, the makers of Duet, also made a game called Time Surfer which is super fun.
If you want to play a good game with that weird sliding mechanic, Time Surfer is your game. It's also apparently free...which is odd because I got it in a Humble bundle.
Hmm... Could it be this one? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kumobius.android.carpet I've played it before and it was really fun and I loved the time aspect of it.
Time Surfer is a pretty good clone. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kumobius.android.carpet
Here's a much, MUCH better clone to put your time into. I hope you enjoy it:

Try Time Surfer. Basically the same game, if not better.
