I use Timeriffic to do the same thing everyday. It also changes WiFi state, etc. It's not as robust as IFTTT but it doesn't have the delay issue you're talking about.

Is there a built-in scheduler now?
I've used Timeriffic for years for that sort of thing. Tasker is more powerful, but more complicated.
>I will now be manually flipping the option on and off.
Side note: I love the app Timeriffic. You can use it for multiple android settings automatically.
You can turn wifi on and off based on the time of day. I use mine for multiple settings like that.
I use an app called Timeriffic on my Android phone that is awesome it lets you set a 7-day calendar of setting changes for your phone, including setting it to silent overnight or making sure that your phone volume is set to 100% for your alarm.

it's old as the hills but I've used it since android eclair and it's still as invaluable as ever.. Timerific https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alfray.timeriffic
It's the first app I install when I get a new device. So handy.
I use Timeriffic for this. In addition to silencing your phone, it can do all sorts of neat things:
Ring Volume, Media Volume, System Volume, Wifi on/off, Airplane Mode, Auto Sync on/off, Vibrate on/off, Notification Volume, Alarm Volume, Voice Call Volume, Brightness, and Bluetooth on/off.
When I leave the house around the same time every day for work, I have it set to mute my phone and turn off Wifi. When I'm expected to get home from work, it does the reverse.
Timeriffic. Can do other settings as well (sound, wifi, etc.).
