nope, there's no sync. however, I managed to transfer my guest account to another phone using Xperia Transfer. it can move data only to a Sony phone, but perhaps your OEM has a similar. data migration tool.

There are many different ways, you can transfer by cloud, over wifi, or SD card. Sony transfer mobile app is very straight forward and easy to use/understand
Xperia transfer is one of the best solutions. although it can't back up all apps, some need to be installed from the playstore. But is does save text message, contacts and phone call logs.
Factor reset is the easiest option. Use Xperia transfer to make a backup before you start. It won't restore all apps, some can only be downloaded from the app store and can't be moved. But it will keep things like your text messages/call history/contacts, which are a welcome sight on a blank phone. Google should also resotre some apps when you log into the wiped phone for the first time.
There is a page here on how to remove bloatware without rooting your phone. So have a read of that, it might help you get rid of some of the useless apps that always put notifications up, liike 'sony updates', eventually saving you battery and space.
I would recommend Xperia Transfer, it will create a backup of all your apps, settings, contacts and messages and even your homescreen layout. On the appstore.
BUT, it can take a really long time to get ready for the transfer, I've seen someone claiming it didn't work because they couldn't be bothered to wait for it to finish. But it's worked every time I've tried it, perfectly.

Download on the playstore here, I only used it for text messages but seems like a nice utility, and the reviews are positive: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonymobile.xperiatransfermobile
It's unlikely to be fixed by a software update as this isn't a general fault, it's possibly something that you've installed or some app has gone rouge with the settings.
As the hardware is working, you just need to remove whatever bug is stopping the mic from working properly.
The easiest way is to do a software repair with Xperia Companion.
Beware this will wipe your phone, so make sure you do a backup with Xperia transfer first, then restore after you've logged back in and google has reinstalled your apps..
You need Xperia transfer. Does texts, apps, phone call records and keeps your homescreen.
Have you tried PC Companion repair?
I would make a backup with Xperia Transfer first
I don't think it's a hardware problem as the phone is working, allbeit slowly. Look in Settings\Apps and notifications\App permisions - look under location and remove eveything other than maps/navigation apps/browser. Quite often repeated reqests to Google Play Services for location data, especially when the GPS is turned off, can slow the proccess down.
Sometimes play services gets itself into a bit of a tiz. Go into Settings\Apps and notifications\App info - Find Google Play Services and look under storage Clear Cache and if possible Manage Space and wipe the data, restart phone.
Try updating Google Play Services - use APKmirror and search for Google Play Services Beta. Download and install the latest version (make sure you grab the right one for your phone). Sometimes forcing a new version onto the phone clears any Serives errors. It will continue to automatically update play services, even though you put a beta on it.
Try removing your google acount, restart the phone, then add it again. This helps refresh the Play services data and can also clear errors.
Try software repair with Xperia companion. Sounds like there's a corrupt file in there somewhere.
You might want to make a backup with Xperia transfer before you do, as repair will wipe your phone.
Download Newflasher and put it in the same folder as the firmware you downloaded fromXperiafirm
Delete Userdataxxx.sin and files ending in .ta . This will ensure that you don't lose any personal data.
Then start newflasher.exe and follow instrctions.
Im_A_Decoy is right, it's quite often best to have a complete wipe when starting a new version OS.
Consider using Xperia transfer to make a backup of your old phone, have fresh clean install and then restore that data afterwards.
