> C5 corvette is in an entirely different class than a 3S, that a garbage comparison.
We aren't talking about classing, we are talking about measures of performance.
Drivers quickly adapt to new setups and whatever the car does becomes "the new normal" in a matter of minutes (it makes tuning more challenging because your window of useful information from the driver is so short). If you want to get a measure of how your car is handling, you need to drive other cars to give yourself a benchmark.
Go drive a C5, then go drive a 3S, and the 3S's native understeer - that previously felt "normal" - will become immediately apparent.
Given that he owns a Miata too, the question "where should he start building it" should be "don't". For the reasons discussed.
KSports suffered from problems like "two shocks same part number not even close to matching forces". If you want more detail, I go into it in my book.

It's hard to predict how much improvement comes out of replacing rubber with spherical bearings; in many ways, it's about removing a known unknown. When rubber is in series with shocks, it lets the shocks have more effect, which depending on the shock, may be good or bad - sometimes rubber takes the edge off a bad shock.
If I really really really wanted to chase the dragon (and a real heroin addiction would probably be cheaper and more fun...) I'd go see Quaife about building me a custom diff, or Quaife/Enco about building a custom transmission - might as well go sequential at that point, might even find something at Quaife or Enco that can be adapted via a custom bellhousing. Quaife were always good to me, even when I was breaking two of their diffs a year...
Yes I hunted and hunted endlessly for the first gen because they are so rare and I like the front better. I took a flight to pick up mine from Atlanta, 1 owner, 120miles all leather sunroof the works. There is one that I found in NY with 80k miles....https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/962323557527292/
So this one will work for a 1991 3k sl It says after 1998. I'm assuming the 1991 and 1998 are built the same way.

that's the main page, you'll click either US, Canada or whatever you want, itll give you other options if you click US you'll pick a state that's close to you or that you don't mind driving down to. Once you pick a state you'll get to narrow down you're results a little pick whatever, then click for sale then cars and trucks then keep searching till you find something.
Once you make your 1st search there is a blue colored option tab I would click that and press on "by owner" if you wanna change state you basically will have to click the link again.
Sorry if it's a little confusing
Any 2.5" speaker will fit. Last time I replaced them, I went with Vifa full range speakers from Amazon. They sound good and improved over the oem speakers. But I run an upgraded 6-channel amp for the car too.
There is a simple mod for using 1 inch tweeters and dropping them into a plastic lid to hold them in place.
Unfortunately nearly any speaker you go with will require some modification because it's a unique size. For example, https://www.amazon.com/Dayton-Audio-ND65-4-Aluminum-Full-Range/dp/B0042GWFJW
That will fit but is square so the mounting brackets will need to be cut off and rounded out to fit cleanly. In addition, there no bottom mount for it so would need to decide how to secure them in place.
