You can also do some pretty interesting things in After Effects if you have it. One time I replaced a car's windows with video footage created from animated GIFs (It can create a video from a GIF). So when you're "in the car (in VR), you see different scenery going by you as the car moves forward. You can also place 2D PNG images into a video without distorting them.
The free version of Da Vinci Fusion is pretty powerful too. It lets you bring 3D models into your 360 video.
glitterlok is right about the potential motion sickness. One time I tested a VERY slow zoom-in effect where a distant object gets closer. No matter how slow I made the zoom, I still felt motion sickness. Google, when they were in the VR Video-producing business, gave some guidelines for performing tasks such as manipulating a user's perspective while he's watching a 360 video.

and get a big USB3 battery bank. I'm not 100% if it will pass enough power. I have used a 3port version with power bank with success.
Otherwise this is similar to what you have but could be powered from 12v battery bank.

Don't know if the answer is related or not but TBH you can download YouTube videos anywhere you want on the internet. It’s just how you play the video that matters. After doing some finding I found out an android video player called VRTV VR Video Player Free by Chai Software that can do the trick. You just need to make sure you select the right settings for it as shown in the screenshot here.
Note: I’ve actually also tried 4k videos on this player and it kinda dropped frame aka struggle to play it, anyhow upto 1080p video works just fine though.
Hey guys,
I built tiiny.host to simplify hosting and discovered a user uploading 360 tours using mazipano.net. I thought it was a really cool tool so I made a short video about it to teach others.
I'm really new to this space but really interested in it. If you have any questions, hit me up!
I was using SONY a900 with Hugin panorama photostitcher http://hugin.sourceforge.net
Results are very impressive and one can do plenty of stuff, like HDR, color correction, distortion and mini-planets, but it is a very old application and requires understanding of projections and lens specifics. Expect some learning curve before you get usable results. I see you posted a while ago, so hope that this is still actual for you...
I use the Yi 360 camera which does 5.7k and is going for $200 on Amazon but looks like it has been discontinued. It supports 4k in-camera stitching, otherwise my computer takes about an hour to stich 4 minutes of 5.7k video at best quality.
It also has a good smartphone app with live preview and playback support, and even wifi streaming to YouTube, but unfortunately live streaming is no longer a realistic option for most people because YouTube just added a new policy requiring 1000 subscribers. This really fucked me over recently after notifying over a hundred people of an event and buying prepaid cellular data.
I know EXACTLY what you mean about the mount. When I first got the camera I tried doing this with the "Selfie" stick and found I couldn't do more than about 5 minutes at a time before I had to switch hands, and more than 30 minutes total would wear me out.
So I was very happy when I found the SHOOT backpack (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GZM129K). It took a while to get everything at the angle and as tight as I needed it, and I still wish they made a version that could take a heavier camera (like a Pro 2), but it has made doing these SO much easier!
That’s what I thought. The only thing I’ve seen for it is a $5 lens shield that at least offers some protection from dust and scratches, but it only works with the $55 cover. It’s not an ND filter, but it’s better than nothing I guess. There’s only one review from somebody who bought it without the case so take that a grain of salt.

Sync is an intuitive and robust app. Here's a link. There's a pro version, I guess for buying the app outright. I got the regular sync and I think bought the upgrade (it's been so long I don't remember).
