Check them yourself. Chances are they have plenty of life left for the street. The shop told me the same thing but they looked fine once I got the wheel off.

I got a basic OBDII scanner on Amazon I think. Shouldn’t be very expensive. I own a 986.2 with and 996 C4S without. Litronics are nice but the technology is dated, my conclusion has been these Philips LED's (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-11972XUWX2-X-tremeUltinon-Headlight-5-800K/dp/B07MMTRRZ1) in my 996 C4S are as good as, if not brighter than the factory litronics though it's worth buying decent LED's like these as cheap ones tend not to maintain a bulb like light dispersion which can ruin the beam cut off.
Also litrnonics aren't simply plug and play once you have the headlights in place, fine if you have factory kit but you will also need to install the suspension angle sensors for the auto levelling. Also not sure where you are located but in the UK where I'm based if you have HID's then to pass your MOT inspection the car needs to have functional autoleveling and headlight washers to pass. LED's are also technically a fail but much easier to swap in halogens for the inspection and back than to LED's than what is needed to fit a functional litronic system
