Hello. I have a 60 gallon setup with 4 adult FBT's and a betta. I think the rule of thumb is 1 toad per 5 gallons of tank space. I'll link a video of my paludarium.
Maybe this will work. https://sendvid.com/26b82z6j
thanks so much!!!
edit: if anyone else wants the link to it on the us store: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XL1V2HG/ref=sspa_dk_hqp_detail_aax_0?psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUE1MlBZUVVXSEY0OU8mZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA1Mzk0OTMxOUU2V1ExNEhPSUVaJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAxMjkyNjJPN1JVVVNMUVBWVUgmd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9ocXBfc2hhcmVkJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==
You've got the right idea. Leopard frog tadpoles are on the larger side, so a bigger tank is definitely a good idea. Tadpole care is nearly identical to scaleless fish and basic axolotl care, so your suggestions are perfect.
You're also exactly right about how they should be cleaning the tank. Maybe you could suggest a siphon with a guard over the opening if you haven't already (like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Aquarium-Fish-Siphon-Gravel-Cleaner/dp/B06XKGYJHR/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?crid=AS62C7NEQW69&keywords=gravel+vacuum+with+guard&qid=1653312911&sprefix=gravel+vacuum+with+guard%2Caps%2C72&sr=8-5).
Aloe vera might clog their gills a bit, so I think it'd be a risk to keep using it. It might be fine, but it also might go badly.
Like this one. They sit on the floor of the tank and use an air pump to suck water through the sponge. They are popular in nano tanks bc they can't suck livestock in, I think they are also good for amphibians bc they don't create much current.
I'd say probably nothing smaller than a 40 gallon in terms of floor space. But that's definitely floor space, so don't rely on gallonage, I'm just coming from an aquaria background and think of enclosures by the amount of water they hold lol. Actual width and length's the way to go.
Just looking, something like this, would work, but you can never have too much space.
well it's just got an infection with some swelling.
what everybody uses is methylene blue
it disinfects and stops infections and swelling in fish and other aquarium animals.
lol whoa you do NOT need 4 LED lights for a tiny 10-20 gal tank my man! haha, im using the same grow LED lights for my tanks and i would say 2 is the max ok buddy? i would also get a screen first (any salamander or frog would get out of that tank immediately) and a terrarium hood second so that ur not blinding yourself everytime you look at ur tank top
after you do that then it should be a totally livable environment for 1 fire belly toad. most salamanders and newts aren't going to enjoy the moving water. they'll most likely just dig/burrow/hide underneath.
you're gonna need a little bit larger water area for most other amphibians. yeah this is gonna look pretty nice in the next 6-8 weeks!
Interesting! I will try that.
