That is cool and all. But $135 on amazon. Not worth the price holy hell. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0085ZAMN2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_GRW9482MKYWDNVGCRMRM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 and $99 for the medium one. Simple storage but not cheap in the slightest ffs.
Not OP, but I’ve owned dogs that need regular grooming! Try and get your pup in every 8-10 weeks. They should be brushed with a slicker brush these brushes are the best to get the little mats out. Doodle owners get a lot of crap because they don’t realize how often their coat needs to be taken care of. I brush my pup every other day and get her groomed about every 8 weeks. You can get them groomed with a “face, feet, and fanny” when they’re still young just so they can get used to it!
Treats! Lots and lots of treats! I bought these and have them on autoship every three weeks. These guys are all about positive reinforcement through treats, as far as I can tell. I carry six or seven treats with me at all times.
They are super smart. I recommend getting a puzzle feeder. Get her working for her food asap. Or a snuffle mat. Anything other than just a regular dog bowl.
Start thinking about what you want to train her to do. Mine learned to sit and shake in one day. Literally, one day. Keep a long list- they are super smart and can do it, and it's good for their brain development to learn new things. Keeps them from being too bored.
I do hide and seek with treats in my yard to get mine to do scent games. I mix those up. Today I rolled treats into peanut butter, then had him smell the peanut butter, then told him to find it in the yard. He found ten treats in my half acre fenced yard. Ten small treats, hidden under and on top of and in things.
They are super active. Invest in tennis balls, the kong frisbee, lots of chewing toys. They are smart and destructive. Does she look bored and won't touch her toys? Give her an ice cube with a treat inside- make her work for things.
My other dogs are so easy comparatively, but they are not nearly as smart!
Buy grooming stuff! You can go to r/doggrooming and there is a doodle subsection with suggestions. My puppy's hair is similar to yours, and it's a lot of work. Every day I sit down for about ten minutes and spray him down and then brush him out. Sometimes it's every other day, and I regret it, because it's a lot more work if you fall behind.
They get poop stuck to their butts. Keep an eye out for that. It's gross.
They drip beard water everywhere. Also gross, but kind of cute as well.
They chase things. If you have small children, talk to them about not running in the house.
Ours loved sticks too, but we found she would chew bits of bark off and cough on it. We ended up getting her one of the rubberized ones from Amazon and she loves it just as much with no bark bits to choke on, highly recommend! You just have to get over the resemblance to something else, which everyone jokes about

My Aussie doodle also has a very sensitive stomach. He just turned 1 in may. We had to play around with a few different dog foods to figure out what was the best fit for him.
We found this to be a good fit for him. Something grain free.
I've had these for about 6 months and ALL of them are still intact. they're floppy, full of squeakers(at least four squeaks in each one). and the best part, no stuffing. I can't explain it but my AD loves them.
I got pet corrector spray and hand to God it stopped the incessant puppy nipping immediately. Do not spray in puppy's face. It is the noise that works. Amazon.com has it. Pet Corrector Spray for Dogs 200ml- Dog Training and Correction Spray to Stop Barking, Prevent Unwanted Behaviors and Obedience Issues, Non Shock, Humane, Safe, Effective Deterrent https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0051GO5WM/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_SGW4EXYMDMK6ETFJZE5A
Once you use it, you can also mimic the noise it makes if you find yourself without it.
Hee biting was bad too. She was tearing up my hands. Oh, and gets lots of appropriate things for pup to chew on. That helps.

Maybe seek out a different vet. Id also contact the daycare, if he came home from daycare and developed an abscess, it seems possible that he was bitten at the daycare.
if he is still drinking, maybe try a liquid calorie supplement for dogs to make sure he is getting enough nutrition to fight the infection.

Perfect :) Chances are he will still need his paw pads trimmed every couple weeks, but if you start him young, it's simple to do at home.
[these](https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B089W594LC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) cheap mini clippers are perfect for getting in between their lil toes.
Yeah I completely hear you, free roaming those first couple months was a nightmare. Our trainer told us one super helpful tip about redirecting from chewing on rugs and furniture: always redirect with an object that is similar to what they're chewing on. For instance, if they're chewing on the carpet, give them something with flossy ends that works those same front teeth. If they're chewing on a chair leg, trying to redirect with a soft toy won't work because that's not the instinct they're trying to express. This was huge for us. Also bully springs, while expensive, have been by far the best thing we've brought into our day to day life. There was one rug he absolutely would not leave alone, and I eventually used a can of Pet Corrector on him - basically canned air that acts as a deterrent. I only had to use it once, combined with consistent redirecting, and he never went back.
Hopefully those longer naps work well for you! Give you guys a little time back into your day as well. Best of luck!
I actually give them a collagen power marketed specifically for dogs but I don't suspect it's any different, as long as you're using an unflavored, unsweetened powder. They also make caplets and chewy treats, but my dogs are picky so the powder is easiest for me.
I also really like these collagen chews
I can’t recommend a flirt pole enough. We also do 2-3 walks per day but the flirt pole is what really wears our 1 year old high-energy puppy. We play with it about 10-15 minutes a few times a day and it always wears her out for a couple hours after. The trick is to keep the toy animal just a few inches in front of their faces as best as you can. (My wife just waved it around in the air and doesn’t understand why the dog doesn’t get into it.)
Here’s the one we got off Amazon. It’s very sturdy and we love it: Outward Hound Interactive Dog Training Toys and Agility Kits https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0042I5G2I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_2M82043DYYSGEP58AXY8?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
It has two of them! And he still got out. My wife and I are absolutely baffled.

I love this fucking thing and so does the pup. Worth every penny.
I use two combs daily. First is a dematting comb with long blades followed by a human vent / skeleton brush. Dog combs aren’t strong enough.
Here are some links to show you what they look like but you can get them pretty much anywhere.

Maybe he is licking because of the hotspots and it’s not really the licking causing the redness?
Try this spray for the hot spots:

I also prefer to groom my Aussiedoodle at home. I bought a grooming kit off Amazon and it works great. We usually groom him when he’s exhausted, this means after a trip to the dog park. I watch a few videos of “go groomer” on YouTube, and bought some of the shampoos and conditioners she recommended. Grooming at home has been great, it saves money and you get to control how much fur your taking off! You won’t like this answer but please do not groom your dog with guards on clippers at home. Invest in proper clippers and proper length heads for them. I use these and they’re wonderful. They are not cheap but they don’t get hot and they’re the best thing for doodle coats. Andis Clippers

Omg same! I got her the beginner one cause she is only 3.5 months old, she finished it in less than a minute. Then I got her this one! This usually takes few minutes

> How do you let your pup sniff around without him getting into things he shouldn’t?
On walks - lots and lots of "leave it" training. I do leave it training with all the things he has ever shown interest in: paper towels, napkins, slippers, clothing, bags, human food, etc. And this is more than just training it with a "leave it" cue. I'll ask him to leave it, treat and reward, and then start increasing my distance away from him and treat and reward (without using a cue). This helps train his impulse control to make him less likely to go for things that I don't want him to go for.
It'll take some time, but eventually it translates somewhat well on walks. For actual walks, I always bring boiled chicken or deli meat. Something super high value to him so that when I ask him to leave it or drop it, he'll actually listen to me.
For home - pretty much the same as above. But also puppy proof your home better. Put things away in closets or make sure things are out of reach. For example, we've put away all of our throw pillows on our couch because we can't trust him with them. We close all doors to rooms. We have trash cans with lids on them.
Also - we just got this puzzle toy for him. Put some chicken jerky in there, and it took him 45 minutes to figure out. He was exhausted afterwards. YMMV of course, but it worked for us at least.
He does great with his pack, if he happens to see me move it in the house, he gets excited because he thinks he's going to hike.
He carries all of his own supplies for backpacking, which so far, has included up to 4 days of food, his collapsible bowls, doggy first aid, his bear bag, a comb, and a couple Sawyer squeeze water bottles which are typically empty unless we are going through a long dry section. All that fits with plenty of room to spare.
I've had him carry 4 liters of water a couple different times when we were dry camping. The thought has crossed my mind if making a myog cooler from refletix and having him carry a couple 6 packs, lol.
Here is his exact pack, I measured and the medium I ordered for him perfectly,. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01MZ9DIFP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_0UHwFb63VBCB5
For really long trips, the Ruff Wear Palisades may be better. For day hikes, I don't bother having him wear his pack at all, that would seem silly to me.
I just found a cheap one at my grocery store’s pet supplies section. It’s a pretty basic one, kinda like this:
Paw Brothers Extra Long Hard Pin Slicker Brush, Large https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014PFS2VE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ZxjqDbHHGG4R0
except a smaller size for my mini AD
I groom mine. I keep em trimmed down to about 3/4" an inch in the summer and maybe and inch 1/2 in the winter. I just use dog clippers with a guard. Start when they are young with grooming/brushing, and give em treats for being still. Touch/hold their feet often and reward em for not pulling away until theyre comfortable with it. it'll make nail and paw pad trimming easier when needed. If theyre scared of the clippers, intoduce em to them slowly. let em sniff, treat em, turn it on, treat em (when they arent flippin their shit) kinda comb em with the clippers with them off... etc.
As long as you start em early, and teach them to associate the tools with positive things.. you shouldnt have too much issue.
for mine, I generally hit the whole body with whatever length im going with, leave the noginn just a teeny bit longer (I like their fluffy noggins) I also skip the tail nub, cause I like lil lil puffy bunny tail too, then scissor trim their lil faces, and shave a butthole patch down real short for hygiene reasons. Brushing em out before clipping is also a good idea.
this is the particular set of clippers I use, and it works very well on both my doodles, ive got one with a wavy/aussie coat and one with the tight poodle curl. When using a guard, however, youve gotta pop the guard off after a few swipes and clear out the extra fur thats building up in there to keep em cutting smooth and even. im sure there are better options out there, but these work fine for me.
Very welcome. Looking forward to pics, so be sure to post!
Last thing I wanted to mention: this toy has been very helpful: Skinneeez stuffing-less dog toy. She really likes it and seems to enjoy sleeping with it.
Hey there! Congrats on the new pup. We just got ours, and we're using the book How to Train the Best Dog Ever. Training is going well so far on day 5 (she's 8 weeks old). She is really smart and a bit strong-willed, but man: she catches on fast.
Last night she slept through the night for the first time (yay!).
Do: prep your house by hiding shoes and anything below knee level. She is mouthing (light chewing) on about 75% of what she can reach. My girlfriend or I are with her at all times right now, so we quickly give her a toy when we see her biting anything. She REALLY likes running right by our feet, and it looks a lot like she's trying to herd us all ready.
She really likes the crate, as well. We got a blanket from the breeder that was in the enclosure with her and her siblings, and that's in her crate, which we feed her treats and snacks in and around. I think when they first come from the breeder, they're already used to some sort of barrier, so I think it's probably a great time to reinforce that the crate is a good place where fun things happen. We don't give her treats when she comes out--she shouldn't expect rewards when crate time ends, or she'll make a positive association with leaving the crate (learned that from the book!).
She really is pretty wonderful, and I wish you luck with your pup! I just posted a pic of Hazel aka Hazelnut aka Purple Haze in the main subreddit.
Hope this helps!
