Assuming the recording studio is not yours, and you actually are just starting out, maybe just get a decent multi-FX pedal to start? The Zoom B1X a fantastic, decently priced multi-FX pedal that comes with different effects, drum loops, a looper, a tuner, a wah (the list goes on). I bought one mostly for the loop and effects, but turned out to be a replacement for several of my pedals.
I've had my amplug for 4 years now and love using it. Affordable and really convenient. It even comes with 3 drum-beat tracks to play atop. here's a link if interested
It’s just a basic leather strap wide and strong enough to hold the weight of an EB. For a heavy bass, I’ve had a really good experience with the Ernie Ball polylock here’s a link. It’s wide enough to be comfortable and hold the bass plus it’s a locking strap that doesn’t require strap locks so it won’t fall off
This is helpful, I got one a few months back.

Hey dude, I’ve got a Yamaha TRBX505 and also broke the switch. I replaced it with one of these from Amazon (unfortunately had to buy a bag full...but at least I have plenty of replacements now; I’m pretty clumsy)
Edit: fixed formatting for link
If you are still looking for what to buy, I recommend this stuff. I shielded two guitars with it so far, and it is a very good price for how much you get. The adhesive is indeed conductive, so even without pressing two pieces together hard, you get a good contact. It isn't as thick as some of the stuff on the market (some of it is too thick to work well with), and it wasn't too much trouble at all.
I just cut a piece that fits length or width-wise into a cavity, press it down on one edge, then cut or press to fit the rest of it into shape. Remember that it takes a crazy amount of time and precision to fit it perfectly in a cavity, so any wrinkle will be removing space from that cavity. It won't matter much for control cavities, but it can make a pickup route a very tight fit.
I use Fender heavies, this shape. I use mediums for acoustic and electric guitar. I try to get the mediums in white and the heavies in tortoiseshell, to quickly and easily tell the difference at a glance.
I agree with dmicheals, lotta things are difficult with someone "set in their ways" so you definitely need to be a little off the norm. I agree with that suggestion of a drum machine (I believe that's what that one is) so that they will have something to play along with. I'll suggest a looper: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TXTJ9CN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_xgw2Fb2S2EFD8?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 That allows you to record a piece and have it play in loop so you can play along with it as well.
I just saw that.... Taking it you'd recommend? Another guy recommended I look into Ibanez.
Truth be told I am looking on Amazon because I have six months to pay it off. But if you think the sunburst is a better option....
GLS has a great cable quality with low price around 12~13 dollars. (But they might not have red)
But if you want lower price, you can find a lot of great cable at amazon Ex) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071KFTPFJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_167rCbW8A2J66
I got it on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/FLEOR-Celluloid-Pickguard-Mounting-American/dp/B076D72RX9/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=j+pickguard&qid=1602974411&sr=8-1
It’s cheap and does the job, but of course the overall quality is inferior to the original Fender pickguard; be aware that with this you will probably have to slightly move the control plate. Unfortunately Fender only sell pickguards with truss-rod notch (https://shop.fender.com/en-IT/parts/jazz-bass-parts/10-hole-contemporary-jazz-bass-pickguards/0074131000.html) and others that will probably not be good for the Player Series Jazz bass.
Potentially just some no name import stuff. A number of years back I got this super cheap 6 string on eBay from some dealer in Texas, sold under a brand called maestro. It showed up damaged and I sent it back, but it was like $200 so I had low expectations to begin with. I think this is the same as the bass I had, has some similar features to the one you’ve posted. Can’t say for sure you’re definitely looking at some cheap import but it does remind me of that.
Left handed tuners are less available but I found some on Amazon

Beaut!! I got a black bass recently and got this strap from amazon
Rayzm Guitar Strap/Bass Strap,... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01MDNQHTZ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I love how it matches and it a comfy n fairly cheap
My college jazz bass professor wrote a couple that I found to be very helpful for my students over the years:
Bass Sessions - Book 1
Bass Sessions - Book 2
I built the linked P-bass kit at the start of this year, got the body painted at a local body shop for $100, assembled it and stained the neck myself. Great tone and lightweight, although it does have some pretty serious neck dive. Not ever going to be factory-grade, but it’s my own work that I can take pride in.
I think this is the perfect time for OP to learn how to solder.
This is among the easiest wiring repairs to start with, and realistically, they can screw it up a dozen times and they'll still be better off than overpaying a guitar tech to do 30 seconds worth of work.
This 20$ soldering kit has more than enough to get the job done, and we live in a glorious era where just shouting "how do i wire a guitar jack?!" into your phone gives you thousands of detailed instructions, many with video and pictures to clarify.
That sounds great! Here are the links, thanks for checking it out:

Best 14$ bass finish repair kit out there, and you normally score and get at least a couple Limp Bizkit duplicates.
Nah, the yellow is beautiful. The pickguard combo makes it look bad though imho. I'd go with a cream pickguard, but that's just me. Something like this.
I hate to support Jeffy Bezos but I got these off of Amazon and they fit onto my Ibanez Gio.
Personally I love them! But that price is ridiculous. Like user Own-Profit9043 said, go to Amazon.
Yeah they use cheap import pots.
Honestly you’ll probably want to upgrade them any ways. You can get good pot set from Amazon . A jazz bass set should work for you since it’s for two pickups .
I once had a girlfriend who told me that some things weren't worth cheating out on. In her case it was shoes and bras. But I have taken that lesson and applied it to other things. Things like stands. When they're at home, my bass guitars rest on these Hercules stands. If I'm doing a gig where those aren't practical, I go with these foldable but sturdy smaller stands. Yeah, they're amazon basics and I'm talking about not cheating out, but I think in this case cheating out is not having a good stand when and where you need it. I have two of those small stands in my office right now and there aren't any guitars there at the moment! They're there in case I need them there.
Don't be cheap. Get good stands, get many stands, and use them everywhere.
stock pickup for the jag H is terrible & bad. its terri-bad. way too much low-end, permanently wired in series.
i replaced mine with a stock pickup from my Sterling Stingray. sounds better. I later added a 3-way switch for parallel/split/series to expand my sound options.
Im still thinking of going with this cheap $16 humbucker from Amazon. Lots of good reviews, seems like it should be able to get that stingray sound since the wires for both coils are exposed. i actually might buy it anyways just to see what it sounds like (and upload a video to YouTube since i cant find any videos of it in use).
if you wanna go high-end, maybe try a Seymour Duncan or Nordstrand humbucker.
This cheap-O one from Amazon. Fits fine, also fit my MiM Fender Jazz. Just loosen the control plate, install pick guard, re-tighten control plate. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071NLMK78/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Well, I am an American. Although I learned the setup measurements from a Canadian. I don't have strong opinions about what measurement units you use. (I keep this conversion chart handy.) What I feel strongly about is that you measure at all. A surprising number of people do not. I will add this, though. I have had conversations with people online who are struggling with their setup and when I ask what their neck relief is they say "it's .3 millimeters." I ask how they're measuring that and basically they're just splitting millimeters with their eyeballs on a ruler. I don't think that's accurate enough. Wow, I just looked at you can get metric feeler gauges. I should get this dual marked one. Final thought on neck relief: I've been told that the truss rod doesn't do much past the fret where the neck meets the body. That is why I hold the string down there. But I think it doesn't matter much, as long as you're consistent in how you do it.
Anyway, I do realize that different players will want different values for those measurements. But I will venture to say that most players will want lower action than their manufacturers recommend.
Something like this guy: https://www.amazon.com/Receptacle-Electrical-Klein-Tools-RT250/dp/B08QW7K1JJ/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=outlet+tester&qid=1660251535&sr=8-3
My house is from 1927, and the wiring was...exciting when I moved in. Even if you're not comfortable running Romex wiring, an outlet tester will at least let you check for ground. Any hardware store will have them, too.
I bought a 4 channel mixer. I Input my amp and my computer and output to either speakers or headphones. It was $40 and runs on a microusb power supply. The thing about the one I bought is that it accepts both mono and stereo, depending.
If you have a PC laptop, Rocksmith is a fun way to learn as well. You need the cable to play, but they're available. Guitar and bass tracks both. I haven't played that in a year or three. I just reminded my self, ha!
I have an alternative, but I'd suggest doing so after you have someone with experience set it up. There's a book called The Guitar Player Repair Guide. I know it's guitar focused but the luthier concepts are the same. It'll tell you the set up of electric and acoustic instruments as well as explaining common repairs. You might even be able to find it at your local library.
Hey fellow human, just thought I'd suggest alternative if in the future you want to handle your set up yourself (I'd still suggest having an experienced person set it up first). There's a book called The Guitar Player Repair Guide. It'll teach you how to do a setup on electric and acoustic as well has how to make the cheap bass more playable outside of intonation (ex. feel the roughness of the edge of the frets as you drag your hand along the neck). I know it's guitar focused but a lot of the luthier concepts are the same.
They are from Dr Strings and they are amazing quality. Good crisp sound i would say. And the last pair i had took a few months before the color came off. here there is a link for the 6 stringed :)
I've always found this book excellent for every kind of genre you can imagine, it's got examples of everything from bossa nova to funk.. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bass-Bible-Free-Audio-CDs/dp/3927190675

A great cheap soldering iron, packed with features is the Pinecil. $35, spend another $12 or so for a chicle tip, and from there as long as you have a fast charging USB-C charger you can run it. If you want to really run it good, get an generic apple macbook USB-C 60W charger. If you buy it from Pine64, pick up the silicon cable, it's worth the $4.
I use one that looks similar.

I have a few thoughts, but they depend on what you're using and what exactly you mean when you say it's moving as you play.
If the neck of the bass is moving up and down - you may have a neck heavy bass, balance issues will lead to it dipping down if you're not supporting the neck with your feet hand. This is called "neck dive", you can counteract it by putting on a heavier bridge and lighter tuners but that's somewhat involved and potentially costly. A cheaper but less effective way to address the issue is to get a wide leather strap like this. The wide surface area and texture of the leather will grip your shoulder, which means the bass moves less than it would using a nylon strap.
If you mean that the neck is moving front to back, your posture might be off. Ideally you'll have the body of the bass resting against your torso, with your plucking/picking arm resting against it. If your posture is off though, that can lead to unwanted movement along the horizontal plane.
If you are going for an aggressive tone I would get a Overdrive pedal. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004FEGXDK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_EC44MNT7Z6FQJXWSVJSV?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 I got this one as my first pedal and it sounded pretty good
Read a lot. The only way to build fluency in sight reading is to get in the habit of reading regularly.
I used Chuck Rainey's book The Complete Electric Bass Player. Drill with that for a few weeks and you'll be on your way.
https://www.amazon.com/Complete-Electric-Bass-Player-Book/dp/0825624258
Just got home and found this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/shengque-stock-4-strings-bass-rick-4003-style-electric-bass-for-sale/32748992007.html?spm=2114.01010208.3.210.AefcIG&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_1_10065_10068_10000009_10084_10000025_10083_10080_1000...
I would ask them about having them change out the truss plate for one without a logo or if they could etch dickbutt in it or something before I purchase it, if I was you. If you do please let me know how it goes, I've wanted an 8 string chibson and have had a hard time convincing myself that it would actually get here. (8 string short scales are hard to find for less than $400)
GLARRY 4 String GJazz Electric Bass Guitar Full Size Right Handed with Guitar Bag, Amp Cord and Beginner Kits (Burly Wood) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081SS3SPF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_T7G18XDQR6PSKNAWSXR5
I would focus on just working on one technique at a time like just getting the right feel for striking the string with your thumb. I’m definitely not a big slap guy but this is the book I used when I first started and reference when trying to build up some slap chops again Slap It: Funk Studies for the Electric Bass - MP3 Audio Download (GUITARE BASSE) https://www.amazon.com/dp/1598060066/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_navT_a_G4769RKVSD0JQEAB82J9
This one is a few dollars more, but honestly I would go with this. And get a bag separate, also better quality one. That kit doesn't come with an amp it looks like and the cables that it comes with are garbage. This gets you a better, name brand bass to start with in your price range. I'll link one thats $25 more than the one you have here. Also an Ibanez.
Here is a really great, affordable compressor and EQ in one that will completely transform your tone.
Compressor + EQ is pretty essential if you want to get into bass pedals, but after that you'll want to start looking into DI box preamp/overdrives like the SansAmp or Darkglass offerings. These will give you some great dirt, as well as give you the ability to have great tone plugged straight into a mixing board, PA, or computer.
If you want to start getting into slightly crazier effects, Hotone makes a really great teeny tiny octave pedal called the Harmony that will actually do a bunch of other harmonic intervals as well and tracks wonderfully. For fuzz, I personally love the sound of a bass through a EHX Big Muff, and there are a ton of variations to choose from. You may also want to check out the ProCo RAT or the many, many clones of it...I find it has a really awesome, dark, grindy distortion on bass that I can't really get with any other distortion.
He means the key of F# or E which comes from this: https://www.masterclass.com/classes/tom-morello-teaches-electric-guitar/chapters/riffs#transcript
The missing context, I think, is that he is speaking as a guitar player and in whatever tuning he uses typical rock/blues songs in F# or E has a preferred timbre that you wouldn’t get if you transposed it to A.
From a theory point of view, there’s nothing special about any particular key, but from the point of view of certain instruments there is a difference in timbre between keys and maybe difficulty to play also.
That’s my best guess short of watching the lesson where he says it.
Neither. Find a decent brand name bass used. Fender/Squire, Ibanez, Yamaha. All will be better than the models you mentioned. Might even retain their value (the others you mentioned will end up in the trash). There are better new options out there as well.
Ibanez 4 String Bass Guitar, Right, Transparent Red (GSRM20TR) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01199PW7Q/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_W9HRASXJZW99DG2NQYV6?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
This would be well within your budget (money leftover for upgrades if desired), comes in a variety of color options, and will serve you much better than the other models you mentioned. A great bass for a beginner and/or intermediate player.
Try using these. They are super light, which will be easier on your left hand muscles as you start building strength and dexterity. I’ve tried so many different types of round wound strings (I’m usually a short scale/flatwound string player) on my basses that I string with round wounds. I find myself going back to the D’Addarios time and time again. These are only $14, and if you don’t like them, Amazon allows for exchanges.

So awesome. Also, if you like this sort of thing, drop what you're doing and go buy Geddy Lee's book. The photos are fantastic, and the stories are surprisingly good. Only thing is you might need reenforced concrete shelving and a forklift for putting it on and taking it off the shelf. 😉
I have the Vox Bass aMplug and love it. I am really curious about the Blackstar amPlug2 FLY Guitar Headphone Amplifier
I use a usb-a to 1/4” jack cable I got when I purchased Rocksmith a while back. I don’t use it for Rocksmith much at all anymore (fun game, not so great learning tool), but I can plug it into my laptop or my iPad to record.
This isn’t the one I have, but it’s similar: Mugteeve 10FT Guitar to USB Cable Adapter, USB to 1/4" Electric Bass Guitar Cord for Recording, Quater Inch TS Male Jack to Computer USB Interface, Nylon Braided, OFC Shield, Plug-and-Play Connection https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08GLRPXCJ
It’s also a fairly cheap route, if you have software that accepts MIDI interfaces on your computer.
What kind of bass do you have? What kind of sound do you want? Strings change the sound and feel of your bass. There is a big question of personal taste when selecting strings. If you have a long scale fretted bass, then if probably go with something like this. Fender 7250 Bass Strings, 40-100 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003B0CHDO/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_VGF6ZKBRJ80Z4XWHZVTS They are my personal favorite strings. If you like eb, then Ernie Ball Regular Slinky Nickel Wound Bass Strings - 50-105 Gauge (P02832) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000MFL7UU/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_WNZ2MYCBMJ2PW4J8NNK0 are good also.
Short scale and fretless need different strings. Players with a soft touch want thinner ones and players that dig in hard what heavier strings generally.
Oh it's honestly super easy, don't be too worried about it. Here is some cheap copper tape you can use. Just pop off the pickguard and literally cover the whole inside of the cavity in the copper tape. It shouldn't take more than 15 minutes or so. If you look at the bottom of your pickup while it's out of the bass, you'll see a little bit of foam acting as a "spring" covering the pole pieces. Just take a strip of this copper tape and cover the center of this foam so that the copper makes contact with both the pole pieces of the pickup and the shielding in the body cavity you just installed. It sounds complicated but you'll see what I mean once you are in there. It's super easy. Worst case if you mess up you can just remove the tape and you're out $12. But it's really nothing to worry about.
Are you by any chance on the east cast of Scotland?
I have a VM 70's jazz bass (with some cosmetic damage, nothing that affects play though) that I'm trying to sell.

I like Perri’s Baseball Leather straps. Nice and wide, good leather, and won’t break the bank.
I am a big fan of Levi. For me the width is a trade off: you want it wide to distribute the load, but not so wide that it digs into your neck. This one is my fav: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000XPUORG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It is 3 and 3/8" wide, regardless of what the posted specs say.

Thanks! I took apart the tuning pegs and cleaned them with vinegar (lengthy process, gotta let them sit for a few hours and check on them every now and then). However, one of them was ruined in the process (refer to my comment above about vinegar and zinc alloys!). The threads on the post were gone, so wouldn't grab the big bolt that secures it from behind.
The tuning heads were pretty much intact as they're solid metal. One of them was very scratchy and worn off before cleaning, so needed some greasing once installed (vaseline did the trick just right). I ultimately changed all tuning pegs for safety sake, I bought MusicLily tuners off Amazon, here are the measurements (in mm, hope it helps) and these are the tuners. I'd say they're good value, and they're staying in tune pretty well, in case you'd want to drop a new set or just use parts these won't break the bank. Just a heads up, in my case the mounting plates didn't align so I used the stock ones. Everything else was pretty much a perfect fit, they come with some grease on them but a little bit more in the contact points doesn't hurt. Hope this helps!
Something to watch out for is you might end up with a lot of noise when connecting a line in from your computer. I had this happen, and it’s due to a ground loop (multiple grounds for your audio signal). I bought this to fix it: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B019FC6ZQQ
I hate how Ibanez labels their instruments but the model number is PCBE12MHOPN. I bought it on Amazon for $250, its good for the price imo but mine has some fret issues.
Here's a link to the Amazon listing
I use Gorgomyte (https://www.amazon.com/Gorgomyte-Fingerboard-Cleaning-Original-Version/dp/B00A9K386E) to clean the frets and fretboard and it is absolutely amazing. Note- this cannot be used on an unfinished maple neck, but a glossy finished maple neck is fine. You get 3 sheets in the package, but you cut the sheets up into small squares and work with that. I've cleaned 5 bass necks so far and have about half of the package left.
The brand name is KAISH. Honestly I took a gamble on it and it ended up looking way better than I expected:
D'Addario EXL280 Nickel Wound Piccolo Bass Strings, 20-52, Long Scale https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000OR6LLQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_7SK246THTF67GRNQPNP4
Those are the ones I used. I can’t say I wasn’t scared shitless when tuning them up lol.
Are you re-fretting or de-fretting?
Any tips for someone about to do the same?
I'm about to do this to my cheapo BCP, so the risk is lower. I'm planning to fill with white-oak strips I picked up on Etsy.
I’m sure folks have mentioned this already so you will have to forgive me:
Awesome first bass. I had the same but in a more midnight blue. You should be able to use the built in preamp and those pickups to sculpt a variety of tones until you find the one that says “yep, this is me”.
If you haven’t already, buy a practice amp. You can get a decent one for less than $100. If you have a little more money to spend, I recommend the Acoustic Bass B50C.
Start practicing with a metronome right away. It will become an invaluable tool! Finding a free one online is a Google search away but if you are in the market to buy one, I recommend this one: KLIQ MetroPitch - Metronome Tuner for All Instruments - with Guitar, Bass, Violin, Ukulele, and Chromatic Tuning Modes - Tone Generator - Carrying Pouch Included, Blue https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072636YXX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_MQk3FbDBSGGFY
Studybass.com has been recommended in previous comments. Check it out!
If you can, find a music teacher. They will provide feedback that online resources won’t be able to.
Most importantly, have fun and be patient with yourself. If you feel frustrated by, say, not being able to nail down a riff, pause, take a breath to loosen up, and break things down. Slow things down too and set micro goals (eg in 2 weeks, I’d like to nail down 2 major scales by memory). Those goals will accumulate and over time/ultimately ladder up to the larger goal of mastering the bass
Enjoy!!
Alright! So would a splitter like this work? Sorry if it’s is a dumb question kinda new to this stuff.
I was actually recently wondering the same thing. I found this clip on one from Gold Tone. It's out of stock right now and I've just been waiting. Hopefully there'll be a restock soon.
Honestly, I'd recommend this bass more than anything. A little more expensive, but if you could find one at a local guitar center it's about the same price as the bass you want.
If you prefer over ear headphone, I have been using these and really love them: Superlux Headphones they are semi open so there is a tad sound bleed but not bad. Also, comes with 1/4 adapter.
If you prefer in ear, this is a good cheap set of IEMs: KZT Pro they are also great, shorter cord though, and you would have to buy the 1/4 adapter separately.
I’ve been pleased with both, they aren’t high dollar hi-fi sets, but they beat most headphones I’ve used before.
On a related note, I will throw this out. An inexpensive, rechargeable, headphone bass amp. Even though you have an amp, this might be handy for silent practice.
I strung it with these: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002CZVS2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The bridge is pretty flimsy, although you can replace it easy enough if your bridge cracks. It legit felt like balsa wood when I was sanding it down... suuuuper cheap wood.
You will need a dedicated audio input for the bass.
These are cheap: USB audio Input/Output
You could use SoundFlower(free)/Loopback(expensive)/alternative internal audio router, to route the sound from laptop mic and the audio from the usb interface to your headphone output.
Zoom has options for selecting audio sources, so in the case above if you used SoundFlower to route the audio, it will appear in your list of audio devices, so you would select that.
Then you’re good to go.

It's just an Amazon cheapie. Just so you know, it's not exactly a perfect fit. The screw holes line up fine, but there are a couple very tiny gaps where you can see the edge of the control cavity. Like seriously tiny. You can't even see it from more than a foot away.

I’m no luthier, but I bet you could fix that pretty easily if you’re at all handy. You can get frets on amazon for cheap. You’ll likely need to put some filler in the slot, and you’ll also need to level and crown the fret. I know it sounds daunting, but it’s really not. Just look up videos and how-tos, take your time and be careful.
I got it on Amazon! Here's the link - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013FKW5PY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It wasn't a perfect fit - I had to take a dremel around the pickup cutout, but it was pretty easy to do!
It looks like it's flat out missing the output jack and it looks like it's made out of plastic. There's no way it would sound remotely decent and I think $50 is even asking too much for it. Also it looks like Amazon has the same thing new for $80
It’s an Ibanez I found on amazon. Ibanez PCBE12MHOPN 4-String Acoustic Bass Guitar https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00I0SDHKY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_5cQIEb18VTX2E
It’s pretty good! I’m used to resting my thumb on a pickup when I play so I glued the extra bridge that came with it as a thumb rest.
You can't go wrong with a $199.00 Fender/Squire. Not every one is great but they all can be made to play well with a proper setup be a pro luthier: https://www.amazon.com/Fender-Affinity-Precision-Beginnger-Electric/dp/B07B6PZG4L/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=Squire+PJ+bass&qid=1575182787&sr=8-2
i have an mxr one and its really nice. it’s thick and it feels substantial
I have one like this:
It has a line input so I can connect an ipod to it, as well as headphones, and play along without anyone hearing me!
There are lots and lots of options on Amazon. I have used this one, but there are cheaper options if you search for "guitar cavity shielding":

If you're looking for that type if bridge take a peek at the kick-ass bridge by hipshit too, it has adjustable string spacing on its saddles. I have one on my jazz bass and I love it. It fixed the bridge position good without having to fill/redrill.

I can't find the ones I had, that I have but my friend has these and they are really sturdy, I'm going to change over to these soon - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0009K9MUA/ref=cm_sw_r_wa_apa_McywBbCB23D24?th=1
I recently bought my first bass, a Fender Standard Jass Bass. I think the thing looks awesome, but I kind of wanted to customize it, and I thought the white pickguard was a little boring. A while ago I saw a strat with a green pickguard on r/guitar, so I searched on amazon and found some cheap replacements in many colors for $8. Ordered the green and it fit great. It came with shorter screws, as the pickguard isn't as thick as the original. But, I think it looks awesome. What do you guys think?
Not sure why the thumbnail is an error message, hmm.
Chiming in because I too am looking.
But here's a book I've been working through and so far finding quite good.

Be prepared for sore fingers, peeling and possibly blisters. I also recommend getting a D'Addario finger exerciser (primarily for your fretting hand). When I got one, within a week I noticed my fretting skills on my ring finger and pinky vastly improved.
I concur with everyone else as far as learning a couple core songs and get into that groove. After some time, you will start hitting the pocket on them.
Strongly recommend getting Rocksmith 2014 as well. It really helps quite a bit for beginners. You can get it for gaming consoles and PC but the PC handles the audio much better without the issues of lag like the console do.
Here is a the link for the finger exerciser.

Such a good call with Jaco. His how-to DVD is legit, ever see it? I'd highly recommend it. I barely practiced any of the scales (which is a shame) but it was fun to watch him and the jams.

Edit: Don't get me wrong McCartney is a boss as well but they're two different planes of existence know what I mean?
