I understand what it does, What I'm confused about is how it does it. Since the External address we are importing was not generated by Armory, how does it know what addresses contain funds? Since I could theoretically create thousands of addresses owned by one private key.

Shows only providing a Private key.
Hardware wallets like the one you're looking at or the Trezor are great options as long as you remember to back them up (and back up the back-up). Buying both BTC and ETH on https://Coinbase.com or whatever and then holding them in your wallet (exchanges are not wallets because you don't actually control the coins) for a few years has proven an excellent strategy.
Yup you are correct. Went back to fdroid and got the url ( https://f-droid.org/app/de.schildbach.wallet). I didn't even realize it was not from the core team. Perhaps I should consider switching wallets.
/u/keems is right. Never leave coins in a wallet at an exchange unless you're actively using them on that exchange. I personally have used Coinomi with great results. It supports BTC and a ton of altcoins and uses BIP39 to generate and derive private keys, which you can easily recover through their recovery tool.

Both services require you to trust proprietary, closed-source software. Coinbase is even worse because they manage "your" private keys server-side.
I suggest picking a wallet from https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet considering only those wallets without mouse-over warning.
Ecoinomi also launched a new multi cryptocurrency wallet called Ecoinomi Wallet.
It's got many exclusive features and it is very user-friendly.
This wallet allows you store a wide range of coins and tokens including Bitcoin, Dogecoin, Litecoin and many more.
One of the unique feature of Ecoinomi Wallet is that it allows us to create multiple wallets. Each wallet will have its own unique wallet address. It helps us to create different wallets for different coins and keep them well-organized.

You can download the beta version of the Economi Wallet for Android from play store. Please visit their website if you want to know more details about it.
Hello! It's just a friendly suggestion, check out highly secure Guarda light wallets for Android.
With all Guarda apps, you stay in the full control of your private keys and funds! Even more, all of them have an easy-to-use interface, built-in exchange service and coins purchase option with a bank card. Feedback is highly appreciated!
Any Bitcoin wallet on a phone can be used as a PoS device. In particular, blockchain merchant was created for this. Is what you're looking for integration with the rest of the PoS system for till reconcilation? Maybe Swish does that, but I'm not sure.
