They are not all the same, what you want is the lowest percent, highest heat rating.
The percent is roughly how long it will burn for, was sprayed with some stupid high amount of percent one time, I think it was 12%, felt it for several hours. so do not look for percent but SHU, Scoville Heat Units, higher the better, but at a low percent, like 0.5-2%.
You will.maybe get some contamination, so the short decon time helps.
I really like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00G0D33TG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_446W9QK1EQHBR1JGHQ2B
Fox labs 5.3 million SHU, I have seen people try to rub it off their face on the cement. It hurts like nothing else I have been sprayed with, but is gone in 1/2 hour. Well, tolerable...
RAT 2 is one of, if not THE best budget knives around. The Rat 1 & 2 are beloved by sooo many people. It would be a great choice. Try to get the one in D2 steel, if you can. It's a much better steel than AUS-8, which the RAT 2 also comes in.
Take a look at these as well:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0033HHEL0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_BAMDTMCD1WTE94C6GVX7
The mini bugout is also a very nice choice. Hope any of this helps!
It's a Chinese cheapo you can get from amazon also for $13 bucks. Probably 5cr13mov or something.
BTW in case you'd like an inexpensive beater that should (?) also conform to UK knife laws, check out the Sanrenmu 9051.
Same spring-tension slipjoint mechanism as you described for the UKPK but a more conventional look and feel otherwise. Had this one for quite a while and always found it a joy to carry. (if you don't feel strongly about tip-down carry, that is ;))
This knife surprised the hell outta me, right out of the box I was incredibly impressed. The flipping action is smooth and quick. Its thanks to the very tight detent. The jade g10 handles are sculpted very well and have no hot spots. The factory edge is very sharp and satisfying to cut with. Overall this knife feels more expensive than it really is. It can be found at aliexpress for just under 20 dollars! https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Newest-Kesiwo-folding-knife-Flipper-111-ball-bearing-D2-knife-blade-G10-handle-pocket-outdoor-survival/32684482922.html

Edit: the Ganzo firebird line also has a lot of following but I haven't bought any from them personally

I mean, for 12 bucks with one-day shipping from Amazon, I figured... why not, right?
Anyhow, who else to share this find with other than all of you budget bladers?
Here is a little walk around and action video.
Overall, it may be a little rough around the edges, but considering this thing was $11.90, I'm impressed.

I just found out that the Ganzo G724 has been discontinued. It seems Ganzo has pulled the pug on one of their best offerings, and supplies at many vendors are beginning to run out. I highly recommend this knife, its lightish very ergonomic, and just a joy to EDC. Why they are choosing to make more G704's and G726's over this I will never understand. If you want one, get one now before they are all gone.
Here I found another seller that has the jade in stock :) link
Amazing idea, I hadn't even thought that was a thing you could do.
Strangely, it doesn't look like any of the RAT 2s on the website are D2. Does this one look like it is to you: https://www.amazon.com/Ontario-Rat-II-Linerlock-D2/dp/B079YYBCHQ

But if you wanna go "Big Spender" this is one I personally have that's a fun little one for around $25. https://www.amazon.com/Eafengrow-Bearing-Flipper-Camping-Survival/dp/B082MZ4NMH/
For my hand it's just about perfect once you break it in a little. Lots of bad reviews because someone with a big monkey paw may have some issues. Also the "D2" steel is more like an AUS-8 which gets people all knotted up when they get in the specifics of magical mystical steels.
I posted a video 2 days of my Ganzo FH41.. Hands down its my favorite knife. Check my post history on here if you’d like to see it! Out of all the knives i own, it always ends up in my pocket lol.
If you handed it to me and told me its a $25 knife, I’d call you a liar haha. They make them in a few different color designs.
Whichever one you pick up, I’d love to hear your thoughts on it if you remember this! Lol
This one has a clip. Not deep carry, but... Also, great action.

This is not the style of folder that I would typically buy, but I've decided that I like it quite a bit. It's pretty hefty, which is one of the things to like about it. The blade is 4" of 12C27 and it weighs a good 8 1/2 oz. It's got good ergonomics, the handle is very chunky and that is a glassbreaker on the end, and it's pretty easy to deploy, with 3 methods of doing so (cutout, thumb studs, flipper). The pocket clip can be used tip up or down, and provides for pretty unobtrusive carry, being a deep carry clip and fairly short in length. I have knives that are much smaller than this one with much larger clips.
Picked it up on amazon, it's $27.83 w/shipping currently, so it is very budget friendly: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IJ94MR6/
If you like larger folders and you are looking for something a little different, check it out.
Kershaw Cryo II is a good bet, it comes in a few different configurations, mainly clip point or tanto blade, and TiNi coated/stainless handles vs. blackwash.
The clip point stainless version is on sale on amazon atm for $21: https://www.amazon.com/Kershaw-3-25-inch-Stainless-Full-Body-Carbo-Nitride/dp/B07NCVFGL6
If you're partial to the Delica, I'd go with the F759M. It's simple and light. I've been carrying one for 2 years. They coincidently have 4 different colors to choose from, too, on Amazon.
Although, if you do get them, you're going to want to file the thumb hole just a little bit before giving them away. That thumbhole comes out of the box a little uncomfortably sharp. I used the tapered diamond rod on my Sharpal.
To complicate things more, several web sights have the LK6 listed as D2.
The Gnome is an excellent Chinese D2 titanium frame lock. I liked it enough to give them for Christmas on several occasions. The machining and action are both top shelf. I've never found the original, but when it came onto the market a few years back, the internet consensus was that it is a copy of a high end design. So that that bit of hearsay for what you will. That said your LK6 clearly took more than passing inspiration for the Gnome.

OP, if your looking for something a but smaller here is the civivi odium, only 6.1" total length! This will very well be my next knife. After my first civivi (baklash) I think I'll remain loyal to the brand. They are definitely quality products.
This is one of the knives that most gets people ragging on Ganzo for making knock offs / clones. For comparison, take a look at the Ontario Rat II.

I’m admittedly not an oil expert, but picked this up recently after doing a little googling & Amazon-review research.
This I see regularly in YouTube knife vids:
It's a DNA 'Deluxe Mini'. Bought from Amazon, £10.09. Pretty good. It's very small but was super sharp right out of the box, is legal to carry in public in the UK as the blade is 1.5". Comes on a little chain which I have removed for aesthetic purposes. It's very much a baby knife but it's the start of my collection.

Two of these for $30 and change right now. Fantastic knife for the price. Dye one or both of them to your liking.
This is a knife by Albatross and I only got it to flip open and shut, and for that it is good. Solid fidget boi.
The steel is probably garbage but it did cut some real cardboard apart at work when I brought it to see if it had a decent edge (not some thin cardboard shit either, some actual packaging cardboard) but it feels like it would dull out fast for obvious reasons.
Not a fan of the naked hybrid karambit design, but M-Tech makes some decent knives if you avoid the ones with skulls, pot leaves and gold blades. I have this one and it’s a bargain at twice the price, the level of polish on the handle and blade is first rate. It also is spring assisted and is very flickable.
> I love blades and sharpening them and such but I an really not knowledgeable about steel.
Well I've got a treat for you:
Much if the same content is available in dead tree form:

Yes! It’s a double bladed too! Kershaw has a range of well reputed assisted openers, though none which look much like the CS, since they're flippers. I even found a dirt cheap knockoff of one which seems pretty decent so far. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08QD33JST/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

What's wrong with sticking with a Ganzo? I was in a similar situation when I worked supermarket produce and had to break down large multiply cardboard boxes. I'd watch guys making multiple cuts over and over again trying to get the tiny razor blade of a utility knife to cut through that thick cardboard and realized they were simply using the wrong tool. My work knife of choice was a Ganzo Firebird FH41 with a 3.5" flat grind blade in D2 tool steel that was a beast for slicing carboard if you keep it sharp. And Ganzo's D2 holds and edge longer than their 440C, in my experience. D2 is only semi-stainless steel, so I kept it away from wet jobs and carried a separate produce knife, which was a 6" Mercer Culinary Produce knife. Now, the 6" thin, flat grind blade of a produce knife will murder cardboard like nothing else, but I like to keep my knives that touch food separate from those I use for utility work. And, you might get looks if you carry a 6" fixed blade around for work, but definitely take a look at the Ganzo Firebird D2 blades. Their D2 steel test out at 62HRC or more, great build quality, wonderful manual flipper actions with good detents and solid lockup, very nice ergos, nice G10 scales. Ganzo Firebird knives are about the best folding knives on the market for under $25, IMHO.
The SanRenMu 7046 is the most unintimidating, inexpensive folding knife I've had. The shape of blade makes it an excellent utility knife. It's small with a thin profile, and easy to sharpen and clean. https://www.amazon.com/Sanrenmu-Folding-Pocket-Knife-function/dp/B0B2JKZBZ7
Here's one I've been eyeing but haven't pulled the trigger on cause I've bought a lot of knives recently
Don't mind the Kizer, I was already carrying that and it went well with the picture.
The Ganzo G720 is a beast.
The Albatross is fun to fidget with.
Both have really good G10 scales. The Albatross has a subtle pattern milled into the scales. The Ganzo's scales are fabulous.
I EDC a Brazen for all sorts of things… I work in a warehouse— so it is used to cut upon stretch-wrapped pallets, cut box straps, and slice open boxes & packages.
At home I used it to open Amazon packages, unpackage kids toys, cut open chicken feed bags… I like the tanto blade for scraping stickers off things.
I own a bunch of knives and my black Brazen tanto is my favorite. I feel like a caveman holding a piece of raw, razor-sharp obsidian when I use it, and for some reason that just feels so right and natural at a visceral level. Looks aside, the knife opens and closes very smooth, and the design is quite ergonomic and pleasant to hold.
I purchased this one a few months ago
I've carried it everyday for the past two months at work, have used it for general box break-down, splitting medications, opening kennel doors from the inside, and light cutting.
Though it is marked D2, I doubt that is actually the material utilized, as there has been no staining or spots despite the frequent use of caustic chemical exposure (that quickly stains my genuine D2 blades). The edge has held wonderfully, and the blade shape itself is easy to touch up when required. Lock-up isn't quite as tight as a Microtech, but no far off either.
For a budget OTF, I am honestly impressed. Personally, I don't care much for OTF's but I needed something I could quickly and easily operate one handed for accessing kennel locks from the inside, and didn't want to get something "nice" that was going to get destroyed at work. This one has impressed me, and has exceeded my expectations.
Alternately, people could buy the Land 810/910 if they want a really close Sebenza clone, albeit one with really decent build quality and one that can be bought over Amazon as opposed to DHGate or Aliexpress.
I think hes referring to this one: Ganzo G729
Try this, Crescent 3-1/2 Inch Harpoon Blade... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08842J8XH?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share d2 steel for a great price feels nice and solid I got mine 2 days ago and am really enjoying it, with that said match this with a utility knife and you'll be good to go, I'm a handyman and we all have our edc knife and utility knifes for the rough stuff
I would definitely say the Rat, or Rat II is a great knife. Really super bang for the buck.
The Sitivien ST110 is also great for ~ $27 US
I was kind of asking about import procedures / taxes, if someone ordered it here, then shipped it to you.

Basically yeah. They're made out of glass reinforced polymer like a power tool. They're super tough. The blades are also by far the best but fair warning, they're SCARY sharp. The bone or spur or pry bar or whatever is pretty solid as well, but it doesn't run all the way through the length of the tool so it isn't the best for super heavy duty prying. Great for most things though.
$11.50 on Amazon. They also carry this model at either Depot or Lowe's, can't remember which. I would also highly recommend the speed blades. They're the sharpest blades I've ever seen. Anywhere on anything basically. Very good japanese steel. A pack of blades probably costs more than the knife (for 50) but would last most people a lifetime. I used to use one daily at work and have gone through thousands of blades. Olfa is king.
If you ever buy a box cutter, buy an Olfa knife. Preferably the 18mm snap blade models. I would recommend this one.
Their wheel lock knives in the same style are also excellent although not one handed. All of their knives are fantastic. All of their blades are also the best I've used. The "speed blade" is the sharpest blade I've ever used and they hold an edge better than other blades as well.
I've gone through thousands of snap blades. Trust me, Olfa products are worth the investment. They last. They make the job easier. They are safer. They work better.
Seriously, if you haven't tried one and you treat box knives like they're disposable, just buy one of these and you'll have it for life if you don't lose it. They're tough as hell and they perform like no other. Just be careful. The blades are SCARY sharp.
These are highly sought after by the budget pocket knives community.

It’s really dope, I pulled it apart and cleaned, oiled and then stropped. By no means am I a professional so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I do own about 50 or 60 knives and I play with them a lot and this knife is fantastic, especially but not only because of the price. I do really like knives made out of old ferrier's rasps or files. I thought I'd give this thing a shot and I am not disappointed at all! Nice thick blade with palm filling micarta scales (important for bushcraft where you're pushing down hard for long periods of time), nice finger choil so I can get up close while doing more precise work, like feather sticks or point work.
Leather is a nice deep red bullhide, very good retention! I can flip it upside down and shake it, good quality.
I'm very happy with it!

I would have probably gone with this if I was getting another kizer In that price range. The swayback looks stupid sexy as well.
Sanrenmu 7010. It's small (which I sometimes really like), but pretty impressive at under $20. Sanrenmu 7010 Folding Pocket Knife EDC Knife 12C27 Blade Frame Lock Stainless Steel Handle with Clip https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GMMPIK2/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_MESC05MWPYJ49QBMEKE5?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Here it is next to my Shaman for a size comparison. This knife feels so good in the hand, maybe the best out of my collection. It’s also available in an OD green.
I'm not sure if this Damascus is "real". It could be lasered onto the blade because I don't see the layers on the spine. Regardless - it has great action and Carbon Fiber and Titanium. I'm aware this knife is over $50, but Sitivien is a "budget blade" brand.
I had this on my wishlist forever and finally pulled the trigger. I’m quite happy with it so far. Great blade shape.

It reminds me of a steel will cutjack or even the Ontario rat, but those are liner locks...
The Kershaw is 4.5", the cold steel 4". Sounds about how I like my handles also, but for lock type I really can't help. Check out ganzo and see what the length is closed.
