I use mats and a box that the cat enters from the top. It works well. I also find that staying on top of vacuuming the area (every 1-2 days) helps a lot, too. If I can't vacuum (due to illness) it always seems like it gets exponentially worse when I do get to it again.
My cats both hate having their nails trimmed. I have a grooming bag that they get wrestled into. There are zippered holes in the bottom that you pull their legs through one at a time so there's less danger of being ribboned and the cat is easier to handle. Sometimes they come with a muzzle/blindfold, too. Makes the whole ordeal less stressful for everyone. Here's a link the one I have on Amazon.
I have a vivaglory one that’s metal and the cut outs resemble a cats face. 10/10.

FYI, Amazon links that you copy directly from a browser are often super long like the one you posted. But you can strip out everything after the ASIN number, and the link will still work but be less annoyingly long. For example, your link would be:
https://www.amazon.com/Colarlemo-Adjustable-Temperature-Resistant-Waterproof/dp/B0B6NVCH9H/
I would wake up with my male cat sleeping on me, which would sometimes cause my legs to fall asleep (he’s pretty heavy). I ended up getting a heating pad for pets.
It has a digital temp setting and timer. I placed it at the bottom of my bed, and he sleeps on it every night.
It looks like this one on Amazon fits too. There's a photo in the reviews of it in a surefeed feeder.
Smart Cat Box collects urine in a reservoir for exactly this purpose. That worked well for us for many years.
Have you considered using a glucometer and ear sticks for a more accurate reading? We found it intimidating at first but easily manageable with a little practice. The Feline Diabetes Message Board has tips and lots of people willing to lend moral support!
I’m going through this exact same situation. My cat absolutely wouldn’t use anything that wasn’t litter. I finally found Kit4Cat hydrophobic cat litter. It’s made for kitties that need their urine collected. It’s sold on Amazon and chewy. Just search hydrophobic cat litter and it should come up.
Maybe the box is too small and he is aiming for it and missing? Also, if you have more than one cat you should have at least 3 litter boxes. The rule is one box for each cat plus one- they don't always like to share. I have found that mine tend to pee in 2 boxes and strictly poop in one of the other boxes.
Mine had the same problem but with PEEING ON EVERYTHING ESP MY CLOTHES!! To get him to stop my vet prescribed Prozac for his anxiety which did work wonderfully and then I used "cat attract" litter found here. While it was a bit pricey, once I went through 2 bags and he got the hang of the box, I went back to regular cheaper litter with no issue.
I also found that BOX PLACEMENT is extremely important. My anxious pee-er likes his box up against the corner of a wall but in an open area so he can see if anyone is approaching and so that there's nowhere for his brother to hide and wait for him to come out to launch an attack. Try moving the box around to different spots and see if that helps at all.
Have you tried these?
These are the scratching posts my cat uses. He likes to do a full body stretch as u/PlanningVigilante describes in an earlier post.

Once a cat person or marks in a spot, if it’s not cleaned with an enzymatic cleaner, the cat can still smell it, and will pee or mark there again. I use Nature’s Miracle. Not sure what’s available where you are.
It’s better to get cats fixed before they start marking.
Good luck to you!
There is a product that is a motion sensor canned air deterrent which is nice because it work every time the cats are on the counter and no just when you see them. However you should also make sure that you have other surfaces like cat trees or shelves that the cats can climb on since they love to be up high.
We bought a small corridor dog door , like this one https://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%82%BB%E3%83%BC%E3%83%95%E3%83%86%E3%82%A3%E3%83%9A%E3%83%83%E3%83%88%E3%82%B2%E3%83%BC%E3%83%88-%E3%82%AA%E3%83%BC%E3%83%88%E3%82%AF%E3%83%AD%E3%83%BC%E3%82%BA-%E9%AB%98%E3%81%95100%EF%BD%83%EF%BD%8D-%E3%83%89%E3%82%A2... and took away one of the cercando bars so the cat can pass but the dog no.
I used pet corrector. See link below. One of my cats was very persistent and this was the only thing that worked. It took a couple nights to fix his habit but only a couple sprays each night and he left me alone. I keep my door closed and have it beside me in bed. When he scratched, I would only depress it once. Repeat for each time he scratches. It won't take long. Do not spray directly at the cat.

Both my cats do this - they’ll dig for a full minute after pooping. I have covered litter boxes and mats like this one Chewy litter mat
We moved three cats from CA to AR a few years ago. We had two of them in something like the house linked below (if that’s allowed)….if not, google ‘cat house for travel’ and there are lots of options. You can likely go smaller for one cat and she’ll still have more room than a carrier. It also gave us space for a litter box, beds, and toys, but you may not need that for a shorter trip. You can also create somewhere in it for her to hide (we had a covered cat bed and one of our cats loved it).
The third cat rode on my lap with a harness and leash. He’s 20lbs and breaks out of carriers, so we didn’t have another option. It worked alright. I had the leash buckled into my seatbelt to avoid any escaping.
We also got meds from the vet which we only needed for one cat. But we were glad we had with us.
As far as the new house, we pretty much gave them free reign, but they just wanted to chill in our bedroom and closet once they’d looked around. Prior to the move, we didn’t let them in the bedroom at night, but we made an exception for several weeks post move while they got comfortable.
Chewy com has some of their own brand (Frisco) heavy duty cat trees. I have this one and really like it. The hammock/basket thing is supported on two ends not just one so it’s sturdier. https://www.chewy.com/frisco-65-in-xxl-heavy-duty-cat-tree/dp/240963
You can buy double sided tape or panels to apply to the areas of the couch that the cat uses for scratching. I placed some near the arms of my couch where my cats were scratching and they stopped. I left it there for a few weeks after they stopped, and then removed it.

In that case, cat wipes are a much better (and less slice and dice) solution.
https://www.chewy.com/jw-pet-cat-crazies-cat-toy/dp/209407
you should buy him something like these. my cat loves them because they’re easy to pick up with his mouth/ paws. he carries them everywhere and sends them scattering. and they’re very cheap and easy to replace
There are quite a few like this design, all with slightly different features, if you search up flippable cat boxes you can see the different models
I have a cat that does this, and it's called doordashing.
I live in an apartment complex, so my front door leads into a hallway, but my backyard leads into a nature park. I can say he has gotten away from me 10 times, and I have only had him a 1 year lol 😆. But the thing that brings him back?
His name. I taught him his name and how to walk on a harness. He will walk on a lease, and I call his name so the few times he doesn't have it? He comes back, or I can convince him we are walking and just walk back in the door.
2 other options.
A Christmas bell set on the door. The noise might make him uncomfortable from the door.

It's basically a soft air can that surprises them, and they don't know where it comes from, so they will stay away wherever you put it. I have one by the door of the laundry room, and he never comes over; it's great. I don't move it to the front because I personally want him to walk out the door on our walks, but you could still put it there and just pick him up if you want. All up to you!
Hope this helps.
I use a cat tooth paste that has an enzyme that cleans their teeth and breath. It also helps that its like a soft at treat! Here is a link.

Another tip is that maybe for water try to use a big dog bowl. Like I am talking 10inch wide and 3inch deep. My cat likes to drink out of that just as much as his fountain if not more. I would suggest a ceramic one from like petsmart.
I got you fam!
I have 2 kitties that need meds every 2 weeks... both my bois are so sweet but get them in the bathroom for meds and nail clips and they scream like K-Pop fans!
Anyway you need this treat that you hide the pill in. There are 3 tricks.
The Salmon flavor hides the drugs the best.
Use one hand to hold the treat and never use the same hand ✋️ that handles the medication touch the treat. The reason for this is that you don't want to have medication smell or taste on the treat. PRO tip I use gloves or you have to wash your hands and that can mess with the medication.
In-between feeding the treat with medication feed a blank so your baby likes the treat and won't tell the difference. In your case you can feed one with meds at night and one in the morning.
Here is the treat and yes you can feed it with antibiotics and with the pets having medical problems. Been doing it for a year for my bois and the vets says they are doing well.
https://www.chewy.com/greenies-pill-pockets-feline-salmon/dp/33780
You can get it at Petsmart if you need it now and if your cats don't like it they will take it back.
I use a treat ball to keep my cat occupied when he’s annoying me (I just put his usual food in it). Maybe put one out at night and leave him to work on it all night which might give you some peace?

You really need to invest in one or two waterproof mattress protectors. They go over your mattress like a fitted sheet. The newer ones are much better than the ones made of vinyl that were uncomfortable to sleep on. There’s no crinkling sound when you move.

Will your cat use a litter box with a lid? If so, this one is great because you don’t have to take the lid completely off to sift it. It keeps odor in pretty well. It’s pretty large though, so I’d make sure it will fit wherever you plan on putting it.
I love, love, love that litter, and have been using it for years. I don’t skimp on the amount I put in the litter box, and I scoop it into the Litter Genie (see my other post here). If the amount of litter in the box is low, I’ll add more litter and use the litter scoop to mix the fresh litter in with the existing. It makes it seem as if the litter is new. I typically empty and wash the litter box every couple of months.
This is the best litter scoop for WBC litter…

Not sure if they have Litter Genies available in the UK or not, but that’s what I use to dispose of waste from the litter box. After the waste is “jettisoned” into the Genie and the lid is shut, the smell is contained. The Litter Genie and the refills are available on Amazon in the US, so they might be available on Amazon in the UK. (Amazon also Carrie’s a cheaper off brand refills).

There is the Dr. Elsey's brand I've used before. It's listed as 99.9% dust free and hypo allergenic. Might be worth checking out. It's popular enough that should be able to find easy in stores. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009X29WK/
I have a few solutions!

First, get one of these or something similar to put outside your roommates door - it will scare your cat away and it's motion detected
https://www.amazon.com/PetSafe-Deterrent-Activated-Repellent-Environmentally/dp/B0721735K9

Next, make sure you set aside at least 30 minutes EVERY night to play with your cat. This will get that energy out and help her to relax through the night. Leaving toys out is not enough.

Good luck!
Maybe consider buying special bowls that only open for the cat? for example…
This should mean, baby can’t play with the contents but cat can still eat and drink when it wants to — without placing food by litter since this is unhygienic, inappropriate and in the worst case scenario, dangerous.
I recommend getting a Furminator if you don’t already have one :) it’s great at pulling a lot of trapped hair out! Just do nice easy gentle short brushies and gradually you can be more firm/ comfortable when your kit gets more used to how different it is.
One thing that I use to dispose of the waste from the litter box is the Litter Genie. Once the waste is in the Litter Genie, it no longer smells. Of course the smell will linger from the kitty pooping. I have 2 cats and use scoop able litter, and have to empty the Litter Genie every 2 to 3 weeks. It beats running stinky litter out to the garbage can every time kitty goes.
Also Amazon carries a generic version of the refill, which is a little less expensive than the name brand. A friend of mine uses kitchen garbage bags instead of the refills.

We use this one: https://www.amazon.com/Cat-Mate-Pet-Fountain-Fluid/dp/B001TY5D6C
It is not too loud, easy to clean, but plastic. Probably ceramic / metal ones are better, but heavier.
You can’t force anyone to care about anything. If your roommate isn’t doing it because they don’t care, there’s probably nothing you can do about it. If you have had trouble resolving issues with your roommate, you run the risk of creating a “backswing of defiance.” If your roommate is reasonable (guessing they are not,) remember that you catch more flies with honey. Be positive and supportive. If you’re apprehensive to say anything, just start gently teasing/picking the mats out from the outside first and see how the cat handles the process. Use a straight metal comb with two sets of teeth, you don’t want something too fine. The mats will be an ongoing issue, better to get out from under it with a proactive mindset ASAP. As a suggestion, my cats will let me get away with doing all kinds of things, like brushing mats and trimming nails, if I have some sort of treats nearby. Just a quick Google search presented this option for under $10. https://www.chewy.com/babyliss-pro-pet-6-basic-pet-comb/dp/238369 Good luck and good on ya for reaching out when you need help.
Honestly I would just take the kitty to a groomer. I recently adopted a cat from someone who couldn’t care for her anymore and she was in the same condition. Totally covered in mats. It can be dangerous to cut them out if we don’t know what we’re doing, so I just took her to a groomer to have her shaved. I think it was about $100, kinda pricy, but now I can keep up with her brushing.
If that’s totally out of budget, there are little comb things like this that work okay with lots of patience. Maybe combine that with a cat safe detangler?
Thank you for caring about the sweet kitty.
I have this cat mate fountain and one of my cats still drinks like a weirdo. So many options yet, it looks like he just licks the plastic side.
Also a new cat owner here. The vet told me that a soft sided carrier is more comfortable for the cat. I bought mine on Amazon, maybe you can find a similar one.
I also see some disposable cat litter trays on Amazon, maybe you can use those for when you’re visiting other homes so it’s easier than lugging around a bulky cat litter tray.

I have one similar to this
I've some luck with Easy Pill, a soft treat which you squish around the pill making it very difficult for them to eat the treat without the pill. Before I would always find the food eaten and the pill on the floor but not with this.
You give them a decoy bit with no pill in before and after so they don't start to associate it with pills.

I did carrier to pen! Would’ve been hard to carry the pen out, but it was flexible, so not impossible. Here’s a link to it— it was pricey, but it was so worth it. Drive was 12 hours and I was relieved to know they could move around a bit.
I drove across the country with three cats. Definitely agree on meds from the vet.
If you’re driving we used a covered playpen type thing for them to ride in. I’ll link something similar below if I’m able. But it gave them room to wander if they wanted to and we could bring a litter box. Definitely make sure they have something to hide in…we had to Frankenstein something together since one of ours wouldn’t get out of the litter box.
I can't speak on issues with the cat's health, but get this waterproof blanket and leave it over the bed when unattended

A neat trick you can try to normalize feeding time is to use one of those 'slow feeder bowls'. This will tie up the bigger of the two for a longer time, allowing it to the smaller one!
LOL. But..... you can get this cool sticky tape that makes them stay away from scratching the furniture. We used it and broke the cats of that after about a week. You can buy it on amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Panther-Armor-Scratch-Deterrent-Tape/dp/B088KK66R2/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?crid=2FY7YTCR4M6UJ&dchild=1&keywords=anti-scratch+furniture+protector&qid=1628292451&sprefix=anti-scrat%2Caps%2C173&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzUVg3UUxHWFgxNjU0JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUExMDAyMDE1RzI3NjZZMkVNSTFYJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA4OTQ1MzQyRjBCRjZBMjhMU0M2JndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==
We use this litter. It clumps really hard clumps, so it's best to get liners for the box. But it's anti-tracking. Hardly any litter on the floor which also means hardly any litter on the toesies. Maybe it would help you too.
For furniture this thing is a life saver. My non cat owning friends always remind each other not to wear black to my house cause of the hair lol but this thing picks up a lot of hair super quick so I can get my furniture to an acceptable condition before they get there.
