I’m not much of a math guy so I can’t tell you if you’re right or wrong. But I did want to link to this tweet which contains an “immunity calculator” for a given population. The guy who made it, Youyang Gu, has created some pretty good models throughout the pandemic. Try plugging in your numbers to his calculator and see if it agrees with your take.

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) today announced 1,980 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 50 additional deaths.

• Champaign County: 1 female 60s
• Cook County: 1 female 30s, 1 male 30s, 2 males 40s, 2 females 50s, 3 males 50s, 1 female 60s, 2 males 60s, 3 females 70s, 8 males 70s, 4 females 80s, 6 males 80s, 1 male 90s
• DuPage County: 1 male 60s, 1 male 70s
• Jasper County: 1 female 80s
• Jefferson County: 1 female 80s, 1 male 80s, 1 female 90s
• Madison County: 1 female 60s
• Rock Island County: 1 male 50s, 1 male 70s
• Sangamon County: 2 males 80s
• Will County: 1 male 50s, 1 male 70s, 1 female 80s

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 45,883 cases, including 1,983 deaths, in 96 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years.  Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have processed 12,676 specimens for a total of 227,628.

I am in a northern suburb and our 2 local hospitals seem to be faring well as of 12/23 per the hospital bed site linked in other post. My family and friends are spread out over Chicago and Northwest Indiana and tend to be on the cautious end of the spectrum covid-wise. Most cases and testing in this group recently then ever before. Nothing serious. Almost all vaxxed and mostly boosted.

Yeah right everything establishment doesn’t like is a conspiracy theory! Unbelievable.

I will not be vaccinating my kids for Covid when they are under 10. They have all also had covid and literally the most mild illness of their childhood, common colds were more bothersome.

I caught Covid right before my first vaccine appointment was scheduled, tested positive 2 days before. Even though I took every possible precaution, I wore KN95 everywhere I went. I’ve also been vaccinated after recovering. I’m not anti vax

I in no way agree with Kennedy on much of what he is saying. However he has some valid points.

There is a reason the book is a #1 seller right now. It’s not Infowars stuff to claim public health officials have overstepped their authority and mandate. They also appear to be generally be very uneducated in history and sociology.

You can post on your local NextDoor.com and see if there are people in your area that need help. They have a special help section that allows people to post that they can be contacted for specific things you are willing to do to help. They also may know of organizations that can use help.

I think it's reasonable to expect people to do some self-triaging, but it's important for that message to be thoroughly disseminated--early messages were still "Go to the doctor!"--and for people to have easy access to an explanation of the process. I can get more information off of NextDoor.com than I can off of my health system's website.

I'm a documentary filmmaker creating a feature length film composed entirely of community video submissions submitted daily as the COVID-19 pandemic progresses. We are looking for people (anyone!) to submit daily or at least frequent short videos documenting and discussing their lives during this pandemic. Everyone is in this together but experiencing so many different things, so we want to use the power of cell phones and the internet to create a global picture of how humans are fighting and coping with COVID-19.
