I find Mubi is really good for obscure modern art house, whereas Criterion has more older titles. You can get a free trial with a referral code, here’s mine if you want to use it.
Thanks, as usual, u/Happy_face_caller, for starting this thread! The Trakt version of the list will be built-out a bit later.
This month, Australian New Wave takes the pole position for oldest collection with losses. Here are this month's loss numbers for all the collections:
Whatever you watch, folks, enjoy!
Apologies, folks, I posted this on the wrong thread.
And here's the Trakt version of the list, ordered by collection. The pole position for collections goes to the oldest, which this month was Herschell Gordon Lewis. Shouldn't that be a collection that leaves in October or November? Anyway, here are the collections with films leaving this month:
Whatever you watch, folks, enjoy!
No big shock that I'm voting for István Szabó. The first two entries of his Central European Trilogy have been restored recently by Kino Lorber, and are available à la carte from their streaming platform. He's been deserving of the full treatment for many, many years, and I hope that can happen while he's still with us.
movielens.org is what I use. It advertises itself as "Non-commercial, personalized movie recommendations". I like that it predicts what I'll rate a movie. It's usually within half a star of my actual rating.
As far as I know, Criterion is currently only available to people who reside in the U.S. and Canada, so, no VPN is required if you live in either one of those countries.
I live in NYC, and never used the app while connected to a VPN. But I just tested the channel with a VPN via ExpressVPN, and it worked just fine for me (I know some streaming services have cracked down and detected VPNs).
As I finish typing this out, I realize I probably wasn't any help to you since you've managed to successfully connect to it while viewing it in South America! Maybe it was a lapse in the site? Happy watching. ✌️
Basically, before going to your browser or the app. I used NordVPN to connect to Hong Kong. then went to the app or searched netflix on a browser and it will change your region to Hong Kong. Simple. Enjoy watching :)
I used ExpressVPN and it works like a charm. Best part is that apparently the location gets stored in your cache so you only have to use it a couple times and then you’re good to go forever. You could even get a refund if you mail them.
The discount never goes away and it'll always have that discount. It's a marketing ploy but I'm not really appalled by it. I actually use NordVPN because it's the fastest when it comes to internet browsing/streaming
As usual, thanks for doing this, /u/Happy_face_caller! The Trakt version of /u/slouchingbethlehem's list will be populated tomorrow after I get some sleep.
In the meantime, the Ross Brothers take the pole position for oldest collection this month. Here are the loss numbers for all the collections:
Whatever you watch, folks, enjoy!
Thanks, /u/slouchingbethlehem!
Here's the Trakt version of the list.
Charles Burnett has the pole position (oldest collection) this month in an unannounced collection return. Céline Sciamma would have otherwise had that position.
The following collections will be losing films this month:

Here's the Trakt version of the list.
I put the Albert Brooks films in the pole position, even though a collection was never announced on the monthly blogs. The only film announced was Mother, in May 2019, so if he had a collection, it would be the oldest. I'm undecided as to whether this is a good idea, so if someone has a strong objection, let me know.
Tsai Ming-Liang would otherwise have the pole position.
Also, I put the other versions of The Killers after the Robert Siodmak collection.

I'll post my August plans in a few hours.
And here's the Trakt version. The following collections have items leaving at the end of this month:
I finished the Saul Bass collection last month, so this month I want to finish the Frances Marion collection and start in on the Godard.
You're welcome to import the older lists from my Trakt account. The older lists are at the bottom. I've been keeping this kind of info for my own purposes since the Filmstruck days, and after getting a lot of questions, finally started building them out in Trakt. I also appreciate reading everyone's thoughts and recommendations.
And here's the version for Trakt users. It's organized by collection. The following collections have at least 2 items leaving at the end of June:
Wicker Man is free on Prime. Prime Link to Wicker Man
I am always disappointed when it comes to horror. So many really obscure titles still to be re-discovered and restored.
That happened to me too. I have Private Internet Access and using Chrome browser on Windows 10. I start a video on Criterion, and it's extremely pixelated. If I disconnect from the VPN and then reconnect, the video pauses but when I click play, it then plays in high resolution. This only happens with Criterion Channel, I don't have this problem with any other streaming services.
