Otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it until she actually shows an interest. Then get down on her level and have a simple but earnest conversation "furnace hot, do not touch." Then be prepared for her to learn the lesson the hard way.

I think you’ve got a good idea, though I might recommend something like this which has a little bit more novelty to it. Similar to what you already selected but a bit more versatility. Something like this could take the place of multiple tools if he has a smaller tool bag he carries in his car or on the boat.
Honestly he’ll be happy with whatever you get him because obviously you are putting thought into it and that’s going to mean more to him than the actual gift.

When i was growing up we had a book called: Good Times. I managed to find one and ordered it off Amazon. I well be using it when my kids get older. It is full of activities you can do with the Kids. They don't print it anymore so you may find a used one. Good Times (Every Kid's Book of Things To Do) https://www.amazon.com/dp/0553011626/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_sokZBbV7X9G56
What’s your budget? Amazon’s got some sick looking Star Wars Drones. This Tie Fighter is on sale but check that X-Wing and Speeder Bike!
I’ll jump on the band wagon of recommending the Infant Optics DR-8. We’ve been using it for my son for 2.5 years, and it has been great. The resolution and zoom are good enough so you can tell (most of the time) whether your infant is breathing by watching the rise and fall of their chest.
I would also recommend looking in to the larger battery that you can get. The stock battery started to fail on us recently, and this larger battery has been awesome. It is pretty big, but it can run the monitor for 24 hours, which is great when you have baby brain and forget to turn it off after naps or plug it in at night.

1 monitor can be connected with up to 4 different cameras. Simple to setup and use, and we didn't want a wifi camera that we would need to use a phone to access, monitor runs all night plugged in. Also, this is like cctv and no one can access the feed for nefarious purposes, like what happened with RING cameras iirc. Also, sometimes when visiting family you need to bring the camera and family doesn't always have wifi, or good wifi anyway.
I recommend the HelloBaby Monitor and this flexible arm you can wrap around anything (Aobelieve Flexible Mount for Hello Baby Monitor, Compatible with HelloBaby HB65 and HB66 Baby Camera https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09BBK39V6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_2K954P0G807ZMTMWFBB9?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1)
My wife and I got Covid from being in the hospital (fun stuff) so we really relied on this camera to limit exposure to our baby when we first got home. The view can be rotated up, down, left, and right remotely. I hope this helps!
Very tough. Very common. Good luck. Here's a book I like that's kind of on the topic. Some of the stuff is kind off off the wall in terms of who their audience is (like the kinds of things people say to each either) but it may prove useful.

Fishing back packs are actually super convenient I’ve found. Tons of pocket sizes, straps and loops to hang things off of with carabiners, they’re always padded and vented which always helps. This is the one I use

We had a similar problem, though not quite as bad. My 3yo son started peeing through everything at night when he was about 6mo and hasn’t stopped yet. We did the same as you going up a size for nighttime, though we have always used pampers.
We finally went to the overnights and it helped a little, but he still peed through to his mattress pad. Someone told us of Sposie Pads that are for extra absorbency. I know that you are having blowout issues, but these Sposie Pads may help absorb some of the liquid to prevent it from blowing all the way out. We had to go to a size higher for the overnights to accommodate the Sposie Pads.
I recommend mynoise.net
you can get a bunch of online noise generators for free, or donate what you want and get access to hundreds. There's an accompanying app too. The guy who made it is super dedicated to sound and the engineering/recording side of things, you can tell how enthusiastic he is for field recordings. Also some of the noise generators are just great for putting on in the background sometimes - a spring walk through countryside, a babbling brook, a laundromat(!), a restaurant. etc, or white (pink/gray/brown) noise which you can calibrate for your particular speakers. My personal favourite is the gregorian chant generator - I find this one super calming to have on when I am working.
Unconditionally show your love to the kids. As a father, I always try to fulfill what my son wants. But on some problems, I say no firmly. I'd like to share a story with him. Last month, I got an iPhone X and placed the previous iPhone 7 at home. To keep it from the sight of my son, I locked it in the desk drawer. However, one day he happened to find the phone when he looked for a toy car. Then he wants me to unlock the phone blet because he wanted to play. At first, I refused because I didn't want him to access the phone too early. I explained to him patiently that he was still too young to use a phone now. He was very angry, and then he cried out. My wife came joined in when she heard the cry. She quarreled with me because of this. I was angry too. Later on, I reflected and felt sorry for my son. I really love him, but sometimes I was too strict. After deep consideration, I handed the phone to this boy on which a parental control app was installed. I told him that he can only play the phone for 30 mins every morning and afternoon. When the maximum time reaches, the phone will be locked, which means he should put down the phone and do something else, such as read, play the toys. I also clarified which sites and apps are not allowed to access. Once he accesses, we will know. This boy listened carefully and promised all these requirements happily. Now he uses the phone quite sensibly. I'm so glad that I gave him the pleasure and freedom of using a phone. To be honest, his behavior surprised us deeply.
First of all kudos for asking and congrats. Just you being proactive means you are well on your way.
During both pregnancy and afterwards get rid of any outdated notion you may have on roles and responsibilities (women must do a the cleaning, etc).
It's a 50/50 partnership which means some days you might have to do 80% of the work but it evens out.
Also look to educate yourself on it as much as possible.
We watched the babies series on Netflix which was great.
Also listen to some podcasts or get a dad pregnancy app.
I like this one - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.preemptivetechnologies.daddyup
A lot of it is elso educating yourself on keeping your kid alive (no honey, no used car seats or cribs, no blankets when sleeping).
You got this. Good luck!
Eventually it will be second nature but it doesn't hurt to get pointers from those who went before us https://www.amazon.com/Very-Embarrassing-Book-Dad-Jokes/dp/190755453X
most people jump into the shaving part ignoring the prep. hot wet towel or showers with light soap wash, hot water , add shaving oil ( shave secret) then add a GOOD shaving cream ( if it's in a can, it's not good) then shave with your SHARP razor, ( if you left it in the shower or near water it's no longer sharp)
make sure you shaving with the grain. not against it repeat. then shave against the grain when you're face is ready. then cold water

I purchased this for my truck it’s only 127$. We initially bought a more expensive Graco for my wife’s car but When we bought mine we knew that we needed a smaller profile one for the rear seat of my truck.
After purchasing this one we realized there was no need for the 200+dollar one, they are essentially the same thing to our minds. Hers installs slightly easier and has two cup holders. Kid has to slum with one cup holder in my truck I guess.
The best thing is to help drain as much of the mucus out as possible. For this, I’d highly recommend saltwater nasal spray. You can buy it at the drugstore. I like to make it with sterile water and Himalayan sea salt because that has added minerals. I’ve used it on myself when I have a cold and it’s amazing how it really breaks everything up. This container from Amazon has a nice gentle spray that my son wouldn’t get upset about. (The drugstore one made him pretty mad.) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JZ29SQ6/
Also, holding him in a steamy shower (obviously not too hot) will help a lot with drainage. Even if he doesn’t get wet and you just hold him there with the steam and wipe his nose as stuff comes out.
Good luck. It’ll be the first of many and then you won’t be phased. 👍
They are great. Especially when your tires are fine but your TPMS light goes on, you immediately know it's the sensor and not your tires.

Everything I have been reading about pregnancy for dads has been pretty bad, all the advice is basically "no shit" stuff, or it is so outdated it talks about packing extra batteries for your beeper. But the one good book was the Expectant Father. Same guy wrote another book just for the first year of being a dad and I just bought it.
