Have you tried seeing if a fidget toy would help? I don’t pick with my fingers but I think something like this might help. I use the chewable jewelry from Stimtastic but they have other things there that might help you out. Not a promo lol but I’ve used that site for a while and they’re reliable if you’re looking for a fidget toy shop.
I went against my main rule, always check amazon before ordering, I just got excited about it.
40pc vs 20pc for the same price.
Have you tried something like these heel socks to help keep the skin moisturized? It might be worth a try. ZenToes Moisturizing Heel Socks 2... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZHKGPNN?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I use compression gloves for arthritis if I get triggered. It helps and I can blame carpal tunnel when people ask me why I’m wearing a glove. I don’t have arthritis but it does help when I just can’t stop.
Edit... here is the link to the ones I like.

I really like blister bandaids. they’re really soft and squishy and nice to touch. And you can also “pick at them” a bit and it feels like skin, and they are durable. They will stick! Of course you want to break the habit, but it helps your skin heal and pick less.

Would something like this be a potential solution?
It's not a total fix, but I started wearing these because I always pick at my skin and it got so bad to the point where I was crying, could wash dishes because of the pain or even put my hands in water for that fact.

Can really recommend painting Mavala Stop here on your fingers every few days. My problem was chewing on my little fingers and thumb. Followed a recommendation on this sub and they are looking like fingers again for the first time in my life!

I love having my nails done but I’m wayyyy too embarrassed to go to a nail salon. I haven’t been in years! I saw a YouTube video on different ways to do nails by yourself and I came across these press on nails. They’re not for everybody but they work for me. I wouldn’t recommend if you do any heavy work. These so many different colors/patterns and sizes you can get. My goal to stop picking and biting is going into a nail salon to get my nails professionally done.
Here’s a link to what I got: Press on nails
I got these finger gloves which kind of helps, but are annoying to have on if you need to text. And I only wear them at home so I don't look like a weirdo outside. My therapist recommended I try drawing/painting or getting some sort of stress ball.
Hey Ive been biting and picking at my entire fingers and the palm of my hands for a few years now and I’ve actually been using golf gloves all day every day and it’s really helped me stop the picking and helped with the healing process. The gloves are quite snug and aren’t too bulky making them ideal for every day tasks, and an added bonus is that they work flawlessly with electronics like phone screens. These are the very best for dermatophagia in my opinion. Here’s a link to them. I hope this helps:

Nesporin gel on wounds, then wrap in this adhesive tape, moisturize, use fingernail clippers, and cuticle snippets instead of picking biting. The last part takes the most discipline but it’s possible. I’m almost completely free of picking and biting. It’s been a year that I’ve been using this method of healing and I’m just now being able to freely show my hands, and paint my nails.
Since you’re at this point, can I recommend something that worked for me? I posted about this way back in January when I first got it.
I found that these mouth guards (actually meant to prevent clenching) are available in very thin materials, so they’re not intrusive, and you can speak clearly while wearing them. The one I’m linking to is expensive, but IMO totally worth it. You can wear these in public and talk to people and no one will notice it!
I started using these in January 2021, and have been able to kill my nail-biting 100%!
I'm mostly a picker, the teeth is only for my nails XD
I recently got this set of hand strengtheners which double as fidget toys .. would recommend, some nice silicon textures there if you're into that https://www.amazon.com/Strengthener-Adjustable-Resistance-Exerciser-Stretchers/dp/B07T9XFP5F
Dentists can make these but they will charge you $700!
I found this mail-in service on Amazon that does the exact same thing but for $130. They'll send you a kit with everything you need to make the mold of your upper jaw (bottom is an option, too). Once made, just send it in (pre-paid mail envelope is included). Got mine in about a week.
I have had a lot of luck putting these on when I’m hanging out at home. I’ve tried regular cotton gloves, but they don’t fit right and they don’t last very long.

i bought 4 of this trimmer one for the office, car, backback and at home.. every time i feel the urge to bite the skin off i take the trimmer and cut it away so i don'f find anythind to bite on.
This helped me to get rid of blody hurting skin stuff.
I'm a foot picker as well. Cuticle scissors are my chosen tool, although I used to use an exacto knife to try to get it smooth. I won't lie, it's always easy to relapse (my foot isn't too perfect right now). The only thing I've found that actually works for me is that silly as seen on TV pedegg thing. It's got like little blades that take off the callus and if I use it when my feet are wet, it will smooth my callus enough that there's nothing to pick at, so the temptation is gone.
I’m in the same boat. Step-son (16) called out my thumb being all damaged/bloody and that was the final straw. I’ve been trying to stop off and on over the last 6 months. This is my longest streak of not doing it and I feel like it’s at the hardest point because new skin is growing under the damaged dead skin which is making the old skin very in my face. It’s sharp, dry, catches on things and a bit of an eyesore. I’m pushing through it though, for the most part.
One of the things that’s helped my the most is if I do lapse and bite, I spit it out. I don’t want to give my brain the reward it wants. And if there’s a particular finger that is more desirable to bite I put a bandaid over it. Also use lotion at least twice a day. I use this stuff because it feels less greasy then other lotions and generally feels pretty pleasant on my hands/fingers.
It’s been 2 weeks since a major biting session. I’ve had a couple picking sessions (finger nails scraping at cuticles), but they were very short lived and only on 2 fingers (thumb, index). I stopped after that.
There’s no right way to go about this, just be diligent and try to be hyper aware of when you do it and stop yourself. One bite on accident in a day is still significantly better than giving in to a whole session. Progress is progress. The more you’re able to not do it the easier it gets though (for the most part).
I recommend the book "The Power of Habit" by Charles Duhigg. Apart from excellent ideas for building positive habits in general, he discusses strategy for addressing nail-biting specifically. Best of luck to you!
What causes you to bite ht palm instead of focus around your nails/fingertips?
I find the thicker, dryer skin around that area is prime for picking/biting.
I just finished reading The Power of Habit. When you bite are you doing it for relief of anxiety, boredom, a certain environment cue? Figure out what primes your desire and start substituting new behaviors to that cue.
