Just think, in the time it took you to write all that drivel you could have put an ad on Match.com, you spend all your time trying to recreate a better world inside your head than outside it
I was watching this German sci-fi, in English. It didn't feel authentic. The people didn't look German, except perhaps the heroines mother, who isn't an Americanized, stick insect. American sci-fi have a habit of blabbing "humans are wonderful". Dah! As did this.
The alien Entomology about to invade humans is sizzlingly noxious.
I learned a lot about how best to explain this to people. I spent three of them at Sussex University studying philosophy and cognitive science as a mature student, which obviously helped a lot.
I was a Dawkinsian scientistic materialist until the age of 33. It came as a world-shattering revelation to me that materialism was demonstrably false. I had previously "known" it was correct. What is most astonishing is the number of people who are well educated, highly intelligent and/or very proud of their rational thinking, who are totally convinced that materialism is true. In many cases it is impossible to get them to the point where they are even open to the idea that it could be falsified in principle. They "know" it is correct, even if it causes them to speak total nonsense in its defence.
I am currently reading a book which provides a detailed neuroscientific explanation of what has gone wrong. Best book I've read in a long time.
Unless like a salamander you can regenerate a lost limb. Though in Carry on Screaming they played it for laughs.

In Death Becomes Her grotesque the damage that can never be repaired. Their love interest did better!
Also in Tourchwood he "dies" yet isn't dead, but falling apart. Break a finger, no fixing it! https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b009hmmf/torchwood-series-2-11-adrift
In the beginning its novel, its fun, but as times goes on that hunger just isn't there, done it, been there, experienced it, now just doesn't cut it. That's the usual reason for stagnation.
Too long in the comfort zone, leads to apathy.
Also with immortality what happens when brain damage occurs? That can lead to aggression, paranoia, anti social behavior? Dr Michael Moseley noted in one his documentaries the guy had a spike go through his brain, outcome his personality changed, lost his job, his marriage, had no control over his anger. His life before and after...before was infinity desirable.
In adverse conditions immortality is akin to people being buried alive, because a mistaken diagnosis has pronounced they dead. Only in comparison they will ultimately not survive, painful end, yes, but at least it will be concluded.
Films have never been free - they have always served an underlying function.
Have you ever seen the Ealing comedies? The biggest downer is status quo must be maintained. Maintaining the hierarchy is stifling.

Classic films were mainly pitched at women - so had to appeal more to them. Example Kathleen Hepburn, Spencer Tracey (ironically in real life they were a couple, but he was married to someone else.) So beneath the veneer of responsibility lay mass hypocrisy! As society moved on, those movies lost their lustre. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/group/p065hg34
Those are the type of movies I imagine Di is dwelling on.
Wasn't it sad, when he let go of his Toys?
Did you know the coating used to make it non stick - wasn't actually good for the town where it was being made!

https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b08bcc18/storyville-zero-days-nuclear-cyber-sabotage "Documentary thriller about warfare in a world without rules - the world of cyberwar. It tells the story of Stuxnet, self-replicating computer malware, known as a 'worm' for its ability to burrow from computer to computer on its own. In a covert operation, the American and Israeli intelligence agencies allegedly unleashed Stuxnet to destroy a key part of an Iranian nuclear facility. Ultimately the 'worm' spread beyond its intended target.
Zero Day is the most comprehensive account to date of how a clandestine mission opened forever the Pandora's box of cyberwarfare. A cautionary"
Disillusionment - Probably. People soon see the pretence. The reason for the wars ignited are mere window dressing. The trail of devastation since 2003 hasn't done much for stability, safety. But it's profitable for the arms merchants, the politicians who hold shares in them. No to mention they're nicely protected! Unlike the masses!
Disillusionment - was the reason for the Libyan blowback. What those who helped the west anticipated and what they ended up with, no freedom, no security, only religious nut jobs, or the brainwashed foot soldiers/ cannon fodder.
Those who flog arms only have loyalty to Mammon.
