I posted this about my feelings about my 2010 Multi 1200 S Touring a few months ago, don't feel like retyping it.
I have this attached to my frame on the right side, just in front of my knee. Works great, but I don’t think it’s waterproof, FYI.

No issues so far. I got them on Amazon for $35.

So.... I picked up a set of off brand MZS levers for my 2014 1200S Monster about a month ago. I know people get hung up on brands so take this for what it is, the ones I bought are here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D3192TL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_rLSnBbM4SX0X2
It took me about an hour to install, measure twice kind of thing, I've ridden a couple hundred Spirited miles since install and I have to say I'm very impressed. When I bought my bike I test rode a few bikes with name brand levers and I wasn't nearly as impressed.
These cost me $36 to my front door on Amazon, about 170 cheaper then the name brand ones as a pair. I figured it couldn't hurt to give it a shot, it didn't disappoint.
That's because you used the wrong tip you dingus. Of course a star head is going to strip out on a hex head bolt.
Use the proper tools and you won't have a problem.

Absolutely. If I didn't have two Ducatis already I'd consider buying it. I just don't need a third especially a high mileage bike. My 851 has 11k miles on it.

It's actually made from a really soft material. I was worried about damage too but all the reviews said this wouldn't. It reminds me of the stuff they make karate mats out of. Amazon link if you're interested
u/Little_tuna turns out even your tiny lights were too big for the Ducat with R&G Tail Tidyi + 780FZ rails - the rails literally cover up the hole where the turn indicators are supposed to plug in. As a result, I ended up buying an LED strip which I pasted and zip-tied for good measure to the top case attachment plate. I had to buy adapters to convert the bare wires to the Ducati turn signal plugs.
I soldered the negative lead from the LED strip to both negative wires from the two adapters, and each positive lead from the adapters to the left and right wires, and since I had the stock brake light still there (and couldn't find a decent adapter for it), I just heat shrink tube wrapped the brake light off.
Total cost was about $20 plus shipping, and it actually works!
I’ve seen some pics of this one from Ducati. It’s not very big and it conforms to the off center dash layout of the 1100 ...so looks good on the bike in what I’ve seen of it. It’s the one I plan on getting. It’s available in a few places including Ducati’s Scrambler site.

just double check you grab the correct diameter
Gotcha thank you.
I've been using Powerlock Plus per the recomendations in one of the detailing subreddits.
But I've been considering Turtle as my next.
I'm linking the least expensive option I could find on Amazon. Home depot showed a set, but "unavailable", there are probably higher quality sockets at higher price, but for occasional use, perhaps these will do.
My Duc is much older, perhaps I was hasty in offering my ancient experience, You can hold the Allen key side and torque the 19mm side, or visa-versa. My 93 has skinny little bolts. Replaced them with more rigid titanium, and really made a difference. Glad to see that Ducati beefed up the engine mounting.
Thank you.
Looks like it's UK only, so I bought this one.
Seems equivalent.
You ever try yours with a small 3mm allen screw?
It is normal and my wife (her bike) wears one of these when on it, it keeps her leg from blistering.

lol
It works but I don't recommend it....
First off you can really only use this plug kit as the others are crap. But even then this still isn't 100%. I have it as a means to get me home but not as a fix for everything.

As you plug your tire, it will be a cold tire so the plug will work great. But as you ride the tire heats up and expands, also causing the plug to leak as now the hole got bigger. So you could be in the middle of a ride or even at a stop and your tire will be out of air.
I had to buy a brand new tire after buying a brand new tire and getting a hole in it. Sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet or just be risky.
I saw this but have never tried it, maybe an option for chain cleaning?

To clean the chain on my multi I use the Maxima Synthetic Ultimate Chain Care Kit - ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004WH1TTS/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_79ZT0XH04EYAF7SFRP68) in conjunction with the Aluminum Grunge Brush (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B1ZJAFO/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_KK81FR18VGBVV2SVMHS6).
After 15000 miles using this product on my bike I haven't had any complain so far.
I have used a bunch of different plugs. My current solution is diy custom molded earbuds. I use a cardo pack talk which has a 3.5mm jack for speakers. Not sure if your system has that option.
Search Amazon for custom earplugs and get a diy kit. Mold earbuds into plugs for a $14 custom fit. I like the earbuds that route the cable over your ear and have a wire in it to keep the bud in place.
The combo of over ear cable and custom fit plug means the buds stay put and are very comfy for all day rides. Plus the sound is far better than any speaker/ear plug combo I have ever tried.

Take the MSF course! Even if you know how to ride, learning a single thing could save your life. It's also fun, and an easy way to get your endorsement.
Congrats on the Wrangler! Don't let it suck up all your money with mods... I've managed to have restraint with mine so far, but it's always tempting to keep adding things. Would absolutely recommend getting one of these though. Cheap, and it's amazing how nice it is to have a handy spot for your phone or sunglasses.
Here's a link to those. They say they're for a Hyper but they fit several other bikes. I put them on my 2017 Monster 1200S.

Hey,

I'm pretty sure the below link is where I downloaded the service manual a few years ago. It's a package of files and the manual is actually run from a web browser. I followed the instructions and it worked fine.

according to my mechanic, its a part for the Ducati ST4. It think its the same epoxy wires pass through(maybe they improved it?) AFAIK. Still waiting on the part to see if it would work.
http://issuu.com/ducatiomaha/docs/st3_usa_06_ed_01
Here's a link to the parts catalog. It is on page 105 part# 28 which comes along with part# 27 which is an O-ring.
I tried it both ways. On one side, I just pulled the cover away enough to get to the lower bolts. On the other side, I used his method.
With the cover removed, you can use a t-handle on the forward upper bold and hit it straight on. The downside was getting the tab back into place. It's carbon but is pretty thin.
One option might be to use an appropriate sized Allen-head ratchet like this, but since I don't have one, I can't say for sure. Ideally, the barrel would have to be really small to fit in the gap.

I sit on a chair all day for work and then game after haha. As it stands, nakeds and sportier bikes are comfier as I lean forward more and I don't place as much pressure on the bone...
I got these ones for my new bike and I lane split as well on a Hypermotard, so she wide. No issues, just have them pointing in like the pics. Surprisingly good build quality for the price.
You mean the windscreen?

I usually avoid longer highway rides and prefer inner routes, I might not be the correct person to give a proper review.
Plug it, but not in the traditional ways (ropes, mushrooms, internal stickers, etc).
There are relatively new plugs that are a single piece patch/plug combo. It requires pulling the tire, reaming the puncture, then gluing and pulling the plug through from the inside. It has the benefit of a patch of never pulling out, but also plugging the whole puncture channel like a rope or mushroom. It's the only method the DOT considers permanent.
You can find it here, plenty of install videos on YouTube.

I see. On these older bikes, the basic maintenance (and even more advanced maintenance) is really quite straightforward. I'd recommend buying the Haynes manual if you don't already have it.
The more familiar you become with the bike, the easier you ll be able to diagnose issues. Joining a forum for the 916 series is also highly recommended!

Was part of the fender delete I ordered - this guy https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MQ0VAM2?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details
It wasn't a perfect fit though, could only get 2/4 of the bracket bolts in for the plate holder and actually had to remove the rear yellow fender (which I was okay with).
Looks like you removed some of your stickers and reflectors, how was that? Just a hairdryer and some fishing line?
Hmm. I could have sworn the hub was hollow even on those swing arms. My bad.

I got the CRG Arrow bar ends which is awesome, little to no vibration so you can see the objects in the mirror clearly. But if I had to get new ones, I'd choose a more affordable and rounded shaped mirror. These CGR mirrors cost around $100USD each, plus the bartend adapter which is $19 USD
Also don't forget to buy the mirror hole plugs to replace your OEM mirror's, once you remove your OEMs you can not reuse the original screws since they're too long and your reservoirs won't secure to the handle bar

I bought TechSpec tank grips from Amazon. A couple times I had to take half of it off and reapply. If you get the TechSpec one, message me and I can give you some tips as they can be a pain to get on. I own a 2019 Ducati Panigale 959.
A shoot! Right up the street! Insurance covered the tow and would only tow it to the nearest shop, so it's at Fastertwin. Fastertwin also did the Desmo service and installed said fender eliminator kit from Railside (they recommended this one to me), so I don't have too many answers for you.
I just emailed Jason (new shop owner, I didn't have the chance to meet the famed Rafael before he moved back to Italy) about the faulty rear blinker to see if they can start diagnosing from there and save me that sweet, sweet Ducati service hourly rate charge, although he was very much aware of it because I returned to the shop twice after they installed it because the blinker wouldn't work.
If they can't find an issue, I'd deffo pay you to look at it. My worst fear is an unreliable bike. Might as well have a sexy paperweight at that point.
Judge me freely, but at one time in my life, I did have a Slingshot and Coleman was the devil to work with on warranty issues, so I'd rather not deal with them if I didn't have to.

even a silent bike at 60mph, the wind noise on your helmet will damage your hearing
I can't ever imagine not using ear plugs having used them since i started riding. Anyone who does not will lose hearing as they get older. Ask any motorcycle rider over the age of 50.

bought a box of these like 3 years ago. Still going through them. Useful in other scenarios as well, such as loud rock shows.
I'm 5'7" and have a 959. In the manual, the preload for the rear shock is supposed to be 17mm. I set mine at 15mm which causes more rider sag in the rear (not a lot). Also, another thing that helped me were these wolverine boots from Amazon. The boots added an inch to an inch and a half to my height. With those two things, I'm able to touch the ground better and don't have a problem with the pegs.

I have a lot of respect for LT. I own his guide. But, you may want to consider ordering another book instead especially if you're looking for in-depth ELI5 explanations, full-color, and high-level operations such as cam timing and engine rebuilding.
Cabrera's book blows every Ducati guide for our bikes out the water. LT's guide is for low-level operations. Cabrera is for high-level. I am currently blue-printing a motor and setting up cam timing for another - guess what guide I'm using!
So there could be a sort of things. Remove the cap and release all suction and make sure the rubber is still in good condition. The master cylinder may have an issue but those things are rocks and usually last until a crash. Is the slave cylinder new or stock?
If you haven't flushed it yet then do that first. Doesn't take very long, grab a mighty vac like system and some brake fluid
It looks fine, I'd tie off the loose ends so they don't flap so much. Also, I am reluctant to transport any of my bikes without something like this:
Canyon Dancer
We used this battery tender to connect the wiring harness and had to replace the 3 amp fuse with a 15 from the fuse box note the manual where to find it.
dunno about other states but in utah ethanol-free gas (where available) is 88 octane. i use it for my drz400sm (and my snowblower lol) but the monster's engine has 13:1 compression and needs 91 octane for proper ignition. using lower octane gas will not damage your engine (ecu compensates for the knock) but your ignition will be premature and you won't generate full power.
fwiw "normal" gas is generally 10% or less ethanol (most states mandate label on the pump) so you're fine running it as long as you're not leaving the bike unridden for a while. the reason is that ethanol congeals with time and can gum up the injectors etc.
when storing the bike for winter, just put some fuel stabilizer, then top up your tank to the brim (ie no air pocket) and go for a quick around-the-block ride to make sure the stabilized fuel propagates throughout the system before you actually put the bike away.
Nope. You're going to want something to hold it securely for installation too.
I use this style of tool. It's versatile but almost requires a third hand to get the torque right on installation. The ones that bolt to the crankcase are better but are more situational.
Yeah man, just moved into a place with no garage or cover and was agonizing over how to keep my Monster from being an easy target. Found an article by a guy who used to steal bikes for a living. Said those disc locks are toys, the built in steering lock just takes a few firm kicks, and if nothing else two big dudes can just pick a bike up. He recommended the lock below, and make sure its through the FRAME (not swingarm, tire comes off quick) and anchored to something truly stuck in the ground. I've got mine on a big utility pole. Keep the outside of the cover dirty, but feel free to brush out/rinse the inside every once in awhile. If you can, find a place out of view of the main road but under lighting, or consider installing an outdoor solar powered/motion activated light (can be found for like $10-$15)

Also interesting to note, this once-thief said don't bother with GPS trackers. Apparently very few idiots steal and keep a bike. For the most part they'll find the tracker during teardown or damage the bike so badly you don't want it back anyway.
Cheers
These fit my Panigale with NO alteration.
Just plug & play, and they put out a crazy amount of light. I've had them in for a year now with zero issues. The space on my bike is even tighter than the 848, so it should be a perfect fit. Also, $25 bucks cannot be beat!
agreeing with everything /u/Alfa_Alesi said, but just my suggestion to help the situation you're currently in;
remove the tank from the bike, drain and dry the inside of the it thoroughly (im talking hot air blowing through it for about 24 hours type of dry)
clean the inside with a dry lint free or micro-fiber cloth and remove all internal components
order you up some caswell tank sealant and follow the directions on that bad boy
do your best to search for non-ethanol gas stations in your area and stick with those.
it really depends on where you are, some places in the USA have next to none in a 500 mile radius, and some places have 'em on every corner. where i live here they're really sparse, so i keep a few of the 5 gallon cans in my garage and just top off my bike every time i go for a ride.
Here's a site that helps. but if you can't find non-ethanol close by, the fuel treatment stuff is your next best choice. i haven't used any myself yet, so i can't entirely recommend a particular product for ya. i just stick with non-ethanol stations exclusively.
oh and for long term storage, (say maybe over the winter) keeping the tank completely full will help prevent that spotting, and fuel stabilizer helps the gas from going rotten.
hope this all helps
Nah it's just a standard 12V battery. You don't need a fancy tender. Anything that connects to your connector will work. And all the ones I've seen come with the pigtail so you can yank yours and install it.
I like this one because it has a few more amps for quicker charging if I'm in more of a hurry:
https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Tender-021-0128-Maintain-Damaging/dp/B00068XCQU
But any tender will do.
Haha. Only the most discerning customer deserves these earplugs sir. (rich guy laugh)
Honestly, they are pretty nice. You still hear sound normally, not that plugged up feeling you get with the orange scrunchies
I bought these ear plugs after reading good things about them in a different but very similar thread. They work very well.

Thank you! This is the pair. It took a little work getting the light to fit as its a tad small and the light wiring harness needed to be rewired but the little bit of trouble for those two items was very worth the saved cash when pricing my other options (motodemic, etc.) and I have an extra.
all of these things! i cheaped out and got the generic bestem carbon screen from amazon instead of the pikes peak edition one.

Or you can do the old school siphon with just a hose. If you've never done it before, you're going to get a mouthful of fumes + gas, though. :)
I bought this one from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015WIRU2A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_zbpQybZJ5YXE4
But unfortunately it's about a quarter inch too small diameter wise. So, I'm gonna cut a piece of plexiglass to size to fill the perimeter void, fill the housing with some expanding foam of some sort to hold it in place and put it back on. Should look pretty good l think and worst case, I go back to stock. I'd also need to cut a hole in the back of the headlight for the wiring but that's about it. I'll probably post pictures when I'm done.
If you're anal enough, you can put the 3M clear bra shit over the top of your tail fairings. A 6x60" roll will only set you back 18$. I find that no matter how protective manufacturers are of the bottom of their luggage, it's never enough.
https://www.amazon.com/Scotchgard-Clear-Paint-Protection-60-inches/dp/B004VG8DS0
I lost mine within the first month of getting my bike. Now I just opt for a cheap helmet net I got at the motorcycle store.
Cons: if someone wants to steal your helmet, it's really no hassle. Then again, if someone really wanted your helmet, a thin wire probably wouldn't stop them. My insurance against helmet theft is a cheap helmet no one wants to steal.
Pros: securely fastens helmet to bike, can throw a helmet under there while riding (couldn't do that with wire cable), can also use net for holding other stuff while riding, like groceries.
Was there 2 discs on the front and 1 was removed?
Personally, it's a rare treat to see an original, undespoilt Monster anymore. I'm guilty as charged. But if you want to massively update the look, it all depends on budget. A carbon slipon exhaust (Termi, Arrow, Competition Werks ...) , with some new mirrors and flashers from Rizoma and a fender delete will go a long way! You have to saw the frame on these old Monsters to do a fender delete, I think.
Actually I don't see them on Revzilla, now that I check, but Motorcycle Superstore has them. Also available on Amazon
I use this one for my '99 Monster. I also bought an owners manual from the dealer.
Ah I see. I have been strongly leaning toward the Motodynamic unit, but still unsure how to cleanly block off the old turn signal port (without cutting it all off).
