Not much to it. I’d say learn the difference between “hard” and “soft” enamel pins, and figure out if you have a preference. There’s no wrong answer, it’s just down to what you like.
If you wear your pins out, you might want to invest in either an ITA bag that shows them off without exposing them to being scratched, or some locking pin backs that are more secure than the rubber backs most makers use these days.
Be wary of scammers and people making pins with stolen artwork. I don’t have much experience with this but stick to sites like Etsy and watch out for deals that are too good to be true. $10 is usually the lowest price I see for quality, artist made, hard enamel pins. If you see a deal for cheaper than that, be wary.
A lot of pin makers will do limited editions. Sometimes if you really want a pin it’s better to snatch it up than to wait and wait.
Other than that just have fun. Look for pins from your favorite shows or bands, and keep checking out this sub. Remember that it’s a fun hobby and don’t worry about it too much!
"Made by Cooper" and "Night Owls Print" is recommended in this link: https://www.sketchbook.com/blog/how-to-make-enamel-pins/ but I haven't personally used them. I'm currently in the search for the most cost effective and best quality manufacturer that would suit me.
I'm from Australia so I really wanted to find local manufacturers. However, all I could find (and ended up using) were local businesses that offer the service but have them made in off-shore factories.Which turned out more costly than online businesses like made by cooper (although they also send off production to off-shore factories).
Ultimately, it will depend on your own preference for quality and budget. Definitely research and obtain quotes before proceeding to have them made :-)
Correct me if I’m wrong but I think you’re talking about the pop pin of iron man
Funko Pop Pins: Marvel Iron Man Action Figure https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0161PVB5U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_36J9PQ6HB7WFZC278R4N
It's just card stock i had lying around with glossy photo paper glued over it. Nothing special.
I think the card stock i used was magazine backing boards i got on amazon for my art prints. https://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Magazine-Size-Boards-Pack/dp/B002R45BB0/ref=sr_1_sc_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1485452324&sr=8-2-spell&keywords=magazien+backing+baords
Photo paper i think was a luster or gloss stock from Red River Paper.
Found it on Amazon
Ordered a t-shirt with that design, too
Medicos JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Part 2--Battle Tendency: Caesar Antonio Zeppelie Super Action Statue https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0055WRPVK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_o.UnDbVE359Z3
This is the Amazon listing but you can find him cheaper elsewhere. I would suggest purchasing straight from the people that made it cause they include this cute photo of the person who passed its inspection holding it and it's adorable.
I use these rigid plastic binder pages. Pricey, but they're quite durable and well designed. The main drawback is that it can be tricky to get pins with multiple posts to fit into the holes.
I have been using an off brand for years, printed thousands of labels on it and never had an issue. Very affordable.

If it's the one chained to the astronaut, I actually got it from Amazon! Whilst this isn't the specific one I have purchased in the past it has the same pin. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gejoy-Cartoon-Clothes-Backpack-Decoration/dp/B07R5LHKNH/ref=sr_1_42?crid=1DLWC1T5PIUH6&keywords=Enamel+pins&qid=1658159955&sprefix=enamel+pins%2Caps%2C93&sr=8-42
Amazon has lots of varieties. I like these because they’re good quality, a good size (9.84 x 8.5 x 1/3 inch) for grouping pins themes, and are nice and thick so you don’t have to worry about your wall underneath or about the pin falling off the board. Unfortunately, they’re currently out of stock. However, I’ve noticed that they seem to come in and out of stock periodically so you might want to add them to a wishlist or watchlist.
There are also 12 x 12 x 1/2 inch varieties out there, but I haven’t tried them. Not surprisingly, there are lots of other variations available, too.
If you're short on space, want to be able to move your collection around, or if you have NSFW pins that you want to keep private, these binder pages are great.
These styles are my favorite. Haven't lost a pin since.

>>They have locking ones on Amazon. Like these? locking backs > >Yep those are great, they also make ones with a little screw,l. As you can see it's a bit clunkier, might not great for a purse.

Yep those are great, they also make ones with a little screw it's clunkier, not great for a purse.
They have locking ones on Amazon. Like these? locking backs
Thanks! I got them here:
Rick and Morty Council Ricks Enamel Pin https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07K7WFC36/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_9HB7QGQ60M539W66M5YG
I got these from Amazon. They're pretty cheap, but there are five of them and they look nice! Make sure not to hang them like I did with the point on top, though, because the hangers aren't meant for that and they'll hang crooked.
If you want to add another pin post to it, you can get blank tie tacks like these and attach them with E6000 or jewelry glue. I've used E6000 and it's got a good hold, especially on a wide disc, but jewelry glue might be easier and safer to work with.
Do you mean it only has 1 post with a rubber clutch? You can try buying a locking clutch similar to this. Other than supergluing on more posts I’m not sure how else you could stop it from moving.
Definitely in my top 5 favorite episodes! Also: Pinsanity 'Threat Level: MIDNIGHT' Enamel Lapel Pin https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PF562QG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_KWJZK0ZSQVYEVY3X8Z5N?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Most people that "make" their own enamel pins don't make them by hand, they send the designs to a manufacturer, so they won't be able to help you. Yes, they are welded on. You night be able to get away with gluing on something like this though!
No problem!
It’s got a crappy Disney Design, but it looks like any 3-ring binder or trapper keeper will do:
You can find extra/ replacement pages here:
It is indeed attached to by the chain. I bought it from amazon as part of the set that gave me the cats from the last image, i cant find that exact one, but it is in here.

The rabbit I got off a cheap pin pack on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Z4HHT1P
The angel I got as a mystery pin from Strike Gently:
https://www.strikegently.co/collections/pins
Unfortunately it does not appear to be sold individually. If you buy 3 pins, they throw in 2 mystery pins for free.
I use these and then keep a bag with some extra and the allen wrench in my front left top pocket just in case i need to add pins on the fly they will bend your pin back if you tighten to much tho but none have fallen of yet and it been about a year
So this pin is available in a lot of places, I think it's been ripped a lot. There's a listing on Amazon here: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07JVWN7SW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_PbsdCbKX139YZ
However, it appears on Etsy, Ebay, and Wish.com as well with varying prices. If you google "Evil Kermit Meme Pin" a lot come up.
If you just want a cheap yet cute way to keep them from rubbing together I recommend going to your local Joann fabrics and looking. You can normally find a fabric like this (called tulle), for really cheap. You can cut it into little squares and tie the top off with a ribbon :) and it’s thin so you can still see the pin. It won’t protect it as much as the plastic bags however so it really comes down to preference.
I actually checked amazon and you can find it for super cheap!
Thanks! The astronaut cat came in a set from here.
They are from Amazon! Some pins take a little effort to push in because of the thick felt over the foam but I love the look of them!
Amazon actually! I’m a big fan of the classic black and white comic when they are all red and this Ralph was too badass to pass up. it’s currently unavailable but the profile zen monkey studio has a few more OG style designs like the whole crew black and white and a battle damage turtle.
Nightwatch Raphael: Comic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Collectible Pin https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QNS6YPP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_LOfcFbCHGVT9P
Yeah, it worked well for this. It's pretty thin, but with the chipboard it made a good combination. I used this one from Amazon:

I had my own scale when I lived in the US so would print my own USPS labels from their site. You get a discount doing it that way. The mailman would just pick up the packages when he delivered the mail.
Not sure how many of you remember the surfing gorilla "Thrilla Gorilla" from the 80s but we made some pins. I think they turned out great! What do you guys think? We're selling them on Amazon
