I would too. It should follow Android 10's system method!
I also just found out I can support the app! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fitnotesapp.fitnotessupporter
I left him feedback on the main app Beta page and then saw this so I bought it. Been using for years
FitNotes is only available for Android and there aren't any plans for an iOS version at this time unfortunately.
If there are other apps by the same name then they aren't affiliated in any way.
Sorry about that.
Hey u/culebrins - sorry for the delay in replying to this. I really appreciate your interest in helping out with development but there aren't any plans to open source the app at the moment unfortunately.
There are a few reasons for this but I'll just touch on a couple of the main ones:
The core app is free but there is a paid upgrade via the FitNotes Supporter app. Open-sourcing wouldn't necessarily have a negative impact on paid upgrades, but it could make things a bit trickier going forward.
Maintaining an open-source project is a big task in its own right, and an often underestimated overhead. This would be compounded as FitNotes is a 6+ year legacy project and would require a lot of work to get it to the stage where I'd be comfortable making it public and where anyone would be able to make a worthwhile contribution.
Selfishly, I don't have a ton of time to work on FitNotes so I'd prefer to put any time I do have towards coding rather than the logistical stuff that would come with open-sourcing. I am currently sitting on a few hundred unanswered support emails though so if I can find a way to optimise that part then it would free me up to spend more time on new features (the website) has been a big help in that regard, but there's still a lot of support calls that I need to deal with manually).
With that said, nothing is set in stone and if the situation does change at all in the future then I'll make sure that it's well announced.
I hope that's understandable but if you would like any more info then let me know.
You are mistaken, this subreddit corresponds to the Android only application FitNotes, it has an average rating of ~4.5/5 stars.
By App store, presumably you are referring to the unrelated IoS app of the same name? This has significantly less reviews, and a lower rating. Similarly, it's reviews appear to mention the complaints you have mentioned.
