Just came back from a short trip. I brought the whole can of formula, kept it in the room and just portioned out what I needed when we were out into the travel containers (Munchkin 80103 Powdered Formula... https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B000RFCXIK?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share). Bottles were filled and ready with water so just dump, mix, feed when we were out. There’s wipes you can buy to clean your bottles I think and microwave bags to sterilize but I brought a bin like restaurants use to clear tables, a bottle brush, tea towel and dish soap cause I didn’t know what our hotel would have and didn’t want to chance not having a microwave. It’s worked fine, I’d do it again. I also brought our own water just for babes water because we were staying at an old isolated hotel and was suspicious on the water quality.
You can make a 25 hour supply of formula (however much your baby will eat in that time frame) and keep it in the fridge. This one is great: Dr. Brown's Formula Mixing Pitcher https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001I481LM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_l-EdBbTNZRKMW.
I live in Texas and we do not have to boil water, we just use filtered tap. If the water in your area is a concern you could use bottled water.
Also see if your baby will drink the formula cold. Ours did and it was great because we didn't have to warm it.
I use the Munchkin formula dispenser, it's so convenient. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000RFCXIK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_5X40H499QWC33121930J
I don't have to worry about touching the powder on the go, just straight pour it into the bottle. It allows me to take 3 pre-measured amounts, which is plenty.
I highly recommend the Dr. Brown's formula mixing pitcher. I have it and it works great. I add water to whatever line (usually 32 oz - the max), and then add the formula and put the lid on and mix with the plunger. It doesn't clump and it reduces or eliminates bubbles. It's also nice to have formula mixed up for a day and not have to mess with it for each feeding. Best $14 I've spent. :)
Edit: I use room temperature water FWIW.
I use the Dr Browns bottles (also 6 pieces argh) and have been happy with this rack: OXO Tot Space Saving Drying Rack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079K783F9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_rXu.FbZSC6RYR
We have a fleet of 9 bottles that are constantly being rotated in/out and sterilised. So. Many. Parts.
Gosh, it sounds like you really have tried everything. I’m so sorry you’re going through this.
Maybe give Cabo Cream a try? It’s like cabbage leaves, but more effective.
And I know this goes against everything, but both times I’ve dried up, it’s because I’ve caved and pumped or hand expressed some out. Just enough to alleviate the crazy engorgement. Avoiding stimulation/warm water always made it worse. Again, totally backwards, but it did work for me!
I combo feed at about a 50/50 ratio. I feel like we have a pretty good system down so I'm going to share it.
I pump throughout the day and distribute my milk into bottles and then store them in the fridge so they're ready to add formula. You can obviously put any quantity of milk. Right now my baby is taking 60 mL breast milk and 60 mL formula. So, a 200 mL pump session preps 3 bottles with 20 mL set aside to combine with the next session.
We have an amazing appliance called Formula Ready Kettle that keeps hot water ready for us at any moment. I add the water to the bottle of breast milk, add the formula powder, and then shake and serve. It works great because the formula warms the chilled breast milk and there's no waiting to warm a bottle. I put the most recently pumped bottles behind the earlier bottles and hubby and I know to grab a bottle front to back.
We also love having the water ready because it's a great temperature to do warm compresses, which has come in handy because our baby had clogged tear ducts. The kettle is also easy to clean and there's no concern for mold to build up.
Just know that contrary to advice you may hear, you can add freshly pumped breast milk to chilled breast milk. If I can't distribute my pumped milk evenly to bottles, I'll save the remainder and add it to the next pump session bottles.
Your baby may not like these (because they definitely seem to have a sixth sense about these things), but they are a similar shape and size to the disposable bottle nipples and they're cheap so it might be worth a try.
Dr. Brown's Formula Mixing Pitcher https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001I481LM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_W9SRATREX6V9KBZPJPKB
We got one of these and pre-mix as needed. We keep it in the fridge and portion out bottles on demand. She is also fine with fridge cold formula so I don’t warm it unless I have some extra time.
Try gently swirling to mix, instead of shaking. Also, once you're done mixing, you can add a dropper full of simethicone to break down the bubbles.
In general, formula is regulated and all the major brands will be fine for your baby. However, every kid reacts a little differently to different brands and types, so this is where personal preference comes in. We found that the Costco brand gave our son gas so we had to switch to Similac (which sucked since it's double the price, but worth it for reducing his gas pains and crying). But there is nothing wrong nutritionally with Costco brand, and many kids do great on it without gas pain issues.
I would start with one of the ready-to-feed bottles (RTF) for your first time. They're very convenient, although they're more expensive than the powder. Generally we use Similac Pro-Advance powder mix as a staple (our son is exclusively on formula) and use Enfamil RTF for on-the-go situations. Your daughter is pretty small still so you can probably get good use out of the 2 oz bottles like these for example. Keep in mind that once you open the bottle, any unused formula needs to be refrigerated and used within 24 hours, or else it should be thrown out.
Pro tip: Pediatricians offices sometimes will give you RTF formula for free if you ask! Apparently the formula companies give them free samples all the time. I once was in a pinch at a doctors office visit that went wayyyy longer than we expected, asked if they had any formula, and they gave me a 6-pack when I only needed 1 bottle at the time :)
You're feeding your child and making sure they grow. Despite how some people act, formula isn't made of sawdust and corn starch, it's not going to harm your LO and will still give them what they need. If someone wants to make a fuss out of it, they're free to feed their children whatever they think is optimal. It's your child and body, not theirs. My wife and I had to make the same choice and felt the same way. I know how you feel, and I know you're doing whats right for you and your LO.
With that out of the way, we either boil a pot of water and let it cool to room temp then use that for 24 hours or buy distilled water. Yes you can boil, cool, and refrigerate the water, be sure to keep it in a very clean container if not the original pot. We're switching to tap water for fluoride purposes. Formula mixes fine with room temperature water and should be OK with cold, but you may get clumps. Formula prepared and refrigerated is good for 24 hours so you can premix it for the day/night. Our routine is to mix as needed. If you have the spare change, I hear the Brezza formula maker is good.
We have a formula dispenser ( https://www.walmart.com/ip/Parent-s-Choice-Powdered-Formula-Dispenser/20976700 ), a few empty bottles and bottled water in the diaper bag for feeding on the go. We also have commercial premade bottles and nipples as a last resort.
Once mixed, formula is good for one hour at room temperature, so it doesn't have the time frame EBM does.
If you're in the US, look into your state's WIC program. They can help you afford formula and food for your LO and you as well as help find resources for other needs.
Baby Brew is a portable bottle warmer you can find on Amazon.
Will your baby not take a room temp bottle? Because if they did, you’re allowed to bring your own water through security to make bottles.
We bought this and make a pitcher every night before bed. We make enough for about 24 hours, since that’s how long the formula is good for once mixed. It’s great because in the middle of the night we just go to the fridge and pour a bottle. There’s no bubbles like there are when you’re making bottles on the spot and shaking them. I think it’s helped cut down on gas bubbles in baby.
Dr. Brown's Formula Mixing Pitcher https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001I481LM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
My husband bought these for when we aren’t home. travel formula tubes
More than the can your wife found, but could stretch further. We pack bottles and the little 8 oz bottles of water in our diaper bag.
Get this pitcher (or a couple of them so you don't have to wash every day) once you're using a fair amount of formula. Saves you from having to mix it in bottles where it's hard to get everything to dissolve. We're combo feeding and it took us forever to figure out that there was a better way than measuring things every single time!
No worries! Do you have a formula dispenser ike this? In the early days when my boy was drinking 6-7 bottles a day, I used to carry two if we were going to be out for the day so we didn’t have to carry an entire container of formula. Just fill the empty bottles with water, and scoop out how much formula each bottle would need into each little slot. It made mixing formula on the go super fast and easy!
I do a similar thing with these! mDesign Small Plastic Kitchen... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KYWH49P?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share nipples go into a separate mug but we use a row for the bottles, a row for the tops and a row for the innards. These are narrow and fit the standard bottles perfectly.
MobileVision XL Bamboo Storage Bins for Pantry & Kitchen Cabinet Organizer Multi-Purpose 2 PC Stackable Set Larger Bins for Potatoes Onions Packaged Goods & More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08BG8W9LW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_BzuZFbNSP3XVC?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Yep. Hated them. Cleaning the straw part also sucked. I went with these from evenflo and loved them. The venting is built into the nipple. Just your standard 3 piece bottle.
Evenflo Feeding Premium Proflo Venting Balance Plus Wide Neck Baby, Newborn and Infant Bottles - Developed by Pediatric Feeding Specialists - 5 Ounce (Pack of 6) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MA5TUJH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabt1_XtCVFbNCNSW81?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I got these very inexpensive formula dispensers on Amazon - Tommee Tippee Formula Dispensers -https://www.amazon.com/Tommee-Tippee-Formula-Dispensers-6-Count/dp/B004IM8PDU
I think they are made to fit in the same branded bottle for easy transport, but I just fill them up with two scoops and transport them in a bag with my bottles and a bottle of water.
I saw a post a while back where some one said she was using ziplock possible baggies she bought on Amazon to do exactly this and it was working out really well! My thought is that abnormal snack-size bag would be difficult to pour into the bottle.
That said, I just use this when I'm on the go and it works great! https://www.amazon.com/OXO-No-Spill-Formula-Dispenser-Swivel/dp/B005XTKHF6
I saw bags at buybuy baby that would hold four or six 8-ounce bottles with all the ice packs you'd need and a compartment for snacks. I skipped them because I'd need a bigger car to carry them (though you might not, I drive a fiat, haha).
I have a generic neoprene lunch bag cooler that I can fit up to six 9-ounce bottles and 2 ice packs in for day care or longer outings. And it folds up to fit in his cubby at day care. I'd go that route - just buy a soft sided lunch bag/cooler. They come in all shapes and sizes on amazon. Here's an example
This is just another thought. We use the freebee bag we got from the hospital in our diaper bag, but if we need to bring more than 2 bottles we just bring the separate cooler.
We used these when we transitioned to the bottle and we’ve really liked them. They have a silicone pouch that’s very squeezable. Also, FWIW I think our LO liked this nipple shape better than the Como Tomo.
We have this formula dispenser. It has compartments for 3 bottles (we have 2 containers for all day adventures). It has worked really well, is a great price and is small enough to throw in the diaper bag.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B4SGBQ1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_.EILFbPDCHGW2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I used these any time we needed to pack formula. Loved them. Each section can be used completely independent of the other sections and they stacked easily together for storage.
I would have the water measured in the bottles and the formula measured out in a separate container like these. Then it is easy to just mix and use.
Any kitchen scale on amazon is fine. You can usually find them for like $10. Just make sure it measures grams, which most of them do. This one seems fine:
MUELLER Digital Kitchen Scale, 30% Greater Accuracy Quad Transducer, Multi-Function Back-Lit LCD, Stainless Steel, 11 lbs, 5 kg (Batteries Included) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075FF9PD2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_jlg2CbNR9GVWH
The preemie flow rate is very slow. I think maybe the newborn nipple (the size between preemie and level 1) might be better if your baby is full term. You can buy it on Amazon (link).
But I guess to take a step back and answer you question more directly upon re-reading it… a product like this will help so you don’t have to measure every time:
And ‘swirling’ the bottle is sort of a place between stirring and shaking that doesn’t leave too many bubbles!
If you don't need to boil for your child, don't. Distilled water is typically fine for US formulas if the child doesn't have a medical condition and was born full term.
I have a bunch of these. I fill them up at the beginning of the week for if I need to take her anywhere. I'd have a spare can of formula on you just in case. And I'd fill the bottles with distilled water and just prepare on the go. Call the airline to make sure you're allowed to take these things.
You're braver than I am trying to travel with a baby this small. I'm not going anywhere with her until she's 9 months and only needs 3 bottles a day because I just couldn't deal with this much formula on the go.
i hear you girl. When we were transitioning from BF to Formula, we immediately noticed she was more fussy, Gassy, and she’d be fighting going to sleep etc. Then my friend recommended this https://www.amazon.com/Foodgie-EUROPEAN-Based-ingredients-Gentlease-NUTRAMIGIN/dp/B09ZDCCKYK/ref=sr\_1\_1?crid=TQK4CGTIBRZL&keywords=foodgie&qid=1670099887&s=grocery&sprefix=foodie%2Cgrocery%2C100&sr=1-1
And it was a game changer!! I cannot sing the praises of this thing enough. First thing I noticed was how EASILY it mixed, then how much the baby really wanted it and the fact that he was able to keep it down. I'd def recommend this to you or anyone that has littles with these issues !

Those disks are so annoying and only for travel but they still leak. When I store bottles in the fridge or travel with them I use these screw on tops instead: https://www.amazon.com/Dr-Browns-Original-Replacement-Travel/dp/B0006BAJNG/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?crid=2HDJJ7UDHIZU0&keywords=dr+browns+travel+caps&qid=1669019703&sprefix=dr+browns+travel%2Caps%2C87&sr=8-2
When I need the bottle I just pop on the other components. I also think the screw on tops are better for bottle warmers. When I put a bottle in a bottle warmer with the vents and nipples formula will get into the vent and leak if I don’t open the bottle and drain milk from the vent.
Yee! We got this fun electric Frigidaire one for the nursery. Definitely not into going downstairs during night feeds lol.
Downstairs we have a baby brezza so during the day we just make bottles on demand from that!
Our favorite bottles have been these medela bottles, weirdly.
I don't really understand why people love the Dr. Brown's pitcher so much - can't you use any other pitcher with a long spoon to agitate it? But if you need a pitcher, get it! I also never found making each bottle right before was particularly difficult. Now we make our formula with gelmix, so we have to make it on the stove ahead of time and we just pour directly into the bottles.
I strongly recommend these Dr. Brown's pacifiers.
We do warm bottles to about room temp - because we make them ahead of time - but we just use a bowl and hot water in the bowl. I haven't liked using a bottle warmer.
We put all bottles through the dishwasher, no extra sanitizing stuff.
We have had good success with the Up and Up Gentle formula - and we've been able to consistently find it.
You can pre measure the power into dispensers instead like this one https://www.amazon.ca/Dr-Browns-Formual-Dispenser-Blue/dp/B01C0OKO54/ref=mp_s_a_1_16?crid=17377UYVPWIIL&keywords=tommee+tippee+formula+dispenser&qid=1666728912&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIzLjQxIiwicXNhIjoiMi40NiIsInFzcCI6IjEuNTkifQ%3D%3D&sprefix...
Tommee tippee has them too, I use those but can't seem to find it online. That way you can pre measure the water and pop on the already pre measured formula. No counting in the dark!
We see a speech therapist for feeding evaluation. She showed us how to thicken his formula using a gelmix
No problem! I've had so many questions myself and I realize we need FF consultants at hospitals too. I'll warn you that I'm a extra with this stuff 😂 it's hard to explain in writing but I got this kettle from Amazon which has been amazing! Hauture Kettle . For example, if I'm making 4 oz, I pour 2 oz from the kettle in the bottle, then add the powder, mix, and then I add 2 oz of already cooled down boiled water that I keep in separate sanitized containers. I guess I could just use distilled water for this last part but I haven't bought it yet. Then shake and make sure it's at a decent temperature for LO. I basically try to imitate what UK's Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep Machine does since they don't sell it in the US. This is what I'm taling about in case you're wondering Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep Machine
What helped me the most was cabo crème! I also used cabbage leaves and ice packs. Something soft like these were nice because I could move them around and keep them in my bra easily.
Day 4 or 5 was pretty uncomfortable, and I was getting sick of the smell of cabbage, but it didn’t take too long to begin to feel better.
I use a lunch box with several ice packs at night and the bottles stay cold at least 8 hours. Another option could be something like this to hold formula powder and then bringing water bottles to mix.
You might've already found the kettle you need but for anyone else who might need it to indicate temperature in Fahrenheit, we use this one and it's perfect! We follow the directions to clean it when we see "limescale" accumulated. Water Kettle
I took an antihistamine daily, and put cabbage leaves and ice packs in my bra. But the best was Cabo crème.
I did, kind of. I bought this container at walmart and will have the water ready so all i have to do is pour it into the water! It rarely spills!
Cabo crème was really helpful for me!
I’m sorry this has been so stressful for you! At a week old your still so in the thick of it that everything is so overwhelming, and bottles are hard!!! It will get better, I promise. When we first started formula I accidentally put 2 scoops instead of 1 and she puked everywhere. I felt terrible, but mistakes happen! I think your little will be okay as long as it’s not frequently mixed wrong, you know?
We make our bottles when babes eats, so just one at a time. It isn’t as convenient as making a big batch, but it’s easier to calculate how to make it for me and you don’t have to warm the bottles.
We got this water warmer that has the ability to boil water and then keep it at whatever temp you choose. We don’t boil the water first, but we started formula after our girl was a bit older than yours.
When we are on the go we use this formula holder thing. We measure how much we will need for each bottle into each section and then just use bottled water to reconstitute.
I hope you get some helpful tips in this thread that make it a little less stressful and a little more manageable for you. And don’t forget to keep an eye on your mental health. If you feel like you’re getting PPD or PPA please reach out sooner rather than later so you aren’t suffering. You deserve to enjoy your time with babes 🧡

We bought a container on Amazon and love it. Only issue is that the spoon that comes with it isn’t the right size. Fortunately, the enfamil spoon fits perfectly in the holder. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08YNVSL5N?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
There is another flow before preemie, ultra preemie flow I’m not sure if you use TikTok but a lady on there, thefeedingcompany, compares a lot of flow rates if you would like a visual.
I'm 4 months into EFF from birth and it was way easier than I thought! This is what I did:
Also, our hospital provided formula. My husband and I pre-discussed a "safe word" in case I received any pressure about breastfeeding. I'm a huge advocate for EFF!
Amazon sells multiple flow levels of a reusable nipple for the ready feed bottles, we used 2 levels of them for my son while he was choking on the fast flow from the disposable ones.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07958CY1X?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I have this formula dispenser, and bring a separate bottle of water and empty bottles. I like that it’s a little more customizable vs pre measuring your water and formula. If you need warm water, just heat it up before hand and put it in a thermos. Or they make little portable bottle warmers too.
We pack formula in a formula dispenser and bring a bottle (or two) prefilled with water.
It’s important to follow the times with formula because it can grow bacteria. Especially the younger your baby is. 2 hours after it’s mixed it will be good. 1 hour after the baby starts feeding from the bottle.
If you’re traveling the easiest thing to do is take a bottle of water and the powder separately. They make powder containers so you can pre-portion the amount of formula she needs in each bottle. I would do this rather than mix it before you leave.
Here’s a link to one of the containers I’m speaking of:
Munchkin Powdered Formula... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0062KJNWS?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I’ve found this on Amazon. It’s not advertised as a baby formula kettle, but I think that’s actually a good thing.
It seems to have a complete stainless steel bottom without any silicon. It also allows you to set the keep warm time from 8 hours default to 24.
I’ve been searching the last few hours while watching the baby and it seems to be the best one I’ve found.
You can use Gelmix to do the same thing, without adding rice. https://www.amazon.com/Gelmix-Infant-Thickener-Breast-Formula/dp/B0711YMPBB/
One of the lv 4 NICUs in our city uses this extensively. Our preemie used it for 2 months to thicken his food.
I haven't seen it in a while but you could talk to your pediatrician about using Gelmix with a regular formula! We used it for a while because had so much regular formula and ours had some reflux issues.
Is this the formula prep machine you're looking for?
If so, amazon uk does deliver to US for select items and the machine is one of them.
As for buying stage 2, unless there's change, it won't be coming to US. Stage 1 is good until 12m but if you still want stage 2 anyway, I recommend going straight to Kendamil UK site and use a mail forwarding service. If you buy in bulk, it'll most likely be cheaper anyway. It does require you to do extra steps like filling out prior notice to fda though and there's a risk of custom seizing your package (i've heard of the story) but no 3rd party sellers would've been able to help you with customs either way unless they have warehouse in US and they're selling from within US
So if you’re looking for reusable nipples that will fit, you need a VENTED nipple, because otherwise the nipple will collapse. The Similac/Enfamil nipples are vented to prevent this.
Dr. Browns or Classic Evenflo nipples, for example, will technically fit, but they will collapse from the vacuum effect.
Avima nipples are vented, as well as the original Gerber/NUK nipples which I use.
You’ll need to save the collars that come with the RTF nipples, but you can use any nipple you want.
^This is exactly how I do it. I keep the bottle in a cooler with ice packs. When I need to feed LO I heat it up using Tommee Tippee's portable bottle warmer. It only takes a few mins for it to get warm.
that JUST restocked on Amazon!
It’s a pretty penny… $98 for a 48 pack… but it’s almost always out of stock, so if you can swing it, you might want to buy now.
If you decide to get a wash bin, I love love love this one: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08NXBBSXX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
It's large enough that I was able to put bottles and pump parts all together (I pumped for the first 6 months and supplemented with formula, so LOTS of stuff to wash!) but still fit comfortably in my sink, and it has a little drain in the bottom that makes emptying it a breeze. I had another bin that you just tipped over to empty and several times I couldn't see something in the soapy water and a pump part or bottle nipple ended up in the garbage disposal or with dirty dishes. Yuck.
For cleaning, I like to keep bottles in the fridge (so that the formula doesn't spoil sitting out at room temp for hours) until I have time to wash them. We have enough bottles that I only need to wash them once or twice a day. When I'm ready to wash them, I take them all apart, rinse out any milk/formula residue and then put them in the bin with hot (as hot as the tap will go) soapy water, let them sit for a bit and then scrub with a haakaa silicone bottle brush (highly recommend this because it dries quickly and has two different brushes that make cleaning the nipple and bottle really easy) and then let them air dry on a bottle drying rack.
I stopped sterilizing anything after the 3 month mark for the most part because it was a big pain and before that, I would mostly only sterilize the bottle nipples and pacifiers once a day and then the bottles themselves only once a week if even that often.
It is available right now on Amazon. It will go quickly.

Alfa mini is on Amazon right now if that’s what you’re looking for Alfamino Infant Amino Acid Based Infant Formula with Iron, Unflavored, 14.1 Ounces (Packaging May Vary) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0144VRG7K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_863P5P273NXW3680GA7J
I just came back from a trip with my baby a week ago! My baby can drink cold so it was easy to pack 3 (3oz) bottles with an ice pack. Went through security just fine. I also packed one can of formula with me in his backpack for emergency backup. I did not pack any water since I thought if I’m in jam, just buy bottled water from the airport.
I packed a travel brush cleaner and holder that I got from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Boon-Travel-Drying-Green-White/dp/B01MDNXVU7
Amazon- but another user pointed out that it’s directly from Enfamil via the link I shared:
Enfamil NeuroPro Baby Formula, Triple Prebiotic Immune Blend with 2'FL HMO & Expert Recommended Omega-3 DHA, Inspired by Breast Milk, Non-GMO, Reusable Tub, 20.7 Oz (Packaging May Vary) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077M4Q27K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_FMQ5SA565V4GYSGXNEPR?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
The only thing I can see is “packaging may vary” but no, it doesn’t state that it’s sold by Amazon. Here’s the link:
Enfamil NeuroPro Baby Formula, Triple Prebiotic Immune Blend with 2'FL HMO & Expert Recommended Omega-3 DHA, Inspired by Breast Milk, Non-GMO, Reusable Tub, 20.7 Oz (Packaging May Vary) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077M4Q27K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_M7CH9RQK6T64G01624F2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I second the travel bottle cleaner contraptions and 2 to 3 bottles. For a day trip I put formula into a tupperware container in the diaper bag...what he would normally take plus enough for one extra bottle just in case. Then I throw 1 to 2 water bottles in the bag too. Overnighr, I pack the can and a jug of water or use whatever water source is there as long as its legit.
We used this which I liked because it has a little soap Dispenser and nipple cleaner, drying rack, and packs away easily. The other posted look nice too. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B097TSWMDG/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_3QH0EA16SB2YDA2T9TMD
Haven’t tried these myself, but these might be closer to what you’re looking for? Might need to purchase some liners additionally as well.

We’ve been lucky in our area with having Alimentum RTF available but when it hasn’t been, I’ve been able to order it on Amazon!

Is this what you’re looking for? Amazon just got restocked on a few different kinds of formula

(This is not the regular out of stock for Amazon but instead the out of stock but getting soon usually message). Might be worth a try.
How long’s a bit away? If it’s within 12 hours, you can get those ice packs and freeze them and put everything into a cooler bag. To warm up, you can either ask the restaurant for a bowl of hot water or you can get something like this. It worked pretty well for us until the 10 hour mark (water was more lukewarm than hot). You could stop by a restaurant somewhere and ask for hot water if you need it to last longer.
I haven’t actually used it yet but I just got an electric kettle on Amazon for my second baby due in July. You can set it to a specific temp and it holds all night. I plan to keep it on my nightstand or dresser and use distilled water to avoid buildup. And I suppose just pre-measure the powder into the bottles and pour the water when needed. I used a bottle warmer with my first but it was not really a big deal because I could just breastfeed her while waiting for my husband to bring the bottle to top up after. Still planning to combo feed but May not BF all through the night like last time. So I think it will be useful!

This is the other wide neck nipple style I meant: Dr. Brown's Natural Flow Wide-Neck Anti-Colic Baby Bottles - 8oz - 3pk https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001LENCUE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_R6GHHXHKP02ZFC6XJYWA
Damn we have like 12 of these Options+ wide neck bottles. It’d be so annoying to have to replace them all.
We use this: Dr. Brown's Formula Mixing Pitcher
It's been amazing for prepping formula ahead of time. Our formula lasts 24 hours. This pitcher has had no problems with handling boiling water even though it's plastic and it mixes it super well.
Hi! I ended up buying these ones from Amazon and they work amazing. They even match four of my bottles (but your mileage may vary there lol -- I have them on dark green, light blue, oatmeal, and coral)
Our pediatrician recommended this particular one: Carlson - Baby's Super Daily D3, Baby Vitamin D Drops, 400 IU (10 mcg) per Drop, 1-Year Supply, Vegetarian, Liquid Vitamin D Drops for Infants and Toddlers, Unflavored, 365 Drops https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006J23VO0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_6A31KV0B0JSK0M17FMRX?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
We eventually transition to the Munchkin Weighted Straw Cup, but it took us forever and the results left something to be desired. It took forever to baby transfer over and finally I just went cold turkey over a couple of days at 14 months. Baby’s milk consumption cut in half and it took a while for solids to catch up (4 days or so). Now we’re good, baby is drinking roughly 16-20 ounces of milk with lots of solids. The cups are good, baby had no issues figuring out how to use them and for the most part they don’t leak. One kind of funny thing is that sometimes the straw flips around and you get milk all over your face. Other than that, I’d recommend them!
The ambient temp ones don't work where we live in summer (too hot).
We portion out formula in a dispenser like this and either have preboiled water in a thermos or already measured into the bottles.
Our kid will drink formula at any temp so we don’t worry too much about warming it. Might be worth experimenting to see what temps yours will accept - if they don’t need it warm you can just use any bottled water or even tap water if it’s safe to drink.
We have this one: Mini Fridge, Potiry 6 Liter AC/DC Portable Thermoelectric Cooler and Warmer Mini Fridge for Bedroom Car Home Travel Mini Refrigerator for Skin Care Foods Medications https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0934YSY7C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_2E1HWY8DCNNAFKKB4PRD?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
It’s been a godsend for night feeds. I was terrified of holding the baby to walk downstairs at night. Anyway, this fridge is small (extra mini, not like a dorm fridge) and fits 4 full-size Dr. Brown’s bottles. Keeps ‘em cold and ready to go! Best purchase we made for the nursery, by far!
We’ve used these forever and are bringing them with us on our first flight on Thursday:
Accmor Baby Milk Powder Formula Dispenser, Non-Spill Smart Stackable Baby Feeding Travel Storage Container, BPA Free, 4 Compartments, 2 Pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079HQBTH1/
I think they’ll work well! Not technically spill-proof but we usually don’t make a mess with them.
I bought an electric kettle to heat and maintain water at a specific temp. We use a formula that has probiotics so the water can’t be too hot. The instructions state 100 F to mix it. So, every morning I fill the kettle and bring it to boil and then it drops back down to my set temp of 100 F. This takes a few hours but my routine is to make the batch of formula mid-morning anyway. Water holds for 24-hours. Here is what I bought. There are so many similar options on Amazon!
Another thing that has been such a life saver is buying a mini fridge/cosmetic fridge for the nursery. My baby doesn’t mind cold formula so this is so handy to grab a bottle at 3 am and feed him. Here is what I purchased and so far it works just fine. It keeps temperature 20 C below room temp so with my house at 68 the formula is well within safe temp.
Yes!! This route is super fast and easy for formula mixing, plus you can use the kettle for tea or pour over coffee! We have a Fellow Corvo we got for coffee, which is pricey, but there are plenty of other options for temperature controlled fast heating kettles that are less expensive. We set it to 120ish for mixing formula, it's usually at temperature by the time we've measured formula into the bottle. Great for getting the bottle to a cranky baby in less than a minute!

Not a parent but considering going a different route with a kettle that boils but then keeps the water at a constant temp for 24 hours. No plastic in the kettle but still the ease of having it heated. Example
I would keep feeding him what you’re feeding him, you’ll know if he wants more and he will let you know when he’s done. I know how you feel, I quit breastfeeding a few weeks ago (I didn’t go as long as you did) but it’s so hard to know how much is the right amount. But from what I’ve read you can’t overfeed him, he will stop eating or spit up it he’s too full. And here’s a link to some travel containers for formula that you can pack instead of the big container
Munchkin Formula Dispenser, Blue, 2 Pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08NNQS2VL/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_api_i_AEYEMQVB9V9G40GAVTZX
Accmor Baby Milk Powder Formula Dispenser, Non-Spill Smart Stackable Baby Feeding Travel Storage Container, BPA Free, 5 Compartments, 2 Pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BFP2B3R/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_9J0QYGZ5PJNQKH0G1TKG
Munchkin Formula Dispenser, Blue https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LXN2PCP/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_GHP4CBWF4Y9MPYFXWA2F
I have each of these, my husband prefers the stacking tower one, but I like the little 3 compartment one. I just go ahead and put 2 scoops of formula in each section, so its ready to add to 4 oz of water. I also take my bottles with the water already in them.
Are you tracking how many ounces in total he is getting per day? My goal has always been atleast 24 ounces. But my daughter is small for her age, hanging around the 10% on the growth chart. Our Pediatrician did have us giving her a high concentration of formula so it would have more calories at first, but now we just follow the regular directions. So that might be something you could ask his doctor about if you are afraid he isn't drinking enough.
Hello! I'd recommend reaching out to your pediatrician, but in general I'd offer on the same schedule you did for breastfeeding and let him eat what he wants. Babies are very different in amounts.
For going out,, we sometimes use ready to feed because it's easy. Otherwise we premake bottles and have a little cooler bag. We also have a travel formula dispenser we've used. I've included links below for the bottle bag and formula dispenser we use.

Thanks for the details! Is it this one? Not sure cuz it doesn’t mention hydrolyzed
Gerber Good Start Baby Formula Powder, GentlePro Probiotics, Stage 1, 20 Ounce (Pack of 6) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07N4LL847/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_89GDAB5NPQJMEKTEWTZK?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
yes Bobbie’s smell isn’t too bad at all! i saw someone on reddit say their husband wants to sprinkle it on his food… that’s a bit of a stretch for me lol but i’ve tried many formulas and it’s the only one that smells neutral other than Similac Pure Bliss, which is the only other formula my 6m doesn’t refuse.
so i was going to go with this one but i just realized it doesn’t advertise constipation relief like many probiotics do so i might need to read reviews to see if anyone says it still helps with that. i’ve also been recommended love bug probiotics, this one is 6-12 months but they make a 0-6 months as well. we have been on biogaia probiotics since he was a newborn which i feel really helped with colic-y symptoms but he’s out of that phase now and i don’t feel like it’s making much of a difference at this point.
