So my issue with the reduced witnessing had to do with the pig tail connection on the back. Though this unit was new, I could tell that I could not screw on the antenna as much/as far as on my second FreedomFi unit. There appeared to be a machining issue on the connector threads. I purchased a 2.1 splitter for my Bobcat miner. When I got a FreedomFi I tried out the splitter hoping it was the same. the 2.1 did not fit and was not about to force on the singe pin slot. Gave up after a reasonable level of force.

Yes, I'm also using that recommended splitter, which's working just fine. You don't have to cut/solder anything, FF gateway uses a self constricting power input socket for that solid fit, suitable for reliability. If you have hard time pushing it it, try rotating while pushing it, which'll make it easier. FF twitter has a setup guide file for PoE setup, follow that guide and you'll be fine.

Where are you mounting the antenna?
I have one unit that has to stay indoors and unobtrusive on a window sill, and have been impressed by the difference this antenna made for less than $12.
