Well you definitely want to avoid sliding on your knees, but buy some padded goalie pants. They wont stop everything, but they help alot.
Goalkeeper to goalkeeper sorry that happened hopefully you'll be back to your prime in no time.

I don’t own these, just did a search on amazon for “orange compression pants”
In my previous videos you can see that I attended the German International Soccer combine. I impressed the agent and owner of the academy with my goalkeeping and he extended the opportunity to go to his academy for about 4 months. Yes there are expenses, I paid for my ticket and I am paying a certain amount for my accommodations while staying in Germany but it's nothing compared to the prices of some of the other academies.
Ruediger Schult (who is the coach and agent) played in the Bundesliga and has a lot of connections with all level teams in Europe. His first month is all conditioning and training with local professional teams. After that he will send me and the 5 other academy players to trial around Europe. Last year he had 18 out of 20 players sign a professional contract! Hopefully I get to take that step soon
I have about 8 pairs of gloves not including the few that have been sent to Germany, I put up a picture of them on my instagram
I also prefer to wear wear tights, but to prevent turf burn on my knees I wear a baseball/softball knee slider like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000EAS4TA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glc_fabc_ANM2YB6JBKCNHQ3PGH86
Yeah, I actually just made a post about this a few weeks ago. Was just about to paste the link here and noticed you commented in it. I really like storelli pads. The sells silhouette look nice, too bad they don't seem to sell them anymore. Here's the amazon link storelli goalkeeper pads
I opted for these with a short sleeve kit. Gives me the option to wear or not wear based on pitch conditions. Also, if for some reason I end up in the field I can just pull them off and I'm not committed to long sleeves. So far they've held up well. I've had them for about a year now and they're still in great shape. I think I'm actually going to get a long sleeve compression with padding in the elbows for indoor though. I wear them every game on AG, so might as well.
When he is training in a short sleeve shirt, my son will just slip on some compression sleeves like these. That way he gets protection but it is cooler than an undershirt.

These?
I always wear short sleeves on good grass, otherwise I always wear long sleeves. On good turf I don't find that pads matter, but on bad turf or bad grass I always wear elbow pads under my long sleeve jersey. I swear by these and they're slim enough to fit under your jersey while giving you normal range of motion:
This might not help directly with this problem, but take a listen to Dr. Jacques Dallaire in this podcast. He's a performance psychologist who works with pro athletes, high-level business executives, surgeons, and other high-performance professionals.

What exactly do you want to get out of your gloves? I spend $30 on a pair of these every season and they're great.
They look cool, but i don't see what kind of latex they're using. For me that's a big issue. I really don't like contact latex.
Another strange thing I see with these gloves is that only the middle finger has a seam, and the thumb has a weird cut out in the latex that will probably be an area that will tear first.
If you don't want to go with West Coast.. I recently found this company in Canada that just started this year. Their customer service is great, they told me they're about to come out with a new line in the next week or two. EDGE Goalkeeping
I've bought 1 pair of their gloves and they were pretty good, especially for $30. The finger support was a little too flexible, but you could always swap it out for something else.
I bought these as a budget fingersave alternative for training but I absolutely love them, spines are good, palm is well padded and the grip has been excellent in both wet and dry conditions. Have been using them in games and think they are excellent especially for the price. I got an 11 and they are tight so I would advise going a size up if you can.

As an alternative I used baseball/softball sliders (easier for me to get a hold of in the states): https://www.amazon.com/Mizuno-370108-Slider-Kneepad-Purple/dp/B000EAQ0NC/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=mizuno%2Bslider&qid=1630083286&sr=8-3&th=1&psc=1
I don't wear them unless the league requires them, but I've got these. Just tape them on and go.
Should've said so earlier lol. No matter, let me see. If you can spend a little more, maybe 10-15$, I'd suggest the Renegade GK, the Fury line, they cost 60$USD, and pretty decent brand. Or better yet the Rogue lines, for 67$USD
Well I just buy cheap leggings on amazon and replace them as needed, can usually get them for ~10 bucks and they last a few months.
As others have recommended, Storelli is a great brand. I wear the storelli keeper jersey and shorts with the cheap leggings underneath to protect the skin. Storelli is expensive but the products are very durable in my experience.
these are the leggings I buy.
Hand-eye coordination and agility are your secret weapons. Hone those skills and you'll play like you're 6'5".
Get an agility training ball . Stand at the bottom of a staircase with walls(not too wide). Throw the ball up to the top and let it hit the stairs/walls before you catch it at the bottom. Work on two hands to start then progress to only using one hand. Focus on the ball and try to make a clean grab each time. Alternatively, you can use a super ball like they sell in vending machines. After it hits a wall/stair, the energy increases and spin direction changes. Very fun and inexpensive way to hone Hand-eye coordination by yourself.
Dude, I say go for it. I grew up playing basketball and just started playing indoor rec footy last year at 30. After playing at the back a couple seasons I switched to keeper. During some pickup games I gave it a try and the team captain said I should give it a go during regular season games. So you're already ahead of me on having played the game longer. Some games are pretty rough, lol, but I take it one clearance, one save, one distribution at a time. Every moment is a learning opportunity that you can build off of. You'll need a good mixture of humility, confidence, and self-forgiveness. If applicable, I suggest wearing a cup. It might only be needed once or twice a season, but you'll be thankful. Also, I've found these (link below) to help my knees from getting scraped up since I play on astroturf. I'll echo someone else's comments on watching video tutorials, I've found those to be helpful. Best of luck to ya!

I wear specs while playing and the only concern for me is them falling off, but I was able to find something similar to this in order to keep them on. I've personally never liked contacts and this has been a great cheap solution
Try your best to breath watch some videos about controlling that anxiety and to keep that stable and calm mind https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00592846Q?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
And just think about how awesome you'll look making those saves Good luck!
I'm unsure of the best place to get them sorry, The facilities i coach at has some available already.
You could try amazon (Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Polar-Aurora-Gymnastics-Exercise-Stretching/dp/B00KB4JRQ8), or you can reach out to schools if they have a Gym, they most likely will have catalogues they order equipment from and they might be happy to give you a look through.
These badboys are well worth it. this is the second pair I order.
Same here bro. I bought a brace, and that helped me keep my shoulder (and mind) in place. It gives me a sense of security wearing this to my games. Best of luck!
Good Brace that I use:

You'll get turf burns no matter what. I'd still take the turf over some of the grass fields in my area.
I wear these. They're cheap, and not too restrictive. I get the occasional burn, but nothing super painful. I go through a pair every season.
Besides those, either a 3/4 pant if you want a pant/short hybrid, or just full-on GK pants. Storelli makes good stuff, but expensive.
For what I can recommend. Try this brand from Amazon
This is a good goalkeeper gloves for those who's on budget because it features finger protection as well as being super comfy throughout the match!
Another plus is the glove is quite durable and the stickiness lasts a good amount of time!
I have mcDavid hex pad forearm pads and knee pads. The forearm pads are a little too restrictive but work great.
I think a big reason to get "quality" gloves is to keep your fingers safe. Since it's recreational, it's really not worth risking an injury.
I've been using Reusch for over 10 years now to play on a recreational indoor league once or twice a week. I always get the "Duo" with Ortho-tec that might be on sale. If you get the the previous generation gloves they are usually $100-$125. I get the Duo because they last longer.
I think I might buy a pair. Which pair is your favorite and/or which would go with this jersey: http://www.amazon.com/Vizari-Arroyo-Goalkeeper-Jersey-Green/dp/B00P4PZC40?ie=UTF8&keywords=vizari&qid=1461968987&ref_=sr_1_13&sr=8-13
I hear you about the turf burn. I got the Adidas Tierros for that reason about a couple of months ago. They are very breathable and the padding isn't thick (which I like).
The fit and construction are both pretty good. They tend to run large, so see if you can try them on first if considering these.
It's the gopro hero model. I put a 32 gb micro sd card in there and it gives me about 4 hours of record time. The battery last pretty long so far. Can record 2 games (40 min games) on a full charge and barely use half of it charge.
I primarily play indoor and to save my knees from the turf, I use asics gel knee pads. I make a small incision on the inside of the sleeve (at the bottom of the pocket) and pull out the gel insert so they aren't so thick and make sliding easier but with a little bit of padding that the sleeve offers. I usually tape the bottom with mueller cloth tape to keep them from sliding down on slides and electrical tape at the top to keep the rubber bits from the turf out while playing. I play year round averaging about 2 games a week and they are still holding up after 4 years.
I bought a pair of padded GK pants. 10/10 would recommend
I bought this a couple months ago and it works really well. a little smaller but it spits the ball back at you just fine. I use it to warm up by myself before games.
