Get a stand alone tent, it's better than sleeping in your car. You will have to remove any hatch type tent everytime you want to drive any place. Also sleeping your vehicle the condinsation sucks unless you leave a window open but then you have bug issues.
If your really stuck on sleeping in your vehicle, Google image search and I found this tent on Amazon it appears to have a golf in some of the images for the product.
https://www.amazon.com/Napier-Outdoors-Sportz-86000-Person/dp/B00C37NW8K
Could also buy a large family tent, lots have connectors now that allow two tents to be hooked up, most likely should be able to be used around the hatch.
Better yet if you have the money rent a motorhome :) you will be the baller at the campsite.
The battery question, turn off what lights you can in settings, however I would recommend testing before you go. I haven't had experience leaving my hatch open.
It's the cable. The high end Anker cables are the only ones that fix it for most people. Look for Anker Powerline cables.
I got one of these — it plugs into the standard USB port and then bridges to your phone wirelessly. Just make sure you get the one that matches your car's model year.
It isn't perfect, but it works well enough, especially since most of the time that I drive is for ~15 minutes or less.
>hat!! That’s genius hahaha. I gotta know more. Just hardware store stuff?
you can google Mfg Part # MS100124 which is apr catch can kit. It has a valve.

These are the ones I've had for 2 years. Basically knockoffs of S2T but they are metal and good quality.
Absolutely. Here is the link to the one i bought!

Might seem to boring but my first thought was something like some audi models have. Just some black lug nut covers like these random ones on amazon
I have a REMUS axle-back with an ECS midpipe. The tip prices aren't an error, they're just dumbly priced. If looking stock is important to you the chrome angled tips ( 0046 70SG ) are the ones to get.
These tips are also just clamped onto the tail pipes, so you don't even have to stay with REMUS if you really want to save money. Clamp anything tight enough and them's your new tips!
Word of warning, I'm on a stage 2 tune with non-resonated midpipe + REMUS axle-back. It sounds mean, but I'll probably put in the Vibrant 17950 in to eliminate some of the harsh vibrations. At 3-4K it vibrates my cabin quite loudly. There's an obvious drone, but it's not any worse than how it normally drives at 70-80mph with the resonator on to me.
You can still get the old version on amazon. It only works with android though. There is also the pro version for $80. It is the most useful tool you can have though. I use my friends cause I use apple phones but will be picking up the new version after they get in stock.
We use this one in both of our cars.
Decent price and quality. I'm sure there's better out there but it works fine.
I have my keys attached to my jeans with a carabiner. That way they’re not in my pocket but still attached to me. Maybe that could work for you too? Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/FresKaro-Certified-Carabiner-Carabiners-Rappelling/dp/B0854D7ML8
lol um pretty sure I wear normal pants, not too tight, not too loose 🤠
https://www.amazon.com/Volcom-Frickin-Modern-Stretch-Chino/dp/B0B31BJVMX/
Me and my mum have had one of these for a few years now. The quality is damn good for the price and we’ve had no trouble in the 3 years they’ve been installed.
Carscanner does a good job too https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ovz.carscanner Can't check right now but I think can deal with both OBD2 readings and GPS from phone for acceleration tests
I had a buddy recommend those, seems like there is an all season version of them, or am not understanding correctly? I saw these on Amazon, MICHELIN Pilot Sport All Season 4 Performance Tire 235/35ZR19/XL 91Y
You can get them off Amazon. Lots of options.
My brand is Yiger. It’s this one, but with black housing. They are a few years old now, but work like champs.
These ones are rated well (aluminum/type housing). You can get more led’s in the same sized housing (compared to mine). Regardless, love mine.
Great deal on a liter of Reload on Amazon.ca.
71 bucks.

FYI I was just looking at car cleaning stuff and found this. It’s like a temporary(1-2 month from what I can tell on reviews) ceramic coating. Im going to try it out.

I have done several now, it gets a bit easier each time. I used air-tint from VVIVID. There are videos showing how to heat it and stretch it. I ended up stretching it and then removing the light to wrap it around the edges. It gives it a nice finished look. Grab a set of felt covered squeegees and a sharp knife set off Amazon while your there, You need a heat gun as well. VViViD Air-Tint Smoke Black Gloss Vinyl Headlight Foglight Transparent Tint Wrap Self-Adhesive (16 Inch x 48 Inch, 2-roll Pack) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M1KRMQZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_AC37XSKHQERRKD1D8R4S?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I personally wouldn't spend over $100 for this. I got mine off Amazon with next day shipping. It's been almost 2 years and they still work fine.
I bought a long triple square socket (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XC1D8B4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_8EJEKT5H0XM17N51S4EY?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) to get to the bolt that held the bracket to the block. I think I got the throttle body bolts out with a lot of extensions from the bottom. I found the best way to make stuff easier with this car is to not be shy taking off other parts that are in the way. The radiator fans are 4 torx screws and an electrical plug and make a surprising amount of room.
You definitely should, it really gives the center console a more refined look. Below is the exact unit I ordered from Amazon, took a while to come in, but I didn’t mind. The price compared to other places was an absolute steal.
As for the branding, I was surprised that this was OEM, on the backside it had the VW stamp and everything. The plastic slide cover looked kind of hazy(?) when it came in, but after applying some shoe polish it looked much better.
I recommend getting some plastic pry tools and screwdrivers/wrenches that can be used in tight areas.
OP, I bought these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DQHNBJX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They fit, but the pieces are a little loose once in. I thought to put some thread seal and wrap it around the sliding pins, but it's been a year since I've put these on now lol

Looks like this might be it. Wondering how well they’ll hold in the seasons with adhesive. I think OP might be in Alberta, though and their winters are more aggressive than here in MI so it might be ok.

Best practice is every 6 or 12 months, hand wash and rinse then apply an iron and tar decontamination solution to the whole car to remove all the top layer grit that builds up over time, then wash, rinse, dry and apply a reload solution to fortify the coating. GTechniq requires the maintenance to be completed on an annual basis to maintain the warranty. Let me know if you need more details or product info
I really like my 3D Maxpider's from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SGGSL2Y
Perfect tight/clean fit in the MK7 R and stands up to all weather.
I’m also in SoCal and ordered one off of Amazon. I’m washing my car tomorrow for the first time and going to try out the cover. According to reviewers on amazon it’s a perfect fit for a Golf so I’ll let you know. I’ve had covers for various cars over the years, this is what I ordered.

Thule also makes a conversion kit if you want to drill out the old mounts. Lets you mount the thule rack in the t-channel for a cleaner look. Only downside is that the rack is slightly lower to the roof which, in my case, means I can't put my snowboard up binding side down or it rubs the roof. Note, I had to use a few spacers as well as the adapter to make it work.
Link to Amazon - Thule Xadapt 12
Alternatively, I originally mounted the racks by picking up some longer bolts at the local hardware store.
They're not very aesthetic but if you gotta street park they're essential. Here's front bumper and rear bumper
That stuff isn't that great on modern auto leather due to most of it being coated in plastic, including VW IIRC. I was recommended this stuff https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002Z2MZE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_6bzmFb23W9F3A
Get the hardwiring kit for it if you want the parking mode. The camera itself is tiny, I have it in my Genesis Coupe and just ordered another to put in the back. It is only 1080 though.
Amazon has one for a Golf that I’ve been happy with. In the past I’ve had everything from regular cotton to the expensive five layer covers. This one is somewhere in between. Fit is good but may be a little tight if you have a giant front splitter or rear wing.

You can buy a screen protector on Amazon, it is a lot easier to clean plus it doesn't show finger prints as much.
I also have a microfiber handy at all times. 👍

Wireless carplay adaptor from Amazon works.
Carlinkit 2.0 carplay dongle... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T8NQJX1?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Easy setup, instruction sheet has a qr code to do software updates, which is nice.
This is the one I used, but there are like, ten other almost identical entries on Amazon that seem to be the exact same product, and I'd assume they're interchangeable.

I'm not sure about the others, but this one did include an alcohol cleaning wipe, a lint-free cloth, a set of stickers to remove dust, and a suction cup to hold onto the protector when installing it. They were all very useful things to have. I'd recommend some nitrile gloves, a flashlight, and taking a LOT of time to do it right.
Wow, should have done this from the beginning! Ever considered something like this? DoorShox
I know its crazy more expensive than your noodle protection, but you can use them over and over thru your next vehicles
Clutch and pressure plate from FCP Euro.. https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/audi-vw-clutch-kit-sachs-performance-529542

Merry Christmas
Thank you. I also had a difficult time to find what I was looking for. This is also cheap plastic, but I just wanted to change it out. Although the result doesn't look bad, I still need to get rid of the chrome pieces.
Yup, it sucks. The sound started after the 2nd-3rd time I washed it really well and been happening since. I picked up some Gummi Pflege Stift Rubber Care Stick - 3.4 fl. oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004B8GTQG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_d.AwBb7CA0884 upon recommendation from other users in the GTI sub.
