I wrote a negative review about the Squegg a while back. The plot thickens. Today I found out the Squegg is just a rebrand of an exisiting product called OriOri Ball.
To add insult to injury, a lot of the missing features I complained about for the Squegg app... They're available in the OriOri app! (I was able to connect my Squegg to it.)
Besides all that... I do use my Squegg daily. Not really for grip training per se but as a fatigue indicator. I'm not really sure if the science behind that checks out but I did have positive results with it over the course of the last two weeks.
Rock climber here- we use a hang board to increase finger strength which can greatly improve the types of grips you're aiming for. They're very cheap on Amazon and there are apps to time your hangs.
Do a bit of research because hanging with poor form can cause injury.

They're not knock off mate, look at the pic close up and you'll see the captain's logo stamped on. You're right though I got them from Amazon here;
IronMind - Captains of Crush hand grippers (CoC Trainer c. 100 lb 45kg) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00938L9PA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_5DJgDbS1QBC1T
Ok. You can get one or two of these, and use the fat gripz with them to lift your sandbag, or on a pull-up bar. Our founder did all his fat bar work like this for quite a while, and liked it.
The rest of that gear sounds good.
Supination, pronation, and both deviations are exactly what a sledgehammer is best at.
Depends what you mean by "expensive." In the grand scheme of things, $25 for a gripper isn't bad compared to say a squat rack or a barbell. However for the price of 30 grippers you could be on your way to a home gym.
Heavy Grips are cheaper at around $10 per gripper, but the knurling isn't as good, they have a narrow spread, and some people just generally don't like them. However they can be a great training tool, and I highly recommend the 100/150/200 set as a way to get going if you otherwise don't know anything about grip or grippers. These grippers in particular can vary a lot though, so it's never a bad idea to have them rated.
Grip Genie is slightly cheaper than Captains of Crush, but still more expensive than the Heavy Grips. Some people don't like the slightly thinner handles of the Grip Genie grippers, but I think the knurling is just right and they feel good in your hand.
Hey, I've read your post but I've yet to try anything except 'pinching'. Constant rain ( I use a pullup bar on a park) and new years have delayed my workout. Nevertheless, I can certainly "feel" my forearms when doing door pinching but it seemed way too easy so I tried the two handed pinch block ( I presumed you meant something like this https://web.archive.org/web/20121110211104/http://www.gripfaq.com/Thumb_Strength_Exercises/Two-Hand-Pinch/ but way less weight) and it's certainly the exercise to go for the moment. I should have a full answer by tomorrow and the wrist roller ready as well. The exercises seem awesome and I really wanna see how well I can do on the Adamantium ones, although I'll probably be disappointed.
Anyway, sorry to keep you waiting, and enjoy your new year's eve.
Complete and total novice question here: do those finger grip trainers I see advertised for free on Instagram, are those actually effective, and if they are, how so?
I linked ones I found on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/Stretcher%EF%BC%8C-Resistance-Elastic%EF%BC%8CFinger-Rehabilitation-Relaxation/dp/B07Z8N7JDR/ref=asc_df_B07Z8N7JDR/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=385266201581&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=164885541195154694...
Hello everyone, kinda new in grip world, bought this gripper some months ago https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B07Y2BFZYG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
(200 lbs), which i couldn't beat until some days ago, when i started feeling stronger and beating it for even more than one rep. Tho i see everywhere (youtube, this subreddit ecc) about CoC grippers being the best. Wanted to know why are they considered the best, and the potential differences (if there is any) from other ones, for example the one i bought, because i kinda want to improve my grip further, and before buying the 250 lbs one from the above version, i want to know if it is worth it or if i should go for CoC, which on Amazon stops at 120 lbs (?) which i guess should be super easy for me, seeing the result with the above gripper. Thanks for any answer and tip!
All of the things votearrows mentioned are great, and he touched on all of the things he discussed being alternatives for when you can't train on climbing holds, but I just want to emphasize that nothing will be better for practicing rock climbing/rope climbing than actually getting on a climbing wall/rope. Set up a rope off of a tree or do towel hangs for rope climbs, and try your best to make it to a climbing gym if possible. Pinch blocks build similar strengths to rock climbing, but teach bad habits like over-squeezing holds. Hangboards are a bit better for training, but can be very pricy, so DIY with wood can be very beneficial.
With that said, votearrows advice is great, and I just wanted to chime in! Best of luck!
I would say some Fat Gripz, they are $40 on Amazon and if you have Prime you get free shipping. They are a good start for most people, pretty much you put them on dumbbells and the added thickness to hand handles make them much harder to hold when your working out, they are also small and light and easy to take with you if you go to a gym.
I am really liking my Baraban Adjustable. I got mine on eBay. Here is a link to one on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Robert-Baraban-Adjustable-Gripper-Resistance/dp/B008FR2W7Y I would not recommend using it every day if you are using higher levels, but on lower levels for reps, I use it just about every day. Just pay attention for the warning signs of over training!
I bought the Vatiz adjustable gripper a couple months ago and have been enjoying it. Making some solid progress but still a long way from being able to close it with one spring at the top setting, let alone both springs. I bought it for $80 but it looks like the price has gone up on Amazon recently: https://www.amazon.com/Vatiz-Adjustable-Gripper-Double-Spring-Version/dp/B00OE12CZ2
Check out this tutorial.
I posted a link to my suspension grips in the other post. I bought the 3" and 4" on Amazon which was $12 per pair at the time. Softballs are cheaper and about 3.5".
I searched Amazon and it says they're eligible for shipping to Australia. But they are $159 delivered. No idea if that's an ok price.

Hey everyone, I bought an adjustable gripper (55-198lbs) from amazon and I'm wondering if the pound ratings are transferable to COC grippers. Here is the link to the product https://www.amazon.com/GD-Iron-Grip-Adjustable-Gripper/dp/B00IRWR82Q/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_236_t_1/136-3488398-0841458?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=9FHXFPF7FTHRYM1PYXX9
We don't have an official IronMind page on Amazon in UK. I got them here so you decide:
IronMind - Captains of Crush hand grippers (CoC Trainer c. 100 lb 45kg) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00938L9PA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_5DJgDbS1QBC1T
Robert Baraban has attachments to turn grippers into pinch implements. I have never used them though.
https://www.amazon.com/Robert-Baraban-Pinch-Grip-Converter/dp/B075H1M41C?th=1
i'm using this. In addition to the 200lbs one, I have a 100lbs one and another 150lbs one, also of the same brand. Once I heard that they are very similar to grip genie grippers
Can a daily set until failure with a grip trainer Be enough to help me build strenght and a little size on my forearms/wrists? I am trying to make it less uncomfortable doing push-ups.
I think I may have injured my left arm with a grip trainer I bought on Amazon similar to this https://www.amazon.com/FLYFE-Strengthener-Adjustable-Exerciser-Resistance/dp/B0915TY76D/ref=sr_1_11?crid=2XUMTKFC0969M&keywords=grip+trainer&qid=1662298567&sprefix=grip+trai%2Caps%2C272&sr=8-11
My left brachioradialis started hurting/being tight 5 days after I started using it (my left grip would give out during Romanian Deadlifts) and I think it may have been due to overusing it/too much intensity. It hurts the most while doing hammer curls, minimally otherwise. What should I do? Already stretching it where it's tight.
So far I've just been training with grippers, doing pinch exercises with some plates, and wrist training/strecthing. Never really bothered with extensors until now.
Are the CoC bands for extensors fine? Can't find many posts about them here. There's also some where each finger has a seperate hole, was wondering if those are any better. Also saw a few posts on these, can anyone vouch for them?
https://www.amazon.com/TheraBand-Tendonitis-Strength-Resistance-Tendinitis/dp/B000BPV3GO/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=TheraBand+FlexBar&sr=8-7
It is this one from Amazon, the description seems to have changed and miss the exact weight of the blue version, but on the unterside of the handles it says 150 lbs.
Anyone know how much actual weight the "200lb" gripper from the Logest hand gripper set is? I tried closing it and I couldn't even get half an inch to closing, and it's wierd because I can close the coc 2.5 (237.5) a couple times.
logest hand grippers: https://www.amazon.com/Logest-Heavy-Duty-Strengthener-Professionals-100LB-350LB/dp/B07JFP4L2R
I did purchase mine from Amazon for like $40. The seller was Ivanko (hopefully the real one), and it shipped with Ivanko stickers and cards. What was off-putting though was how both sides of the instruction sheet said 2 entirely different things. One said it only goes up to 125lbs of resistance, and the other side that has the resistance chart says it goes up to 345. Given that at the max setting I can't even close it half way with both hands, I'm willing to bet it's the 345 and not 125. At least even if the weight isn't totally accurate, the increments should still be in a proper order.
I've been using the 130 lbs. adjustable resistance gripper from amazon every day for the past month. I'm up to max resistance doing 300+ reps a day (at least 3 sets of 25 on each hand, another set if my arms don't feel exhausted yet, twice a day) pretty comfortably. Where should I go next? Should I change my routine or move up in weight? I'd prefer something adjustable and handheld so I don't have to spend hundreds on grip strengtheners and can train during work-from-home downtime.
There's also the bull ring from arm assassin strenegth shop that comes in a couple different sizes that you can use for finger extension with weights and a loading pin. A little awkward but usable. I don't know about larger bands, but you also don't have to do all 5 fingers at a time, i often do thumb + the 2 bigger fingers or thumb + the 2 smaller fingers, or finger abduction etc, there's many things you can do that use a smaller part of your hand at a time.
Another tool that would be good for both wrist training and pinch because it is so thick is the 3" trilobyte rolling handle from barrel strength.
Yeah gripedo is great, I've never used the original and have considered at some point getting the ball handle one to try it with pinch grip, it was origially designed for rock climbers, I was more concerned with using it for heavier pronation and supination and it's easier to do higher volume with a bar grip.
I spoke to their owner and they recommended climbing rope, here is the one I bought to use fo rit (although I used chain for like 6 months before that): you can just cut it and use a lighter to seal the ends. They said at some point they were planning on offering accessories as I asked why the gripedo didn't just come with a cord for easier setup.

Hi all,
I would like to get a gripper but I'm a little hesitant to buy a range of different ones.
Has anyone used this product or a similar one? Seems like a nice range with some solid construction for a very reasonable price. Thanks in advance.
I have FitBeast Hand Grip Strengthener Kit [Link]
But I am not sure how often should I use each item? Should do all of them daily? And how many reps/sets should I do?
I have a dinky little grip strengthener I got at a rummage sale years ago. I've been using it for a while and want to bump up my resistance. However, I have no idea what strength or brand it is. It looks like of like this but it's not adjustable and it has yellow rubber grip on it. Is there anyway to find out how strong it is?
Hey man,
I'm using two of these: https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B077M6WFFL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I've not really being doing sets or anything. Just when I have free time or I'm watching a show I'll just squeeze them as much as I can until my hands hurt.
I currently have this gripper, and I'm working towards getting to the max(132lbs) for reps. How does this resistance compare to the resistance of a CoC gripper? Are the weight values the same? It seems like an obvious question but I feel like this cheap chinese one I'm using might not have a similar resistance compared to a real gripper.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016J511AM/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_RFGPSEJ05S9QG7JFZMJN
These are the exact ones I have. The second stock image on amazon is actually how I grip it. I wasn't trying to mimic it, it's just what felt the easiest initially.
If you're using the main Reddit app, there's a small button that looks like this, in the top right corner of the screen. Tap that, and tap "Community Info," to pop up the sidebar.
For better grip, I'd check out the Basic Routine. You can use the Rolling Thunder once per week, using the same protocol the 2 hand pinch uses.

heck buy 3 sets of kettle bell.
do farmer's walk with kettlebells. back and forth.
great for conditioning. traps gon explode.
grip gon be extra nice.

but if you want explosive for 3-7 seconds at a time.
look for "captains of crush" grippers on amazon.
Looking for a good way to train grip at my desk that has decent carryover to deadlifts. Taking breaks to do farmer carries was my best idea so far, but not willing to invest in heavy dumbells at current prices since I wouldn't really use them for anything else. Those egg things look fun, but weak. I can't overhand much more than than 250lbs, so current grip isn't great but want something that will be fairly challenging. CoC trainer maybe? Other ideas?
I started working out for grip/forearms/biceps at home like in August, always had an above average grip and forearm development (i used to go to gym before covid issues). I do some hammer curls and wrist curls at home using fatgripz ( https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B07QKML1SL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) with a 10kg dumbbell for quite many reps, have no heavier stuff atm sadly, i can do like 12-13 pull ups, can do 2-3 pull ups using 2 fingers per hands (idk if these infos are worth anything), 180cm x 79kg , always did decent in strength stuff. My hands are kinda small , tho , so grip might be in a disadvantage because of it.
The scale you recommended should work great! Another super common scale to see among the grip community is this one and it's also the one I use. It works great at higher weights, but has some accuracy issues below 10lbs, but that's the only issue I have and with it. It has measured 250+ lbs without complaint, and the plastic protective layer it came with is still somewhat in tact after all my lifts, so it has some lasting ability. u/runningriot4fun

I have a Mirafit loading pin and it's under £20 (worth noting (1) it's not as tall as a few other pins but you can easily fit the plates you want for almost everything (2) due to the weld at the top for the carabiner it can't be used like some pins/attachments you can buy from David Horne). Mirafit have a rotating handle, wrist roller and rotating pull up handles but nothing for pinch grip. Search for "Rip your grip" on Amazon and Ebay for a range of items but most you could make yourself.
I recently make a couple of pinch grip blocks using the link Devinhoo posted from Barrel Strength and they're great.
This is an adjustable gripper from Amazon that is cheap considering the range of resistance, saves on buying multiple grippers.
Hi guys I was told this belongs here: https://redd.it/jdoei6 basically I just want to know if this Bison-1 product is legit? if not what would be the equivalent exercises, routines or substitute products. thanks.
So I'm 5'6, 145 pounds and I just started going to the gym for about 1.5 months, but unfortunately, gyms had to reclose due to the rise of corona cases in my area. I was trying to be able to do more pullups at the gym, but i can't hang from the bar for more than like 10 seconds, so my grip is obviously weak. So I want to increase my grip strength, but I don't want to buy a pullup bar, since gyms will reopen in a month or so. I was looking on amazon and saw this, but im unsure what weight to go for, or even if this is effective.
So basically, I just wanted to ask if these grip strengtheners are effective for being able to hang from a pullup bar, and if so, what weight should I get for my bodyweight? Thanks
Oh! Yes -- I have this one and keep it at my desk (I'm trying to work on finger strength as well). I feel like it's helped, and esp. with resistance training (even on a small level) so that I can do hangs longer.
That's probably a good point. Even a cheap $2 aluminum carabiner from the hardware store will do you better, as they actually lock close with the little teeth. Keychain carabiners are probably only safe up to around 50 lbs.

Newbie here, can anyone give advice if this is something good to go for? Would go for traditional grippers but unsure of what weight to go with so I thought this might be better for me, especially with progression in mind. Just searched up grip trainer on amazon and this was one of the top choices. Thanks in advance!
The terminology on Amazon is different than the terminology in this thread (they don't show a trainer as an easy gripper. They show a Guide (60 lbs) Sport (80) and Trainer (100). Do you think the 2 is too much to start with?

they're a lot of fun, they range in difficulty. I found them in sport stores at ~7-15€, and recently even in a pharmacy for 4€ (~5$).

>pinch close
What exactly do you mean by pinch close? Do you mean using an attachment like https://www.amazon.com/Robert-Baraban-Pinch-Grip-Converter/dp/B075HF6652/ref=pd_sbs_200_19?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B075HF6652&pd_rd_r=4be5f17b-9f79-11e8-b24b-87b97a220140&pd_rd_w=Pm5z8&pd_rd_wg=Gcok1&pf_rd_i=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=ebf3f80b-3878-4fb9-8381-bbec92f92693&pf_rd_r=0PFQSNRFYS2FCTVNEWM2&pf_rd_s=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_t=40701&refRID=0PFQSNRFYS2FCTVNEWM2 or do you mean no attachment and pinch it close. One of those is much harder than the other. I can almost guarantee some one can close it with the attachment and have no clue the other way.

My doctor said I’m good to go with grip strengthening, I’m well into my PT and recovery stage
Oh, that reminds me, some striking arts schools use handles to make push-ups more wobbly. But I'm not sure they have a standardized name, and they're hard to search for. Most of them I've seen just look like an iron spike or capital letter D with grip tape on the straight part.
https://www.amazon.com/PushX3-Exercise-Equipment-Muscles-Evolved/dp/B00JND947K
https://www.amazon.com/Isometric-Fitness-Exercise-Equipment-Textured/dp/B01FGS34EY
A lot of people seem to think they "just make push-ups harder," and increase the challenge for the triceps and stuff. But my experience with ring pushups leads me to believe it would really be wrist strength for force transfer, and if anything you'd get less triceps work. I do get some wrist work from ring push-ups, but it's easy to cheat and lean against the ring.
As a bartender - squeezing limes for lime juice.
The 0.5 is probably a good warmup. Once you get it you can figure out how much more your grip can take. The key the first few weeks is learning the technique and exactly how to set it to get the most leverage out of your hands.
I have heard good reviews on this one:
GD GRIP Adjustable Hand Gripper, Hand Strengthener (55 to 176 lb : Iron Ext. 80) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N3CQ5Q4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Mc9Szb8B3X6HR
I want grip strength for Deadlifts. I have problems gripping the bar from ~150kg+.
I'm thinking of buying something inconspicuous to have at the office. Something that doesn't make sounds, so I can use it during meetings.
I'm thinking of buying something like this.
What would be a good starting resistance?
I hope it is not too late to ask a question, I though of opening a seperate thread. I purchased an Everlast Hand and Finger Strengthener and it came with a fitness guide. I am unable to find an image of it online, but nevertheless I was curious as to whether it is a good piece of equipment to start off with. I may be able to get a picture of the fitness guide soon and upload it to show you.
YES, if the bar you are going to be gripping without trainers is to be smaller. I have one day in the gym where I attach thick bar grips to everything I do. Bench, curls, wrist curls, tri extensions, rope push downs, pull-ups,lat pull down, shrugs, shoulder press.... These little things have helped my grip immensely. It's like a grip day with everything everything else benefiting. If they don't work well for you, at least you worked other parts simultaneously. Hope that helps.

Honestly these grippers seem a little weak. 176lbs isn't even a #2 Captains of Crush. If I were you and in the market for an adjustable gripper, I'd go either with the Ivanko Super Gripper (affordable but tension curve is flat), the Robert Baraban, or the Vatiz Adjustable. Otherwise in a few months you will max out one of those grippers you are looking at.
I have this one: GD Iron Grip Adjustable Hand Gripper, EXT 90 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00IRWR82Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_9X4LybS6JDEFF
As you said, it's pricy at £70 but it is essentially 6 grippers, from 25kg to 90kg, and the build quality is superb. The handles extend which decreases the resistance so it'll be easier to transition between levels. Also if you manage to close it all the way at 90kg they send you a custom engraved one apparently lol.
Anyone know if the GD Grip Pro 55-154lb adjustable gripper actually does what it says?
I have a 22-90lb one, and bought a 44-132lb, but it's lighter...
Ok so I was in a bad accident a few years ago, my left-hand grip strength is seriously lacking. A 1 plate DL is impossible for me right now because of it; I could probably get a rep or two but that would be all. Will these CoC grippers work better or should I get something like these adjustable grippers to start with?
Dude, thanks so much again for the informative response! Going to shoot for higher reps with the Trainer before moving back to the #1.
While I got you here, quick question (since you seem to know what you're talking about); do you have any thoughts on these expander band things?:
I'm thinking they might be good to do on days I'm not doing grip training to avoid injury and increase flexibility. I'd imagine one could just use strong rubber bands or whatever but they're cheap enough that I'm thinking about ordering them. I noticed some soreness after using my #1 before I got the Trainer and it seemed expanding my fingers (even without the tension of bands) was helpful in relieving it.
Affordable way to gauge where you are at. If you can close it easily it can work as a warm-up gripper. If it's challenging but you can close it a few times you can use it as a working gripper and then go from there to see what other grippers you can buy. So either way it serves it's purpose. Don't forget to get some chalk to keep the gripper from moving, and to provide some protection for your hands.
Found one for 70 bucks http://www.amazon.com/Robert-Baraban-Adjustable-Gripper-Resistance/dp/B008FR2W7Y
Is this legit, because it's $30 cheaper even though it's seemingly the same thing. And even though gripper has only 1 review their other goods seem to have good reviews.
There's a test date once a month, I tried in May but came up short. So basically as soon as I'm ready, but I'd like that to be as soon as possible. So if possible end of July otherwise I'd want to go for the August one. I have Heavy Grips (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000LLI9G0/ref=pe_385040_127745480_TE_item), and am using the 100/150/200 pound ones. As far as training goes I have a karate background and as part of that do kettlebell and body strength workouts. However over the last month or so I've cut down on the latter and started doing a barbell routine at the gym to specifically target strength rather than strength/cardio.
I've used the rubber bands off stalks of broccoli as well. One day, it actually snapped while doing extensions and welted me an inch below my eye. Nearly lost my vision that day, but it was probably a fluke. It happened a 2nd time, and I invested in a pack of IronMind Bands
I know that the Thor would be well over 600lb which is what my setup is rated for. I wonder if the handles would break or bend before it closed.
I can tell pretty well. I'm hitting the hold button the second I see no light between the handles.
I think something like this would be great and it both ratchets in and out. Ihttp://www.amazon.com/TEKTON-5552-1200-lb-Winch-Cable/dp/B000NPR3FM/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1431744176&sr=8-9&keywords=ratchet+winch
You don't want to start with a really strong, expensive one. Plus they all wear out over time, even the metal ones, so you might as well start with a more basic model to see if you like it. You're going to have replace eventually even if you do. I like this one because it has a tensioned autostarter.
I think Brookstone and stores like that will keep some on display for people to try.
Thanks for the tips. I'll look into getting a working gripper. Looks like HG only makes 100 as the lowest. Is there another brand I should look at? This is all I could find on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Grip-Pro-Trainer-Forearm-Strength/dp/B000NJHD1W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422824516&sr=8-1&keywords=grip+50&pebp=1422824526762&peasin=B000NJHD1W&pebp=1422824526788&peasin=B000NJHD1W
