This one has good strains that all according to manufacturer do either not affect histamine levels, or actually helps degrade it in the gut. Heard some good anecdotal evidence regarding it too.
Just make sure u look up the strains in the probiotic you are buying, most common probiotic products contain strains that produce a lot of histamine, since most people with healthy guts have no problem dealing with that.
Another probiotic is the yeast based one, Saccharomyces boulardii, it's also histamine neutral.
I honestly felt like I was slipping into disorder eating when I tried eating low-histamine, and started having anxiety about high histamine foods to the point that I felt like I was literally going crazy. Doctors weren't helpful the diet wasn't working, and I just gave up on ever being healthy again which made me give up on eating low histamine.
I never planned on messing with restrictive diets again (other than gluten-free which I was already locked into for medical reasons), but after watching the documentary Cowspiracy I figured, even if I couldn't be healthy, I should at least try going vegan for environmental reasons. I put it off for months because of fears my health would get worse and worries that it'd be a difficult diet to manage, but eventually read enough evidence to realize it might help, or at least shouldn't be dangerous. The details I'm reading about your previous experiences tell me you might have the same luck.
As for the acne. Going vegan helped clear my skin up, but I still get a few spots for my period or if someone sneaks me some dairy. I've also read that a B12 "overdose" can cause outbreaks too (I say overdose like that because B12 is one of the few nutrients that generally doesn't do erious harm if you have too much, unlike many other nutrients which can have some pretty serious side effects). If you use a program like cronometer it'll tell you if you're getting too much or too little of nutrients in your diet which can also help give clues to various health problems. From reading about other people's experiences, fluctuations of acne can be pretty normal when starting a new diet, so it could be worth holding on a month or so to let your hormones and other systems work things out.
Quercetin + Bromelain or Quercetin Phytosome (Thorne, Integrative Therapeutics, etc.), Nigella Sativa (Nootropics Depot), 1g Vit. C (ascorbic acid or Liposomal) 3x a day, Stinging Nettle Leaf extract, Jarrows Zinc Balance, etc.

The functional doctor I'm seeing recommended these to me. They seem to work well, but the tablets are friggin horse pills.
I use this organic powder in coffee it tastes better to me than any liquid creamer and is single ingredient where the liquids have a bunch a ingredients.

Not necessarily. Genetics can definitely play a role, but I know a lot of people can develop histamine intolerance after a bout of food poisoning, period of high stress (leaking to leaky gut), or bacterial infection (ex: H Pylori). From what I’ve researched online, non-genetic histamine intolerance is usually due to damage of the intestines that causes a decrease in DAO production. This supplement I’ve linked to below has been a huge help for symptom relief, but I hope to not have to take it forever.
https://www.amazon.com/Ancestral-Supplements-Kidney-High-Selenium/dp/B078K8L672
I just ordered this one: https://www.amazon.com/Probiotic-Histamine-Free-D-Lactate-Probiotics-Prebiotics/dp/B079QX7TLH cause it seems to work for a lot of people, so Im gonna give it a shot myself!
Just an idea: instead of going straight for the supplement version, why not try the natural spice version ? It pairs really well with rice and chicken. That way if you do have a bad reaction to it, the dose will be much lower, and therefore far more mild.
I unfortunately reacted to Turmeric, although I'm not convinced it was a histamine reaction.
did you try some supplements/medication with glucoseisomerase? it is some other enzyme like DAO with helps with fructose intolerance. something like
>EPA and DHA
EPA and DHA is omega 3 it contains no Vitamin A, how do you come to that thought? fish oil omega 3 contains Vitamin E as conervation but no A. but zero A. you need something like this:
I buy bulk root on Amazon and then if I’m Getting sick I make a tea with it
I use this probiotic, and it works well for me! I’m trying to find the source of where I heard from it first, but it was from one of those websites where someone w MCAS shares their experience/recipes & stuff.
Stop stalking me jeez.
Kidding :)
It's super frustrating because it's like "Sweet! I finally got a diagnosis." Oh but wait, you can't tolerate any of the treatments for said disorder so go fuck yourself lol.
That being said a couple of the supplements I have been able to tolerate that still seem to help more than they harm have been a low histamine probiotic and a DAO enzyme - finally found one where the cellulose can be easily avoided.
Do you have any symptoms related to dysphagia or food getting stuck in your throat? I'm currently seeing a GI doc and she thinks I might have EoE which could be my missing puzzle piece, but given that my biopsies all came back normal, now I'm not so sure.
I recommend naturdao, many people here use it and it's a popular option.
I'm in Canada but buy it from amazon.co.uk - https://www.amazon.co.uk/NATURDAO-Tablets-Vegetable-DAO-Deficiency/dp/B07TV7JS32?ref_=ast_sto_dp

I take one before every meal
I was just thinking I should make a post on here about how much DAO has helped me, and then I saw your post. For years I've had histamine reaction to foods. Dairy, soy, coffee, lecithin, eggs (and I'm sure I'm forgetting something). When I had these foods I'd get mucus, congestion, headache, brain fog, generally feel awful, etc.
The problem was, life SUCKS on such a restricted diet. So sometimes I'd just have cheese or ice cream and suffer the consequences.
I recently discovered this sub and ordered NATURDAO.
I am STUNNED at how much it helps. I'm currently PMSing and have indulged in my cravings of full dairy ice cream and cheese. I take DAO before eating it and I have almost no symptoms. It's shocking. I say "almost" no symptoms because I've had like a metric ton of cheese and ice cream today and I have a very slight mucus...very very slight. Typically if I'd have this much I'd feel absolutely awful.
Pylori X - not sure if it’s h pylori or not but antmicrobials don’t discriminate (here: https://www.amazon.com/Alternative-Carnosine-Berberine-Microbiome-Digestive/dp/B0756HPY66/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=2234866C0BVKF&keywords=pylori+x&qid=1669438806&sprefix=pylori+x%2Caps%2C123&sr=8-3)
Black seed oil
Oil of Oregano
Zeolite
Took 3 weeks of this to get it to accept the probiotics again. If it upsets your stomach take probiotics as well but not at the same time (ex. antimicrobials in the morning and probiotics at night)
There’s a electrolyte supplant on Amazon called keto k1000 that I use. Not sweeteners, no citric acid, no high histamine junk in it. I recommend.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KDRPYBJ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I have very high hope. I read about it in an article listing different histamine intolerance friendly probiotics, and every strain that’s in it looks super promising for motility.
Ancestral Supplements Grassfed Kidney
If you don’t eat cows, there are plant versions on Amazon as well. Just search ‘DAO supplement’.
Whole Foods actually sells a vinegar free Fresh Mozzarella.
I've tried it and seemed to tolerate it quite well. But if you plan to eat it as a snack, it needs some help in the form of salt and olive oil.
I take Enzymedica enzymes with every meal:
I've personally found this combination better than any 1 single enzyme pill. It's lower in protease which for some reason I seem to be sensitive to and higher in lypase which I need, as I also seem to struggle with digestion/absorption of fats.
>What is a good plant based enzyme to try?
NatureDAO:
I take way more than recommended for it to be effective: AM, PM, and 5 minutes before meals. It's zeroed out the bulk of my life-long health problems, just incredible!
I've tried half a dozen OTC antihistamines with pretty much no response, however. So the enzyme + a low histamine diet works the best for me!
Check out the product page here: https://www.amazon.com/Ancestral-Supplements-Kidney-High-Selenium/dp/B078K8L672
I’ve tried AB testing it and I definitely see an impact since starting them. Hopefully it can help you too 🙏
I loooooove rice flour ramen noodles. They’re low histamine and I use them for eerrrythang. I have a basic garlic noodle recipe that I make and add a fried egg on top. My kids love it too! I take a couple tablespoons butter, a couple tablespoons of minced garlic, sauté in pan, add ginger powder, soy sauce, black bean garlic sauce, and combine. Cook the noodles separately, add them and mix up. Add Basil if I have it, toasted sesame seeds, you can adjust with what you have on hand.
Another easy recipe is those noodles with a packet of beef or chicken bone broth. I love this kind.
I bought one of these a while ago as i get really bad itching from them and same as you -massive welts from scratching. Its a little device that you place on the bite, click the button and it emits a tiny little electric shock to cure the itch, but without you scratching and causing the histamine to spread. It really helps. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Zap-Mosquito-Insect-Relief-Device/dp/B000KU74K4
If you can't take the heat method, I use this product called Solarcaine. It has lidocaine which is a numbing agent. Heat / hot water works better, faster, and longer for me.
There are too many species in this supplement to determine which ones work for you. I take isolated species for this reason.
Some probiotics don’t get along well with others and cause issues for some people. Try B. Longum by itself it seems to be tolerated well by most people with HI.
My RD told me if you're gonna consume palm oil, it should only be Red Palm. I unfortunately still seemed to react to it, but it was a migraine reaction and not histamine.
This was $14.99 when I bought it, it's now $41 which seems like a ridiculous increase but I picked it up on Amazon
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00D4SBI3I/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I still have like 90% of the bucket left, a little goes a long way.
Maybe try a beer or brewing supply shop, there's one near me that's sells a whole kilo for cheap: https://torontobrewing.ca/products/malic-acid-1-kg?variant=32013150403&currency=CAD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&utm_campaign=gs-2018-10-07&utm_source=google...
That would be like, I dunno, a lifetime supply.
This is the flavour that makes green apples and rhubarb sour; I'm pretty sure it's the exact same thing used to make most "super sour" candies. It goes really well with sweet. I also like to add a dash to grape juice, and then add water; I get more juice and liquid in me, without increasing my sugar intake.
We make our own apple butter once inawhile, it's delicious and low histamine. Next time I might add a pinch
Did you try the aloe vera gel? I swear it's gold for the gut. You can buy a jug at the supermarket. It's naturally antibacterial, you can use it on your skin and I've left it outside in a sterile container for years and carefully tested it, and found it to still be edible. I don't really recommend this practice and normally I refrigerate it after opening, but given it's super antibacterial qualities I was super curious to see how long it would stay edible. It tasted fine and didn't poison me, again don't do this at home kidlets. All I'm saying is that it won't go bad if you don't eat it right away,

I haven't tried pine needle tea, but fireweed/ivan chai (for example https://www.amazon.com/Fermented-Ivan-Tea-angustifolium-parviflorum/dp/B01N4S276F/) has lots of vitamin c. Even though it is fermented I tolerate it really well and it noticeably helps my hives.
Lots of people have taken this kidney supplement since it has DAO, the enzyme that breaks down histamine. I learned about this from taking other supplements from this company.
Haven't tried liposomal C yet. It's synthetic, right? Might work for me. I react to all citrus-derived Cs, so instead I currently take Rose Hip supplements. The downside is that given the formulation they don't advertise how much C is in them, but I've done the math and it's still a TON. This is the brand I use:
https://www.amazon.com/Rose-Hips-Supplement-500-Capsules/dp/B073C3NZ8H/ref=sr_1_7
The Rose Hip supplements have a bunch of other things in them too that really seem to stabilize my digestion (IBS-D).
not the OP, but i just ordered some BB536 from amazon (canada):
if i remember, i'll post here re: experiences, but i've used BB 536 before with good results, just forgot about it
Yeah it can be expensive but I’d like to be able to eat food so.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078K8L672/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 have you tried this one? it works better for me than seeking health DAO. i'm sorry about your issues procuring the one that you've been depending on, though :-/

I agree. I also have dr. Campbell's book and wasn't too excited about it.
Maybe a good place to start if you are absolutely a beginner with HIT, but otherwise I didn't seem to gain any new information or insight and none of the recipes were very appealing to me. Was only $15 on Amazon though so it wasn't a massive waste.
I am about half way through Dr. Kara Fitzgerald's Book
"Younger You; Reduce your Bio Age and Live Longer Better"
And I really love it so far! The whole book is about the process of biologically aging and disease largely due to methylation issues. Which is at the core of MCAS and histamine Intolerance. Lots of great info on how to start supporting methylation, including specific foods that you can pick and choose from (whether you are keto, low fodmap, low histamine, etc.).
The book also has recipes too, but I just pick out my own Pro- methylation foods from her lengthy list to choose from, and create my own salads and dishes based on foods that I know I can personally tolerate.
The book has been a huge motivation to really start focusing on incorporating more leafy greens (that I can safely tolerate) and just really make good choices about food throughout the day. I've always eaten healthy, but now when I prepare a meal I think "how does this support me and methylation? Does this improve or impair methylation".
On Amazon for $19 here: Younger You: Reduce Your Bio Age and Live Longer, Better https://www.amazon.com/dp/0306924838/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_NDVJWFVPM3YCY8DPFTRW

I’m a big fan of Truvani vanilla which makes everything taste like it’s blended with vanilla ice cream. Especially nice after giving up dairy.
Only 5 ingredients: peas, vanilla, pumpkin seeds, monk fruit, chia seeds.
That's what I use. One before each meal until histamine levels go down then as necessary.
Some probiotics have bacteria that make histamine. I found a brand on Amazon that does not have them. If you are taking the ones that make histamine you are just making the problem worse. I have been able to take one cap a day and have had no issues.
It affects everything you listed except GI. Maybe a little of that, but you really want an H2 like famotidine for the digestive tract. Pepcid max works for me, not as strong as I'd like but I try to avoid stronger prescriptions when I can. What works best for me is actually Genexa kids. The recommended dose for kids is 2 tablets and I usually take 4. Haven't had any issues with the ingredients and it works quickly👍.
I use thisprobiotic
I'm currently planning a trip to Mexico next month and planning to navigate this myself.
100% get an Airbnb or lodging with kitchen to cook foods. Pack your own snack for the plane.
If tolerated, bring an antihistamine for those days you know your going to have histamine buildup (alcohol, food triggering meals). Zyrtec seems to work well for me on occasions I need extra support (going out to a restaurant, etc).
Check out this histamine "wand". They are single use wands used in wine (swished in glass for 7min) to remove 95% of histamines and sulfites!! This was reccomended by my naturopath for a wedding I have this weekend. Reviews seem mostly positive (waiting for mine in the mail still): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0771H8V5H/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_NNRCM4RJQK2KPYYA7JTA?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Pack some low histamine snacks and teas with you. I'm going to Mexico and I'm sure there won't be any gluten free organic snacks at the local market 😂 so I'm going to pack some crackers and favorite cookies as a back up for when I feel the urge to indulge in "safe" junk food.
Check out this herbal tincture "Mast-ease". I'm on day 3 and using it and I have not had any itching after foods and have been able to sleep through the night, so I feel it's effective. I purchased through my ND: https://beyondbalanceinc.com/products/inflammation-support/mast-ease/
My allergy doctor was no help either. My neurogastroenterologist was a life-saver.
Don't give up, and in the meantime do as much research as you can. This is a really good book - https://www.amazon.co.uk/SIBO-Made-Simple-Practical-Strategies/dp/0306846160
I used to use iodized salt to get my daily dose of iodine, but I had to eat too much salt to get not quite enough iodine.
Now I use a dropper and take one drop a day. That said, I'm on a gluten-free diet because of stupid immune issues, and I'm also on a plant-base diet for the environment. Both diets separately can make you iodine deficient, so eating seaweed or taking a drop is the best way to make sure I'm getting enough in my diet.
The thing is, you need a very specific range of iodine in your diet. Too much or too little and you'll run into serious health issues. If you use a diet tracker like cronometer it should be a lot easier to tell at a glance how much iodine you are getting each day, and determine if you have a threshold at which you start reacting to it's presence.
This stuff helps wonders: https://smile.amazon.com/Ebanel-Hemorrhoid-Anesthetic-Phenylephrine-Hydrocortisone/dp/B089TT6YST
Coffee eventually will become hell, anything acidic is intolerable for me.
After so long on a LF diet, and then the antibiotics on top of that, you've likely really damaged your microbiome/gut. The LF diet was never intended for long-term use. A damaged microbiome is a really common root cause for HI, which you could possibly have. Getting off of the LF diet is not easy, though!
I don't think that adding in more restrictions (like low salicylate or low oxylate) is really the solution unless you're having reactions that you can directly tie to foods high in those things by keeping a food diary. Restricting more will only make it even harder to eat, stress you out more, and degrade your microbiome even more. Don't resort to just eating rice!
I was in the same situation last year: I went on LF because I was having SIBO-like symptoms but after 12 weeks I was so much worse and suddenly couldn't tolerate things I'd been fine with a few months before.
I decided to quilt LF so I used the plan in the book "Fiber Fueled", modified for histamine intake, and went from being able to tolerate zero FODMAPS to now eating as many as I'd like with nearly zero pain. It did take months to very, very slowly build things back up, but it worked. My guess is that even if your microbiome isn't the absolute solution to your issues, fixing it/making it stronger can only help. The book is by a GI doc and based in science. It is really helpful. He has done a lot of podcast guest spots if you want a TLDR of the book: he's been on the Plant Proof podcast several times and they're all good. He's also on Ep. 538 of the Rich Roll podcast, which is good too.
I still have histamine issues (my root cause was only partially my terrible microbiome), but they're better than they used to be and at least I can eat all the FODMAPS again so I'm not worrying about trying to juggle multiple restrictive diets.
I make yogurt using vita monk low histamine probiotic. I had trouble with store bought yogurt and keffir. I love yogurt, so wanted to see if this will work and it worked!
I make one cup of yogurt with one capsule. Standard yogurt making process using insta pot. Boil the milk, let it cool to 100 F, open the capsule and drop all the spores into the cup, mix well, put the cup in the insta-pot for 10 hours with yogurt setting. Next day you have decent yogurt
Then I continue to use the yogurt from this first batch as starter for next weeks of yogurt. The yogurt taste improves with real yogurt as the culture. After 1-2 months, I go back to the capsule.
I am worried that the bad bacteria would start colonizing over time naturally, so I keep going back to using the probiotics every couple of months.
I gave up on low histamine dieting after it didn't seem to be helping, and switched to vegan for environmental reasons. Surprisingly some of the new symptoms I'd developed while taking advice here have gone away, in addition to all the original ones that brought me here in the first place.
I have suffered from (seemingly) random dizziness for at least a decade before I tried either diet, and talked to a doctor about it. Some key elements turned out to be that I always have low blood pressure, but I also never really drank a lot. I noticed that my worst dizzy spells (sometimes everything would go black and I'd have to grab something to stay standing) as my Dr pointed out were from dehydration. Since making a point of drinking plenty of water each day, I almost never get dizzy unless I'm working out in the heat and don't keep my glass or bottle filled each time I drain it. Another possibility could be low iron which would mean less oxygen being moved around your body. It's best to get nutrients like iron and calcium (they effect the absorption of one another) through diet if possible, but around my period I start eating more junk food which can put me into a small iron deficit, so especially around your period, you should keep an eye on your iron levels and consider taking a supplement as you need a bit more than normal during that time.
Short of going to a doctor (since it's particularly hard to get appointments right now) I recommend a diet tracker like cronometer which is free, pretty easy to use, and lets you track all kind of nutrients including water and water from other drinks. If you still haven't worked it out after making sure you're getting plenty of liquid (obviously you need a bit more than the recommended minimum if you are doing a lot of sweating/activity), then definitely talk to a professional.
Interesting! I am in the same boat as you with the candida. Currently take one (250mg) for now since notice my histamine has gotten better (was exposed to bland mold and made it very sick this year).
This are the ones the doc told me to try and so far think they work. Need to build the courage to try something like bone broth to see if I react.

I have stomach symptoms. I have even gone to the emergency room thinking I have food poisoning and they’ve diagnosed me with ‘gastritis’ once. An endoscopy showed no issues. When I eat slow cooked pork especially, I will have severe stomach pain and nausea, sometimes unstable vomiting for days. I avoid pork now besides ground pork. And any slow cooked meats in general.
Guar gum fiber, vitamonk brand low histamine probiotic, and bitters before meals had been helping me a lot. Make sure to the get the unflavored fiber! The bitters are a good way to increase digestive juices But you can also try betaine hcl. I haven’t tried that yet so can’t vouch for it.
Also if you don’t take DAO, I highly recommend it. I take Seeking health brand. I couldn’t tolerate NaturDAO for some reason, it hurt my stomach.

Ok, first of all, I'm somewhat tired and your username made me laugh more than it should have. I haven't laughed in a while, so thank you for that.
Second, this is interesting info. Do you happen to know what strains are the best? Or do I need to look them up one by one?
Third, do you know if a probiotic with one or two histamine-producing strains will cause problems if there are also several histamine destroying strains? Should I find one that's has no histamine ones because now that I have this info, I'm looking at this one. I appreciate any and all help. Thanks

I got the MSM from GNC.... Straight powder no additives.
I bought it years ago and took a monster dose at once, I think maybe 5-10 grams and I felt like it almost killed me so I never touched it again. I realize now it was probably mass killing something.
After starting slow and steady I'm seeing all my symptoms disappear.
I took a day off today from the protocol and so far I still feel good.. No headaches.
The ginger is from GNC.
The niacin is from Bluebonnet. 100mg.
I was even able to take NAC with my probiotic at night and NAC usually would mess me up.
I'm on the 6FED (no wheat, dairy, eggs, nuts, soy or seafood) and I eat low amine.
I recommend this cookbook - it has some great, easy recipes and lots of useful information, including food chemical charts where you can see what has histamine and other chemicals.

I'm less familiar with FODMAP, but I think it would be really difficult to do FODMAP and low histamine at the same time, at least strictly. I'd be careful, especially if you're losing weight. If you don't have a good GP, find one who will be willing to work through all this with you.
You could probably find dairy and gluten free biscuits and/or crackers in the supermarket. Otherwise, you could try baking with alternative ingredients!
But my go-to, easy to eat, safe snacks are: plain potato chips, plain or slightly sweetened popcorn, or plain rice cakes or crackers (but check the last ones for soy). Celery is another option. Good luck with it all.

HMNT is an enzyme that degrades histamine and is dependent on the body's methylation system, if your methylation system is not optimal (due to MTHFR or high intake of methyl strippers like Niacin) then your histamine breakdown will be impaired. I would show your results to your functional medicine doc, you'll likely be prescribed something like this.
Weird, I don't react that poorly to H1 or H2 antags. I would suspect the microbiome and in my case leaky gut has a lot to do with it. I'm going to start this supplement today: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0871XRYQK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_2PA7ED83QHCC00CAW6XF?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Supposed to be great for healing leaky gut and dysbiosis, Colostrum is usually used but since I can't tolerate whey I'm lucky I found this product. Will try it for a month and if it doesn't help just return it for a full refund, love Amazon prime for that.

Is this the same product? Looks it was just listed on Amazon: NATURDAO - 60 Tablets - 1,000,000 HDU - DAO Deficiency - Histamine Intolerance https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08R5ZVG4L/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_96GT9E5RCFBCP0CSWV5N

Interesting, what dose per day? Have you looked into having your genes analyzed? I know there are SNPs that can affect mineral uptake and metabolism. Apparently this is one of the best Copper supplements out there as far as absorption goes, not sure if you've tried it: https://www.amazon.com/MitoSynergy-MitoActivator-Bioavailable-Supplement-Patented/dp/B07358RTP5#customerReviews
Haha right?? Oh the humanity. Btw this is the light I’m using which I just chucked on a swing-arm desk lamp. Good reviews and cheap. We’ll see.
I think we're in the same boat. I have chronic migraines, IBS, and HI. I follow a migraine, FODMAP, and low histamine diet. They help a lot but only up to a certain point.
To answer your question onions are a big doubly whammy for me. They trigger really nasty migraines and IBS symptoms. Garlic is much more tolerable and seems to cause only moderate GI upset.
Have you tried any of the low FODMAP garlic seasonings? I find them to be much easier on my system.
With Quercetin the bio-availability is very low unless you combine it with Bromelain or get a phytosome product/patented one like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KNOW1AU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_241QBXS0DEZH31V0GHV1
I haven’t tried it yet to know if I don’t react to but this one claims no yeast. It does have some other ingredients but I’m not sure how risky they would be. Just sharing cause I found it, so use at your own risk.

Potentially - I was looking at histamine specific probiotics such as HistaminX. For now I just ended my first cycle of Oregano, I'm feeling ok. I'll wait and see what happens. In the meantime I'll focus on being med free (currently taking 12.5mg Quetiapine). I'm not sure if the bad bacteria growth (assuming I'm right!) was a one-off event or something my guts are prone to.
I looked on Amazon for something with a high concentration of Carvacrol - the acting antimicrobial in Oregano. There are a ton of products with low amounts or not specified at all. I bought one from "Spring Blossom Superfoods". It's not a referral link and I'm not being paid, for the record. There seems to be 92% / 138mg Carvacrol per serving. I started with 1 drop for 2 days, then upped to 2. That's already VERY strong so I didn't increase it any further.
I tried this one Samsara Herbs Quercetin 98%+ Pure Extract Powder (2oz/57g) - Equal to 114 x 500mg Capsules - Natural Antihistamine, Antioxidant and Immune Support - N https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01K71IL52/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_KNB80E07PC0D6SF95VYA

There’s a lot of different brands that sell the peas. I bought sprout house brand
I see, I don't find bread to be a huge problem although I hadn't considered the yeast issue, corn bread may be a better option. I just freeze the meat as soon as I get back, buy it all from costco and buy the one furthest away from expiration.
The seeking health stuff seems pretty weak. I use NaturDAO which is much more potent, you have to import it from spain though so its pretty expensive. These two supplements are great: https://shop.designsforhealth.com/histaeze?quantity=1&custcol_dfh_size=13 , https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YX81H2Z/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_JVX22HP32ZFVHHXNVVJZ

I use now brand iron and it's worked great for me. You need to take it on an empty stomach with vitamin c for best absorption. You might want to check out the iron protocol facebook group, there's a lot of good info there.

There are special probiotics for people with histaminosis. It’s important to know that many regular probiotics contain bacteria that can produce histamine. I’ve read only the best on a German product , maybe this can help you find the right stuff on google that ships to your country. I am gonna order on Easter weekend and see how it goes.
Many people that get covid end up with mcas. The mayo clinic is supposed to have a good mast cell disease clinic. Have you read the book about mast cell disease by Dr Afrin? It's a great resource. https://www.amazon.com/Never-Bet-Against-Occam-Activation/dp/0997319615

Do you have an office fridge and microwave? If not, you can bring an insulated lunch bag (this is the one I have ) and get a small ice pack to put in it.
Thanks for replying! The quercetin, for example, seems to not have magnesium stearate in

Anybody else aware of other problem additives or good brands?
Yep, totally understand. Interesting because I always thought Oranges are antihistamine. Thanks for the heads up on Quercetin, I'll give that a go.

I also have chest tightness and breathing issues when triggered by too much histamine. Before I switched to a low histamine diet, I would sometimes feel like I had to actually think about inhaling, that it wasn't just happening naturally. It's really a terrible feeling.
I've been following a low histamine diet for 4-5 weeks and I still feel like I'm reacting just a little pretty much EVERY time I eat. (But not at severely as before). Emotional stress also triggers my symptoms.
Someone else on this subreddit mentioned a book called Dirty Genes which I'm reading and has been incredibly helpful. The author talks about histamine intolerance, the genes that can cause it, and offers good suggests for "cleaning up" your genes.
Looking back I can tell this has been an underlying issue for me for at least 10 years, but it's only gotten really bad this year.
I take GoodBelly Works for me when nothing else will.

Yeah, I just started taking Histame when I cheat and have something like coffee, tomatoes, or chocolate. It makes the pain/tingling in my hands lessen or even go away, which is my most unnerving symptom.
Apparently there's pork kidney concentrate in there, though, so some of the reviews said people react to the supplement itself. But so far I'm only seeing improvement :)
