Your life doesn't have to be falling apart as a prerequisite to using "recovery" support stuff. If you really want to stop drinking but feel like it may be difficult, this handbook will help tremendously.

Hi, my name is John Chau and I'm a big fan ! I am also
a surgical neurophysiologist who published a book called Neuro Alchemy detailing all of the science and stories behind new neurostimulation modalities that are shown by science to help heal the brain and improve functioning. I hope you can all enjoy this read and find it stimulating! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08CWD65TV
No, but there are books on dopamine. Where authors just as qualified as Andrew, or more, have spent thousands of hours researching the topic, and deliberating over the contents, before publishing.
Some of the books, Andrew mentions frequently. Like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Dopamine-Nation-Finding-Balance-Indulgence/dp/152474672X
Hue. They make one type called "Ambiance" that allows dimming as well as Cool-Warm white slider. (But not full color spectrum)

You can find way cheaper on ebay, sometimes ~$10/bulb. Highly recommend them, works well with apple products, all automated throughout the day. For example after ~9pm my entire home looks like its just candlelight.
Check out these glasses. I haven't used them, but I've heard good things and have been considering them. https://www.amazon.com/New-Model-Luminette-Therapy-Glasses/dp/B07VMRRB9Y
I have a SAD lamp, but it's hard to use consistently if you're moving around in the morning and most people don't sit close enough to it.
This app is what Huberman recommends in one of his episodes. I've tried it. It's well worth the $4!
I'll save you the time to watch. You want a light pad that people using for tracing that is bright and in the bluer range ("cool" not "warm" in fluorescent tube speak). I got this one (because it was cheap and bright):
From his website, App Store Link (IOS)
You’re still right though. A lot of confusion and paywalls. I’ll search through for the best one and add it to Betterdo. Give me like 2 days. I’ll remind you.
>WHAT ARE YOUR SIRENS? (+ ODYSSEUS CONTRACTS)
“Circe, a goddess and sorcerer, had kept Odysseus and his crew on her enchanted island for an entire year. But now, as her parting gift, she told him that the Sirens tailored their songs to each voyager, preying on his unique weaknesses and selfish tendencies. ‘The Greek gods knew we are our own worst enemies,’ Stan said. ‘So Circe told Odysseus exactly what to do.” …
Analyzing Odysseus’s strategy to help us resist or defeat our modern Sirens is not as simple as tying yourself to a mast—even if you had one handy. I came up with the following precommitment rules for modern voyagers:
Know who or what your Sirens are and how they will tempt you. You may have Sirens or temptations specific to each and every goal you set. You may have weaknesses that undermine most of your efforts at change. Some common ones: (1) You don’t set enough time to pursue your personal goals, and (2) You’re easily distracted, so that no goal gets the focused attention it needs. Tailor your contract or strategy to avoid these temptations.”
This (Odysseus Contracts) were a game changer for me. I had a problem with day drinking- I just loved the complete self destruction of getting shit faced in the afternoon (this urge would fade as the evening approached).
I bought a time lock safe to put all my cards, deleted Apple Pay from my phone and withdrew $20 in cash (not enough to buy enough of my favourite drinks) and set the timer for it to open in the evening (outside of my 'danger zone'- yours may vary).
Worked a treat for me but you would have to adjust the protocol to your own preferences.
I paid probably half the current price a few years back, thank the supply chain issues..
I respectfully disagree.
Meditation has nothing to do with the lymbic system or 'relaxation'. This is a common misunderstanding - especially in the West.
Meditation is purely about understanding your thought processes/consciousness and understanding the experiential state.
See my post above and highly recommend doing the intro course by Sam Harris or reading this book. Sam Harris is probably the best articulator for the root of meditation practice in basic terms. Highly recommend.
This book is by PhD researchers with decades of their own practice as well as access to the monks you dismiss a bit too readily ;) (Spoiler - they put those Monks under MRI and brain scans - its truly fascinating research)

Yoga Nidra on the other hand - is absolutely about relaxation and also heartedly recommend it.
But how much EPA and DHA does your krill oil have? Krill oil is usually quite low in those Omega-3 fatty acids.
Most brands you would need to take about 10 capsules to get around the 1000 mg of EPA.
I personally take two of Sports Research Triple Strength Omega 3 Fish Oil Supplement - 1250 mg Capsules (180 ct) each morning.
I use Sports Research Triple Strength Omega 3 Fish Oil Supplement
1250 mg Capsules (180 ct) for $0.20-$0.23/capsule - EPA = 690 mg per capsule - DHA = 260 mg per capsule
Best bang for your buck, especially if you set it for the Subscribe and Save with Amazon. I take two each day, so that’s a 90 day supply, so I put the subscribe and save for every 3 months.
I’m still also looking for good and most affordable Creatine Monohydrate sources and possibly some decent ways of mixing that with (small amounts of) Baking Soda that actually have a decent taste.
I use this, 12 inches from my face 15 minutes in the morning, and 15 minutes in the afternoon (if and when I feel an energy dip). In both cases I can certainly feel the effects on alertness and ease of sleep at night. I’ll also use it while working out, about 4 feet away for 30 minutes.

I wouldn't get hung up on having to take multiple capsules, it's all about the dose.
This brand taste good some how, and is processed in a way that makes it 75% more absorbable. Rhonda Patrick recommends it.
Just to be clear he is talking about 300-400 mg elemental magnesium. I take 3 capsules of Life Extensions Neuro-mag. Works well for sleep.
