English is my second language, but writing has always been my primary passion.
Alternatural, the book linked above, is a short thriller about Maya, a lawyer/witch who comes back to her hometown to establish her practice, but quickly finds herself with a target on her back.
The Count's Son, is a YA novel about Thomas, the sole survivor of a car crash who wakes up in what seems to be a medieval world, only to discover his parents are still alive there. (I'll be honest with you, the fact that the protagonist is from our world is somewhat of a crutch I used because I was a bit worried about writing in English. It's shorter than Alternatural, and it's meant to be a Young Adult book.)

I did write these! The first novella was just written on a whim a couple of years back and kind of catapulted me into fiction. You're absolutely right about the wider world and backstory - I use these novellas to explore ideas that I'll write about in the future. There's also a free (extremely) short story here.
Since finishing the third novella, I've written three novels which are set in the same universe and build on lots of things mentioned in the short stories; I'm about to start working with an editor on the first novel, and will be shipping around for an agent after that. Since finishing the novels, I've returned to the Inspector Ambrose series, and the next novella is almost complete. I'm hoping to launch this month, all going according to plan!
