This got me thinking so I went looking and from what I can tell it doesn't connect to Steam, but it does attempt to call an API from playfab.com which from a quick google search is a Microsoft game client API. I tried going to playfab.com but that's blocked on my work internet, so likely Melvor can't launch the client without that API call completing successfully.
Really unfortunate :(
I'm unsure how accurate this is, but https://imgbb.com/3BsvwtJ shows a list of the highest xp/h mobs for magic and which spell to use. I'm planning to just stock up on the runes listed against the spells for each tier, and go from there although I will likely do alt magic until around 40 before starting on combat.
Go on computer and click LINK and click installed and select your phone and push the new install to your phone. This is what I had to do to get it back working on android 12.
I use an app called Proximity Service on my android phone. It shuts the screen off when the prox sensor is covered but the game still runs in the background.

It's super handy for any game that requires the screen to be left on!
I'd say screen more so than battery, but there are proximity sensor apps to overcome this for android (I know nothing about iOS).

However, the mobile app has no wakelock settings, so it needs to be set up in device settings. Which means constantly changing your settings day/night or using something like IFTTT to automate it.
