> Anyone playing the game on Windows 10, iOS, Android, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and VR devices will be able to play online together. If you own Minecraft for your mobile or VR device, you'll get this as a free update this summer. If you own Minecraft: Xbox One Edition or Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition, you’ll receive the brand new version of Minecraft for free, and your existing worlds and DLC will come along to the new version with you. What’s more, any DLC you purchase will be accessible amongst the various devices at no extra charge. (For example: if you buy the Greek Mythology pack on Nintendo Switch, you’ll also own it on the mobile, Xbox One and Windows 10 Editions too - no extra charge).
Disc owners can’t access the beta due to technical limitations. Owners of the disc version of Xbox One Edition, and who have purchased DLC or played the game for at least 5 hours, will get the new Minecraft when it is officially released this autumn. Better Together FAQ: https://minecraft.net/en-us/article/better-together-faq
All owners of the legacy Minecraft: Xbox One Edition are eligible to get Minecraft, the newer cross-platform Bedrock version, for free (see this for more info). So that’s probably why you didn’t need to pay for the new edition of the game.
“Update Aquatic” is a free update.
If you saw something about a 30 day trial in the Worlds tab, it’s likely referring to the trial for Realms that’s offered for new subscribers.
Super Duper Graphics Pack is still in development. They are currently rewriting the entire graphics engine, so it can’t be released until they finish doing that.
The current release estimate, which was announced in November, is just sometime later this year.

> Q: Who will be able to play in the Better Together Update beta?
> A: All players who own a digital copy of Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition or Minecraft: Pocket Edition on Android will be able to participate in the Better Together Update Beta for Minecraft. The beta for Android and Windows 10 will be available starting today, and Xbox One will be available soon. Stay tuned to @Minecraft on Twitter for updates about beta availability.
The Marketplace provides a platform for content creators to get paid for their work.
For now, the Marketplace is the only way to obtain add-ons on console.
They have not released any specifics yet, but are working on the possibility of importing add-ons and worlds via USB. If they are able to make this happen, you'll be able to install add-ons from community sites like MCPE DL.
In the event that USB support is not added, it will still be possible to use self- or community-made add-ons on console via Realms. To accomplish this you would: (1) Import and enable an add-on in a world on another device using Minecraft. (2) Upload that world to Realms. (3) Download the world on the console. However, the add-on will only be available in that world and not available for use in other worlds.
(Note: Realms are not yet supported in the beta. Realms will be available when the Better Together Update is officially released this autumn.)
You must own the digital version of Minecraft: Xbox One Edition to access the beta. To join the beta, download the Xbox Insider Hub app. https://minecraft.net/en-us/article/how-get-minecraft-betas
Yeah, I'm that one guy. Been leaving a console on day after day since Minecraft dropped on Xbox 360. The only reason I question it at all is because they said it's different than the Realms option in their initial press release. The wording of it all throws me off. What do you think? https://minecraft.net/en-us/article/servers-coming-consoles-and-mobile
This item has been listed on Amazon for over a month.
Xbox one legacy Minecraft will not get the update as you could have had a free upgrade to the bedrock version.
>Q: Can I still access other servers via direct IP connect?
>A: Players will still be able to access servers from beyond the servers listed in the server browser from mobile. On consoles, due to platform restrictions, server access is limited to partner servers only.
Yes! Realms are private online worlds that can only be accessed by the owner and their Xbox Live friends who’ve been invited to join.
You can invite as many friends as you'd like to join your Realm, but only up to 11 friends (you + 10 friends) can play simultaneously, depending on your subscription plan. They have not announced plan options for Minecraft on consoles, but I assume they’ll be the same or similar to their <em>Pocket Edition</em> and <em>Windows 10 Edition</em> offerings.
Currently, the only supported mods for Minecraft (Bedrock Engine) are add-ons. Add-ons on consoles are only obtainable by purchasing a world with an add-on from the Marketplace.

They're trying to unify Minecraft by bringing the same version of Minecraft that is Windows 10 Edition, Pocket Edition, Gear VR Edition, and etc. to the Xbox One & Nintendo Switch. This new version of Minecraft (well, new for console players, not for other people), has infinite worlds, command blocks, Realms, servers, & cross-platform play between all platforms running this Minecraft, and a whole bunch of other improvements. If you own the current 4J Studios Xbox One Edition, you get this new Minecraft edition (called simply "Minecraft" with no subtitle, because this is intended to be the main version of the game and not a port like 4J Studios' Minecraft Console Editions) for FREE. You can also transfer over your worlds & DLC.
The PS4 would also have gotten this new unified Minecraft, but Sony apparently rejected Microsoft's offer for cross-platform play. Nintendo is on board, however, so the Nintendo Switch is getting this. This means that this unified Minecraft will allow for cross-platform play between Windows 10, Android, iOS, Fire OS, Windows 10 Mobile, Gear VR, Apple TV, Fire TV, Xbox One, & Nintendo Switch. From now on when you buy stuff from the in-game Marketplace (which will have both official packs and community-made packs, worlds, & skins), your DLC purchases will sync across all platforms using your Xbox Live account, so if you buy something on Xbox One, you get it on you iPad, your Windows 10 laptop, or whatever other device you have that plays this unified Minecraft.
4J Studios is going to keep updating their Xbox One Edition & Nintendo Switch Edition along with all the other Minecraft console editions, so you can keep playing those if you want to in addition to the new Minecraft.
If you believe Amazon, who seems to be the ultimate source for leaks, it will be released on May 1st. Amazon Minecraft Super Duper Graphics

Per their website: NEWS SPLASH: Older consoles WILL get the update!
As you’ve probably heard, the Update Aquatic is soon to bring all kinds of underwater fun to players on Java Edition and the new Bedrock Engine-based versions of Minecraft for Xbox One, Switch, mobile and Windows 10. But we won’t be leaving crafters on other consoles high and dry! Arriving a little while after the initial launch, players on PlayStation 4 Edition, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PS Vita and Wii U will all receive the Update Aquatic. With the exception of PlayStation 4 Edition, this will mark the last big effort to keep those editions up to date with our newer versions of the game. Although we’d love to keep bringing new content to all our players forever, the older generation of consoles now make up less than 5% of our active players, so we’ve made the difficult decision to focus our efforts to support players where they play Minecraft the most and where we plan to add new features: on Java, PlayStation 4 Edition and the versions of Minecraft made with the Bedrock Engine on other consoles, mobile, and Windows 10.

I'm guessing you're girlfriend had played 5 hours in the past 12 months
"Owners of the disc version of Minecraft: Xbox One Edition will have until January 30th 2018 to have played Minecraft for five or more hours in the past 12 months OR purchased a DLC Pack."

It is possible to play Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition via Boot Camp.
Unfortunately, I've noticed that attempting to play Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition causes my MacBook Pro (2015) to get very hot and the fans run at full speed. Your experience may differ depending on your Mac.
I'm unsure about the ability to play your same world from Xbox One Edition in Windows 10 Edition. There is no way to export game saves from Xbox One and I'm unsure if Xbox cloud saves will be accessible in Windows 10 Edition. It would be possible to do via Realms.
You would use the new Minecraft on Xbox One to convert and import your Xbox One Edition worlds. Then, upload that world to your Realm. You could then play in the Realm or download it on Windows 10 Edition.
Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition and the new Minecraft for Xbox One are not Play Anywhere titles. If you do not already own Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition, which will be renamed to just Minecraft after the update, you will need to purchase it separately from the Windows Store.
Unfortunately, it will not be possible to host a private server on or for consoles using the new Minecraft (Bedrock Engine).
Minecraft on consoles can only join partner servers from the in-game list. This is due to console platform restrictions. Minecraft on all other platforms can join private servers using its IP address.
From the Better Together FAQ: >Q: Can I still access other servers via direct IP connect? > >A: Players will still be able to access servers from beyond the servers listed in the server browser from mobile. On consoles, due to platform restrictions, server access is limited to partner servers only.
Realms will be the only option to host an always online world on consoles. Currently, Realms supports up to 11 simultaneous players. Realms are not yet available during the beta, but will be supported when The Better Together Update is officially released this autumn.
The new Minecraft based on the Bedrock Engine will be able to cross-play with iOS, Android, Windows 10 Mobile, Gear VR, Apple TV, Kindle/FireTV, Windows 10, Oculus Rift, Nintendo Switch and other Xbox One players. Minecraft cannot cross-play with Minecraft: Java Edition, which is the version that has mods.
Currently, the only “mods” for Minecraft are add-ons. All of the platforms previously mentioned—with the exception of Apple TV, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One—are able to directly install add-ons. This is mostly due to restrictions of these platforms.
They haven't specified exactly how add-ons will work on Xbox One. So far they’ve stated that Realms and worlds hosted on other platforms with add-ons will work. They have also mentioned it might be possible to import them directly on Xbox One via USB, but they are still working out the details.
Edit: From the Better Together FAQ: >Q: Are add-ons coming to console editions?
>A: Users of the new version of Minecraft on consoles can access worlds that already utilize add-ons or resource packs, can download Marketplace content with add-ons, and can use add-ons on USB drives if the platform allows it.

>Realms only allows 8 other people to join the world "whenever."
We do get a couple of big Servers, but they're public :/
They mentioned it in this article, so I would assume yes. I can also safely say this will probably affect the minigames such as battle mode and glide.
Buying the Java MC edition is a double bang for your bucks. I knew when I purchased it you get the MCPE win 10 edition with it. And it still seems the case. https://minecraft.net/en-us/store/#. Hit buy minecraft for windows and the code for win 10 is still included. With MCPE you can play with phone tablet and other users on that platform. So if you own Console and the MC version you kinda catched them all.
You can yes, But you will need a few things to be able to do it.
Pc, Xbox 360, Usb stick, Xbox one and the save program Horizon , which I will link in a few just finding the one I used/checking to see if there is a new one that works better
But the world size is limited to the classic size since you have to go through the 360 to get it on xbox one.
As well as the converters that work haven't been updated in quite awhile. So any new blocks won't be there. So for instance If there is concrete it won't be there because the converter will remove those blocks.
But yes it is possible to do. And its not overly complicated.
Edit: Looking at the save you wanna put on there. That is very easy and possible to do
Edit 2: So after some looking at testing. I found a newish map converter that does the new blocks. I just tested this with concrete blocks and they went from pc to xbox perfectly fine. So it is do able.
Is that how it's going to work? I mean, probably all of us have some well-developed worlds (achievement-eligible), but it's not clear that any of you want to join my world, even if I were to gift you access to my vast resources...
Do we have something regarding exactly how Realms will work (for us)? Like, can I open an existing world up, or would I be able to disable autosave, or copy a realm-enabled world?
...or maybe I should just look it up myself.
Either way, nice-looking world. I'd love to have server-like persistence and play alongside dozens of other players to build cool shit (or wage warfare).
Edit: It looks as though my questions are frequently asked, and less-frequently-but-nonetheless-definitively answered. I look forward to this feature.
My kids love Minecraft more than any other game so we worked together to write some books for kids! These are so fun, my kids got to help write them, they created the characters and a lot of the situations!
They’re around 15k words each, full of family adventures, sibling rivalry, fart jokes, and crazy kitty antics. Books 1 and 2 are available now!
For kids who are reluctant readers and into Minecraft, these are the best. Books just like these are what turned our hesitant reader from a kid who begrudgingly read his 20 minutes a day into a kid who we have to force to turn off the lights at night because he’d stay up forever reading!

If you’re on Android it’s much easier. Just download this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.luzenna.mineproxydroidtrial
When the trial runs out you can buy the full version or just delete the app and redownload it
Custom texture packs only work on windows, Android, iOS(90% sure), and VR. If this is for a realm on xbox, you can add the pack to the realm on another platform and it will sync.
It's pretty similar to Java in terms of downloading a default resource pack (you can get it here and modifying the textures. The file structure is different, though, and there's no custom models. You can, however, use custom fonts and menus (to an extent). Also, you can zip the file and change the file extension to .mcpack for easy importing on Android and windows (just click/open the file). Uploading to the store itself requires special permission from Mojang and a lengthy approval process.
Alternitavely, you can take any Java pack and convert it using this app, but it can be imperfect sometimes: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.theluckycoder.resourcepackconverter
Hope this helps!
