You are pretending to know the ability of someone else’s senses (taste, smell, sight) with your statements. You are full of crap. Do something productive and get a real life. Good luck.
This is a good starting point:
That's obviously just going to keep getting worse. Your landlord is a moron.
But, you can easily prevent more mold growth by patching up that hole so the mold doesn't have easy access to food.

I think they're talking about these, refills are available too
I recommend you get this stuff called damprid. Its helped me wonders. Its made of the same stuff as those descident packets that come in beef jerkey/electronics. Pulls all the moisture out of the air, condenses it into a liquid that then drips into a collection cup. ive used it to keep RVs and even my entire bathroom dry. it works quite well https://www.amazon.com/DampRid-Hanging-Fresh-16-Ounce-3-Pack/dp/B072LN492H

Makes sense that the sponge could grow mold. But that doesnt look very moldy to me... if you touch it and a dark purple/black powder rubs off on it it might be mold. it looks more like they cleaned something like a stove that had soot all over it from something burning. but as long as its isolated to a sponge I wouldnt worry. sponges are the perfect environment for it... but it doesnt look like its anywhere but the sponge. good luck!=
Legionella is a single cell bacteria, you would need a very good microscope to see objects that small. In order to grow Legionella sp., you need a special agar (Buffered Charcoal Yeast Extract Agar. It grows very slowly for a bacteria; typically requires a 10 day incubation period.
Here's an image I found online: https://www.microbiologyinpictures.com/bacteria-micrographs/gram-stain/gram-negative/legionella.html

I recently just took a shelf off of this shelf from amazon and just sat it on the floor to prevent this exact thing. Works great, and I get to use the majority of the shelf elsewhere
Depends on where you are and your budget. I have this running in my basement all the time (I have the 50pt size, it dehumidifies our small house). It has an internal "bucket" that you can empty manually, or you can get a short garden hose and screw it onto the port in back and let it drain into a bathtub or floor drain (has to be lower than the unit).
I agree they can be cleaned, but this method won't solve it.
So you can get a cleaning solution in there, but now you have to rinse it out. Once you rinse it out.... You again have water trapped in the toy and the problem comes back. If you don't rinse it out, you have to make sure you aren't going to hurt the kid, so you need a weak solution that probably isn't going to do the job.
If you're concerned about it, it's best to dispose of the single piece toys after a while and just get new ones. Alternatively, buy two-piece toys that can be separated and properly cleaned, scrubbed, and dried. Like these ones
