The one I'm getting accustomed with currently is https://getsharex.com/ with ffmpeg plugin. I don't use it for annotation though, but only to record the screen. For annotations I'll be using Adobe Premiere and After Effects.

The best right now that I know of is Open Broadcast. You just don't broadcast to the internet, instead point it to create a file. It's one of the few things that doesn't stumble on Photoshop/After Effects.

Good because donors are what I specialise in.
As for how I made it, I don't have a video but I do have a guide I made (I get asked for requests a lot, I don't want to do them so I send them the guide) I use gimp so its completely free.
