The first couple of weeks are the toughest. As you figure out your sleep schedule, struggle though, figure out what works best for you and get some god dam sleep. A lot of my coworkers have different sleep patterns, I sleep in the afternoon till about an hour till shift. Others go home and go straight to bed and get up after a while, this works great for people with family's as they spend time together in the evening before work. And then the odd balls like get a couple of hours here and there. And of course Coffee, it helps and if coffee isn't for you try out some energy drinks not the best for you but it get you though those first few nights. Along the way you will figure out what works, I sleep in the basement and have old pair of jeans and black curtains to knock down the light coming into the room and I've also got a thing of ear plugs from amazon that can help with the noise if you have roommates or a loud family.
Check out the Garmin Forerunner 15. It's discontinued, but you can still get it from Amazon and probably other online stores. It has a GPS outdoor running mode and a watch/fitness tracker mode and can't connect to anything without a cable.
The best I have found out of about a dozen options is the Danner Acadia 8". They're light, durable, comfortable, waterproof, and very well made. One of my coworkers told me he wears cheaper shittier boots to work because he has decided to save his Danners for hunting.
Really? I love my Bates tactical's.. I usually get about a little over a year out of them before they start to get un comfortable just to the souls wearing down (I buy 2 pair at a time)... Was actually thinking just the other day it's just about time to get me some boots.
I assume these are the ones you're talking about.. I've worn the for years.
If you read any books, it should be Emotional Support For Law Enforcement, and Verbal Judo, I've attached links for both on Amazon, Verbal Judo is a great book on communication and individuals think it's some "Jedi Mind Trick" book for dealing with people in law enforcement, it's not, it's all about effective communication, and the author even talks about how if he learned this stuff sooner, that he could have saved his marriage.
I say good on you for reaching out, and wanting to be supportive of your husband, not a lot of people are that lucky that work in corrections.

>When to seek emergency medical treatment >Seek medical attention right away if you have signs or symptoms of a serious asthma attack, which include: >Severe breathlessness or wheezing, especially at night or in the early morning >The inability to speak more than short phrases due to shortness of breath >Having to strain your chest muscles to breathe >Low peak flow readings when you use a peak flow meter >No improvement after using a quick-acting (rescue) inhaler
This is what you need, I have used it for 6 years and is perfect. If you're asking for location I personally wear it 1230, directly to the right of my buckle slightly canted for quick draw.
I use the Streamlight Pro-tac 1L. It flashlight takes cr123, AA, or AAA. 350 lumens. I own 2 one for work one for EDC. https://www.amazon.com/Streamlight-88061-ProTac-Professional-Tactical/dp/B01G75P1SC
IMO don't get a rechargeable, you're cucked waiting for it to recharge instead of just popping a fresh battery in.

I've been wearing these for four years according to Amazon.
There is no longer a physical test for your civil service test. The only thing resembling a test is after you've selected as a candidate you will have to do basically a sports physical at a Dr.'s office. Blood and urine test, height, weight, blood pressure etc. and lift a 50lb box.
I took the the test almost 4 years ago so I don't remember 100% but it is a combination of reading comprehension, problem solving, memory, and common sense really, maybe some basic math? idr
You can study for it, I used and would recommend a study guide book. I used this and this to study.
What area of PA are you in?
These are fantastic https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001P4E6IC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_bUvNyb3EBMCV6
Don't pay more than $100 for them (I paid 86). Love the side zip and adjustable gel heel. I paired with Dr. Scholls insoles for extra cushion/arch support. I'm 8 months in and very little wear.
