Not sure that "Remittance Man" is definitely a Twain nod, since it's a well-established term on its own. Either way, it's a neat connection.
Buffett also voiced Huck Finn on the album Mark Twain: Words & Music, which was released on his Mailboat Records label.
I came across this photo while trying to show a friend of mine a photo of Captain Tony's saloon so I could tell him who my cat Captain Tobey is named after.
When I got Tobey, he was 10 years old already and I didn't want to change his name after he had gotten so used to hearing it his whole life. I knew that I wanted him to have a name inspired by Jimmy Buffett so I figured that nickname would work. He is now 21-years-old and answers to both Tobey and Captain Tobey.
Since he sleeps with me, I just bought a new sign to hang above my bed that reads Captain's Quarters.
If anyone is interested in seeing the movie, and has Amazon Prime, it's available for free (https://www.amazon.com/Rancho-Deluxe-Jeff-Bridges/dp/B00950XDUA). I watched it last night and, though not a great film, it did give a little context to some of the songs.
