For open source, a lot of people have recommended Digikam (www.digikam.org). I haven't tried it yet because on first look, it seems too complex for me. I'm not good with image-manipulation programs, so, for example, if I want to get rid of that smudge in the middle of a photo, it would take me forever to figure it out. I'm trying out a trial version of something called ACDSee Photo Studio Professional 2020 (acdsee.com/), which is more my speed. It does cost, however, but you can get a year's license for about $60 if you buy before Aug 5, 2020. It also has subscriptions, but I can't really afford subscriptions now.
Has anyone tried either of those?
The text of the article doesn't have the quote about Picasa, but the audio does. Here's a transcription:
> NPR: The colors were incredible, were these the actual colors that you were looking at from space? > > SK: No, I never added any color to anything, but I did enhance the natural colors using a program that was part of Google's Picasa. It was a photo editing program were you could do digital enhancement of images.
I'm not knocking Picasa BTW, I love it as photo viewing tool. I was pretty disappointed when it was discontinued.
