The original pins are probably not usable. If you buy blank tie tacks, the wide disc at the base will provide a big surface area for adhesive to work. Try using something like Aleene's jewelry glue or E6000. (I've used E6000. It holds well, but it's a pain to work with.)

They're like safety pins but have an adhesive back that could hopefully stick to the metal. I've found some at Michael's. They're prob not hard to find at other craft stores.

The original fastener looks handmade, so unless you know a welder, it might be tricky to replace them exactly like the original.
