Thanks!
i use a wide-tooth texturizing comb like this:

but will finger comb through the day
Why not just buy Jojoba oil or some other oil Grapeseed, Argan, etc? https://www.amazon.com/Healing-Solutions-Aceite-jojoba-1/dp/B07TPLR6M4/
4x more for the same price, can probably find even cheaper
They haven't really taken off since they've been introduced, I guess it's too much of a niche within a niche. The only one I know about still is easy tiger. Death pomade is relatively new and is a petro but has an easy washout. They also sell oil absorbing sheets that come in something like a zig zag pack that can clean up a greasy forehead which is supposed to be much better than trying to wash the skin. They have premium ones like the bamboo charcoal and I've seen inexpensive ones as well.
I would recommend a Kent 7t, a dual coarse/fine one. For this look here I used this comb for a coarse first comb through, https://www.amazon.com/Conair-Styling-Essentials-Comb/dp/B001T8W7AI . It has been invaluable to me and at a local gorcery store costs me about 1.80 usd. After that I went through it with a women's detangling brush from WET which are very VERY good and you can find them at around maybe 5 dollars at tj max. Most men dont understand how well women's products work on men, but I've never had that stigma. After that I did the fine work with my Kent 7t, which believe me is a wonder. It is hand cut cellulose vs injection molded plastic, and the teeth are rounded so they dont chew your scalp up. Then I went through the fine details like edges and sideburns with a VERY tiny 1 inch brush from CREMO like this one here. https://tiltmakeup.com/products/cremo-beard-trimming-shears . I received this set as a gift, i dont use the shears much but I do use the tiny little comb for small delicate work. So yeah lol I have it down to an exact science. After 5 years of styling my own hair, I can achieve this look with all those tools in under 2 minutes (damp towel dried hair). But like I said earlier, taking care of your hair is just as important as doing it. If your hair is greasy because you dont shower/condition correctly, you will get unsatisfactory results. If its dry because you let too many days go by with buildup it will affect your hair too.
I have the perfecto razor and brush stand from Amazon Perfecto Deluxe Chrome Razor and Brush Stand - The Best Safety Razor Stand. This Will Prolong The Life Of Your Shaving Brush. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KO46CTA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_WjD0xb5QE8EPT
The brush by itself is an omega 13522, and the brush in the stand is a maggard synthetic 22mm. That maggard is a great brush. The razor if you care is an ikon x3 slant.
I just bought XX. After 2 days wearing it, it's my favorite pomade to date.
I recently tried Lockhart's Authentic Hair Pomade and did not like the overpowering smell, the hold, or the greasy feeling it left on my hair.
I also tried Smooth Viking, a brand that is highly rated on Amazon. It dried too quickly and left flakes in my hair.
Will definitely be trying X and their Nolde Forest pomades as well.
I realize I've been doing the exact opposite of your advice, so looking forward to seeing some heathy hair after now. Thanks!
Any shampoo/conditioner recommendations? I've been using H&S and Old Spice for this too.
Is this the tonic you're talking about? https://www.amazon.com/TheSalonGuy-Benefits-Leave-Treatment-Spray/dp/B074JHLNFB/ref=sr_1_2?crid=3GZXL18PDA7G&keywords=salon+guy+25&qid=1671032515&s=beauty&sprefix=salon+guy+25%2Cbeauty%2C93&sr=1-2

Everyday, but I alternate between ketaconazole and shampoos that aren't as harsh (but definitely can still be drying) like those targeted at infants, shampoos with oils (like this Aveeno Almond Oil Blend which I'm convinced only has trace amounts of oil)
I have not used the product you mentioned, but I have used and can recommend trying out REUZEL's extreme hold, no-shine, water-soluble pomade for that matte look. It is a stronghold though, so working it into your hair will be a bit of a chore - I would suggest running hot water for a minute or 2 over the tin just to soften up the product before applying.
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07FK4B2L2/ref=emc_b_5_i
I would suggest trying the product you mentioned though to see if you like it and if it works for your hair.
I have fine hair. I’ve yet to find a pomade, wax, clay, etc that doesn’t weigh my hair down. Until I do, I use a texture powder. Have you used one of those? I prefer the OSIS+ powder. Extreme hold and very light looks like you have nothing in your hair at all. Maybe give it a try?

Yes i have heard of it, but they seem to be out of business. here is some information about them that i have found for you. good luck

hope that helps
What I do is I let the bottom of my hair, the roots, clump together to hold and give me volume. Then I use this comb to comb the top parts to give it some separation and get rid of the clumps. It works okay
There was another guy here that talked about how he uses a clay shampoo. And he says the shampoo separates his hair strands to give the appearance of fuller hair. I was thinking of trying that next to help with the clumps
Is this the product?
Shear Revival Gray Ghost Strong Hold Vegan Cream https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HK2T9W9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_HGZ45HJWWZDVB322F5V5
Reading the reviews, a lot of them mention that it’s medium hold so I don’t know how to feel about that.
Unrelated but is your name William S. by any chance?
IEM's for shorter sessions or wipe clean my headphones every so often... I dont find its too bad. But my headphones have a leather headband so its pretty easy to wipe down.
Edit: Might be worth seeing if this or something similar will work for your headphones if its bothering you that much.
Here’s the specific one I use: #MG DASHU Classic Incerdible Shine Pomade 100g-The Classic Incerdible Shine Pomade is a Water-Based Pomade with Excellent Strength and Shine Without Heavy commitments! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0873CRB69/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_G0CRRHVEYD1AQF5PJ9TT
It can be found for a better price if you look around. I like it better than gatsby.
I came to reddit looking for an alternative for Crew Defining paste as it's becoming harder to find or pricier online. What's funny is I also used Suave as my backup if Crew Defining Paste was out.
Have you tried Arcadian Matte Paste or Shear Revival Northern Lights Matte Paste by any chance?
What the difference between fiber paste and mate paste?
I tough about this https://www.amazon.fr/Shear-Revival-Northern-Lights-Matte/dp/B07CSJ41G1/ref=sr_1_7?__mk_fr_FR=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&dchild=1&keywords=matte+paste&qid=1609191387&sr=8-7
Thanks, this reassures me that if and when I do get a prestyler, it would've been a good investment. I'm currently considering Aveda's Thickening Tonic.
Do you have any products in mind that can be used as a pre and post syler?
I think I'll get Dove and then try Northern Lights. I don't know about Baxter's as it is oil-based, but I might try it eventually. I heard many negatives about Claymation, so I'll probably stray away from it. I'm not sure what you mean by the Amazon one, but here's a linl link https://www.amazon.com/Hair-Styling-Clay-Men-Hairstyles/dp/B0167HOOEC

Thanks for the replies and this great post! It was very informative, and helped me quite more than you might think.
Yeah, I'm thinking of getting some Aveda Thickening Tonic or Pure Abundance Style Prep as a prestyler then blowdrying, then a sugar spray plus some matte paste... though I'm thinking you're right, a cream pomade sounds much better. Nostalgic Grooming Medium Moon Paste seems similar to bayside and a bit more affordable where I live so I'm thinking I'll go for that. I appreciate your advice
My hair and face (not forehead) need to be oiled to keep it from drying out so I don't use these but you can buy these oil absorbing papers that you can carry with you. I think you're probably better off with that than looking for dry hair products. Here's an example of one that's available.
For those who live in Europe : The Patricks M3 is available for ONLY 16 € (!!!) on Amazon France : https://www.amazon.fr/PATRICKS-Cire-Effet-Fixation-Forte/dp/B01I30E0JU/ref=sr_1_1?__mk_fr_FR=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&dchild=1&keywords=patricks+m3&qid=1598108412&sr=8-1

I think they do ship in other European countries right?
I just ordered mine on amazon using prime. Came in 2 days. https://www.amazon.com/Flagship-Pomade-Black-Heavy-Water/dp/B01DQS6TP2
Hey. This one looks good, especially because it's affordable compared to the others.
Which one is better:
https://www.amazon.com/Lockharts-Authentic-Hair-Pomade-Heavy/dp/B00NRYSTMC
or
Got a link to the nostalgic one? Is it this one?
I’ve tried a lot of different products (wax, gel, clay, pomade) and this has been a success for me: relatively inexpensive: Prospectors Iron Ore Strong Hold Pomade 1.5 oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IDSGRV6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_wgOEAbHBB527A
is this the reuzel tonic? https://www.amazon.com/Reuzel-Grooming-Tonic-11-83-oz/dp/B019624D4Q/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1519532933&sr=8-2&keywords=reuzel%2Btonic&th=1
what does it exactly do? or is it a volumizer
Can you post a photo of what you are after?
It seems like you want some extra volume but don't want it to be shiny and look like you have product in? If so I think a clay would be your best bet. There are lots of great clays out right now (they are very hot at the moment) but I am not sure what is available in the UK.
Based on what is available from Amazon in the UK I would say Reuzel Matte Clay would be worth a try (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Reuzel-REUZEL-Clay-Matte-Pomade/dp/B01MY4V5V6/ref=sr_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1504640000&sr=8-4&keywords=reuzel) and if you want to try something from a smaller brewer BluMaan Cavalier Clay may be worth a try (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cavalier-Clay-BluMaan-2-5-74/dp/B01L9CTJSQ/ref=sr_1_16_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1504640020&sr=8-16&keywords=clay+pomade)
Both of these should provide some extra volume as well as a bit of control and hold. They will add some texture and will not look like you have product in your hair.
I use Fast Orange.
It's an orange based pumice soap in a pump, meant for greasy mechanic hands! It gets even my stickiest, gunkiest clays off.
What's your budget? I just ordered Reuzel Blue from Amazon.com (not.ca) for about $17.50 US to Canada (including shipping/taxes)...
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01452YZOA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I currently use OGX Anti-breakage Keratin Oil Shampoo, and I have used Head and Shoulders as well. Unless you're using oil-based pomades a lot, you need not worry about shampoo brands.
As far as conditioning goes, I skip it every other day. My hair, although thick, can get super silky with conditioning and flattens my hair with just a little bit of pomade.
I love Reuzel. Honestly, I wouldn't let anyone else dictate what hair product I use. Is your girlfriend frequently shoving her nose into your hair? I don't understand how she could smell it so strongly...
Since the Reuzel is a waterbased high hold, high shine, and doesn't really set in "hard". It's pretty unique. Which is cool. but it's definitely one of the better ones... you could try something like Shiner Gold's Psycho Hold but it's going to set in a little harder.
my go-to is this Kent comb from Suavecito
and then sometimes I'll use a big-ass boar's hair brush like this because it's good at combing without tugging or pulling / harming the hair. Also, it feels real naice.
these two?
Hello everyone. I am about to officially announce the Pomade Club App. Feel free to download and test if out. For android there are so many different devices out there so there's bound to be bugs. Also, it seems like it cannot be installed on some android tablets. Iphone version seems pretty solid. If any of you can download it, play around with it, log in, etc. That would be awesome. If any of you have time to go as far as placing an order, Message me and i will get you a 15% off coupon you can use (usa only). After you use the app, comment what device you are on and if you have any problems. Also, note that at this time, the main banners on the main page are not clickable. This is one limitation i decided to fix later.
About the app, i made it so that people can browse the website faster, be notified when new items are added or when an item is restocked, when there are sales, and more. The rewards system is integrated to it and soon you can earn points by using the app, writing reviews and such, so basically you will be able to earn free pomade with this app. There a lot of things planned so i hope you like and enjoy it. Thank you
