Remember, he's talking about Skynet, our test network. This will not apply until September for our mainnet tokens.
It's possible to start the Qtum testnet in regtest mode if you are looking to deploy a test contract. There's no need to purchase anything if you are just exploring the system.

Here's a guide that may help, but if you need more assistance, we're always watching this subreddit.
sigh do u know how 2 math? or how 2 google? or how 2 use excel? Makes me sad that the people invested in QTUM are those who don't know how to use google/excel/life.

" P =720 * (your weight) / (network weight)"
https://steemit.com/qtum/@cryptominder/qtum-staking-tutorial-using-qtum-qt
"The Expected time to earn reward (in days) is roughly calculated by: (network_weight / your_weight) * block_time_in_minutes / 60 minutes / 24 hours."
Relax.
Coinone announced their listing last week. The major volume spike happened after the initial announcement up until the listing with a really strong rally seeing gains of nearly 30-40%. There was a fairly healthy (in crypto terms) pullback against the USD. Lot's of good price milestones were hit. A new ATH was set for both market cap and the USD. Prices are leveling out around $16-17. That's just under the old ATH and up 25% since last week. If the price dumped back down to $13 then I'd be a lot more worried.
ETH and BTC started rallying heavily and that combined with the overall Coinone launch fuckup killed the bullish momentum for now.
QTUM is still doing a fifth of Coinone's volume even taking into account the fact that ETH had a strong rally the past few days and XRP is pumping today.
Right now, the only thing you have to be worried about is this chart. If the overall crypto market remains bullish, QTUM will continue to grow.

this has great instructions. use the wallet you downloaded not the one suggested in the document above. it is outdated in terms of wallet version but the rest of the instructions are correct.
https://steemit.com/qtum/@cryptominder/encrypting-backing-up-and-restoring-your-qtum-wallet
make sure you use the latest wallet version. the updated wallet link is posted on the qtum reddit homepage. scroll down and there will be a heading
"Disadvantages of Staking using qtum-qt The qtum-qt wallet is a useful GUI to interface with the Qtum blockchain. However, if you shut down qtum-qt (or put your laptop to sleep, or get disconnected from the network), you will no longer be staking your coins (until you restart qtum-qt and re-synchronize)". https://steemit.com/qtum/@cryptominder/qtum-staking-tutorial-using-qtum-qt
So if you shut down you are no longer staking, but the moment you reconnect and resync you sre staking again? So you don't have to wait another 500 blocks to stake?
What if you send more qtum to that same address. You will then have to wait 500 blocks for the address to remature?

Check this reference out but make sure you download the latest ignition wallet. This post is a few weeks old. Everything else should be the same
An old Erc20 token to MEW will be fine.
For new mainnet Qtum token download appropriate wallet from https://github.com/qtumproject/qtum/releases/tag/mainnet-ignition-v1.0.1
For conversion
https://changelly.com
Best practice - always test send first.
Good Luck

I'm not sure what MEW is, but if you want to store Qtum off-exchange, Qtum has it's own desktop app that you can use to send and receive Qtum. They also have an excellent mobile app that functions as a lightweight wallet.
Desktop app here: https://github.com/qtumproject/qtum/releases Android app here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.qtum.wallet&hl=en (there's also an iOS app but you'll have to search for it on iTunes/ app store)

https://steemit.com/qtum/@cryptominder/qtum-staking-tutorial-using-qtumd-on-a-raspberry-pi-3 Maybe this link will help, It didn't help me much although. I am in the same boat as you it seems tho. I have been trying to download and stake my coins for a while now. Luckily i have had a little help from a dev on the slack channel. But so far i have only got the wallet downloaded and running. LOL Now i'm trying to figure out how to back it up. Hopefully he will help me some more. Although i know its not his problem. Anyway, if that link doesnt help you then i suggest signing up to qtums slack channel and try to get help there. Good guys and they will help.
Thanks a lot for the replies guys.
@WeakHands_Trader - haha exactly. I am still a bit confused.
I don't understand why some people recommend I backup the wallet before I encrypt it. Isn't this the whole point of encryption, to make the wallet (and backup) more secure?
I followed this guide which recommends that I backup the wallet before I encrypt it: https://steemit.com/qtum/@cryptominder/encrypting-backing-up-and-restoring-your-qtum-wallet
https://steemit.com/qtum/@cryptominder/encrypting-backing-up-and-restoring-your-qtum-wallet
here is a great link explaining how to set up a qtum wallet on windows, mac, or linux. Below is the link to download an ignition wallet. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Would love to join the Qtum staking community if there is a guide or you want to make a guide together! Let me know - I have around 1,300 followers on Medium and 570 on Steemit! :)
Would not be a bad way to enroll new community members to support the Qtum network. Awesome job helping out the community already!
followed the steps here. https://steemit.com/qtum/@cryptominder/qtum-staking-tutorial-using-qtumd-on-a-raspberry-pi-3
Got everything running - On Step 10 - Encrypting and Unlocking Your Wallet. $ ~/qtum-wallet/bin/qtum-cli -stdin encryptwallet
I can see "unlocked_until": 0, and I set that to 99999999
I created a new account with $ ~/qtum-wallet/bin/qtum-cli getaccountaddress "accountname" Account info show default account "" and "accountname"
Does "getaccountaddress" create a new account and key? I assume It does because it shows up on listaccounts.
I transferred 1 Qtum from Binance to "accountname" public key. Binance confirm transfer completed.
But when I check with $ ~/qtum-wallet/bin/qtum-cli getwalletinfo My balance is 0.0000000
What might I have missed or done wrong?
Here is the block completed transfer https://qtumexplorer.io/tx/9c7f89e209f09debfc74c62a74e5c1f8e13a87ba0e8d6ed81628c29235db5aff
Windows version Wallet I can see the 1 qtum with the same wallet.dat file im using in raspberry pi.
Someone suggest raspberry is not updating the blocks?
Hi Guys
Also having issue here, I followed the steps here. https://steemit.com/qtum/@cryptominder/qtum-staking-tutorial-using-qtumd-on-a-raspberry-pi-3
Got everything running - Step 10 - Encrypting and Unlocking Your Wallet. $ ~/qtum-wallet/bin/qtum-cli -stdin encryptwallet
Fine, I can see "unlocked_until": 0, and I set that to 99999999
I created an new account with $ ~/qtum-wallet/bin/qtum-cli getaccountaddress "accountname"
account info show default account "" and "accountname"
I transferred 1 qtum from Binance to "accountname" public key. Binance confirm transfer completed.
But when I check with $ ~/qtum-wallet/bin/qtum-cli getstakinginfo
My balance is 0.0 both on default "" and "accountname"
What might I have missed or done wrong?
Thanks in advance.

download an ignition wallet from above but before you do like i said save your wallet.dat file from the test net somewhere safe. Then after follow the recovery instructions from the post below
https://steemit.com/qtum/@cryptominder/encrypting-backing-up-and-restoring-your-qtum-wallet
So I'm trying to follow this to restore my wallet using backups: https://steemit.com/qtum/@cryptominder/encrypting-backing-up-and-restoring-your-qtum-wallet
but I'm not seeing how this works on the new wallet. am I just an idiot for not being able to find documentation on the ignition wallet?
Go get a Bitfinex account so you can deposit your QTUM and start trading, as soon as it goes live.
Use this link for 10% off trading fees:
If liqui is still using the erc20 tokens you should be able to withdraw them to https://changelly.com/ and exchange them for mainnet tokens. What does your QTUM wallet on liqui start with? Mainnet wallet addresses start with a Q so if your liqui address does in fact have a Q at the beginning then you do have mainnet tokens. If not you’ll have to exchange them.
Guys, see our step-by-step guide with all necessary information: https://changelly.com/blog/swap-qtum-changelly/ QTUM is temporarily out of Changelly list, so you can only swap old tokens to new ones.
Right now it's selling for $5 but only on a limited number of exchanges. Are you expecting it to drop or are you just basing it off of what things were a month ago with crypto?
The QTUM wallet is probably the easiest wallet I have used so far. Its really simple, fast, and really no technical skills needed. I used this guys pdf and think its the easiest to follow. https://www.docdroid.net/MMAIi2k/mainnet-results-staking-faq-october-1-8.pdf
Basically, just download the wallet. Unlock the wallet. Transfer your coins over. Boom you're staking. Let the app run in the taskbar on your computer. It needs to be on to be staking. That's really it. Took me about 15 minutes total and this is the first time I have ever done staking.
Please try again, and make sure you are using the current version of the wallet https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.qtum.newwallet
