Damn, these kinds of cravings are far outside of my level of experience. I'm here if you need some support or anything, but if you are having suicidal thoughts, (and again, grain of salt due to not having much experience in this realm) you may want to try weaning off slowly by gradually reducing nicotine intake day by day until you get to 0.
I have seen this work for some bad cravings but also consider the site,
www.7cups.com if you want to chat with random people who care. This could help with the mental side of nicotine withdrawals if you don't want to get into therapy or counseling or want a free resource, but definitely feel free to reach out here if you think I could help somehow as well.
You've got this. If you doubt yourself, just remember: internet strangers believe in you :)
The best things for me: Wintergreen ice breakers, like 3 or 4 at a time depending on the craving level. With ice breakers, use one of these
Then, when the cravings still don’t chill, put in your air pods or whatever and put on some EDM music as loud as you can stand it. I’ve been listening to a lot of space Jesus. And fucking dance. I’m talking lock the door and just go off solo.
All of this has helped me a lot, best of luck to us.
Hi! Yes it's just the apple health app with an apple watch. It knows nothing about my nicotine intake, this is strictly from readings on my breathing, heart rate, etc.
My biggest tip is to quit vaping psychologically before you stop physically vaping. By the time you throw away your last vape, you should be sure that it is doing absolutely nothing for you. There are a few resources like Allen Carr that can help with this, though I think Allen Carr kind of founded this perspective. I also liked "Addiction Mindset" on YouTube's perspectives. Dr. Frank. He has some videos that really helped me prepare.
But yes my biggest advice is to not try to quit until you are absolutely chomping at the bit to stop, meanwhile unpacking and disassembling all your beliefs about why you vape with the help of books and teachers that talk about the nicotine trap.
Hope this helps! Good luck! You can do this!!!
The best form of quitting is whatever works. For me, thats cold turkey. The first few days are way way worse but after 3 days and nic is out of your system you are in a way better position.
Irritability is my biggest problem. I dont really get headaches but i drink a shit ton of water when i quit
My advice
if you drink coffee/caffeine, drink less. Nicotine metabolizes caffeine so when you quit you will be way more sensitive.
L-Theanine - I read about this on here a while ago and its a huge help. It naturally cuts anxiety/irritability with no side effects. Its commonly taken with caffeine. I stopped drinking coffee when i quit and just took a pill of 100mg caffeine with 200mg l theanine. i take this one. This is less than half the normal amount of caffeine i would get in a day
Box Breathing - if youre in the military you prob know about this. Inhale 4 seconds, hold 4 seconds, exhale 4 seconds, hold 4 seconds, repeat. Do this whenever very angry or irritable
Exercise - i pushed myself like crazy. During cravings i would also just do push ups or pull ups and it helped a lot
this is a really interesting question i’ve been thinking about a long time.
I think the main thing is that flossing isn’t all that rewarding, and it’s tedious.
most habits aren’t effortful.
addictions are absolutely habits. in medicine, they’re sometimes called “toxic habits”, which i’ve always liked as a descriptive turn of phrase.
This book is a very nice primer on the topic if you’re interested.
Yes to the cravings and nausea. To deal with cravings, I’ve been chewing licorice sticks. Not sure about the insomnia because I was also having that early on so I’ve been drinking sleepy tea and having a Benadryl an hour before bed. Nausea I just started getting this week.
It’s not the most ideal way to quit but using nicotine gum while you’re quitting vaping (especially nic salts) makes a world of difference. Here’s the gum I use Amazon
you can do it, and you will, as long as you keep trying. remember not only the benefits of quitting, but the harms from continuing. something i saw that helped me quit cold turkey after smoking for 10 years is that there is no benefit to smoking. your addiction may give the illusion that smoking is helping you, but it simply isn’t. it’s an extra expense, it’s off putting, you likely no longer get a buzz from it…not to mention, it’s probably the most harmful thing in your life right now.
on a more practical note — tho my cravings have now shifted to a passing thought, the only time i have them is when i’m bored. so, while you quit and withdraw, try to keep yourself preoccupied. if you struggle with the oral fixation, try tooth picks over gum or sugary things like candy. these helped me immensely, and even give you a nice mouth tingle that will help with your cravings. finally, quitting is mostly mental. you need to have faith in yourself and believe that you can quit. none of this “it’s impossible for me” talk. i believe in you, so believe in yourself mate!!
I will need a wide angle picture of where it’s positioned on the boob to help you… haha just kidding but I used these for my patches and they worked PERFECTLY! Here is the link to amazon
and drink one a day. I recommend the 64 oz. Thank me later, sorry for the excruciatingly long link.
