I'm afraid not, the two use different types of tech and aren't compatible. Looks like Amazon does have chip readers under $50, it would give you a string of digits that you can search the national database for.
Any of the units that don't require a wire run can be easily bypassed. If it is low security, and bypassing isn't a huge issue, that might be acceptable. Otherwise I recommend you get one that has the controller inside and the rfid reader outside. I've used one from amazon that is inexpensive and easily programmable. Being cheap, it uses the EM4100 format 125KHz RFID cards/keyfobs. It can be programmed and accessed across an ethernet TCP/IP network. All the parts are easily available on Amazon.
There so many factors. If the card is a high frequency card that your phone can read, and the student hostel only uses the serial number of the card (not the data stored on it), and you have a rooted Android phone and you have an app that can do that sort of thing (like NFC Card Emulator Pro), you might have a chance.
Not being able to read it with your phone is actually a good thing. Means it's probably a low frequency tag. Much easier to clone. I would want to buy a reader/writer to confirm before buying an implant but looks like you could use the dangerous things T5577 https://dangerousthings.com/product/xem/
I would definitely buy a low frequency reader/writer before the implant to confirm. You can get a proxmark ez off aliexpress for like $50 if you are technical. I've used this low security Wiegand reader with good success for https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00UX03TLO (~US$90) for about a 2 foot range with EM4100 type keyfobs and standard cards and got 3 foot range with "long distance" thicker cards. Interfacing with an arduino is pretty easy. The reader is about 10" square and 1.5" thick.
Thanks, this worked btw (sort of). I have an adhesive card pouch (~2mm thick) stuck on a metal secrid card holder and it still required 2 non-rfid cards behind the oyster to insulate from the metal!

I never did end up making my own antenna. After a lot of research, it just didn't seem worth the effort or likely to succeed. I eventually found a unit that actually came with a matching antenna of the right size (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08KPWSGBK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1), but even then had problems with the provider. It took more than a couple tries for them to ship exactly what was shown in the photos. I think I ended up going with some other supplier, but my notes run cold at that point.

Nah nothing like that sorry, we hire and service temporary power equipment and we’ve just put rfid tags in each of the items so we can easily log where it goes and what gets serviced/replaced on the items.
We have a scanner at work to log in/out and repairs done in the workshop but are looking for a way to be able to do this out on site rather than writing everything down then transferring it all into the system back at work.

passive uhf tag would be enough for your application, which can be read at distance of 0- 10 meter.
Though active rfid tag can read further, but not recommend, because a) it is far more expensive than passive rfid tag b) since it is battery assisted, therefore its life is not too long c) most of active rfid tag or active rfid reader are based on private protocol instead of ISO or IEC protocol, therefore its compatibility is not good

1) you sure those are the right format for cloning your campus’ proximity card? There are multiple standards using 125khz, and the amazon page you linked is for EM4100 with a read-only ID 2) I did find EM4100 stickers that claim a 0.3mm thickness: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PCJKPZZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_z5.QDbB9Z2XKW 3) If your campus uses HID Prox (incredibly common), you’ll want to look for T5577 which can emulate HID Prox, effectively cloning them. 4) Ultimately your question is about form factor, and aside from the required structure or thickness of the rfid chip/antenna, what is available is hard to qualify a priori. It’s really a matter of doing a lot of searching across lots of vendors. I would suggest using the words “thin” and “sticker” to get results nearer what you want. Obviously there are lots of pvc card and keychain fob styles available.
Assuming the readers are LF (125khz) they would not be able to read anything from your your phone as it will only do HF (13mhz). There are some situations where if the readers will read both lf/Hf the actual data that is the credential can use both but this does not look like it to me. Weird i tired the blue cloner from amazon. Honestly i have no clue what that thing even did. I mean it got the Read part and write part but when i go to test the fobs it doesn't open door. Ill check for the T5577 fobs and give it another try thanks.

So I think I’m gonna do this: since the rfid card thing and the proxmark3 will take a while to arrive, I’m gonna assume that my chip is an rfid 125kHz, I’m gonna buy the scanner I bought on amazon and test if it works, if it works I cancel the order on card and if it doesn’t work, I return the scanner and continue waiting for the card. If you don't need a high level of security then wiring something like this into the existing system is probably relatively easy.

I would only recommend doing this in very rudimentary installations where there is no need for audit trails, software control, etc. and quadruple-check with the owner/c-suite before tampering with it. Get the planned changes in writing and perhaps even hire a contractor to make sure it's done to code.

So I was just searching for what you said about the ID. I found that the card reader I was about to buy: this one seems to only read the ID? (Information in the description.) On another website they say that it only reads the first 10 digits (they didn't say of what, probably the ID?). At the moment I am just confused because if the tag simply sends out the ID and not more, the letter I got wouldn't make sense.
But the reader should still be able to read everything (if there is more) that gets supplied by the chip am I right ?

I have got a few of these and have been able to implement them with great success for identifying a profile or physical user in my automation system. The Mifare 1k Classic protocol is a powerful, secure and widely used RFID system, which is what this reader is for.
