Well, I just got them off amazon, though it sounds like Samsung lowered the price atm...

I'd recommend a nylon band from Archer Watch straps. They are high quality and relatively cheap. A bit stiff at the beginning but they soften up nicely after about a few weeks and you can wear your watch all day and night and you feel like you're not wearing a watch at all. Make sure to get the 22mm strap for the original Gear S3s. Not sure, I use the Inbox app by Gmail app and my notifications work fine on that. If it worked before and stopped working after an update then downgrading will probably fix it.
