Reason for new forum: http://hazeron.com/mybb/showthread.php?tid=5 You'll need to make a new forum account.
The old forum is accessible in a read-only format. All old links are redirected to it, so it is still possible to read all the old threads. Found here: http://digiprose.com/phpBB3/index.php
Update for all future reader. The issue has been identified!
Follow this workaround until a real fix is deployed (hopefully next week).

A sector is 10x10x10 persec, and the number of stars depends on how close you are to the center of the galaxy and so.
But yeah, "10-20" sounds about right.

You will probably get better answers to your request on the community Discord server. Here: https://discord.gg/CPrpDzJ
You can also ask questions there and people will be able to help you pretty much around the clock.
Other than that the beginner guides on the wiki are updated to be current with the current version of the game. See: http://hazeron.com/wiki/index.php/Building_Your_First_City
If a wiki page isn't up to date, you can pester me to update it I guess. The thing I don't have enough experience with is the new designer though. But there is a dedicated channel to designer help on the community Discord server with plenty of experienced players.
The launcher calculate the MD5 hash of each file every time you start it, it then compares it to the hashes on the Hazeron webserver. If the hashes don't match it downloads and replaces the file.
This is the MD5 hashes for Windows 64bit version of the client:
http://hazeron.com/software/soh-win64/md5sums
> Every file is validated using an md5 hash key so the launcher will update all files that change. It will also fix files that have been deleted or modified as a result of virus infection or other data corruption.

Maybe a little silly, but I am sure you would get more attention if you also posted in the Recruiting forum section.

The Mac was giving me a similar error, unable to find the platform plugin 'cocoa'. I ended up changing the code that SoH uses to find it's libraries. It works for me; let's see if it works for you.

AnrDaemon says you may have an old install of Hazeron on your computer. Did you have Hazeron installed on this computer last year?
If so, go to %USERPROFILE%\Shores of Hazeron
and delete the following folders.
For more information on removing Hazeron, see: http://hazeron.com/remove.html
This is a bug then, as it is suppose to make you able to see if you can run the game before paying for the game.
