I'm not the person you asked but that won't stop me from responding:
I use alkolol and johnson and Johnson baby shampoo, separately, in my sinus rinses.
Alkolol is like snorting vaporub.
Baby shampoo is made to clean well and made to not irritate eyes so babies don't howl in pain if it gets in their eyes during a rinse. That makes it perfect for washing allergens out of your eyes and out of your nose (which are near those eyes!).
I wash first with baby shampoo + saline neti wash. Then alkolol +saline neti wash. I wait 5 minutes and do it again if needed. When I feel clear and clear of water in the sinuses, I Then use generic Flonase. I also take generic claritin and use zatador allergy eye drops.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I'm glad you're starting to feel a little better each day.
For the sleeping issue, if for any reason on your side becomes a problem: I bought a sturdy neck/travel pillow and a cheap back pillow (the kind made for reading in bed or whatever). I used these after oral surgery and it was surprisingly comfortable. After a couple days, I used the neck pillow with my regular pillow and it was still good.
I don't know if this is helpful for sinus stuff, but I also used the neck pillow when I had to start doing moist heat on my jaws. I laid a damp washcloth over my mouth/jaws, then the heating pad, and used the neck pillow "arms" to hold it all in place. It looked ridiculous but it worked! It could be modified to hold it in place across your head or nose/mouth I guess.
Yeah that sounds about right. The first week I couldn’t believe how weak I felt. I guess my body was working hard healing.
What surprised me is that is isn’t a sliding scale of feeling better. It’s highs and lows really. Expect some setbacks- especially after the debridements. I feel that makes your body heal over again.
I’ve been going with the sinus rinses 3x a day. I hate them but I think they help. I use the neilmed sinugator which automatically pushes the water up your nose and has a pulsating action. And I bought a bunch of gallons of distilled Water and saline rinse packets from Walmart.
You’ll do great. Just listen to your body and take it easy.
The day after I had a post-op appointment first thing in the morning. The Dr said the debridement he did would count as the first cleaning.
The second one I did was later that day. TBH I have the bottle but if found this to be more effective. It does all the water pushing automatically and also pulses so I think it is better than just a gentle stream.
To answer your question I don’t think you feel the saline water over a wound as such. The discomfort is
a) just the feeling of temperature (cold/warm or hot) inside your nose
b) the feeling of pressure when it is pushing something out.
I bought many gallons of distilled water from Walmart (89c I think) and just microwave a 3rd of a gallon for each rinse. I don’t mind them much now but if I was given a choice I would not like to do them.
My dr said I should do them for at least 3 more weeks but suggested I keep doing them even after just as a matter of hygiene like brushing your teeth.
Hope this helps.
I hate/d it also. I’ve been doing it for a week now post op and it’s hit or miss each time. I’m doing it 3x daily. I use distilled water that I microwave for a min+ for temp comfort.
If nothing is coming out, maybe the flow is too gentle. I use the NeilMed Sinugator which is a pulsating nasal wash. You just stick it to one nostril and it pushes water up by itself. Maybe it will make a difference.
Also it is important to tilt your head and keep your mouth open.
Unfortunately the medical community is bond by rules of the CDC and codes from WHO. For example, it could be proved by hundreds of studies that there is a better treatment or that a current treatment is ineffective, but if the CDC doesn’t have it as part of their treatment guidelines and WHO doesn’t have a code for the insurance companies, then, for an extreme high majority of doctors, that’s all you’ll get.
This is why it’s for your best interest to look up studies on your own and to join every group you can find and use that search function. Discord usually has people who are more hardcore into whatever subject the server is about. Facebook.. not as much but using the search function, you can find treatments mentioned and then look up those studies too. This is what i did with Lyme disease.. a disease doctors are clueless about if not treated early. I learned that, there’s usually an answer out there even if you’re told otherwise.

I'd guess any xylitol would work? What kind did you use?
Would this work?
I was diagnosed with non allergic rhinitis and my mucus is clear but i'm willing to try anything to feel relief
This is going to sound crazy but it works well and is surprisingly gentle. It is a nasal aspiration that connects to your vacuum. When I have mucus I just can’t clear, it is a life saver. I use it sparingly but it feels so good when I do.

Hey there. Not sure if you looked into this at all, but I went on a whim and bought this after reading many reviews. A lot of peoples’ similar to ours (dog coughing for months, vet can’t figure it out, not responding well to meds…) I was pretty skeptical but figured what did I have to lose? Bought them and am on day 4 now and seeing HUGE results. Unsure if it’s temporary or permanent, some said as they weaned the cough just never came back and others said they started to cough again but we get major relief (cough cut in more than 1/2 or no coughing some days at all). Might be something to consult your vet on but I wanted to pass it along to you! https://www.chewy.com/homeopet-cough-homeopathic-medicine/dp/138051?utm_source=google-product&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=12791446466&utm_content=HomeoPet&utm_term=&gbraid=0AAAAADmQ2V3RC2ib_L9FCj5ECYC4c0gMZ&gclid=EAIaIQobCh...
Interesting. I just bought this on Amazon literally yesterday, and wore it for the first time last night. While it helped my mouth breathing I still woke up feeling tired as ever.

Can confirm /u/16neeruam gave one good answer. After reading about mouth taping in the book Breath, I ordered some of this 3M tape. I put a little Vaseline on my lips, then tape from below my chin to my upper lip. Have slept better most nights.
Even if I'm slightly plugged up, this usually helps my nose to open up a bit. Maybe 5 percent of the time it doesn't work and I feel like I can't breathe. You may need to fight that feeling for a little while. It has really helped me.
Nasal spray addiction is extremely common I was addicted for alot longer then 3 years. At some point you just have to suffer through and come off the stuff its not easy. I would maybe keep going to see different ENTs until maybe you find one that has a good technique for winging people off the stuff. Breath right strips like the super strong ones i use linked below along with a strong decongestant at night might help winging her off .
www.amazon.com/dp/B0856Q4NG6?psc=1&ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_product\_details
Balloon Sinuplasty is an extremely common procedure that most all ENTs are pushing doing so there's absolutely nothing special about that above doctor you linked to there all doing it now. I had it done along with many other procedures over the years and in the end they all made things much worse for me not to say they don't help some people just be careful
Really let me just confirm your saying your getting that short of breath feeling also even when your not exercising ??
I get it also when I'm not exercising just that for me exercising can trigger it also making it worse .
Wearing a breath right strip like the super ones below link help

Thirded.
Also trying out a nasal irrigator attachment for my waterpik (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DW583ST).
Keep it on setting 2 or lower and the extra water volume of the tank helps to run it longer.
Try the xylitol rinse instead. The saline doesn't do anything for me except make my insides feel wet. Xylitol is antibacterial and helps sanitize the shit out of your sinuses. Helped me get over infections faster in the past.
I have this one. It takes up some space on the counter and can be a little noisy but it makes a decent amount of water and you don't have to wrestle with the jugs from the store. https://www.amazon.com/CO-Z-Distiller-Countertop-Distilling-Distillers/dp/B09CTRMXSR/ref=sr\_1\_14?crid=3LQBHUCFTE40Q&keywords=distilled+water+machine&qid=1655404765&sprefix=distill%2Caps%2C454&sr=8-14
The pressure seems secondary to a "raw" feeling that is ever present. My airways are definitely restricted, but never to the point where I have to mouth breathe. I do think I have a reduced sense of smell.
Yes, there were signs of inflammation in the CTs, but to what degree I honestly can't remember. It was inflammation that led to the surgeries.
I'm still trying to decide myself how scientific it is. The orthodontist had what looked to me like a pretty impressive list of credentials, and it took me 6 months to get an appointment. I'll send you a link to his bio in private and you can tell me if he looks legit.
The mucus I spoke of is felt far more in my right sinus than in my throat. That may be due to increased sensitivity from whatever is giving me the "raw" feeling. The cryosurgery was done under the theory that my nerves had just become hypersensitive and were triggering pain and inflammation in reaction to nothing.
Omeprazole is what I was put on, so I'll look into Gaviscon. I do drink mostly water, excepting a diet soda every day or so - but never after around 3pm. (I go to bed around 11pm.) On the candida theory I've been on a zero sugar/carb/dairy diet for the last few months. It hasn't helped which doesn't support the candida theory very well.
I have found a lot of what the orthodontist told me echoed in the book "Breathe". There are portions that do feel like pseudoscience to me but, on the whole, it seems reasonably solid for a popular science book. I do have the bias for intellectual rebels, but do my best to be objective.
I do understand the limits of conversations like this, and appreciate the time. Any tips in finding a good rhinologist in the US?
If I had to do it again I wouldn't get ones with bumps like the ones I got but these are all I could find on Amazon. The rest are metal and I was desperate for a quick solution.
The ideal shape would be something that smoothly gets wider but then stays a consistent thickness. But still made of silicone. Let me know if you find that.
When I'm sticking these up my nose I can feel my nasal cavity expand and then slip around the bumps lol. It hurts... especially the first time.

Just a disclaimer, I'm kind of a mad scientist when it comes to fixing my body. I once tried to remove a piece of steel from my eyeball with electromagnets that I linked together to 3 car batteries.
Don't even get me started about removing my own molar... sober.

The neti pot was to complicated for me. My surgeon recommend this: https://www.amazon.com/SinuFlo-Ready-Rinse-ounces-Bottle/dp/B0030HMR7E/ref=sr_1_5?crid=2DIBRPJ7NGBP5&keywords=nasal+rinse+bottle&qid=1647998711&sprefix=Nasal+rinse%2Caps%2C96&sr=8-5
I use it with xylitol and saline packets every morning and evening. I have to turn my head at every angle to make sure it fully drains. I make sure to blow very gently after using it or it goes into my ears.
I've found this works well. I just responded to someone elses post but I highly recommend taking this product.
This is a life changing product and I am thoroughly shocked that doctors do NOT tell their patients about this product.
Try this and I hope this helps
At first I paid $150 through the dentist and then damaged that one. Not wanting to pay more money, I tried OTC and it is 100% the same to me. Something like this LINK
Yep, something like this
I use a sinupulse machine daily, but for travel I have a bottle like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZCNG2X7/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_TW17RNJ90634HDSPCDRY?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 - very easy to use you just squeeze it, rather than having to hold your head at some weird angle. I think the version I have I got at a local drug store.
For the GERD, you might try DGL licorice lozenges, allowed to dissolve slowly in your mouth. The kind with 400 mg actual DGL licorice in each lozenge are best. Some folks get great relief with just a couple a day dissolved in the mouth. For example:
https://www.amazon.com/Natural-Factors-Licorice-Supports-Integrity/dp/B0001KFGWQ
Read some of the many reviews, extremely helpful, a godsend for many, not helpful to some others. I’ve known of some who had great relief from GERD by going strictly gluten free, or keto, or carnivore. Might check out those Reddit subs and see what people are experiencing.
Have you tried Sovereign Silver? It stops my infections. I still have sinus pain, but this has helped me. A lady at a health food store got me going on it...it's cheaper on Amazon tho....check out the reviews. I took it pry 4 times a day...few squirts each time.
You'll need to elevate your head slightly the night after surgery, some sort of wedge to put under your head and shoulders would help.
Food that is soft to eat, not crunchy like raw carrots (or really salty and crunchy like Fritos or tortilla chips). I put beef stew and veggies through the blender so I didn't have to chew much the first day.
Lots of thing to drink, snacks. Movies/videos to watch. Books to read/kindle etc. Puzzles.
Distilled water for the rinses.
I had gauze taped under my nose in recovery to catch (the very little) bleeding I had. But, I didn't have tape at home or gauze. You could use also soft kleenex held in place by a soft cloth face mask under (not over) your nose if you need any gauze or have any bleeding.
No straws, I was told not to drink through a straw after surgery.
Wasn't supposed to bend down/ put my head down (like to pull on shoes and socks) for a couple of days. I borrowed this long shoe horn thing (like this) to help me put shoes on while sitting but not bending down (dk what it was called, elderly neighbor offered it).
Also, wasn't supposed to do any exertion or lifting of any sort for at least the first week, and possibly more. So my neighbor took out my trash (pushed the cart to the street). (Different people react differently, my ENT had one patient that was back in the gym lifting 10 days after surgery, but he said that was a huge exception.)
Others here have had really good thoughts in the past for this situation hopefully they'll comment.
Try stretching your jaw out. Often it can be jaw muscle tightness that affects all your facial muscles, and it can feel like sinus problems. A neurologist won't really notice this because they focus on neuropathy of facial nerves. Open your mouth as wide as you can and lift your tongue so the tip hits the back of your front top teeth. Or use something like this https://www.amazon.com/Gentle-Jaw-stretching-Grinding-Headaches/dp/B087QYF5W4#customerReviews
My Navage hack was to drill a small hole in the top of the saline solution container, just large enough to refill with a 1000 ml squeeze bottle I purchased from Amazon.
I leave a previously used Navage capsule in the top of the device, then simply refill with my own solution each time for use. Don't open the top = it always works.
Here are the squeeze bottles I used
Best of luck.
Thermalon Microwave Activated Moist Heat-Cold Sinus and Allergy Relief Mask https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000E57CWA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_7Y5Y303SWVAJWT3VXHTN
I use this warm compress daily. You put it in the microwave for 30 to 45 seconds depending on how strong your microwave is, put it on your face while laying down on your back, and relax there for 15 to 20 minutes. It helps reduce inflammation all over your face, especially around the eyes.
I'm a stomach (preferred) or side sleeper (more of a lazy side and stomach twist). The problem for me now is all the stuff that is on my cavities (and will be removed on the 18th). So I could sleep on my side of my face didn't feel like it was full of tubes. Add in the burning/irritation/pain under my cheekbones, and side becomes even tougher. At least my Great Danes have been good about letting my sleep in weird positions on them.
>bought a memory foam travel pillow
Thanks, ordered. It'll be useful after this anyways. I look forward to being able to fly again without my ears falling apart!
>If you try the mask thing, let me know how it goes!
Will do! My throat problems are better today than they were, especially since my nose is actually getting air through now. I got this humidifier which helped (came in yesterday), but wish I would have had it day one. But definitely will try it, regardless.
Oh I think I forgot to mention, get lots of flavored fluids to hydrate. You'll likely get bored of water very quickly. Straws help, especially when you can't see because of the drip pad. It'll help with food cravings too as you'll probably taste the flavors more than you would with food. Get assortment packs of Gatorade, coconut waters, etc.
I'm sure I scared you with everything. I just wanted a realistic expectation so you could hope for the best but plan for the worst. I've very excited about the final outcome of all this still; I've had breathing problems since I was in high school and I'm in my 40s now. Stay optimistic and remember the "why". Hopefully it'll be over quickly and relatively pain free, with a massive improvement to your life!
I'm a side-sleeper so I have a little edge up on you, hahaha. Last night, I actually thought to myself, I better super enjoy these next few nights of having my nose pressed into my pillow.
I bought a memory foam travel pillow that snaps at the neck (similar to this) and that helped with the back-sleeping/elevated sleeping A LOT.
If you try the mask thing, let me know how it goes!
Sorry I was less than explicit. It is not a prescription medication. You can find it here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000NB5BFA/ref=cm_sw_r_wa_api_glt_fabc_7Z98WWS67CBE9T335A4S?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
So like this one?
It's a wand style with this speed dial. I'm not sure if an external speed dial would work with the newer digital models.
Start with a regular saline rinse to clear everything out. I use NeilMed, but whatever works for you.
Then another saline rinse with a couple drops of this:
Burt's Bees Baby Bee Travel Size Shampoo & Wash - 1.8 oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IUGT43A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_5gIbGbFA99B99
Followed by another saline rinse with the powder contained in one pill of this:
Premier Research Labs Allicidin - Supports Both Immune And Cardiovascular Health (60 Capsules) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003PQVWWG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_SYT4ywZ2efMqJ
And a final 4th rinse with just saline.
I do this twice in one day and go back to just saline. Repeat when needed.
Vicks warm mist is the best one I've found. I hate the ultrasonic "cool mist" ones that are popular right now because they are more drying (I tried a few and took them back). The old fashioned steamy Vicks one really raises the moisture level of cold winter air and helps my sinuses! I find I don't need it in summer when it's naturally humid where I live, but I can't be without it in winter.
I bought the Navage Nasal Care Starter Bundle from Amazon Prime. That bundle gets you the Navage Nasal cleaner unit and 20 salt pods. Navage
I’m going through the same exact thing went to the ER last night thinking I had covid. My nasal passages and throat are painfully irritated and dry. Dug into my medicine cabinets and used a Polaris ointment, Ayr and this sinus rinse . The rinse was painful at first but it worked. Been applying AYR to keep my nasal passages moist.
Seems like an overhyped electric massager, wonder if there is difference between this and an average 20$ electric massager like this? https://www.amazon.com/Massager-Electric-Anti-Aging-Wrinkles-Tightening/dp/B07Q5PD2YL/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=face+massager&qid=1608526224&sr=8-5
I use something similar to a netipot called a NeliMed Sinus Rinse - I don't know the difference, it's just what my ENT told me to use after my first sinus surgery. I use it 2-5 times daily depending on how I feel, but always before bed, and always when I wake up (and when I wake up at night to go to the bathroom or something).
Stuff like Afrin can definitely cause some pain, I often feel pain like in the back of my sinus with that.
I don't take Flonase but I take something almost identical called Budesonide/Rhinocort (that one is prescription only). Flonase/Rhinocort/Nasonex are all pretty much identical so the directions are the same. I take the Budesonide twice a day, two sprays on each side. I think Flonase might be once a day - depends on directions. But you should take it at least once a day. There is generally no side effects with nasal steroids because they only affect your sinus, they don't go through your digestive system like oral steroids do.
If your sinus issues are caused by allergies then just allergy medicine might not be enough depending on how bad the allergies are. Since your sinusitis seems to be long term it very well could be allergies. It might be worth getting allergy tested - and an allergist can prescribe Singulair which is an allergy medicine that targets leukotrienes instead of histamines which often causes sinus swelling.
I did Qnasl for a long time after my first surgery, then switched between it and Flonase for a while. Xhance is the same active ingredient as Flonase but it has a little pipe you blow into when spraying it so it forces the medicine DEEP into the sinuses. I am loving it.
I was using this little machine that passes electrical current through the skin and it really helps reduce inflammation, I think it’s called clear up or something? Idk it was a Facebook ad and worth every penny.
I have recently gotten the Navage and I am pissed I waited this long to get it. I took it to my last ent appointment and he was like, yeah that thing is rad, imma tell my patients who won’t stick with regular neti rinses to try it. (He recommends squeeze bottle rinses usually)
I have also used alkalol sinus rinse when I feel extra mucous-y and love it when I feel a head cold coming on. I don’t use it every day but my friend does. I swear she’s addicted haha!

I would recommend to do a 3 day juice cleanse & look at how your body reacts, before you opt for surgery. [This is not going to harm you]

I'm researching methods to fight the staph since this seems to be the primary cause. You can get the surgery and take the meds, but it still will come back if the staph isn't killed. I ordered Ponaris Nasal Emolient which consists of essential oils that may shrink polyps. My thoughts are the polyps shrink since they are being exposed to antiviral and antibiotic substances directly.
Ponaris Nasal Emolient, 1 oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000GB221S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabt1_34zTFbZ5R5BN0
This is only a slight improvement in convenience over the NeilMed bottles, but I've found it a lot easier to work with.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077Z5ZB99
It works like shotgunning a beer with a spring loaded press valve to let the air in. I keep mine in a container of rubbing alcohol and give it a quick shake and rinse with a Tablespoon or so of distilled water before using. It's held up to a year of daily use with no issues so far.
You can also make your own solution with 1 tbsp of salt and 1 tbsp of baking soda in a gallon of distilled water. I personally add a 1-2 tbsp of Xylitol which is supposed to help prevent infections by breaking up any bio-films. (bacterial tent cities) I'm not sure how much it helps, but hasn't caused any issues for me either.
Ponaris is just a mentholated product that you can put in your nose to help with dryness and congestion. My ent gave me some years ago. Definitely not a cure but not dangerous. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AE64YT2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fab_cU0DFbEKNP9RV
Have you been using this? This might help.
That’s the fun part of all of this.
At least for me, it took about 6 weeks for that to come clear, but I wasn’t out of the woods.
The xylitol was a life-changing event. At first I would have said it was just another gimmick. I am glad I hung in there a few days with it.
With Xylitol, you rinse with it now, and then routinely blow your nose over say, the next 3 hours. Then you’ll start getting rubbery, thick, clear stuff coming out formed in the shape of whatever sinus it was stuck in.
IMHO, get the Xylitol now, and use it in tandem with the Bactroban. The Bactroban prevents the bacteria from reproducing. The Xylitol will help remove the bacteria already trapped up there, saving you from having to wait for it to die off.
Xylitol is the thing that keeps me sane. 3 sinus surgeries and my sinuses still don’t drain out on their own, but if I skip out on Xylitol one of the 4 times I use it a day, I hate myself, because it is so hard to get this stuff out otherwise.
Use 1/2 tsp with every 8 ounces of saline. This is the stuff I use. You can start with a small bag and get more later if you need it:
Specifically, homeopathic Kali Mur 30c, Kali Iod 30c, or Kali Bi 30c are commonly taken for sinusitis. Boiron sells these in small tubes of pellets at health food stores or on Amazon.
The correct homeopathic remedy for a person depends on their exact symptoms, and that can be hard to figure out.
You can also get homeopathic remedies that cover a number of sinus symptoms, such as Sinusalia or Natrabio Sinus Relief from Amazon or health food stores.
All of these help me. I depend on Kali Mur 30c when I start to get a bad sinus infection.
I take two supplements, N Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) and Bromelain. They both help a lot.
I use Nutribiotic nasal spray with grapefruit seed extract, or XLEAR nasal spray with grapefruit seed extract and xylitol.
Plain xylitol and grapefruit seed extract added to NeilMed Sinus Rinse helps too.
