If you're interested in the food on the Titanic, there's a wonderful cookbook that shows not only the menus for the first, second and third classes on the final night, but also includes background and recipes for most of the dishes.
There's still one Woolworth lunch counter, at least as of 2019. I suspect there might be a handful of mom and pop examples still out there, but I'd be surprised if any of the big chains kept any.
Ooh, there’s an amazing book out there on Victoria’s relationship with food, as well as how the royal household operated, changes in cuisine, and the development of food as an industry. I highly recommend the “The Greedy Queen” if you’d like to learn more. I especially liked the parts on how they raised their children, giving them a working farm and kitchen to use so they could understand just what it took to feed a household in Britain.

If you’re interested in the history of Jewish restaurants, the great cartoonist/historian Ben Katchor wrote this scholarly tome, The Dairy Restaurant, here: https://www.amazon.com/Dairy-Restaurant-Ben-Katchor/dp/0805242198
>Some people who had spent a lot of time in India serving under the Raj occupation enjoyed Indian food, but it was usually seen as somewhat eccentric or the food was heavily Anglicised.
Mentioning the Raj set off a flare in my book brain. Have you run across this book yet? I love it so much and have read it several times. It's so culturally rich! https://www.amazon.com/Raj-at-Table-David-Burton/dp/0571143903
I bet the Whey Punch was delicious! Here’s how to make Clarified Milk Punch, it’s made from whey and it is amazing! If you plan on making it make sure you invest in a milk nut bag, because cheesecloth is a hot mess to work with.

I highly recommend Bell's book. It gives a lot of info on the start of Taco Bell and even other fast food giants when they were just starting out.

The photo of the first framchisee and his menu board was indeed first but they switched up pretty quickly to having the main items spelled phonetically because they found people had a hard time ordering because they weren't sure of how to pronounce stuff. Remember it was a time when this would still be considered exotic. I vividly remember having stuff like "Tah-co" spelled out which I thought was amusing even when I was little.
I don't remember much about the pricing (I was still a little kid, altho for some reason I remember how much gasoline would go for...lol) but it seemed on par with MacDonalds in cost.
If you're curious, Luchow's published a cookbook with instructions for making most of their famous dishes. It was published in 1952, so it's good old-fashioned German cooking at it's best: https://smile.amazon.com/Luchows-German-Cookbook-Favorite-Restaurant/dp/0848817524
Funny enough years ago there was a review on Maxim magazine about it so I went online and ordered it, here is the Amazon link
Looks like it's still available through Amazon. I used to love it, I may have to order some.
Edit: Never mind, looks like it's been out of stock for quite some time. Oh well.
